People downloading the chain first time will leave the computer running for a month later on  Your internet provider will be outraged and cancel your contract if you're a bitcoin user it is simple, if you don't want the fork ... don't *follow* it . i don't see me downloading 2.8GB every day just to sync up - and i know almost nobody will do that, that's why gavincoin will be the loosing fork (that was the basic point of the thread)

yes, that's what people said in the beginning of 2014... I think after the halving , the price will surely rise. We have only to wait, and *hope*. Many people agree on this one, but even after the next halving, with bitcoin price at about 220$ , it would still require 400,000 $ new money each and every day too keep the price stabile. To be honest, i think that time for 10x profits on bitcoin is over, we all had our shots, some bought, some did not, same thing goes with profits. The best we can hope is another few months hype so we can sell >500$, and then again year or two of decline before another pump. Yes , this is obvious. We will never see again 1k dollars per bitcoin. The past bitcoin pump it was only an *high* chinese manipulation. |

Yes of course you are free to do whatever you want , if the devs will make this hard fork only those who want will follow it (#decentralization). it's not decentralisation but fragmentation fragmentation is a part of decentralization, it is not a drama ... only 20 mb per block. |

I think that a banned usergroup would be a good idea, rather than the sort of shadow-bans currently in effect. Bitcointalk is actually one of the few sites I've seen that only shadowbans, rather than banning the user and placing them in the "banned" group.
Yeah , Exactly mate if you know someone is banned, then you could make a new account and impersonate them, or attempt to get them punished for ban evasion.
But BadBear got a point here ... Bitcointalk do allow using Proxies, Vpn's , Tor and multiple accounts ... Other forums that show banned people don't allow such a thing so it's kinda make sense . by charging users who register accounts over a proxy/VPN/Tor? I thought I read somewhere that if an account is registered over one of these services, a fee needs to be paid before the account can be used. No I don't think. The use of tor , and the various proxy/vpn is not forbidden. If someone register an account from tor they *must* pay a little fee or he cannot post or send pm. |

Well, the Bitcoin blockchain you know and love so much is going into the ashbin of history and is going to be replaced by a new blockchain called Bitcoin. OP is being a whiny baby about it because he's too lazy to update. Well, that's not true. The old bitcoin chain everyone loves right now will continue to be mined and function normal and the original Bitcoin will live on. Gavincoin is a stupid fork of it and the supporters of that fork are going to try to tell the noobs it would be 'Bitcoin' but it won't be - everyone who isn't totally blind can see that. Gavincoin supporters will even deny the existance of the original Bitcoin as is already seen here on the thread. The fork consists only to "rise" the block size from 1 MB to 20 MB, it is not a drama. Well, for some it appears idiotic at this point in time. We don't need to discuss it actually. Everyone just supports the chain he/she likes. The only thing that's certain is: Gavincoin won't be able to call itself 'Bitcoin' I think also with the fork it will be called "bitcoin" , why gavinCoin? If you will not want follow the fork, good ... rest in the actual chain. |

You made my day . However I think we need the hardfork, let see if all the bitcoiners will follow it or not. Of course! I am PRO raising the limits especially when there are no arguments besides the minor technical limits of a bloatchain which can be solved. I am also a hobbyist miner and I think that trying to impose higher fees with a 1MB block limit is simply retarted. Because Bitcoin may go to 10$ and we will be again in this position where the miners will barely afford to run miners.I think the same, who is supporting the bitcon network (blockchain) ? Obviously the answer is " The miners*". This hard-fork will "obligate" all the other bitcoiners to pay an adeguate fee for a "fast" confirm of the transaction. |

Why do you need to know when someone else is banned? Well to answer BadBear , it's pretty simple , Sometimes we want to contact someone (a friend) on the forums and we see them banned ... we just don't bother our selfs , also to make deals , let's say someone is selling something and he got banned (he left his BTC adress on the thread and asked to send BTC then he send product) .. so we just don't send Bitcoin while he is banned etc ... a lot of things , it would be really useful to be honest Both Banning date , Banning reason should be also available on the Profile if you ask me PS : Note sure if we are able to use private message while we are banned or not . speaking TheoreticallyNo, when an user is banned he can't send/post anything here in the forum. He can only read... |
