Accept That Bitcoin Is A Currency And Stop Blaming The Victims of CrimeIn Hong Kong the Bitcoin “investment scheme” MyCoin has reportedly disappeared, along with over $350 million. The Hong Kong government’s response was to issue a warning about Bitcoin and digital currencies in general. That probably doesn't raise many eyebrows; we have all become accustomed to that response, but replace “Bitcoin” with almost anything else of value that could be stolen and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA)'s reaction would be outrageous. There is no talk about investigating or attempting to prosecute the crime, just a warning. The attitude that comes across is “What do you expect if you own a virtual currency?” Replace those last two words with gold or U.S. dollars, or almost anything else for that matter, and the statement becomes an insult. http://www.nasdaq.com/article/accept-that-bitcoin-is-a-currency-and-stop-blaming-the-victims-of-crime-cm442726 $350 million yeh its near enough to $8.1 mil http://www.coindesk.com/mycoin-hong-kong-police-8-1-million/there hasn't been a ban for a long time ban number 826 coming up Mt. Gox and BitStamp laugh at your $8.1 mill loss! At least BitStamp had the Slovenian balls to continue operating after their hack. $8mill is Peanuts in the grand scheme of things (and hacks/losses) when it comes to exchanges. If anything it'll push customers towards either decentralized exchanges, or hyper regulated exchanges like the upcoming Gemini. Growth! Sometimes you gotta crack a few eggs to make an omelette. The fact(?) that only 8$ millions were lost for sure will attract new investors! Much growth! BULLISH AS FUCK! (Fuck the stupid victims btw...) Hard to believe that you are serious, but i don´t have many doubts after what i have already seen on this board in the last 1-2 years- Yes I'm serious. Peanuts, man. Compare it to Mt. Gox's lost coins and it's a drop in the bucket. I know your sole reason is to troll the forums to get a rise out Bulltards and try to sway some noobs, but your modus operandi is so dam played out. I am resting my case here. If you really think that events like these will produce growth (for BTC/USD(CNY)) then i have nothing left to say. You win

@fatman. It makes no sense to talk about it anyway. I said it took me months to know what i know. I read in Every Direction. This is fucked. And i can assure You that giving the kiev leaders weapons will not soften that Problem. Why are they the ukrainian leaders? Half of the country was not even allowed to vote
Nothing personal, but after months of reading you are further from the truth that you was before it. If you assume that you know absolutely nothing about EU, Germany, Greece, USA, Russia and Ukraine, you would be closer to the truth than you are now. There are two prerequisites to reading about money/politics: 1. You have to assume that most of what you are reading is a lie. It can be the lie the author believes in himself, like it's with Marxism, Christianity or democracy, but it is lie nerveless. 2. You should be able to tell a lie from the truth. It's not that easy as it seems. You enemy are not outside only - your biggest enemy is your own desire to believe in what you want to be truth. I can't tell about myself, but most of people lack these prerequisites and fall easy prey to all kinds of bastards, that feeding them with all kinds of lies, to get their money/support. I'm afraid, you are among their victims. tl;dr; The books/articles you are reading are poisoned. Unless you are immune to poisons, just keep away from them! wow

Well, those months were obviously a waste. Most of us who are interested in international politics have been keeping an eye on these things for decades, and being critical of your sources is alpha and omega in the internet era. But go ahead, be a Kreml stooge. I am struggling to care. well this is one of the reasons why i usually don't talk about this topic in public boards anymore...all you did was discrediting me...for what reason? because i have a different opinion? differnet sources? you didn't even try to answer to what i said whatever...think what you want to think...i am out of that topic Finally you admit that you are nothing but a troll!

This is so cinematic. I would love to see a full movie that happens in a bitcoin mine like that.
I am also into dystopian films.

lol such grandure irony and truth from this thread
The same ones yelling to the heavens 'HODL' (basically ever other thread on here) and hoarding along the way are doing nothing but destroying the value and economy of the very currency they want to 'get rich quick' off of. Haha. What a conundrum. It shows they truly couldn't give a rats ass about the actual technology itself, and will dump and gtfo as soon as there's signs of some quick cash.
Sad to say, but daily market shorters are pretty much the only thing keeping bitcoin buoyant at this time. The amount of people spending it daily in real life applications pales in comparison to those holding hoping for a giant payday. The system has become exactly what Satoshi feared but most likely suspected it would inevitably become: a psychological game of greed.
This sums it up pretty good.

This article: Is $215 The Lowest We Could Go? ...says that we could stay at $215 and maybe that will be the lowest that we could go. Just a questions, what will happen if we go lower than that? Due to stoploss orders that get triggered around 200$ and loss in confidence that the real bottom was in we would probably drop to pre-bubble prices @ ~70$. Says fonzie, the biggest troll of all on this forum, having "moderator" text under his name that he even isn't and telling us all day every day that bitcoin is doomed. Don't listen to this dude. Yeah, you should better listen to the bullscammers who were telling you to buy all the way down from 1000$ that we would reach 5000$ soon.

I see where Fonzie is coming from, but where exactly do you read that they are considering to ban it, unless this is an assumption based off a variety of articles.
"The government should not just stand aside," Leung told reporters. "It's simply not enough to just ask people to exercise caution when investing ... it has to ban the circulation of such virtual currency in the market."" "Hong Kong lawmakers on Wednesday urged authorities to ban bitcoin" You guys could at least try and read the first few lines of an article, before screaming "LIES; FUD ; NOT TRUE"

A guy claiming to be the Silk Road 2.0 programmer is offering their database for sale: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=952177The guy may well be a scammer, of course. One interesting detail is that he claims to have "usernames and hashed passwords of 476,122 users, 51,490 deposit addresses, 7,756 plaintext passwords, 13,280 product listings, 52,481 private messages, 145,493 transaction records". If true, those numbers may help estimate the number of bitcoin users.
How would he have more than 3 times as many users as transactions? Is it plausible that 2 out of every 3 people who registered at the site did not order anything from it? How on earth would it do that? because the sole purpose of people getting BTC is buy drugs on silk road. And of course no one would visit the site and don't buy drugs. Isn't it clear? There is also terrorism, child porn, assassination and gambling/trading. But i guess by far most of it´s real world usage (~70-80%) is for buying drugs.

Really? The title is misleading. I thought that HK is one of the places where Chinese mining guys are based? And why will they ban bitcoin in the first place? Correct me if I'm wrong, but they are a separate entity, apart from Mainland China, right?
They want to ban Bitcoin due to the bitcoin ponzi "mycoin" that blew up a few days ago with ~400 000 000$ http://uk.reuters.com/article/2015/02/11/uk-fraud-bitcoin-hongkong-idUKKBN0LF0WV20150211"(Reuters) - Hong Kong lawmakers on Wednesday urged authorities to ban bitcoin as more than 25 people flocked to police headquarters to complain over a scam involving the digital currency that media estimate could have duped investors of up to $387 million (253 million pounds)."

Oh my god fonzie! Please mate! Stop your ridicolous FUD!
Nothing like this will happen!
People like you tried to tell me the same when i warned about Gox... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=433094How much longer will Mt.Gox exist before they´re out of business?
Hmmmmm delicious profitable GOXFUD.
Protip: Exchanges are a zero sum game.
Money goes in, but no money goes out. How is that zero sum? So? Even if everyone cashes out their coin and the price goes to 10k, the cash in GOX remains and the traders who stayed and accepted fiat are now legal owners of that fiat. Gox eventually fixes it's transmission woes and as per the zero sum game, the traders who didn't panic get what's theirs in the end. Gox ain't corrupt, ain't in financial difficulty, but is suffering from bad management. They retain their fees earned over 5 years and have more than enough in reserve(btc and fiat) to get through the problems and in the end the only people who lose are that newb's that panicked on the back of FUD. You keep flailing, I'll keep profiting thank you. I don't think MtGox will extinct, As it gets less and less popylar, it will be able to process more transactions
How much longer will Mt.Gox exist before they´re out of business? Years.
