484  Economy / Economics / Re: Zimbabwe will be the first national economy running on bitcoin only on: September 05, 2013, 09:53:45 AM
I martered my head about the mechanics. I came to the conclusion, that the biggest problems must be:
- who will give Bitcoins for kenyan money? Why should he? Kenyan Money will loose value, bitcoin will gain value.
- who will give Kenyan Money for bitcoins? Why should he? You can't buy anything with bitcoins in kenya, and you even can't change it against the kenya money (sorry, too lazy to open wikipedia).

1. You believe no one will buy kenyan money for bitcoins because bitcoins is better as they don't loose value but gain value?
2. You believe no one will buy bitcoins for kenyan money because kenyan money is better as you can't buy anything with bitcoins in kenya?

You are arguing against your self.

1. When people need food, they will buy food for bitcoins or buy kenyan money for bitcoins and then buy food.
2. When people have much kenyan money, they will buy bitcoins and use it as a store of value.

You can save files directly on the device's internal storage. By default, files saved to the internal storage are private to your application and other applications cannot access them (nor can the user). When the user uninstalls your application, these files are removed.

Look at Ask Sum before August 2012 and April 2013 crashes:

Still plenty of room for a spike UP  Cool

Yea, but ask sum below 50k is risky territory. I don't doubt possibility of rapid price spike up, but a mega crash will surely follow.

Wasn't that around the time when pirateat40 was messing with his stolen coins on the order book?

The August 2012 crash from 15 to 8, after a raise from 5, was when pirateat40 dumped "his" coins. The price was at 10+ soon after.
The April 2013 crash from 266 to 50 came after a raise from 13.

Yes, we will get a new crash. But the price must be much higher than this before anyone will dump a large amount of coins. I guess the upcoming crash will bottom out at 200+ and then stabilize at 300+.

Are you so sure about the "weak hands" running out of coins? Looks more like the "weak hands" are running out of people to hold the bags.

The number of coins for sale is going down. The same happend last summer when the price went from 5 to 15 and at the start of this year. It's happening again.

488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: finally bitcoin +12,000 fast food restaurants = mainstream on: September 03, 2013, 05:25:07 PM
Can anyone persuade http://www.just-eat.com/ to take bitcoins?

They have takeaway restaurants in 14 countries.

I don't see very large buys on those screenies.

5k on Gox and 1.5k on Stamp is about 10% of the ask orders. I'm happy with that  Cheesy

Edit: Please explain how on the jump from 130-140+ I was able to buy in fully with my gbp holdings @ 85£ (131$) while the USD market was already at 136$ for a few mins?

With todays exchange rate a sell order at 85£ would show up at 132.0985 * 1,025 = 135.4009625 in the USD market.

Gox could have used an exchange rate so the order showed up above 136 USD.
491  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: September 03, 2013, 12:40:57 PM
It works like this.

In my example 1 EURO = 1.50 USD and Mt.Gox adds a 2.5% exchange fee between currenies.

I place a ask order @ 12.00 USD. This order will also show up at 8.2 EURO. (12 / 1.5 * 1.025)
I place a bid order @ 11.50 USD. This order will also show up at 7.475 EURO. (11.5 / 1.5 * 0.975)

When most orders are placed in USD, it will give a bigger spread at the EURO market because of the 2.5% exchange fee.

If I then place a ask order @ 8.40 EURO, it will show up at 12.915 USD. (8.40 * 1.5 * 1.025)

It's the same orders and the same actors on all Gox markets.

I'm sorry that's just not true they're different markets, you're thinking about funding I think

No, you are wrong.

Interesting, at exactly the same time that 1262 btc buy was initiated on the USD market, an 883 btc buy was triggered on the euro market. Maybe someone had a bot configured the moment someone buys hard on the USD market?

It's the same market.
