Could this have anything to do with the recent sell off?   Huh
No. The recent sell off has been caused by finding out that BFL is a scam and there will be no ASIC.

So after numerous scams, now we also have a murder here. That's wonderful!

Guys, I think we should stop asking questions. It could be.... unhealthy. To our health.

Consider this:

Sonny is a decidedly Italian name.

Vleisides is a decidedly Grecian name.

It follows logically that his origins are in Calabria, Italy.

Combining this information and the fact that he was running a 1930s mobster style numbers racket it follows that this is a 'Ndrangheta operation.

And he has made us an ASIC we can't refuse.

Dank, dude, this leads nowhere. Maybe you should lock the thread and seek financial help elsewhere.

In my personal view it didn't go from "it's a scam" to "it's legit," either.
It didn't start out with "it's a scam," it started out with "BFL is employing someone with a criminal background in an unknown job function," and that is ALL anyone knew about this. Sonny being the CEO, being in charge, violating his parole by accepting funds directly, or having control of the money or company and able to run off with anything, was never anything but speculation.
That "unknown job function" changed to "He's not the CEO, or in control of money, and all funds are protected using standard corporate controls and business banking practices," which, to me, means Sonny's past history, or current involvement, is irrelevant.

However, this only means that I can trust this business as much as I can trust any other online hardware business that has a history of selling products.
I'm sorry, but your carelessness worries me. I don't understand how you can trust a scammer just because he said something in an interview. What did you expect him to do? Of course he tried to refute all accusations (saying that he's not the CEO and he doesn't handle money in BFL etc). He would be a poor scammer if he didn't. If I was a scammer, I'd do the same thing.

Yes, there is a non-zero chance that BFL is legit. It is up to everyone to decide how high this chance is, but after everything that happend in this community, I'd expect long time members to be more careful.

I like how the general opinion has changed from 'BFL is a scam!!!' to 'everything seems legit' so quickly.
488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much can we stand? on: September 23, 2012, 07:06:43 PM
Classic flick and it's unlikely to suffer a crappy remake Smiley Yep, ENOUGH of the scam accusations. Chances are out of 100 dodgy looking investments there's at least 1 or 2 that will make it big and cover the others.

That is naive.  If you invest in 100 high risk but legit deals the odds are the 1 or 2 will pay for the 98 or 99.  That is essentially what venture capitalists do.  However if you invested in 100 Pirate ponzis you will lose 100 times.    To use an analogy it would be like pretending that if you are involved in 100 muggings at least 1 or 2 will be profitable enough for muggings to be +EV for the victim.
Finally someone who can actually use his brains. Thank you. My faith in this community has been restored.

Yeah, it would be funny to meet other Bitcoiners in person (not just Dank, but Bitcoiners in general). It's a shame that most of the community lives in the US.

Nobel prize can only be awarded to a living person. And since you can never determine whether an anonymous person is alive, I guess you can't award an anonymous entity a nobel prize. I could be wrong, though.

Hoh tolboton Xox tolbton by Altan Urag (Mongolia)

ok this warrants further investigation, loving the theme.
The vid is from a Russian movie Mongol. And the track is a soundtrack of that movie.

We'll hit a bottom of $10 in january and a bottom of $20 around september next year.
That's what my charts are saying.
This is interesting. How did you figure that out?
(I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just curious.)
499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mining reward on: September 19, 2012, 09:27:41 PM
I would like Bitcoin to start over new, but solely because I wish I was an earlier adopter. I wish I could by bitcoins for three cents each or so...
But overally, I believe Satoshi did a good job and so far, it's been working great.
500  Economy / Speculation / Re: Raise in value on: September 19, 2012, 09:17:07 PM
I want to invest but wonder if its too late...wish I would have heard about these earlier on. Just wondering what would happen when the difficulty increases and the payment halves for miners.  And what if miners all go on strike or stop mining due to electrical cost and decreased pay.
In my opinion, it is not too late. The price is bound to rise in the long run. With the reward drop and some miners closing their rigs, I expect the price to rise much more. However, there are also other factors to count in. In short term it's mainly ASIC, in long term there are various scams, crashes of infrastructre or effects of bad publicity, but that's another story...

Long story short, if you believe in Bitcoin like we do, buy your first bitcoins now. You're still an early adopter!

By the way, welcome to the forum and welcome to Bitcoin. Please, don't mind all the trolls and idiots here.

Also, be careful who you deal with. Don't lend bitcoins to people you don't know. Not even to those who look very trustworthy. Don't trust people with VIP, Donator, Hero member and other similar tags more than you would trust someone with a newbie tag. VIP and Donator tags are sold for a few bucks. Scammers often donate this small amount of money to buy trust of other member of the community. But I digress once more...

Anyway, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
