5061  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining taxes on: October 23, 2015, 06:53:06 AM
about what number we are talking about? here for example you don't pay taxes for an income that is below 4800 per years

and anyway i'm sure that if you run a big business the simple thing of buying many miners mean that you invested a lot of money and you need to declare those money

Depends on what they consider the income or investment.  To be honest I would be interested to hear a CPA on it.  At one time I thought I wanted to be one of those...... but went a different path.   So I'm not going to throw out wrong info.

A business would definitely have some.  I think a lot will come down to if it's seen as a hobby or enough to be over a hobby.  A CPA could do a lot better though at classifying it and be able to tell exact numbers.
5062  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: October 23, 2015, 06:46:27 AM
When they are beeping, they are definitely Zombie'd. They go zombie without beeping as well though, so I imagine, that the beeping is related to a different set of circumstances. Without any feedback from Bitmain, it is impossible to know what the beeping is supposed to indicate.

Yes. When it squeaks (I think that is more precise than beep), it is definitely zombied (using the term of CGMiner). I always use BFGMiner as my Antminer U3' are more stable running with it. I believe it also happens with CGMiner as I am quite sure this is a hardware flaw. But I just tried CGMiner 4.9.2 for about two days, so I cannot confirm whether this phenomena happens also with CGMiner or not.

I have 2 Antminer U3' batch 2 with the wire cage, and both of them have experienced the squeaking noise. Each of them does that noise possibly once in a week or two, randomly and not at the same time. When that happens, the miner LED indicator (the one close to the fan connector) is flashing on and off at regular interval following the squeaking noise which is also on and off at the same interval. It looks like something related to the USB interface is stuck and oscillating at low frequency.

If you guys are interested to see and hear what I experience, I will record and post the video here next time when I get that.

If you have time that would be great.  Mine never have made a sound, I'm a little disappointing to be honest a beep when in Zombie would be nice.

I do have the LED indicator that is red when it's mining.  But no beeps at all.
5063  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread oct 15th to oct 29th picks are closed!! With a bonus reward. on: October 23, 2015, 06:40:48 AM
I see little to no evidence of SP50's coming online... And SP did not reply to my inquiry to purchase 3 units.

Interesting reading the math around how many S7's are shipping, no huge spikes.  We may be trading power for hash for a short while longer if no other manufacturers gear shows.

I think SP50 is going to be some bulk sales once it hit's market. I don't know when that is. But I have a feeling you need to throw a few hundred thousand to get them to respond to first batch.   And also there no doubt will be a NDA, I don't suspect to hear from those who are on this order list.

Maybe later on they will anwser inquiries on a few.  But it will not be at first, and definitely not close to release without a NDA.
5064  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many bitcoins do you have to sell to make a living? on: October 23, 2015, 05:16:32 AM
If my dream comes true then 1 bitcoin will be enough for your entire life. If not then at least 100 Cheesy

Look bitcoin will probably have a shiny future , its the saviour of humanity!

I also have the same dream.
If the bitcoin price hit again it's peak price, I must need at least 1000 bitcoins to make a luxurious life. Half is enough for a decent life. But getting 1000 or 500 bitcoins is not possible now a days due to high difficulties and competition.

It is already going up, so i`m looking forward to hit 400-500$ by the end of the year, but anything is possible.

Next summer when the halving happens, it could go to 10,000$ or even higher.

Your very optimistic on having price.  It's all speculation no one can tell you what will happen at having this far away.  I mean it's a long time away in crytpo time.  But to throw numbers like 10k.... I'm not expecting at having.

We need to see btc price before having a few months to have any clue.  And really having no one will know till we hit it.   But I would not expect 10k per btc at having even at most optimistic pricing.
5065  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud mining, can it still pay out? on: October 23, 2015, 05:11:37 AM

It actually is pretty good right now.  Those of us who made profit at 230... a bump like 270 even is a nice little bump for us.  So the trick is being able to handle low priced mining times.

And the good news is all of the BTC you mined and did not use to pay electricity for example has today's value so your holdings can go up a decent amount as far as USD in just a few weeks.

So you are saying that you turn your mining equipment to half capacity when price is low, and full capacity when price is high? Thats a good strategy.

Or, mine always for maximum capacity, but only dump the coins at high price? This is riskier.

The problem is that difficulty is going up, electricity cost going up, and you need new mining equipment that doesnt ROI for months, to keep up the capacity.

It is though, but doable.

Better always mine full speed, you might end up losing more from not mining than from mining more efficiently. Of course its understandable if you need to pay electricity bill from your BTC earning, but if thats the case, your electricity rate is probably too high to be mining anyways.

At least thats how i see it for home miners.

The problem with this is that some miners under clock nicely.  I have normal electricity nothing special.  And I do pay for electricity so if under clocking brings me more money, I do it.  For example my Avalon 4.1, SP20's are all running under clock as they do it very well and I can run at most efficient electricity.

Running full speed sounds nice but unless free electricity for most it will not work.

Or you can plan for later dumping,  I mean at next halving the price can go to 5000$. Imagine how big ROI that would be.

Bitcoin can go to the moon, this is also need to be considered by miners.

It's getting a little away from cloud mining, but I guess some of these ideas do kinda crossover.

I have a set amount I want to be invested in.  I don't believe in going deeper and deeper in debt in chance of ROI.  I either make ROI or I don't.  And hopefully there is ROI/Profit on my investments.  If you wait on X price (which I admit I have done if price is horrible but as a general rule don't like).  If I did this I would have been KILLED from day's of when BTC was worth double or more then it is today.

Going through something like when btc went from thousand or so to a ton less luckily did not kill me as I had ROI'ed on my holdings.  If I held saying Ohhh if i get X more to pay the costs I do better, the drop like that would have crushed my investment.  I think you had to go through this to see how things can go wrong.

The clock is quite dated but there are other option in clock if you want that route.  This is more for a mantle but could go on table. - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045Z4MDC?keywords=concellment%20clock&qid=1445573664&ref_=sr_1_sc_1&sr=8-1-spell

It looks a lot more modern and would not look out of place on a mantle.   I would go more for this on a clock if picking.

My great grandmother had a big clock in the old family house from the 1800's, I could hide it there, it would be a great place to hide, because nobody would look there.

Shit, now they would because I just told my good hiding place on an internet forum.

Guys, c`mon this thread is a tutorial for burglars, don't be morons, don't tell about good hiding places on the internet!

You do make a good point.  I use no concealment device I post.   Or is that misdirection... no it's the truth.  There are a ton of great concealment ideas.

If you look at gun one's they tend to be decent as they are normally not cheap.  So that is where I found that clock vs standard concealment.  And I have a few in my head I really would like to share.... but I am keeping them in my head as I have not seen them talked about.

It's also a good place for us to look and see if others had same idea as us.  The best ones are one specific to you, and no one else would share.

list 10 cloud miner sites that dont close over a year lol its all ponzi

Probably you had bad experiences on cloud mining sites and you only tried those ponzi ones, if that's so we're the same Cheesy I also see cloudmining sites as a disguised ponzi but after some research I found cloudmining sites that's legit and not a ponzi. One good example was bit x. Also hashnest was a legit one and probably there are more legit cloud mining sites.

Yes I also had bad experience with my cloud mining. Earning was very much little that may be due to the amount of hash power I have bought. But when bitcoin prices down surged, they paid out in negative with the reason of maintenance charges.

It's sad but you really do have to research before any investment.  Cloud mining is so full of scammers I suggest even more then normal researching time.

But also once sure it is legit.  Do ROI math to.  Just like hardware mining you have to do ROI math to see if it makes sense at that current time.

But its not that cloudmining is ponzi or not, its the fact that mining itself is getting less and less profitable.

As the competition grows, the profit margin shrunks. And mining is a very competitive game nowadays, not to mention that the difficulty rises, and the cost of operation too.

It actually is pretty good right now.  Those of us who made profit at 230... a bump like 270 even is a nice little bump for us.  So the trick is being able to handle low priced mining times.

Secret hidden safe under sliding floor
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cd0Bkju0eWs

or you can use clock with hidden place like this

I`ve never seen a clock like that, but its possible.

However if the burglar comes equipped with metal detector, he can detect any precious stuff in there.

Actually, beside old schools, no one use those, its way too obvious and the metal detector wont detect a stack of bills, and it would already react to the clock itself somewhat. Either way, its not a very good idea. But the sliding floor though, thats not bad at all.

The clock is quite dated but there are other option in clock if you want that route.  This is more for a mantle but could go on table. - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045Z4MDC?keywords=concellment%20clock&qid=1445573664&ref_=sr_1_sc_1&sr=8-1-spell

5070  Economy / Services / Re: Own a drone? Get $5 in Bitcoin when you write a review at Dronecheap on: October 23, 2015, 04:11:15 AM
I don't have any drone ..so should i not able to review ..for making review do we have to have drone ..let me know

Yeah, you need to own a drone on the site and prove it by submitting a photo you took of it with a piece of paper with today's date written on it.

Quote
Quadcopters don't write Drone!

Not all drones are quadcopters (for instance the TBS Gemini is a hexacopter). Anyways, who cares?  I think everyone here is smart enough to realize that we're reviewing personal/commercial unmanned aerial vehicles, not military killing machines that bring mostly automated death from the sky.

I did a review of my Syma X5C.  I did not read part of writing name and used a stock photo.  Ohh well live and learn.  It is a great drone for the price.  Only problem I ever had was breaking thumb stick off during flight.... was a rough landing.  But I made it and was able to glue it and works now.

For those into drones I suggest also looking into gas RC car's.  I have had a ton of fun with that hobby trying it.    Something about a RC item with that much power is just a heck of a lot of fun.  Although the high quality electric RC cars are a heck of a lot easier to start and run then messing with gas.  But I always wanted a gas one to play with.
5071  Economy / Goods / Re: I will order your Amazon items with my prime account for your BTC--20% off ! on: October 23, 2015, 03:59:11 AM

my trade history speaks volumes at LBC

LBC accounts have been for sale on this very forum...

Did anyone actually used this guy with an Escrow ? He got labelled as a scammer lightning fast and maybe it was too soon...

I remember that I went through the same shit when I started my Amazon selling service here...Not a very friendly place Bitcointalk, I can tell you that...Hell, I still get shit from new guys not willing to read my thread on Bitcointalk and pissing on dozens of positive reviews....I'm not saying he is legit but everyone should be considered innocent until proven guilty...just my 2 cents

P.S - This is addressed  to the mods :  How come threads like this are allowed to stay in Goods and I got moved to Services with all of those crappy signature campaigns ?

The problem was were he posted:

i am in a hurry for the BTC,  that is why i am offering 20% to do it this way

feel free to PM me,  and you can take a look at my LBC feedback

Most people who use stolen credit cards order... but cannot guarantee delivery as it's a stolen cc.  So OP wanting escrow to release with just a order screen is what brought him the tag.

He would have to change that policy most likely to not be labeled scammer.  Saying escrow must release at point before item is even delivered is not really a escrow.
5072  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to make Bitcoin transactions untraceable? on: October 23, 2015, 03:52:12 AM

I think it's actually on topic. Different addresses for each received transaction is a huge thing. Is Bread the one that does dynamic fees, too?

No, I don't believe it takes out any fees at all... just takes out the $.07 or so in miners fees.  But changing the public address isn't really that big of a deal in terms of keeping your transactions untraceable, IMO... all of the previous transactions before can be linked by following where each transaction goes too.

But for example when using a wallet that mixes coins automatically when sending coins out, now that would help out a lot in keeping everything untraceable... I would input the "M" word here now, but I'm going to keep things on topic.  Smiley

By fees I meant the dynamic miner's fees. Like instead of always being 0.0001 BTC, it will choose whatever is the lowest that will get it confirmed (usually less). I forgot what wallet does that.
electrum will automatically calculate the minimum required fees for the tx to get included in the next block. But many ppl are using different wallets or online one. They couldn't do the calculation. So We have to calulate ourself based on cointape.com. Easy and quick!

Whoa, never even heard of cointape! That's awesome. And I didn't realize Electrum did it, either. Thanks for the heads-up on both!

That really is a amazing thing.  I bookmarked it.  This could have saved me guessing so many times.

To actually see a price and time-frame that is great info!

These Batch 2 and 3 miners probably won't get shipped until,

* Price of BTC goes to $300-$315 and reverses back down. I think they are holding them right now and mining with them so they can dump.

*Or will ship them on November 5th as its the last delay day.

Mining is very profitable at the moment.

yeah while it is a bit annoying.  I do have 2 mining as I type.  both work fine.

I finally got my Batch 1 units, two of them. One does 4.88 avg while the other 4.63-4.68. Are a lot of people seeing this?

I paid the full price of batch 1 and pretty pissed I got a batch 2 unit, guessing by the hash rate. I tried to OC it to 618 and 625, but not much difference, a lot more HW errors with minimal hash gain.

Out of curiosity do they have the stickers on the hashing board showing freq? I don't blame you for being mad on it.

Please let us know if Bitmain gives partial refund.  And also what they do on compensation amount on being late if you dont mind.
5075  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining taxes on: October 23, 2015, 03:40:02 AM
What if someone doing cloud mining? And from bit-x i got ~0.5+ GHs and i'm getting 400+ sat per day and paying 300+ sat for maintanence fee finally i'll get ~100 sat. So i'm the victim of paying tax? Shocked

We really need a CPA.  But I think you need to be pulling quite the profit, most hobby miners don't make the profit's of a company.  But there are some quite large and chances are should look into it.

One thing I think should make a difference if you cash out the BTC and are making big profits.  If you cash it out you truly could get a profit.  But if you don't cash it in and it's held as BTC I think it really would be hard to pick a value.   But I'm also not a CPA..
5076  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: October 23, 2015, 03:35:21 AM
Actually it's novak's OP. I know cgminer can have issues with USB3 but some folks have tested 2.0 hubs with 3.0 power availability with good results. I don't have anything USB3 to play with.

The power bottleneck in any system is more likely to be your hub or cooling than anything on the Compac itself. If the stick is provided with stable power over 4V, it'll push enough current to melt your ASIC without adequate cooling. Voltage drop within the hub, and burst current requirements causing input voltage ripple, can result in instability of the stick. With my modified hub and a modified stick (increased voltage range, extra caps on the buck circuit) we got 488MHz out of it and it was probably drawing close to 4A through the jack. At that point the input power was dropping too low and the core voltage was unstable. For most people, the power bottleneck will be the USB hub.

Woops, sorry Novak.

Sound good, that means it would not be particularly hard to draw power from 4 jacks and feed it to one usb stick. And i'm not sure i want to get to 4V, but can the turn-knob even go over 0.8V, by doing more than a 360degree turn?

Nope that is something I thank sidehack for.   It has a range where you could turn circles on the voltage knob but with the set range it wont go out of it.

1st or 2nd page has a good picture of it showing range.
5077  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 6 Vs Antminer S7, which one you will choose? on: October 23, 2015, 03:32:38 AM
This thread is useless without price AND guaranteed delivery date.

No different then what is going on with the SP50 thread.

I think that the Avalon 6 will be out before SP50 but that is a guess.  I just think that miner looked pretty production ready.

I  think SP50 has a lot more hurdles being the huge miner.  And it announced lower electricity use.
5078  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: October 23, 2015, 03:09:25 AM

Sadly, i do not see how to measure amperage to figure out what the maximum clock i should set it to with a y-splitter on an USB3.0 hub. I only have a multi meter.

Get a usb tester: http://www.amazon.com/DROK-Multimeter-Capacity-Charging-Alignment/dp/B00J3JSEG6

I just ordered 4 sets of Y cables so I can really start playing with my sticks.  Highest freq. I can get on hub right now is 262.5 without exceeding the amp rating for each port.

Yeah i know about those, but i don't want to pay 20$(I'm in Canada) to test around with my 20$ toy. I through i could check the amp with the first and 4th pin, but that didn't work out. And i don't know enough about circuits to guess how to do it without frying stuff.

I would suggest taking a look at ebay then.  If money and not timeline is the big concern you can get very low priced ones (Here is one example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Charger-Doctor-Voltage-Current-Meter-Mobile-Battery-Tester-Power-Detector-NE-/131214096046?hash=item1e8cf836ae:g:MtUAAOSwmrlUvcj9 )

But you can get it cheap just takes a while to get from China.  I'm not sure on Canada shipping but I imagine it still will be a few bucks total for one if your willing to wait.

Ah, thanks. I thought those only read Voltage. I got one for 3$ free shipping. 1 month ETA so i'll just wait until i do it before doing crazy clock on this thing. Smiley

Not a problem that is part of what I love about this compac group is the sharing of info.  I got Y cables off ebay thanks to phil for cheap that I waited on, and worked awesome.

I also got those Y cables off the link Phil gave. Smiley As soon as i receive that meter, i guess i'll try to OC it to the max. I wonder how high these things can go. I'm wondering what the bottleneck would be, the stick's own USB port?

Most likely I think it would be the power provide by the usb hub.  If you had a modified hub with more power I predict that would be highest "OC".

I could be wrong though.  But I'm guessing that is most common.
5079  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Oct 11 to Nov 11 Sidehack stick pool club. on: October 23, 2015, 03:03:14 AM
Have you guys gotten anything out of it?

we are yet to hit a block.

but if you put in 25 usd for a stick and 5 or 6 to get it shipped you are out  31 usd . 1 stick runs for next to nothing if you run your pc 24/7

so your investment stays very low if you want to be in low.  your chance of collecting on a  part of a block  in 1 month is around 6%.

which means you chance of 3x your cost in a year is greater then 50%.  this is at the 1 stick nothing else level.

I switched to a RPI so I spend a little money on RPI but it can be used for projects in the future.  If you use a RPI you are using so little electricity with a compac.   They really are great lotto.  I mean I feel comterable running for a year and if I don't hit one..... dang I had fun doing it.

Compare that to some bigger miners I just can't handle the electricity cost even on a S3 or something without constant payment.
5080  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 6 Vs Antminer S7, which one you will choose? on: October 23, 2015, 02:58:47 AM
Avalon now have a partner in USA that will manage the RMA and the sell. This is a really good new imho. We will probably get better support and cheap shipping price.  Grin
Oh that is awesome! Who is their partner and do they have a current site with a shop?
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3plynq/avalon_6_vs_antminer_s7_which_one_you_will_choose/
This doesn't say who the resaler is at all and makes it sound less confirmed.

The official re-seller no doubt will be ehash.  That is  CANAAN CREATIVE's official online store (Avalon's official store).  So that one most likely will be cheapest to buy unless they team up with someone else.

iTOPshop.net get credit for releasing specs once again.  I'm starting to be surprised companies send to them specs as they seem to be first one wanting to release specs, which is great for us but companies I'm not sure wanted them released.  I just wish we knew the price.

When ITOP released the S5+ specs, it took very little time before we saw the official announcement, then pricing. So good odds they'll come out of the wood with a price tag soon...

I would agree it looks like "soon".  That miner looks like a production miner not prototype.  As it really has finish to it, and looks pretty much done.

So I'm hoping price "soon" but guess we will see.  I like ITOP more and more each time they do the first to post thing.
Yeah I have no clue how they get their information, they must have someone who is near the area when they fabricate a lot of the miners.

I'm wondering the same.  I can't imagine companies sending them specs early at this point.   They love being first to release.  So it works great for us miners, I love it.

But as a mining manufacture I would think you would be unhappy to see it posted on forum by someone else.
