If I use: "encryptmessage[space]Laser's pubkey[space]"message" -- doesn't work (for me)
Does this work for you ? Just copy and paste: With uncompressed pubkey is also working, try: encryptmessage 04c97d0030cd9054e9823ed911c26b94c1633f03bf3c46f277cb5cc49d717e71d46fa33d8202c95e900f1861532a01384504432edeeb5296f9558f06c08bebab41 "Don't panic." Yes. Thank you for your patience -- I had stored Laser's pubkey incorrectly. The aim here, Laser, is not just for you to teach me; but for me to be able to write instructions for our community. Having a Plan: 2019-2020 EDITED: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/42-coin/#markets -- Number 837. Let's work on that. Our community should have A Plan. So, we discuss things either 'front of house' or in PMs, and across the threads. Then some one updates this post.Encryption We are practising, on the ANN thread, with the 'encryption engine' in our wallet. It works -- I just need to learn how to use it properly. Paper-Wallet Generators No apologies here. There was some confusion about one of the generators. But Laser assures us that they are both (they are listed on Page One here) safe and functional. We'll continue to trial them both (with help from 'WB' over on Tgram). And will post a further report here. Markets I have finally decided to trade on altmarkets.io. It has a good review. And how do we get it listed on Coinmarketcap?Anonymous transactions We practised with 'long addresses' last year. And in 2020, we need to develop this important 42-coin asset.'Crypto Kindergarten' I am running a small project with a crypto kindergarten elsewhere (not 42-coin). IMHO: 42-coin should be the simplest, least technical crypto instrument on the Planet. Full stop. Our 'bigness' should be community, particularly helping newcomers.

... This is the confusion I mentioned before: is my address my pubkey? ]
Your address is = your pubkey (public key) + your privkey (private key). So, only the owner of the address can decrypt it. Tomorrow. Start all over again. Excellent progress today. Thank you for your patience Ane the terms, and the English: got to get those finely tuned, to avoid confusion.

https://i.imgur.com/7ZNmMG0.jpgOkay: One: I generate a new address. Two: I validate that new address -- and there is my pubkey! Three: I use that pubkey to encrypt a message, and I get 'X' -- the encrypted message. So far, I understand. But what confuses me is: to get a successful decrypt, I use: decryptmessage[space]ADDRESS (not privkey)[space]encrypted message ?? This seems as though the 'pubkey' is really the address?

That is, encrypt for your own use, Laser? (Like perhaps wallet passwords)
Or can another user decrypt a message? (So, person-to-person comms?)
Only the owner of pubkey can decrypt the message. So, for person-to-person comms you need to exchange the pubkeys with each other. My pubkey is here: https://github.com/42-coin/42/blob/master/src/alert.cpp#L19"// TestNet alerts pubKey static const char* pszTestKey = "0478e8527f136beb39e4398d0e71feb76720709988cebcf070a6fd21b3dd4511e3ccd2510d7ea2a 19d281f2bda8d7856e4b8092b25e65c22a7bcfd98e32c216a8c";" So, this is you, L.? And ah! 'Only the owner of pubkey can decrypt the message. So, for person-to-person comms you need to exchange the pubkeys with each other.' EDIT: okay, 'Only the owner of the pubkey can decrypt the message.'

Built-in wallet encryption, easier than PGP (you can encrypt any text or hex data): That is, encrypt for your own use, Laser? (Like perhaps wallet passwords) Or can another user decrypt a message? Having a Plan Call me crazy, but I think our community should have A Plan. So, we discuss things either 'front of house' or in PMs, and across the threads. Then some one updates this post.We run Projects about encryption ( both in our wallet, and an 'encryption engine' that I know of), anonymous txes (!!), trading-volume/p2p ( Gonna push up my volume on XBTS -- come and trade there!!), exchange-reviewing, and ?? And IMHO: 42-coin should be the simplest, least technical crypto instrument on the Planet. Full stop. Our 'bigness' should be community, particularly helping newcomers. Start small: Who's noticed how up-to-date our Page One here is? Sweet! # Sigh: Cryptopia goes from Quarantine to Crypto-Exchange Heaven. # Do we have to swap the paper-wallet generator listed on Page One for the new one? Laser will report when this is done.

Whooo! This is what a paper-wallet sweep looks like. I still have a lot a lot to learn.

Okay, Laser will teach us some stuff about what we're doing here. But this is a second paper-wallet 'sweep': generate key-pair; send money to the address; wait for confirmation; enter the 'privkey'; hit 'Go'; and the coin appears back in your wallet. We gotta understand this as a security technique.

I shall get you guys to explain the GUI styles...
1. Create a shortcut of your 42-gt file. 2. Right mouse button click on shortcut, choose "Properties", in the field "Target" add: " -qtstyle=1" or " -qtstyle=2" (without quotes) and click on "OK". 3. Run your wallet by 2-click on the shortcut. Have been discussing adoption in relation to the complexity of cryptos. These are such good simple instructions. And I sure do understand what a radical suggestion it is, but I think this community whould focus on a super-simple model, and provide lots of simple instructions, and adoption assistance to anyone who finds their way to our door.
