501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Next Freicoin Difficulty on: January 17, 2013, 11:28:12 PM
It seems that the network has slowed down some more. There are about 60 blocks being found a day at the moment. Looking at Coinotron over the last 19 blocks they have found 1 in 4.47 blocks meaning that Coinotron is finding 22% of blocks. As Coinotron over the last 24 hours has had 9GH on FRC we can speculate that the total current hashpower for FRC is currently around 40GH hopefully putting the difficulty even lower for the next change.

So my calculations put it on 13 days till next difficulty adjustment (29th jan) ... and difficulty should be in the 3,000-4,000 mark??

this kind of thing makes me REALLY glad that TRC has very quick difficulty readjustment. if it takes 1-2 months for a coin to come back down after a drastic difficulty overshoot it can be quite a damper on miner interest in the coin.. while if its only 2-4 hours then its meh.. just wait a little bit.

That's very surprising to read Coinotron only gets 1/5 blocks.

The p2pool is has a decent hashrate.

Why is that surprising?

coinotron has only had 6-9gh/s on their FRC pool for a week now.
503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terra Coin on: January 17, 2013, 11:18:45 PM
hmm.. I was either having horrible luck... or somethign funky was going on when I was solo mining the other day. This has been my first day ever solo mining.. so i'm a bit of a noob at it.

1. using cgminer 2.10.1
2. using latest teraminer-qt as server
3. using coinotron as "pool 1"
4. 2.65 ghash or mining power

I was only getting about 1 block every hour or so (16 hour run).. which seemed quite a bit low as the difficulty range should be allowing for 40+ a day, based on what I was earning at coinotron PPS.. It was actually very consistent with a block every 50-70 minutes all night long.

There were a few times where cgminer.. right after startign (within 5 minutes) would show a "best share" of 3k... 9k.. etc but no blocks were mined and no output showed for anything being found. I personally saw that happen twice.

Is this kind of thing normal bad luck.. or is there a way to tell if I have a config issue at hand? In normal cgminer readout there would be a mix of "new block detected before longpoll" and "longpoll detected new block".. cgminer also reported that the local server was utilizing coinotron for LP.

In terms of config file.. i put in what you guys suggested earlier in this thread.

Thanks.

504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 6 Days till Avalon ASICS - Last Chance to buy your Alt Coin Cheap! on: January 14, 2013, 10:45:01 PM
Considering low hashrate of TRC and bitcoin-like Proof-of-Work algorytm, even one sigle asic holder will be able to 51% it. So I quit from them completely.
Don't know about PPC - there are PoS blocks. Don't know how can they affect the situation.

Litecoin is the one resistent. Yes, hashrate will rise dramatically, but I'm not a miner and I don't care.  Smiley

who the hell is going to mine TRC or other crypto minority if they get ASIC next week?
Not mine. Attack, fork the chain and get all the market capitalization, which is hundreds of bitcoins in case of PPC. And all that in less than a day.

the downside is that NOBODY will buy the coin anymore once its compromised. IT would more be a FU to the current stakeholders verses a profit motive for the attacker
505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRC more profitable to mine than LTC! on: January 13, 2013, 01:55:42 PM
Well I guess to be more profitable one needs the exchange to actually be open. My bad.

also remember the amount of orders on that site is STUPIDLY small.. it would take probably 4k of TRC selling to just crash the price 30% (at least it looked like that when the site was still up)

It's not so small considering how small the whole coin is at the moment. 4K of tRC selling would drop the price, but not by much. There is a good 8K of TRC between .083 and .08, not to mention people are trying to snap up huge loads all at once.

I'm more curious about the fast variability in the difficulty will do concerning price. Confirms at the moment are super quick, which is nice. I saw when I posted this the diff skyrocketed, but now it's back to where it was before. Maybe until a very large volume of people are mining diff won't play such a large part in the price?

i think it is a GREAT thing that difficulty adjusts every 30 blocks or so (whatever the # is). it means that when its "pumped" up.. its not a LOOONNNGGGG road until it corrects (like how it was a 2day/5day cycle for LTC in december when difficulty bounced all over). Now if mining doubles and halves constantly its like 30 minutes and 2 hours between adjustment.

In terms of price.. price is wayyy low and its unprofitable to mine.. mmk?

506  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Maybe everyone here will learn a lesson about pre-orders on: January 13, 2013, 01:49:13 PM
Essentially these pre-orders were just like how kickstarter works.... essentially you are not buying a product but giving the company money in hopes that they will come out with a product eventually..

still not the best idea...

Yes, exchange is down and difficulty is so high I can't belive it - just look at that spike at the end of the hashrate graph!

I blame OP Smiley

510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRC more profitable to mine than LTC! on: January 12, 2013, 10:31:54 PM
come on man.. why the heck would you EVER want to advertise this? I was enjoying the low difficulty..

*unamused*

..that said.. has the online exchange been down for a couple hours for anyone else?
511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPC/TRC exchange on: January 09, 2013, 11:44:48 PM
Can you withdraw TRC and LTC without using google authentication for your account?

No, and this is a good thing. Convenince leads to mistakes. It's a pain yes, if you don't have the Google Authentication, but it's better then having some script kiddie at starbucks steal your coins.

if somebody has an android phone.. once the google authenticator app is installed it literally takes like 1-2 minutes to set it up with the site. its amazingly easy.

They're offering a $50 gift card (amazon/newegg) for anyone who can help them out with a couple things:

https://litebit.co/bounty/

$50 each
1. show a 5 day moving avg of btc-e LTC price in a banner at the bottom of the page
2. help them with automatically creating LTC address for sending payment to

I'm sure someone here knows how to do that stuff...
518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DOTA2 Freicoin Auction Now 250FRC Starting Bid on: January 01, 2013, 01:25:19 AM

so hey guys....

has there EVER been another alt-coin that was so freaking controversial before?

This just seems to be pretty rediculous how much garbage and hate is being thrown around.

If you dont like how its ran.. than dont buy it or mine it.. ITS THAT SIMPLE.
