483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fundamental fee / security issue in bitcoins future? on: April 05, 2013, 04:32:59 AM
Am I correct in my calculations that only between 1 and 2% of what miners are earning is currently coming from fees? (roughly based on this chart: http://blockchain.info/charts/transaction-fees ) and the current (I think?) 3600-coins-per-day inflation rate.
484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] simple litecoin price widget for android on: April 05, 2013, 12:01:43 AM
new in version 9:
- support for estimated values in 8 different old-world currencies, courtesy of rate-exchange.appspot.com. old-world currency exchange rates are cached for up to an hour.
- ability to choose between three text colors; hopefully this helps those who were having trouble seeing text on a light background
- fix crash in some old versions of android (due to SharedPreferences.Editor.apply)
485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPCoin is now third only to Litecoin and Bitcoin for market cap! on: April 04, 2013, 06:09:39 PM
Better spend it before it generates worthless unspendable stake coins.  Grin  I have a big cache of it right now, still waiting to see how high it goes before I dump it.
Coins generated from stake are unspendable?

Transaction fees are 0.01 per kb, but in many cases (small sums of PPC) the stake generated per block is many magnitudes less than this quantity.  These micro quantities of PPC pile up over time, bloating your input transactions when you try to spend them and resulting in more fees to spend the inputs than the inputs are collectively worth.

Hmm.. that sounds like a problem. What does Sunny say about this?

That said, I would be concerned if Roman wasn't making enough profit for himself to make this be worth his while.
That is my concern as well - that he has lost inspiration for the project.  It would suck to work hours a day on something that you won't see payouts on for four years.  But I know people do that all the time, so...

I think it would be reasonable for him to split the revenues 50-50; take half for profit or further business development, and use the other half to make regular payments on the lost coins.

(full disclosure: I own a fair amount of bitfloor debt)
487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRC - thoughts on my meme? on: April 04, 2013, 05:59:51 PM
this is what I made.  since I made it PPC went haywire and doubled.  I just want to know how many Ppc are actually out there to understand what's going on

PPC actually contains some new ideas and significant differences from bitcoin. TRC is just another clone, not much different from litecoin from what I can tell.

Just downloaded this. Thanks man.. when I resize it though it does get bigger but the text doesn't.

Hmm.. I don't know how to resize the widget. I have Android 4.2.2, and I tried the long-click-and-drop method but no resizey knobs appeared. It would be a lot easier to address this issue if I could test it out myself.
492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] simple litecoin price widget for android on: April 03, 2013, 08:40:05 PM
new in version 8:
- when exchange is unreachable, continue to display previous result (and time) instead of overwriting with 0
- add estimated dollar amounts to coins which don't trade in dollars. If a price is an estimate, it is marked with an asterisk
493  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BitFloor and international wire transfers on: April 03, 2013, 06:21:59 PM
Your bank should be able to ensure that the specified amount of money makes it to the destination. They should deduct the fees from your bank account balance, not from the transaction amount. Wire transfers are used to close on real estate deals, can you imagine how much of a pain it would be if you couldn't count on your bank to get the proper amount of funds to destination?

What is G5 money?
498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] simple litecoin price widget for android on: April 03, 2013, 02:37:13 AM
I just pushed versions 6 and 7.

new in version 7:
- fiiiiiine.. added mtgox support >:-)

new in version 6:
- when you click, only refresh the widget you clicked on (previously it refreshed all widgets)
- add support for namecoin and ppcoin
- fixed crash when api calls to the exchanges timed out or otherwise failed
- network updates moved to background thread
- shorter exchange names in widget (e.g. v'rex), making for prettier, more consistent coin graphic
499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NVC vs. PPC on: April 02, 2013, 06:19:57 AM
I thought NVC was based off of older PPC code when proof-of-stake wasn't actually working yet, but I just looked it up and maybe I'm wrong. Sunny King of PPC helped Balthazar patch something that was broke. My bad.

I do see posts saying it is a scam coin though because 200k coins were pre-mined before it was released to public? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=143221.msg1518622#msg1518622

This site also says there was a big premine in NVC:

500  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptocoin Mining Information -- find the most profitable coin to mine! on: April 02, 2013, 06:18:22 AM
dustcoin is permanently bookmarked in my head -- really useful site, thanks.

Where do you get your pricing information? vircurex? bitparking? btc-e?

Thanks.
