@bobsag3,

Many thanks for letting BA customers on board the GB bus, in effect for free.

I'll be buying some gear from MinerSource in the future for sure!

OK, thanks guys, I'm impressed with your board design skills Marto Cool

I have ordered 2 * Technobit TPLinks to run 12 * HEX4M boards.

I will be tying all of my 12 boards ground planes to a common short lead earthing system (I will be scoping the boards out first to make sure they have a 0V groundplane, I'm pretty sure they do).

The 1:6 USB buses, is it necessary (recommended) to have them powered by one of the ATX PSUs that is powering a board, to prevent ground loop issues? edit: It's probably a good idea, I will be doing this.
503  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: TECHNOBIT support tread + customer feedback/240 GHS - 199 EUR - July shipment on: July 15, 2014, 02:08:14 AM
About HEX4M, from TECHNOBIT website:

Quote
Several boards can be chained to run off one USB host.

Does this mean that [2 * cgminer TPLINKs] will be able to run  [12 * HEX4M boards] without needing any USB hubs?

If it's possible then what is the cable type needed for the 10 * inter-board connections.

Looking at the board photographs I'm guessing it's all USB-MINI-B

504  Other / Off-topic / Re: Invest in silver or not? on: July 14, 2014, 02:29:39 PM
Best long term strategy is to diversify between PMs and bitcoin.

Many posts have mentioned these points already, but I love silver and so wrote my feelings on the matter:

Silver is undervalued

I think silver is undervalued at the moment.

SILVER:
Price per Oz of metal: $ 22
Total refined metal on planet: 45 BILLION Oz
Total market cap: $ 990 BILION

GOLD:
Price per Oz of metal: $ 1300
Total refined metal on planet: 4.5 BILLION Oz
Total market cap: $5850 BILLION

Why is it undervalued?

Reason being is because gold is currently mainly used for long term wealth storage. Whales deal in gold, the physical size of silver makes it more expensive to store when dealing in Billions of dollars worth.

Silver market currently has more industrial weighting.

Should the shit hit the fan then PMs will probably be used instead of cash, in that case silver price will increase (relative to gold) due to it's more useful and safer smaller denomination.

Silver is more fungible (easier to arrange a transaction with) than gold:

X = Paranoia level of person receiving 1Oz gold in a trade and giving considerable silver change.
Y = Paranoia level of person receiving 1Oz silver in a trade and giving smaller silver as change.

X > Y

What does this mean for the future of Silver?

Given its higher fungibility, we would probably see the gold/silver price change like:

(now) --> gold/silver = 0.017 ~= 2%
(shit hits fan) --> gold/silver ~= 0.1 ~= 10%

If a large gold holder converted all their holdings to all silver just before the shit hits the fan then they would be sitting pretty. And soon be holding much more gold after operating as a silver/gold changer. The initial flurry of changing would yield the highest % profit per week for their entire life.

It would be a Ferengi's wet dream. Cheesy

What if the shit never hits the fan?

There is shit in the air, it's not hit the fan yet, but many can smell it.

The Silver price will still probably rise as more minnows realise the hedging benefits of PMs.

In short the impetus that drives you to buy some silver rounds will also be driving others.

Oh and you will be holding a beautiful coin.

that cooler can shift 95w and I have kids but with some extra fans blowing in from the front and fans exhausting and a decent amount of gap between the board and back I believe that stock intel cooler will be more than enough for my needs Smiley plus will allow for a clean loolk.

kids Roll Eyes... yeah box it!

The extra fans to force cool the whole box sounds like a good idea.
506  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Minion Chip Assembly GB on: July 13, 2014, 02:01:50 PM
Hey guys,

What do you think of this cooler, will it be able to shift enough heat?

Notice it only has 2 heat pipes:

CLICK FOR IMAGE

Looks good don't worry about the 2 heatpipes cause the chip itself is very small.

Thanks, OK I will probably use some. But to dissipate 100W and keep the die "cool" takes a lot of cooler.

I may have to underclock on hot days Huh, but can probably run 400 GH/s per board in the winter maybe, cheap electric heater even if it's not turning profit Cheesy
507  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Minion Chip Assembly GB on: July 13, 2014, 01:54:48 PM
I'm thinking these so as I can mount the board horizontal in a old pc chassis with all the bays removed.

http://click.intel.com/internal-thermal-solutions.html

I don't think it could shift 100W, you may have to run underclocked with that cooler.

Boxing it up would be required in a busy lived in environment, especially with cats/kids etc.

But it's better to leave it as open board in a safe unlived in area. Especially because TechnoBit board has a giant aluminium heatsink on its base, you want good clean airflow around that.

I have a small spare room with a window and I'm going to rack the 12 boards up on shelf rails, the shelfs wont be like book shelves, they will not have a solid board base, they will be pairs of horizontal rails onto which the boards are fastened for better air circulation.

@marto74, thanks for providing this service! Cool

@all:

Well this is a good result for us and I think it's our best chance to make good with our BA orders.

I have a question:

To get 12 boards hashing could one use a single controller with a USB hub Huh

Or put another way: whats the cheapest way to get them all speaking to controller/s  Huh
510  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Minion Chip Assembly GB on: July 09, 2014, 08:00:23 PM
@bobsag3, Things are moving along nicely! Thanks for providing this service Smiley

I realise you are mad busy organising the group buy at the moment, so I'll just mention it here...

I would like to push my spare 4 chips onto @y_boonstra.

Is this possible and how/when should I do this?
511  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Minion Chip Assembly GB on: July 09, 2014, 02:11:56 AM

The question is how much could these completed (or just populated board) miners be sold for, in say six weeks?

I'm gonna say $300 a piece, without coolers or PSU. Does this seem about right?

Yes, probably around that ballpark figure.

Building up and configuring full tested plug-n-play miners with instructions may yield +ve ROI.
512  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Minion Chip Assembly GB on: July 09, 2014, 12:41:57 AM
Well I'm in, just sent PM to bobsag3 and got confirmation.
513  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Minion Chip Assembly GB on: July 08, 2014, 11:26:06 PM
Does anybody have 4 spare chips. this way i could get 2 full boards..

@y_boonstra

I will sell my 4 spares for 0.2 BTC ~= $120 at todays price.

Escrow deal.

514  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Minion Chip Assembly GB on: July 08, 2014, 08:24:49 PM
Does MS buying maybe byting those spare chips?

Are you asking:

Is minersource willing to buy our minion chips off us ( at a cheaper price than BlackArrow sells them for ) ?

I would also like to know this.

exactly that! Cheesy

You could maybe:

Start an auction thread for your 100 * minion chips, use escrow.

We have until thrusday to join this group buy.
515  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Minion Chip Assembly GB on: July 08, 2014, 08:05:42 PM
I think minersource is only sending out and we have to arrange delivery back to us. As they are not taking any payments from us that is the way I understand it.

I'm also in europe so this kills import from china fees for me also (which is nice!)

I'm guessing that 12 or 13 populated boards would be only a modestly sized squarish parcel, could get 2 day international shipping for a reasonable price.

Jeez though, 6KW of power needed, would push my house to the edge. sure would be a warm winter though, provided miners still pay electric bill by then.

So with 100 chips (x3 comp):

48 chips for minersource

48 chips for me

minersource take my 48 chips and populate them onto:

12 x Technobit HEX4M boards.

The 4 remaining chips I could pay minersource EUR_205 to give me a total of:

13 x populated Technobit HEX4M boards == 13 * 0.4 == 5.2 TH

with scope to overclock to ~6.2 TH

EDIT: yes it seems this is the deal after reading other thread, I will probably be PMing bobsaq.

If we accept this,do we have some more investments?

Without further investment you could only receive the populated boards for which you would have to pay shipping.

So pessimistically lets say those four extra chips pay for fast shipping, you would get:

12 * populated Technobit HEX4M boards == 12 * 0.4 == 4.8 TH  (overclock to ~5.7 TH)

These you could sell as almost ready to go miners.

Or you could buy PSUs and coolers and mine with them or sell them on as complete miners.

The question is how much could these completed (or just populated board) miners be sold for, in say six weeks?

519  Economy / Trading Discussion / Cortex7 - Bitcoin Trading Robot Software - Windows, Linux, Mac, Android. on: June 24, 2014, 02:04:20 PM
Hello fellow Bitcoin Traders.

I am hard at work developing Cortex7, a trading client for Bitcoin.

https://www.cortex7.net

It works with various exchanges and has a native code signed installer for many Operating Systems.

The interface is being designed to work well with desktop using mouse/keys, touchscreen tablets and even TV boxes (using joypad).

The idea is to have an app that can run 24/7 and just be used for trading, to give you some perspective: for testing I am using a cheap 7" Android tablet in a wall holster that is on 24/7 like a nice clock/trade station, it is constantly trickle charging, it gives alerts and notifications and can talk the realtime price out etc.

The initial public release will be in some months. I am starting this thread while still in development mode to let you experienced Bitcoiners see it first, any questions, feedback or suggestions are welcomed in this thread.

P.S. Thank you bitcointalk forum, for allowing users like me to post service support threads on this great forum.
