Never mind, I would like to share you a secret. When fee is high enough for getting confirmed within 1st block, I think custodial wallets like Coinbase offers the cheapest fee. Because they now do batch payments which give them the chance of saving a lot of fees. As a result, they charge same fee from everyone.
If you simply use 1 input and 2 output in non custodial wallets, I think you will pay much higher than what coinbase charges, the case is true when cheapest and fastest fee is 100 sat+.
There is no secret that platforms, not only Coinbase always do batch payments for their customers - that is one of reasons we have waiting time for withdrawals on platforms to get txid - but I don't mind that because fees on platforms are higher (I could be wrong), except if they waive the fees (some casinos do waive the fee, Fortune Jack for now AFAIK). I don't use Coinbase so that I can not confirm what you said. Honestly I don't know the fee they save from batch payments will be for themselves or will be shared to customers. Yes, it is a secret I've not yet known. The key point is: choose the day to move your bitcoin, you will have cheapest fees no matter what from where you move them (from Coinbase or from your Electrum wallet).

No, I meant you moved your bitcoin from non-custodial wallet or from exchange wallet because it decides whether you will have control on fees. I have BTC in custodial wallet, non custodial wallet both.
Now, you can move your bitcoin at cheaper fees (see above). Of course, fee will be higher if you use custodial wallet (you mostly are not allowed to customize fee), and cheaper if you can choose your fees in non-custodial wallets (with some delay obviously). Does not matter even if I can choose the fee, for example I have fund in my electrum wallet but now, the fee is so high that if I use my preferred fee, tx will not be confirmed instantly.
Instantly means your transactions should be confirmed in next one block that in turn put you into a fee race. The race always charges you as highest fees as possible, not cheap for sure. It does not depend which day it is. When I have buyer, I sell and when someone wants to sell BTC, I have to buy. Most of the times, I buy and sell instantly ad I have community who are in need of BTC always.
See above, instant transactions mean both sellers and buyers have to accept highest fees. Cheaper fees mean a bit of delays. Cheapest fees mean your transactions have probability that won't be confirmed and will be dropped out of mempool. It is safe if you move your bitcoins for yourself (from wallet to wallet, from wallet to exchange, all belong to you). BUT it is risky for bitcoin tradings: If transaction won't be confirmed and dropped out of mempool, you won't receive bitcoin but the trade partner already receive Bangladesh fiat, example. You won't be able to call him / her back to resend those bitcoin to you. It is kind of unofficial scam or you scam yourself by requiring cheapest fees on tradings. From my experience, with such tradings, you should deal with partner who is responsible for fees. And fee should be taken into calculation of final income (both BTC and fiat).  |

You see, as I expected yesterday: The mempool is clearer now and as of writing, if you are in hurry, 5 satoshis/ byte to move your bitcoin is enough. I also expect to see the mempool clearer a little more next hours and the cheaper fees around 3 satoshis/byte. With the network status, I think it takes days to clear up all transactions at 1 sat/ byte so I won't expect to see the cheapest fee soon. Clever scammers will create the self-moderated thread from the beginning ? wouldn't they ? We cannot stop them in the first place.
Also this does not means if anyone create self-moderated thread for a service / ANN , then his motive behind is to scam.
Newbie scammers or stupid scammers don't know the self-moderated option or they forgot to activate it. The hidden option somewhat help to fight against scammers. The right usecase of self-moderated option is emphasized so clearly by theymos, who created that option for us. I don't argue with you on that. The excluded sections are Meta (except for this topic), Scam Accusations, Important Announcements, and Auctions. Tagged scammers can't use this feature. You don't have to participate in self-moderated topics if you're worried about manipulation by the OP.

Sometimes after creating the topic, one feels he should have created it a self-moderated one or at other times one intend to create a self-moderated topic but forgets to click on Self-moderated option. I always wonder why there is no option to convert to self-moderated later.
Any logical reason for this ?
Logical reason is to avoid scammers convert from non-self-moderated threads to self-moderated ones when their scam threads are detected by community. Then the conversion will help scammers easily to silent the community by deleting proofs in other posts. Forget to choose self-moderated option? Solution is there: Move it to archival, rename the thread, and create a new thread with self-moderated option (only helpful in first minute or hours after you create threads). |

If you want to send with a low fee do it on a Sunday, the mempool always seems to be less full on a weekend, especially Sunday.
Yes, mempool is usually most clear in the weekends, and especially on Sundays (from 19 - 0 UTC). Bitcoin transaction fees (in sats/kb). Sunday, Saturday are best to move BTCLook at below statistics for latest update and compare median transaction fees (in satoshis/ kB) on Sunday and Saturday to Friday: - Friday: 18471
- Saturday: 14258 (22.8% cheaper)
- Sunday: 12701 (31.2% cheaper)
You can narrow down the time span from 1 week to 1 days to have better visual graphs for what has happened during last 24 hours, but 1-week graphs from Johoe's site give you better overview. |

Mate, BDT is the fiat currency of Bangladesh. I used to buy sell BTC locally to make some profit since I have both some buyers and sellers. And there's no way you can get rid of the high fee now. Coinbase is better since they use batch payment now and fee is proportionally low but it's very risky to use coinbase for such trades because source of BTC can be illegal too.
Two factors and I would like to ask you: - Where is the place you use to trade? BTC is in your non-custodial wallet or in your account on third-party platform?
- When you moved your btc in your trades?
More explanations: [1] I guess you trade with your trade partners on a third-party platform so that you are not allowed to choose your prefered fees for transactions (most of platforms don't allow customers do so). @tranthidung, just so you know, you might want to ease up on the "highlighting"... it doesn't play nicely with Dark Mode scripts  Oops, I don't know the annoying problem with Dark Mode script. When I was a noob, I don't know the glow blocks but I saw some famous users use it and it looks cool. In real life, I usually highlight important points when I read books. Ok, with the annoying problem, it is better to use color blocks or italicize text. I fixed but I would like to know about color blocks. To be your own bank and have control on your transactions, let use non-custodial wallets like Bitcoin Core or Electrum (SPV wallet, that is lighter than Bitcoin Core). Note that, always verify wallets to be safe before using (in both cases - when you install wallet the first time or when you update your wallet to newest version). You have to check wallet option to see the Replace-by-Fee is chosen yet, if not, choose it. It does not help all the times because miners are always greedy and they are smart enough to choose transactions with highest fees to confirm first. In Electrum, following those steps: Tools > Preferences > Use Replace-by-FeesMy transaction has been unconfirmed for a long time. What can I do?
Bitcoin transactions become “confirmed” when miners accept to write them in the Bitcoin blockchain. In general, the speed of confirmation depends on the fee you attach to your transaction; miners prioritize transactions that pay the highest fees.
Recent versions of Electrum use “dynamic fees” in order to make sure that the fee you pay with your transaction is adequate. This feature is enabled by default in recent versions of Electrum.
If you have made a transaction that is unconfirmed, you can:
Wait for a long time. Eventually, your transaction will either be confirmed or cancelled. This might take several days.
Increase the transaction fee. This is only possible for “replaceable” transactions. To create this type of transaction, you must have checked “Replaceable” on the send tab before sending the transaction. If you’re not seeing the “Replaceable” option on the send tab go to Tools menu > Preferences > Fees tab and set “Propose Replace-By-Fee” to “Always”. Transactions that are replaceable have the word “Replaceable” in the date column on the history tab. To increase the fee of a replaceable transaction right click on its entry on the history tab and choose “Increase Fee”. Set an appropriate fee and click on “OK”. A window will popup with the unsigned transaction. Click on “Sign” and then “Broadcast”.
Create a “Child Pays for Parent” transaction. A CPFP is a new transaction that pays a high fee in order to compensate for the small fee of its parent transaction. It can be done by the recipient of the funds, or by the sender, if the transaction has a change output. To create a CPFP transaction right click on the unconfirmed transaction on the history tab and choose “Child pays for parent”. Set an appropriate fee and click on “OK”. A window will popup with the unsigned transaction. Click on “Sign” and then “Broadcast”.
The solution "Child Pays for Parent" is rarely used so you can ignore it. |

OP, you tried to do something helpful, I know and appreciate your effort but for your future threads, I advise you to do research before making a post or thread. Create a table with some columns and rows is a challenge for people who don't know how to do it. I faced such challenge and even you have a table template from someone else, you must practice a few times to create yours well. How do I calculate a transaction fee?
There are some sites for you (others posted above). More details for you is transaction fee depends on size of your transaction and the fee you set per byte for that transaction: Final fee = transaction size x fee (in satoshi/ byte). Transaction size depends on total input and output as well as transaction types, so please read the threads at bottom of this post. I've read if it is too low it will never complete the transaction, but a friend of mine says it is a myth. I don't know... it look like i can loose money in a fee or in the limb...
I am sure that if you are in rush now, you will lose more fees for your transaction. The severiry of fee lose will be different and depends on location from which you move your coin: - From exchanges/ casinos: Losses will be bigger because they will charge you higher fees and you mostly don't have option to choose which fee priority do you want. Their priority is finishing customers' transactions ASAP to give customers satisfactory exeperience.
- From wallets you have full control (non-custodial wallets): The higher fees per byte you set up, the bigger losses for fees you will suffer.
coinb.in uses data from previous block so it is not for current situation. You can use it but it is not the best choice. I used it in the past but after have better understandings no bitcoin transaction and fee operations, I prefer to use https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/ that gives you multiple informative details.

It is a bad idea. Let me explain: - The forum is for freedom of speech and discussions. Everyone should have rights to read and get information even if they don't register accounts here.
- Forum has its Archival board for old stuffs
- Hide topic option can be abused by scammers. Whenever they successful scam huge funds, and scam accusations are created to attack them, they will choose to hide scam topics and run away with stolen funds.
- Delete all contents can be used by some people but it is only obvious signal of likely something wrong. Not all cases will be scammers but something are strong and likely wrong.
I don't support the Hide topic option. |
