A cool project, not so cool deliver. They are delaying the software forever, investors are losing patience, the price is stagnating. They have to prove everyone wrong and come up with what they are supposed to come up with and deliver a strong package or else people are going to start dumping their bags for something else.
482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Auroracoin Merchants in the Real World on: July 13, 2017, 06:26:20 PM
First off, hello everyone!!! This is my first post to this forum and I hope to have meaningful and constructive conversations with all of you!! Been messing around with cryptos for about a year now and am a hobby miner of DASH and dogecoin. Smiley

This topic is about Auroracoin, the Icelandic digital currency, and specifically the availability of merchants who accept Auroracoin in Iceland. Hopefully I am posting in the right place.

I will be in the country for 11 days and will be bringing with me around 100 AUR with the intention of spending it. However, I am having trouble finding information online pertaining to any potential merchants where I can purchase items with AUR. Could anyone possibly have any information that would help me?

Cheers!!!

I think this coin abandoned. I remember back in the day when it launched, it had an insane pump of like 0.15 BTC:

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/auroracoin/

Unfortunately I didn't sell, because I was a noob and I was too greedy. As you can see, it has been stagnating forever.

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/auroracoin/#markets

These are the current markets. I would go to bitterx, sell for BTC, and get 50 bucks worth of BTC, because what's what 100 AUR is nowadays.
483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Some guy made 200 million from ETH on: July 13, 2017, 05:27:00 PM
You should be able to prove your entry points although I suppose with Eth it gets harder. I would recommend talking to an accountant ha Also, remember to keep good records because it's easier to keep up with record-keeping practices than it is to make up for a lack of records in your work. Cheers!

So what happens if you trade on Cryptsy, Mintpal, or any other altcoin exchange that is now dead? How do you prove entry records on these altcoins in and out if the exchanges are dead?

Even if you were lucky to save your trades, what does it prove? The addresses could be anything. If there's no way to log in into the account and see that the addresses belong to the exchanges, how do you prove this to the IRS or whatever?

Any coin with a blockchain explorer will be easy to show your entry point. You don't even have to prove the actual transaction. Just note that wallet address(es) as yours and you're good.

In my country the tax agency uses January 1st as the price date. If I hold 20 bitcoin then I only have to say I own $998 x 20 =$19.960 worth of Bitcoin for 2017.

If Bitcoin suddenly becomes worth ten times as much on January 1st of 2018 then you note you still own those 20 bitcoins, now worth $9.980 =$190.960 and you pay the tax on it. My country's capital gains tax is absurdly low so I pay 1.3% ($248), but even if it were 15% or 20% I'd swallow and pay it, it means all the rest is gravy to do whatever you want with it.

Why would you report you have any bitcoin? just wait until you cash out and pay the capital gains tax?

See my comments here on AML law.
Then see the status of the lawsuit Coinbase vs the IRS (THEY REQUESTED LOTS OF RECORDS)
If they make you get verified you are watched by the govt's etc.

i told you all here in 2013 regulations were coming.. not long after USA & CAN announced tax laws for crypto coins and later an SEC fraud alert about them too.
Many since joined in.. the basic idea is if you don't claim your Exchange profits you are in violation of tax law and could face severe consequences.
Heard of Al Capone ?
He was considered untouchable.. the IRS took care of that.

I'd rather pick a fight with a Hells Angel in a bar before fucking with the tax man..
And yeah i have too LOL
When the tax man says jump you say how high.

I never bought any bitcoins, so I never needed to register on these exchanges that require you to give them your data. I have only used altcoin exchanges, some of them which are dead. I have no idea about tax laws, I just got on this thing because It was interesting, started making some BTC and holded them, i've never sold anything.

I never intended to break any laws, and I will not. Whenever I cash out I will pay all taxes, that is not the problem.

The problem is the intrinsic mess that is getting track of all bitcoin transactions and report everything, it's insanity. They should make it easy for holders and not scare them into potential counterfeits (as in when you cash out, your bank account gets frozen), otherwise no one is going to report shit on these countries, so it's on their interest to make it easy. It should be capital gains period.
484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TEZOS raised 231 Million on: July 13, 2017, 03:10:35 PM
Wow.Most collected so far ico

If I have learned something from Bancor, is that ICOs that get tons of money, their token always ends up being a failure, the market is just too bloated, too many bagholders, they start selling and the price is just on the floor getting destroyed ground and pound style.

Bancor is still struggling to stay above ICO. This is just retarded. ICO's cant be uncapped. And the problem is, if you don't cap them, it can also lead to problems. All ICO models have problems.
485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any decentralized prediction market that is working NOW? on: July 13, 2017, 03:14:46 AM
Im only aware of augur and I think there was some other ETH ICO stuff that was supposed to do the same. Is any of them working at all? I don't believe any of these work. All of these magic prediction technologies seem not accurate to me. It's like that Cliff High bot thing. Who believes that shit?
486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Some guy made 200 million from ETH on: July 12, 2017, 06:52:26 PM
Your bank is filing all your bank accounts to the IRS though. They know exactly how much you own. So in order to dodge the tax you'd have to somehow find a way to cash out in either an anonymous account or into cash. Both of which may be more expensive than simply paying the tax.

Yeah but how are you supposed to report trades that are lost within dead exchanges? a lot of people has this problem, and I never saw a clear answer. Everyone that traded on Mintpal for instance, and lost all their trading history... how do you prove the entry points of these altcoin trades?

Whole thing is a mess.

Live conference being streamed next 5 min on youtube guys Smiley
I started watching right when they started talking and it was pretty fun. Always entertaining to see two people with massive egos go at it.

Looks like Conor is using the IRS thing to try to get into his head, but Mayweather showed his still uncashed 100 million check from the Pacman fight so that was pretty good. I don't see how anyone can believe Mayweather doesn't have enough money to pay the IRS so is forced to take this fight. He just wants more money and who wouldn't want to box for 9 figures?

The difference in size was obvious, but De La Hoya was an actual boxer and taller than Conor and Mayweather made De La Hoya look like an amateur.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-07-10/one-trader-made-200m-trading-ethereumand-nobody-knows-who-tax

The taxmen are getting nervous with people holding these massive amounts and not being able to tax it.

Well, he didn't sold afaik so it's obvious now he holds less after the crash but he has a fuckton.

Some guy makes a point:

Quote

As he can't prove his entry point, the anti terrorisme act goes in effect, confiscation and guantanamo

Tax evasion as he didn't declare his positions... He's fucked

If you can't prove your entry points and you cash out.. aren't you fucked? They would keep the money and claim it's not clear where you got it from.
490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Switching to Etherum on: July 11, 2017, 05:12:25 PM
Hi guys!
It has been a few crazy months for bitcoin and its price. Did that affected your gambling activities? Are you considering switching to for example Etherum?
What do you think is the greatest advantage and disadvantage of bitcoin gambling?
Yours OshiHugo, oshi.io casino CM

Ethereum is a mess for gambling. Te blockchain is too bloated. Casinos would be better off accepting Litecoin until the scaling thing resolves. Litecoin has everything a casino would need to quickly handle out payments, it already has segwit, a bigger blocksize which is not important for Litecoin because its not a store of value, and it also has Lightning Network teams working on it.

So casinos get your shit together and start accepting LTC.
491  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin go under 2000 dollars until august 1? on: July 11, 2017, 04:14:54 PM
Will bitcoin go under 2000 dollars until august 1?
I'm planning on buying 1 whole bitcoin, but I don't have that much money. I only have 1950 around dollars.
Should I wait to buy a whole bitcoin or just buy 0.8 btc now?

Who knows? It may dip due the hardfork FUD, we might as well visit $2000.. i mean its possible.
But what's pretty much guaranteed is that, in the small possibility of a hardfork actually happening, the fork chain token will crash, and crash badly, so don't do the stupid mistake of selling legacy coins for forked (segwit2x) coins. As small guys the most rational scenario is possibly to just hold and see what happens.
492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex.com gona delist LTC !!! on: July 11, 2017, 03:18:42 PM
Not delist, but maintenance, in any case, these events can make the price dip, so if you are holding long term you might want to buy more on a possible dip because of this. I think LTC can hit 0.03 BTC but it sucks that I didn't hold for longer so now the gains aren't as attractive anymore and not worth the BTC risk for me. It may go to 0.1 for all I know, im just no sure how this will play out. If I buy it will be a smaller amount that I was originally holding. Let's hope the MIT countdown is not a scam.

Don't know if this will factor into the fight.

The news is saying Floyd Mayweather owes $200 million in back taxes from 2015.

https://www.bloodyelbow.com/2017/7/8/15941822/floyd-mayweather-owes-irs-2015-taxes-asks-for-installment-plan-conor-mcgregor-boxing-news

I think Floyd filed for bankruptcy twice. Could be painful if he files for a 3rd time. Especially with him getting older and boxing becoming less of an option.

Floyd is supposed to have near 1 billion if you count everything including all his real state. Im sure he has had some IRS problems because everyone that gets super rich gets IRS problems even if you are trying to do everything right. I mean I can only imagine dealing with so much money that you get an headache trying to control everything you own. Well I wish that was my problem instead of having to pay bills.

Anyway here is a new video with Conor using more mindgames and talking shit about the IRS thing:

Mayweather only fights people he knows he can beat (including women). This fight is a joke and anyone who appreciates boxing can see it for what it is. A money making pantomime, thought up by two of the biggest wankers in sport.

I think this is nonsense. I appreciate boxing and I have been boxing myself since I was very young and I always have been a fan of the technical aspect and mastery of Mayweather of the boxing game. Sure this fight is not a "real boxing fight" but sometimes it's cool to see these strange crossover fights and this one is huge due the 2 big personalities. Mayweather is risking a lot more than people ar realizing. He is risking his entire legacy on this fight. Conor McGregor is dangerous and you can't take him for granted even if Mayweather is lightyears away boxing skills wise. This is no walk in the park even if he should win.

Of course I can also appreciate the fight between the two. I'm also a long boxing fan myself. And it's really cool to see them both in the ring squaring it out. Eventhough this is just for the money, I love to see how Mayweather will react to Connor's tactics so its gonna be a helluva fight and the boxing fans will go crazy in this one if Mayweather will got his first defeat. (Actually this is the only reason fans go on his fight, to see him loose). Grin

I watch Mayweather fights for his technique, it's only casuals that watch the fights to see if he loses or not (that is another exciting aspect but the people that only watch it because of that are clueless casuals)

If you want to see a pure boxing fight then don't miss the Canelo vs Golovkin fight coming soon.

497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How does Decred claim to fix the current Bitcoin problems? on: July 10, 2017, 12:37:58 PM
Decred claims to have found the solution for the Bitcoin governance problem. Of course whenever I hear someone claiming to have fixed what Bitcoin can't, I think it's a scam. Upon further research they seem to use a PoS/PoW hybrid solution in which voting happens.

I can't keep up with so much stuff right now so I would like anyone to explain to me why Decred is worth anyones time and money.

Mindless shills don't try to sell me your bags because they you are obvious to me.

I don't get Decred governance model, it's based on assumption that PoS and PoW groups will balance each out on making compromise decisions. Theoretically thats possible. But in practice miners would be still biggest PoS stakeholders. Or I am missing something?

Looks like they are being naive in thinking this will not get gamed when (if ever) Decred gets as big as Bitcoin. I don't believe the idea is new enough to replace bitcoin. We have already seen PoS/PoW hybrid solutions with reputation mechanism and I don't think it's robust enough to think this is a so called bitcoin killer.

Has anyone noticed that the original upload of the full video is now deleted?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAcOnvOVquo

That is the original URL, and they have deleted it or put it on private or something... strange.

It contained the entire conference of 8 hours with some other people that I wanted to hear.

Maybe they didn't like the huge amount of dislikes the video had?

You're a nutjob, you know that? The original vid was a day-long livestream. They pulled it when they cut it up into 1 speaker <> 1 video chunks. Sorry to crumple your tinfoil hat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgqtcu0zo-k

They could have left the entire stream there for those that want to see the entire thing, but it had tons of dislikes, tons of negative comments, and generally made it look badly.

Notice how they have disabled comments on the new videos? looks like im right.
