4841  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 6 Vs Antminer S7, which one you will choose? on: October 28, 2015, 08:11:37 PM
actually since avalon didnt have big volume they didnt needed to mine. They almost build stuff in just in time. But yeah they could mine with it its normal. So they dont lose cash.

It appears to be big volume this time around.  In one thread Mr. Lee said he bought 3PH in Avalon gear.  A few sales like that and it's not low volume.

Will be interesting to see what bitmain does in reaction.
4842  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: good places to hide paper wallet ? on: October 28, 2015, 07:08:24 PM
i think the best place to hide the paper wallet is your real life wallet or a safe which no one would know how to unlock

Unless you have 2 or 3 other backups i would not 'hide' there.
Because the personal real life wallet can be exposed everywhere.
And even while you are sleeping someone that know that you have bitcoins can steal it.

I think wallet is a pretty bad spot overall.  If someone picks your pocket... and you lose a backup that would suck.  Just not enough security.

I like safes, safty deposit box, something with good security.

When does legendary happen? I'm at 952. Am I just unlucky or what? lol

You would be unlucky - "You are guaranteed to become Legendary somewhere between 775 and 1030 activity,"

4844  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Mining on Rapberry PI on: October 28, 2015, 07:02:37 PM
Hello everybody:)

Knowing that the raspberry pi only supports USB 2.0 hub (and not 3.0), i was wondering if this limitation would impact the mining performances...

Cheers,

Jeff.

No, the actual data transfer over the USB port is small. It could probably be handled with USB 1.1. USB 3.0 is complete overkill in terms of transfer rate.

The only thing is some usb 3's tend to have more power for usb sticks it would be nice.  But RPI does not like a lot of powered hubs and usb 3.0 at all.

But if usb hub needed for U3's you can use cheap no power usb hubs to RPI.  And you will have no issues with it.
4845  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain on: October 28, 2015, 07:00:23 PM
More so just curious to what they are doing.

Perhaps a different heat sink method for the S7..

Read over in speculation - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1219211.0

There is a big rumor going around that there might be a new S7 design.  We cannot be for sure yet.  But the person it came from is a pretty good source.
I didn't think this would be a replacement just a new line to go with the current design as well.

If they have 2 at once that would be a little hard. I mean do you the S7 unless they call it S7+ or something would change name of line.  I mean I doubt they want to call it S7- or even lite, just does not sound powerful or keep with naming.

I'm pretty curious to see what they do.
4846  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: October 28, 2015, 06:57:48 PM
It was just under 100 when I first connected, and only 140 now. Is it that they have only shipped a few or have people not got round to plugging them up. I can't believe that the majority of people have worked out how to change the Pool?

Why wouldn't you think the majority switched the pool?  It is apparently very simple to do, someone figured it out and posted here within the first week or so the device was released.  This website is one of the world's largest repositories of bitcoin know-how, so most people that mine probably visit this site.

I get what you are saying about the initial setup and all that, but you made an assumption about how the stat is being reported so maybe your assumption is incorrect.

I would assume the majority have switched pools, since you can go through this thread and see almost everyone who commented said it was lame that it's set to mine on Bitmains antsolo pool and that they would change it if they had the device.  When I get mine I am configuring it to mine elsewhere right away, I do not want to mine for Bitmain at all or use any of their pools.

Considering they talked in invetviews about like dream to do the device, or something I think they would have sold a lot more then they did.  It seems they ran out. I think some switched to ck solo pool most likely.  But I would guess at least 1/2 kept antminer pool.  Just as I don't see over that moding them yet.

So they sold I'm guessing around 200-250 maybe.   I'm speculating I could be wrong.  I just don't think it was the thousands like I would have thought before.  I suspect shipping was a factor.
4847  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: October 28, 2015, 06:54:36 PM
I know that information is probably here somewhere, but can someone recommend:
1. a good hub for this stick or maybe two.
2. point to a link (btctalk) that explains what needs to be done to run it. I have both Macs and Pc (win eight), but would prefer running it on a mac, but if it is easier on win8, I would do that instead.
the word zadig does not ring any bells.

maybe it is too much to ask, but...
thanks

youtube "rbox setup"

It's almost 100% identical to setting up this stick, just use the miner program in the first post.

Also think about a RPI or run dedbian on a old desktop.  You will honestly be happy  for it.  No messing with drivers.

Linux with the compacs just works great.  I highly recommend this route vs windows.
4848  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: rumors of 3.5Th antminer S7 "lite" on: October 28, 2015, 06:52:02 PM
Ooooh this would be awesome!!!!

$1000 might still be out of the price range :S, Sad, but who knows maybe not when I get bonous.
I hope it is at 1000$ and not more, I would be pretty psyched about that.

If the S6 number of $1300 for 3.65 TH is correct, $1000 likely won't be in the cards. Unless of course Bitmain has "too many S7" sitting around (highly unlikely IMHO).
Hmm, well avalon 6 is more or less releasing on the 10th of November with that exact price, maybe Bitmain will try to undercut them.

the quoted price is from the reseller, which tends to be higher, besides, avalon always tried to maintain a premium-see 4.1 prices.
we shall see.
So we should expect the S7 lite lower in price than the avalon which is 3.65th/s for 1300$.

I would hope so, and I also have hopes for a nice coupon for those who ordered b2/b3 late (say, after 10/15) IF they would decrease per Th price substantially for S7 lite.
I have never bought a miner directly from Bitmain but if there are coupons and the price is decent this looks like it will probably be my first.

Very little chance of coupon.  I don't see them changing on it.  The B1 compensation was pretty crappy, they did not sound like coupons would come.

So best chance is price is good on coins and they don't jack up price.  And then you can order.  But coupon don't count on.
4849  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 6 Vs Antminer S7, which one you will choose? on: October 28, 2015, 06:50:23 PM
BlockC.co , I have never heard of them, I find it weird they have them before Itop shop and are using the beta pictures.

That and Canaan Creative doesn't have them on their site anywhere or mentions of the Avalon 6, I would definitely hold off on making a purchase. This could just be a nice site to take some cash (plus the price seems a bit wrong doesn't it?)

They say they are US seller. I really want Avalon (Canaan Creative) to verify before I would order there.

I don't think holding off will be a problem at the moment I think they wanted purchase of 10 which means most likely a group buy.  Hopefully it's lowered from 10 once they carry stock.
I checked the whois and it looks like it was registered the 8th of August, kind've odd avalon would do this with such a new company but whatever, the page on the avalon gives a bit more details, they won't have their first batch until November 10th, "We expect our first batch of Avalon6 miners to arrive at our California datacenter by November 10, 2015." This is the same date that is rumored for the S7 lite to release as well, if this price is correct, I think I avalon might have a bit of trouble with them if Antminer S7 lite releases at 1000$ usd on the same day.

One of the most interesting things is "Note: Minimum order quantity is currently 10.".  On E-Hash I do not remember 4.1's having a minimum quantity.   I liked not having a min quantity.

I do think S7 lite if it comes out will go head to head with Avalon 6.  And eventually there should be a few more home miners.  But having more then one company selling gear honestly will help us home/hobby miners.

In Mr.Lees thread I think he mentioned twords end of month being shipped on his 3PH he talked about... so we could see a big jump if to many sales like this with Avalon.

Ok all. To clarify everything, I contacted Xianfu to get some updates on the Avalon6 and also to talk about buying chip for Sidehack project. Xiangfu refer me to Sean the CEO of BlockC. SO this is totally legal. BlockC is the official reseller. If you want to check, check on the blog of BlockC, there is some pictures of Sean and Avalon Team together in San Fransisco.

MOQ is 10 because company dont want to manage multiple customer. Doing this will make there lives easier and our more complicated.  Tongue

Im in direct contact with Sean and Xiangfu if you have any question .  Wink
Do you happen to know if they are mining on them as they get them? "Batch one will reach their data center on nov 10th" makes it sound like they are mining on them asap and shipping them out when they get their orders.

Normally on batches they are plugged in until they sell.  It's the same with Bitmain.  If they don't sell for a while they mine them.

They lose value sitting in a box, some call it "burn ins".  But it's normal to have them ran till sold.
4850  Other / Meta / Re: Banned and negatived for Signature Campaign? on: October 28, 2015, 03:52:36 PM
ohk can i ask you a question?

1) is having alternate can get you ban?

if yes then i am gonna get auction for my alternate and donate it to forum to whom it actually belongs.

see i am announcing publicly coz i dont want to hide things like other do.

If i post any off-matter topic then i accept my ban .  Smiley

It is not something you accept on a ban like it's optional.  It is a punishment that you have to take, they don't ask you to accept it as you have to.

And I reading right you sare saying you have another account that is currently banned?   If so today all the posting outside of meta not dealing with that ban is ban evasion.  Read up on it it is in most cases perma ban.

Mods are pretty smart and deal with ban evasion seriously, you will not sneak by them doing it.
4851  Other / Archival / Re: Why I sold my S5 :/ on: October 28, 2015, 03:44:06 PM
matt,

from your username you are the same individual who bought an S5 off ebay from me and cancelled after the auction ended prompting me to have to repost the item (luckily I got a higher price...so no worries).

You flooded my ebay message box with all sorts of questions pertaining to the S5 and even stating "you would not pay unless these questions were answered" ..... where upon I answered them and yet you continued to repeat the same questions. After 3 days of this I ignored your ebay messages and than you cancelled your order. I am assuming you bought from somewhere else since you said you bought an S5 and now resold because of the noise.

I am reading this thread and you are asking the same questions without doing ANY research at all hoping for someone to do the work for you. It has been stated many times over how loud the S5 is if you scroll through posts or google.

I would advise other members to stop answering his questions because you are just enabling him to find nothing himself.

If true that would be a pretty crappy thing to do.  Always do research before buying, and ROI math.

That is one bad thing about ebay is some miners I sold I did "free" tech support I did not plan on.  One or two I tought new miners how to mine... its kinda a pain but normally I got better prices off ebay compared to board here.  So it's kinda part of the expected things is everyone in a while someone buys a miner and does not know about mining.

Never had one tell me they had question before they would pay.   That is a new one.
4852  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New to Mining need help ! on: October 28, 2015, 03:38:22 PM
I suggest doing some reading on mining.  Really Bitcoin mining is sha256 mining.  And most altcoins worth anything is scrypt.

But most new gear is base on mining BTC.  So it by far is the most common at this point.  As far as getting started you really need to look at gear out there.  Do some ROI math, and choose what you want to buy.

But you need to make a budget.  Also be aware most "free" don't have a ton of extra electricity so don't go crazy ordering a ton of miners to start. If you tell us more about electricity we can tell you more about how much you can handle.

I worry about pumping 800 Watts through a PSU that's rated 850 Watts.

In theory, you should have no issues with pumping 800W sustained out of an 850W power supply. 50W is a decent margin.

In practice, Corsair RM 850 for example.

So an HX850 should be fine, the only difference I see is that the RM850 is fully modular while the HX850 is partially modular.

RM or HX are both pretty high quality PSU's as far as Corsair's models.   I like the RM series just as I have used so many RM1000's but that is personal preference.

After looking at PSU's lately I think I would look into server PSU's.  A lot of them really are quite a bit cheaper.  It's honestly kinda nice after getting use to using them.
4856  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: rumors of 3.5Th antminer S7 "lite" on: October 28, 2015, 03:16:14 PM

still too big for my taste, it's only 1/4 less bigger, they should aim for 1/2 at least

for those that can't run a big miner in their home, and want to do only occasional mining activity

Doubt there's much profit available for them in a single hash board miner. Still gotta have a frame, controller, and fan - and that would make it very difficult to impossible for them to keep the price/TH competative.

It would actually be 1/3'd less presuming the "2 hash board of current design instead of 3" concept is what they pick.

"integrate the PSU" is not a good idea, way too many variations on size for PS used to power miners.

I suspect folks wanting a "small" miner are going to have to wait for whatever comes out of the Gekkoscience projects - and hopefully SOMEONE will start being willing to sell them chips on a reasonable basis soon in current-gen chips.
Intergrated psu is a terrible idea and yeah hopefully Gekkoscience gets this gen chips soon and we will see some neat projects from him but it does look like home miners are about to hit the scene.

Depends on price of it I think.  Some hated it but I always had good luck with S4's. I loved that it was all in one.   Just the ease of use to be sit it up with no plugging in or doing really anything is nice.

But I agree like on my S5+ where it was a heck of a lot of PCIe cords it's nice that I could pick out the PSU's.   Makes it pretty nice on that miner.
4857  Other / Archival / Re: Why I sold my S5 :/ on: October 28, 2015, 03:13:41 PM
Thanks for the feedback everyone! I want to get me something small they will make w little money and does not run hot and loud. Something I can run in my room or a extra room any ideas?

i think you should simply try to change the fan, after all the noise come from there, when this is done you can use any miner you want

i would go with the new s7(lite version) which is very efficient, and smaller than the big s7

The only thing is I predict it to run loud.   Even if they do have a lite coming out and go to 2 blades .   I don't see it being quiet.

And now the warranty is so tough if you mod fan's on bitmain gear you lose warranty.  So I'm not sure I would go with a new miner if he will be modding chances are.  just a high dollar item to lose warranty on.
Just keep the fans, there is no way they would know and they won't security sticker the hell out of it due to big warehouses needing to replace fans all the time.

The thing is if they catch you on a miner that has warranty and you removed any security sticker, or changed out fan.   They have tightened warranty up A LOT.

You have to ask bitmain to do pretty much anything at this point. I would not trade out fan's till 90 day's warranty is over.  It's just not worth it.

So today i logged in to my other account, and this nice looking red text was there waiting for me:
http://kepfeltoltes.hu/151027/1324374906N_vtelen_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.png
I was in the YoBit sig campaign, and haven't seen this happen before.
I wqas in that campaign for more than a month! And it decided to happen now.
[ right]The username is photoshopped Wink[/right]

You are not baned for campaigns you are banned from the forum. This includes all your accounts.

Yeah your only that account is banned from the forum but shorena i dont think all accounts are banned.. Actually i also went throught that kinda ban Grin but i still was able to log in from my alternate that i had created way back earlier

All your accounts are banned when one is. Just because the admins might miss your alts doesn't mean they're ok to post from. You're lucky you didn't have your ban extended or worse. Many users get perma banned for evading their bans.

I posted to warn OP about not posting outside of meta, as so many seem to do it.  He is still posting outside of meta today:  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion

So this really is evading ban and knowing the rules just does not care it seems.

I just checked my account, it's still 2 weeks, and it will expire in a day. I only needed this account to finish some deals I started, that's why I was posting in Services and project Development

It does not matter what reason is you cannot post out of meta during ban.    I suggest stop before you get in deeper. There is already good chance you are banned permanently once this is dealt with.
4860  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Faucets on: October 28, 2015, 02:33:35 PM
They ARE worth it ... BUT ... only in the beginning when your new to Cryptos.
Its better to learn with 'dust' the value of :
1/ typing the right address in the right spot.
2/ what web wallets are for, and what real wallets are for.
3/ fees.

Remember, there are 2 kinds of mistakes.
an Ooops ... charges you a fee and you accidentally move nothing.
an Oh-S#*T ... its gone !
Faucets let you learn the difference and how to avoid both.

That being said, I still use 5 faucets, earning about 150000 satoshi a day. (helps with fees)

Well this is right, i use faucet is only for pay miner fees on my wallet, besides it, faucet is good try for beginners to understand about how bitcoin send/receive, transaction works and other thing which can be used when you tru to trade some coins.

That is a lot of time to do though for fee's that in most cases are in the cents.  To spend that much time on a faucet for cents a hours is not good time management.

Does not really matter what you do with the faucet money.  It just is to slow to  amount to anything worthwhile.
