I just got an email from New Scientist magazine saying they are giving away a Bitcoin.
That's an odd bit of press, but getting word out to a wider and new audience, what do you make of it?

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn26905-win-your-very-own-bitcoin.html?cmpid=EMP|NSNS|2015-0206-GLOBAL-bitcoincomp&utm_medium=EMP&utm_source=NSNS&utm_campaign=bitcoincomp&

Thatīs a smart thing to do as all bitcoiners are about to loose their citizenship sooner or later if they donīt abandon Bitcoin.

Their citizenship of where?  I am not American, not "all bitcoiners" are.

America is only the beginning, all other countrys will most likely follow in the next months!  Sad

How's the short going?

I stopped trading Bitcoin due to the possibility that the blockchain could collapse if the price falls below 50$, which would probably be the price where all miners shut down.
Most of the fractional reserves exchanges will also run away with the little money thatīs left, when the bankrun starts after the upcoming crash.

Inca please have a heart and stop luring more people into the BTC scam. BTC already produced countless broken souls. Stop telling them lies about upcoming bull markets and >500$ coins. You already took away enough money from the newbies.  Donīt be greedy! Thanks in advance!

Best wishes and greetings

Your friend

484  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitStamp - Bank Blocks USD Deposits on: February 07, 2015, 10:35:18 PM
What, banks randomly blocking USD transfers? Seems like USD is in big trouble. Or worse: USD IS HACKED!! Better panic sell all my dollars!

Banks are probably starting to ban Bitstamp coz they "know".
Remember how it started with Gox, when "Dwolla" stepped out, and over the following months one bank after another stopped cooperating with them.
Warning signs!

This is not the same as Gox and they claim to have an alternate bank, so give them a few days before screaming for people to sell when they should be buying BTC at discount prices.
All liar trolls will eventually burn in Hell.

BTC bull scammers practically own hell Sad

I didnīt say a word about selling. But thatīs probably just your usual butthurt bull paranoia...

I just recommend to get out there via USD or BTC as long as it is possible, whatever...

Donīt ignore the warning signs.

1. Hacked and robbed
2. Banking problems
3. Weird trading activity

Soon a lot of people will be selling their Bitcoin for 80 bucks. Just give it a few days.  Smiley

It says win, not give in the URL, so I assume it's a competition.
ok but the associated spiel is quite good:

What would you do with a bitcoin? Spend it on apps or games? A flight or a night at the theatre? How about a splurge on coffee beans, hand-made rugs and pizza? The list of what you can buy with bitcoins is growing.

Maybe you'll just squirrel it away and watch how the rollercoaster unfolds. A bitcoin is worth about $230 at the time of writing, but its value is volatile: pedictions for what one bitcoin will be worth in three years' time range from tens of thousands of dollars to nothing at all. New Scientist is giving away one bitcoin – so what will you do with it?

Sell ASAP!

492  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 bitcoins. Will I be a millionaire by 2020? on: February 07, 2015, 07:58:39 PM
Unless $23K is an insignificant amount for you, no you will not. You are over invested and will be emotional on price movements. If price falls 80% will you panic sell? If you double your money one year and then it falls back to your original investment amount the following year will you still hold?

Don't worry, it's all profit for me. I bought in originally at $1 and again at $7 and $13 and made enough money to buy my house. I've 100btc left and just want to retire. I'm sick of my job.

493  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 07, 2015, 07:49:41 PM

now, that is what bulls are trying: to discredit bitstamp and make a run for the coins on the exchange that is out of fiat, not coins.

fiat on chinese/bitfinex exchanges that are trading junk bitcoin derivatives is a sort of abstract category.

Ultimately only BTC-E will remain.  Cool Cheesy
494  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 07, 2015, 07:25:12 PM
Why does everyone keep attacking stamp?

If you don't trust the exchange, don't use it.

Spreading FUD and comparing it to gox doesn't help the situation, it only causes more panic..

or maybe that's their angle  Roll Eyes

there's so many selfish traders around these days, and it's really sad.

-Hacked and robbed
-Banking problems
-Weird trading moves and super low volume beside those moves

I have seen this pattern before. If it walks and talks  like a Gox then there is a chance that it might be become one.
Good thing is that they donīt nearly have that much money from traders on their exchange.

Conclusion: Bullish

Lol@Bitstamp. These trades/candles look like the ones on Gox during itīs last days. Completly random and illogical.
I donīt think that Bitstamp will exist until the end of the year or even q2.  Smiley
Insiders are already fleeing from the sinking ship.
496  Economy / Speculation / Re: Record high dump of LTC and BTC at BTC-e on: February 07, 2015, 03:09:51 PM
Holy shit, 400 BTC dumped. Must have been Satoshi!  Shocked
497  Economy / Speculation / Re: Automated posting on: February 07, 2015, 06:27:42 AM

It's Huobi the anchor chain again. Must be the big Chinese mining pools still dumping coins. Don't they know the rest of the world is revving for the next bull run?

Someone just needs to tell the rest of the world to deposit USD at BTC exchanges. Just tell em that the bulls at bitcointalk.org are overall positive but already heavily loaded with coins and cannot afford to buy anymore, that should convince them.

Friend on Wall Street says pump to ~250 today or tomorrow.
Then it will drop to around 230 and stick there for a bit.
My neighbor says the great rally of 2015 will push bitcoin to $700.

The rally won't even START until 700.

And the CCMF won't start until $1400.

Everything below 5 digits is dirt cheap, right?
499  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 06, 2015, 11:16:42 PM
1. Exchange gets hacked, loses coins
2. Exchange claims everything is OK
3. Exchange has "banking problems" after the incident
4. Trading activity seems somehow dead since a few weeks (insiders have already left...)

Sounds familiar?  Cheesy
500  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 06, 2015, 10:50:37 PM

Attention Bitstamp bears: Only 3 million USD left in the orderbook, otherwise you have to sell your coins for recharge codes (chinese food stamps) on Huobi! Cheesy
