5021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Ravencoin 'Security' names... Are these traded? on: September 15, 2022, 08:52:00 AM
I know that Ravencoin was supposed to be a securities platform of sorts and was designed for users to be able to purchase a ticker symbol.  My question is if these are actually traded anywhere?  Is anyone actually using these for anything?  With Ravencoin's sudden rise in popularity from ETH 2.0's PoW demise, it seems like people might be looking into these names and maybe starting to create some projects using them.  Is there a central place where this sort of activity is taking place?
5022  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 15, 2022, 08:46:29 AM
Many are saying that the penalty for Robert Sarver is very light a $10 million fine and suspension for a year, just a walk in the park for him, and they added that Sarver should get a heavy punishment and I think once a racist will always be racist, and his punishment should be like the one the Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling got, and that is a lifetime ban, which would be fairly fitting for Sarver, but then they explained that Sarver's case is different with the Sterling case that is why they will have different punishment which is I definitely don't understand,

I can't say I really understand the difference either.  I guess maybe because Sterling was caught on tape?  Who knows...  I haven't had time to review the report yet, but it sounds like more of the Sterling nonsense like you said.  I did see something at a glance about inappropriate touching to male employees?  It seems like Sarver has some issues that aren't just rooted in racism.  I hope he is left with a sour taste in his mouth and explores selling the team.  As a businessman, he's got to see that the value is at an all time high and headed lower as this recession takes hold.  He should do everyone a favor, including himself, and sell the team.
5023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [POLL] After the merge the price of Ethereum will go? on: September 15, 2022, 08:43:21 AM
As at now the merger is complete and every one now has is eyes on ethereum. The celebration will continue today and may affect its price (might slight increase) but is it just an hype and can it move up without depending on bitcoin?

My vote is after the merger celebration is gone today Ethereum will still depend on bitcoin's rise

I'm sure there will be lots of talk about it tomorrow.  So far it seems like things went off without a hitch.  I'm guessing a lot of confused ETH miners are going to wake up tomorrow and wonder why their GPU fans aren't loudly spinning.  ETC is already seeing a massive hashrate increase and Ravencoin is seeing price/hashrate increases as well.  It will be an educational experience watching how different networks are effected by this.
5024  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the Mt. Gox coins affect Bitcoin’s price in August? on: September 14, 2022, 11:10:55 PM
And then we went to $18k and the possibility of another lower lows, but it seems the market has bounce back above $19k but it was not a relief.

Maybe the news really affected us a bit because we remain below the threshold of the whole numbers - $20k. So the best thing now is to observed whether we can touch $19,700 at least this week so the pressure of selling might be taken off at least this weekend.

The news about the release of MT. Gox bitcoin which will start this month will play a huge factor in the next trend of Bitcoin.  I think this news will greatly affect the market because of the possible new volume of BTC to flocks in the sell order of Bitcoin market and might push the price of BTC even lower.  Another thing is the pressure of the next rate hike of FED as stated by Swordsoffreedom.  It looks like Bitcoin will possibly fall under 17k this month.  I hope it won't happen though.

I don't think the mtgox funds are going to start being distributed this month.  They just finalized claims.  More likely we will be given a page to select which payout we want (early or full) and then that process will likely go on for 3-6 months before they start distributing.  Just my opinion, it could be wrong.  I don't think anyone is going to get any funds from mtgox this month though, or next.  We have to decide what payout we want before the trustee can do anything and given that claims took almost 10 years to finalize, I don't see payout types being finalized instantly.
5025  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Corruption ok on: September 14, 2022, 11:01:11 PM
After having just watched Rand Paul eat Dr. Fauci alive, I think corruption is not only wrong, but I think the pendulum is swinging the other way where people are getting sick of it.  As Rand Paul stated earlier, Republicans are going to take the house, senate, and presidency in 2024 and will change the rules so that they'll be able to see who is getting royalty deals from where with public companies.  Then you're going to see exactly how rich people like Anthony Fauci have gotten at the expense of the American people.  I hope they keep going with the insider stock trading against politicians as well.  If Nancy Pelosi and Anthony Fauci never have to serve a day in jail or pay millions in penalties, then there is no justice.
5026  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 14, 2022, 10:56:42 PM
I think you're probably right that a big change is coming for them in the near future.  Russell Westbrook just put his multimillion-dollar Los Angeles home up for sale, so he's expecting to need to find a new place to live in the near future.  I would think that you wouldn't put your home up for sale unless you knew that a change in scenery was imminent, which leads me to believe in spite of all the friendly talk, Pat Beverly and Russell Westbrook won't be playing on the same team.  I'm even starting to wonder if picking up Pat Bev was a way to help nudge Russell towards a buyout.

Honestly, I still have no idea if any other team would risk getting Westbrook, but it's clear that his decision to put the house in Los Angeles up for sale indicates that there is a good chance that the Lakers will get rid of him before the start of the season. By the way, this situation reminds me of Ben Simmons, who also put up for sale his real estate in Philadelphia before being traded to the Nets.

Think people are looking too much into that.  Market is high a good time to sell.  And yeah he might be gone soon but he should know his contract will be incredibly hard to move, much harder than Ben Simmons.  Ben basically told Philly he won't play for them either, russ ain't doing that.  So it could be as much as he just wants to move.

I don't think so.  Russell Westbrook makes so much money that he isn't trying to time the housing market.  I also don't think you just move away from a 30 million dollar home because you want a change of scenery.  More likely Russell has some information we don't about his future and he's been told to start making preparations.  This isn't that uncommon with NBA players and it's definitely writing on the wall.  I don't think Russell plays a single game in a Lakers uniform this year and I think it's unlikely he'll report to Laker's camp in 2 weeks.

[$2,500] Perfect 10 | Week 48| Sports

Win a multi-bet with at least x10 by betting on at least 5 matches (all sports).
The minimum bet amount is set at 1$ (in any currency).

Giveaway's Topic: https://stakecommunity.com/topic/61727-2500-perfect-10-week-48-sports/

I hope this sort of giveaway is around when basketball season starts.  I plan to do a lot of parlay betting this year to see how my game picking skills are.  Hitting a 5 game parlay isn't extremely difficult (famous last words) and it might be worth throwing a few extra games in there so that you don't have to only bet underdogs to hit the x10 requirement.  I'm not doing any sports betting at the moment though (outside of my recent UFC bet) as I'm waiting for the NBA to get dribbling.
5028  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Elon Musk is going to jail [x5] on: September 14, 2022, 10:45:42 PM
Assuming the different coins [Bitcoin and dogecoin] being manipulated by Musk means that he'll serve about 25 years.

I like that you think it's possible for the richest man in the world to go to jail.  It's a certain level of ignorance that should be admired.  Wouldn't it be great if rich and powerful people had to follow laws?  Maybe if them going to jail were a realistic possibility they wouldn't do things like make Epstein infamous.

I feel pretty sure that 1) we're going to die, & 2) Elon Musk is never going to jail.
5029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Offical end of ETH mining forever thread... on: September 14, 2022, 10:42:28 PM
Whats your memorable ETH mining moment....

I can't say I have any one moment in particular that is memorable with ETH.  I mined some early on.  I was airdropped a bunch that I still hold.  I've used some to play around in the metaverse and with NFTs.  I really like ETH, but the gas fees have always been a deal breaker for me.  That's why I've sort of embraced MATIC as the coin I like to play around with these days.  Getting airdropped a bunch of ETH definitely sent me down a fun path of exploring what can be done with crypto besides holding/spending it.  I guess the education on tokens and smart contracts as a result would be what I would find most memorable.  Without ETH I would never have learned how to mass produce generative art or write a smart contract.
5030  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We are all Hodlonaut on: September 14, 2022, 10:31:15 PM
Judge asks Wright to help her understand why signing cryptographically is harder for him than what he's doing now.
Wright says it's harder to do because finding up to 100 people and getting them to witness is very time-consuming.
Hahahaha what? Note that question wasn't from one of Hodlonaut's lawyers - it was from the judge. Seems like she is also seeing through CSW's bullshit.
LOL; CSW, the first person who requires 100 people to do a cryptographic signature! Grin
I thought you just need the private key and an unambiguous cleartext message to be signed..

I didn't see the part where he says he needs 100 people to do a cryptographic signature in the video I watched, but maybe that was him saying he's already done it in front of Gavin (which was proven to be incorrect) so how many more people are needed?

The judge doesn't seem to be buying it.  I think, like the rest of us, if he's satoshi he's going to have to prove it with the keys.

Not your keys, not your coins seems almost directed at CSW at this point.
5031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your diversification strategy? on: September 14, 2022, 06:31:58 PM
But how does it fit into your portfolio? Are you taking profits and moving it to other sectors? Are you shaving some profits into metals? Bonds / TIPS?  Real estate?

IMHO BTC tracks stocks to close to call it diversified in my minds eye but do you have stocks? Maybe into a ROTH IRA or traditional (tax deduction).

How does BTC play into your balance or diversification?

What does your pie chart look like?

Bitcoin is a large part of my investment portfolio, but mostly because of it's extreme performance.  I have taken profits over the years and purchased debt free real estate as well as stocks.  While I have most of my stocks in a typical brokerage account, I do try to max out my Roth IRA annually as well.  I don't hold any bonds because inflation would leave them with negative real returns, but I do own a lot of VTI (total market fund) and some other great individual stocks like O, JNJ, etc...

I think a good goal would be to have your funds diversified, but I tend to think that the ultimate goal would be to hold enough stock to enable you to live well on the funds while still being able to accumulate more assets.

Most importantly though, I hold assets I believe in that do good for the world and will stick around a long time.
5032  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is bitcoin bear market over? on: September 14, 2022, 06:26:07 PM
As horrible as it sounds, I don't think this bear market could be over yet because I don't see stories of pain in the news.  Typically you see stories of people who lost everything and blame Bitcoin for their life spiraling.  You hear all these horror stories about how Bitcoin is a scam and warnings about staying away...  Maybe we've just outgrown that level of FUD, but I don't feel a lot of pain at the moment with Bitcoin hovering around $20K.  Do you?
5033  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Tutorial] How to form a 2019 Bitcoin Bottom on: September 14, 2022, 06:22:55 PM
I take a little longer view of the market than this chart.  When I look at it, I don't see all these bull traps and moving average reversals...  I see a volume spike on the left side of the chart as it moved below $4,500 and then a six month stacking opportunity as the market accumulated.  I accumulated through this period and was quite happy I did.  I think taking a longer view of the market and not focusing on the day to day makes it much easier to decide which way things are going.  While most think a good trader makes money every day, I think a good trader in Bitcoin is bullish for 3 years, and bearish for 1 (give or take 6 months).  This has worked out well for me in the past...  What's the old saying?

"Don't run down and fuck one cow.  Walk down and fuck them all."
5034  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul VS Anderson Silva October 29th on: September 14, 2022, 06:18:16 PM
Anyway, Silva in any case has an advantage over Paul, this is his experience, but the almost two-fold age difference minimizes this advantage, by the way, Paul says that he really wants to knock out Silva, but as he said with respect, or maybe not, I still wish Silva a victory.

I think we'd probably all like to see Silva win this fight.  I don't think he can though.  Is he a better fighter?  Sure.  He's so old though.  Once you hit 40 things start to change.  I get that Silva has been fighting forever so obviously he's more able to fight in his 40's than someone like myself, but I still find it hard to believe that he could beat a 20-something who is at his peak.  I will hope that Silva knocks Paul out, but I'll also hope that Silva doesn't get hurt or embarrassed out there.
5035  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 14, 2022, 06:15:28 PM
Too premature to say that the Lakers will be having that outcome or at least the same results they got last season, the season hasn't started yet and we might see some changes in their roster in the next few days.

5036  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is bitcoin bear market over? on: September 14, 2022, 05:50:41 PM
The economy is still trying to figure out if we’re headed for a 2008 style crash or a soft landing. If deflation starts to take hold from these rate increases and the job losses kick into high gear, then you’ll see a true bear market. Bitcoin hasn’t seen a major economic crash yet. I suspect if a recession does take hold, the results will be fantastically exciting.
5037  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [POLL] After the merge the price of Ethereum will go? on: September 14, 2022, 05:46:34 PM
I guess maybe I overestimated the excitement level on this forum about this crypto event. It’s literally one of the biggest things to happen in crypto in some time, if not ever, and this forum is mostly silent about it. Crazy… Personally I think we’ll see a buy the rumor sell the news selloff, but I don’t think anyone can say for sure what will happen. We’ll know soon enough.
5038  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever heard of trifecta betting? on: September 14, 2022, 12:45:21 AM
I'm definitely aware of what a trifecta is and that it's popular in horse racing.  That's a little too risky of a bet for me personally, but I guess if you followed horse racing you might feel a little differently.  It's similar to parlay bets in other sports where you package multiple games together into one high risk high reward bet.  For some reason though I feel like predicting multiple games is easier than predicting the top 3 finishers and which place they come in during a horse race.
5039  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 14, 2022, 12:37:35 AM
I honestly would like to see Russ traded so the Lakers will have a strong line-up with no excuses if they can't compete on top.

I don't think trading Russell Westbrook will make the Lakers have a strong lineup.

I don't even see them as one of the contenders even if Westbrook is not there.
It would depend on who they will get in the Westbrook trade of course. It may not make them stronger after the trade but it could improve the playing environment there. I mean no more on and off the court drama surrounding WB's bad performances or rumors about conflicts with his teammates.

I don't think they'd get anyone back of real value in a Westbrook trade.  In my opinion it would be a salary dump so that they could possibly land some decent free agents or maybe grab someone else in a trade during the season.  Right now they're spending something like 140 million dollars on LeBron, AD, Westbrook, & Pat Bev.  Russ and Pat are basically bench players, LeBron is damn near 40, and AD can't stay on the court.  It's a pretty bad situation.  They need to stop making it worse and start fixing it.  Getting rid of Westbrook's contract is a good first step.
5040  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Next Big coin Trx on: September 14, 2022, 12:34:37 AM
If I were to pick 2 coins that you should stay away from at all costs, they would be TRX and XRP.  Tron and Ripple are led by the worst people in crypto.  They literally make money from dumping on their supporters and spend a fortune on shady advertising.  Not to mention they both have a massively inflated supply so they can trick people without much investing knowledge into thinking they're buying coins for cheap, when in reality they are two of some of the most expensive coins in crypto.  I would advise you to steer clear.  Pick something else.
