5021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hash rates are dropping after the first few minutes of a rig running on: June 24, 2020, 08:43:03 PM

Those threads are old but the cards are the same, and the problem too,

Different problem, fail to boot or fail to start is not the same as reduced hashrate.

If you are correct it means the 480 requires a dummy plug while the 470 does not.
That's too much of a stretch without some kind of proof. Also why is this problem
only happening now? Both cards have been around for a few years.

"Sleep mode" is just speculation and isn't logical. Lack of a connected monitor is not a
valid reason to put the GPU to sleep.

I don't want to argue with you, I just don't want OP lead down the wrong path.

Oh, be cool, we are not arguing, just talking, but OP said he tried to attach a monitor and the card hashes correctly
I've mining for a couple of years, and with RX 470, 480, 570 and 580 we needed this plug to rig perform 100%

You can look for old threads, I'm really shocked that nobody here heard about these plugs, in 2017 this was very commom, I'm not crazy guys, I'm just an old miner who solved hundreds of problems with rigs  Grin Grin Grin
I'm not speculating anything, try to explain to my old rigs that these plug are wothless  Grin Grin Grin

And when you face a problem, why not just try options?
5022  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: CAMPANHAS DE ASSINATURAS ATUALIZADAS on: June 24, 2020, 08:35:48 PM

Wink Wink

5023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hash rates are dropping after the first few minutes of a rig running on: June 24, 2020, 06:57:21 PM
Those threads are old and deal with a different problem. In my experience connecting
a monitor will reduce the hashrate for the card. I have one systen right now with a RTX2060
that jumps 40% when the monitor shuts off.

If connecting a monitor helps in this case it could be a secondary effect. A dummy plug may provide
a workaround but I don't think it addresees the main problem.

Since "it worked before" the key is to find everything that changed between when it worked properly
and when the hash rate started dropping.

You have a RTX 2060, I'm not saying all rigs and cards should use dummy plugs, this was a problem only in RX cards, and OP said he have RX 480 8 GB
Those threads are old but the cards are the same, and the problem too, Nvidia works totally different
5024  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hash rates are dropping after the first few minutes of a rig running on: June 24, 2020, 05:52:53 PM
Hey I'm trying to help you but you are ignoring  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

In the past we all used dummy plugs to keep the card "awake" and hashing 100%, some rigs need this plug, it's a problem that put your secondaries cards to "sleep"

You can read here and make your own plug ou buy that piece I showed

@rdluffy encontrou o SUMIDO?

5026  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hash rates are dropping after the first few minutes of a rig running on: June 23, 2020, 08:46:22 PM
Thanks for the replies. I switched from Hive OS to SMOS. Hash rates are still fluctuating.  The Watts are also changing. I played with the overclocking settings, but it didn't do much good. This is weird.

But what about the plug I suggested?
Did you try?

If you don't have this plug, you can connect to another monitor, another TV, just to see if works

5028  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hash rates are dropping after the first few minutes of a rig running on: June 23, 2020, 10:52:24 AM
It's unlikely to be a temperature problem

When I had a rig with RX 480, 570 and 580 I had to use some HDMI adaptors because cards used to go at a "sleep" mode, hashing very low or even 0mhs

This

When you plug this, your card will not go to sleep mode and will work as if it's connected to a monitor 100% of the time

5029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Increase the GPU usage when mining with ethminer on: June 22, 2020, 11:59:51 PM
Thanks for the tips, I now see using GPU-Z and MSI Afterburner that indeed my Graphics Card is heavily being used. I will also try Phoenix Miner and Claymore miner to see the results. To be honest I first tried to use Claymore but I got scared once my antivirus detected Claymore as a virus. Still not convinced on why would an antivirus rate a mining application as a virus if it isn't.

Totally normal, almost all anti virus will detect miners as a virus, because there are people who sent miners to another people to have a lot of machines mining for them, without permission, like a malware.
But Claymore and Phoenix are realiable, they are here for a long time and every miner uses, another realible miners are NBminer, Gminer etc, it's simple to check here on BitcoinTalk and see what another people are saying about miners

I know that most people mine using different pools and I'm not scared of the 1% fee but of how they do the math while redistributing the funds to each miner, after all, they own the place and can always say I've mined less than I have actually mined.

You don't have to be so worried about this kind of stuff
You can check on https://whattomine.com/coins and see what's an estimate amount of coins you'll earn with the hashrate you have, but remember that almost all times you'll gain less coins because of the difficulty, internet connection, bad shares etc, Whattomine will calculate for you in a perfect situation
About the pools you can use reliable pools, I'll say again, use this forum to check if a pool is reliable or not, here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=199.0

On the other hand, I'm not doing this for profit but I would still like to know if is it possible to do the mining using any of the existing tools without using a pool as I still didn't fully understand if I have low chances is solving the hash or no chances at all using a configuration such as mine against the "big players".

And, as a side effect of pool mining, this isn't as decentralized as it should if top 3-4 mining pools have 50% of the network because again, they own the place and could team up for a 51% attack anytime.

Do you know how mining works? I suggest you to start with Nicehash to let the app mine for you, without worry about miner, pool etc, Nicehash will pay you in BTC every 4 hours, simple like that

And do your own research to learn more, with a single card, or a single rig for example, it doesn't worth to solo mining, you won't find any block of a good coin, and pool mining exists to let small miners get rewards too, not only big miners.
So if you think, pools are good to keep the mining process decentralized

5032  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: PIX O substituto das criptomoedas no Brasil? on: June 20, 2020, 09:35:50 PM

5033  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: 5° Sorteio grátis de BTC - 0.001 BTC on: June 20, 2020, 09:06:01 PM

5035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Increase the GPU usage when mining with ethminer on: June 20, 2020, 12:55:04 AM
With a 1660Ti you can achieve 30Mhs
The best miner that I tested is Phoenix Miner: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2647654.0

Download miner, use MSI Afterburner to increase vram clock in something like + 900 or +1000mhz and reduce Power Limit to 60%
You'll increase hashrate, reduce power usage and reduce heat too

If you want to see real usage of you GPU, I suggest to use GPU-z: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

if you need some help we are here

5038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining in personal desktop? on: June 18, 2020, 01:11:02 PM
Then be ready for some crashes on your PC, you can't mine and do video gaming at the same time, not even watching videos on your PC can work, when you mine the miner will use all available CPU and GPU power
Will it affect my GPU/CPU lifespan? Is it necessary to run the desktop 24/7 without shutting down? Just pretty curious.

What's your electricity rate?
If you pay USD 0.10c kWh or less you can simple let your PC mining 24h, and just turn off the miner when you'll play, simple like that

Forget the idea of Gaming and mining at the same time, and it does't worth to mine only a few hours a day, if you want to go deep on hardware lifespan you'll find that run hardware 24h without stop it's better than turn on and off everyday
5039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining in personal desktop? on: June 17, 2020, 04:47:54 PM
You have a very powerful PC, you can mine with both 1080ti cards, and with your CPU too, this threadripper is awesome

I suggest you to download nicehash first, and mine with the app they provide, it's easy to start and you will mine with GPU + CPU

https://www.nicehash.com/download-center

You can decrease the power limit of your 1080tis because this card is a very power hungry, I suggest you to see on youtube a good overclock and undervolt to achieve maximum efficiency

But about the question of Gaming + Mining at the same time, no, you'll not do this at the same time, because both situations will consume resources of CPU + GPU, and will cause crash, freeze screen etc
Only with some very light games you can use at the same time of mining, but will cost resources too, decreasing the hashrate of mining and FPS when you are playing
5040  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 26+ mh/s Raven-coin mining RX5700 | best graphic card for mining in 2020. on: June 17, 2020, 12:21:53 PM
It's a great improvement of TeamRed Miner
I have a 5700XT Gigabyte, and with my tweaks I achieved 24Mhs but with 130w, and slightly more heat on GPU, and with ETH I do 54mhs with 110w stable
I'll stick with ETH for now, I'm paying a high electricity price and every watt counts, but if I buy another 5700 I'll put to mine RVN only

I have a 1660 and do 12.5mhs with 70w power, as you said on video, 5700xt is now a great option to RVN too
