5061  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Features - Less is More on: April 12, 2022, 11:48:29 AM
What are your opinions? Would you prefer a slimmed down version (like the older 2.x and 3.x versions) or do you like it more the way it is now?
Electrum wallet is open source, so if you don't like something you can always fork it and remove what you don't want to use.
In theory this could be done but the question is who is going to maintain this release and fix all the bugs that could always come up in future.
You would need to be a developer or to hire someone to do this for you, but I think this is just a waste of time and money.
Lightning Network is getting more popular every day and more exchanges and services are adding support, so I think it would be wise to keep LN in Electrum.

if I did this with out giving credit is it plagiarism?
It's not plagiarism if you give credits to original author, and I don't think this was copyright protected in the first place.

Plagiarism is bannable on bitcointalk.org because copying something just to boost your post count (or similar) demonstrates utter contempt for the whole concept of a discussion forum. You copying something like that is completely different, so it would not be bannable.
If I remember correctly, some time ago there was a member who plagiarized and changed only text for his signature in bitcointalk forum.
This was not done to boost his post count, but he was promoting this with his every post, so I am sure this is not bannable, but I wonder if this deserves to be tagged or not?
I think that having plagiarism in signature space should be even worse than writing it as a normal post.

Guide - If you want to get rid of shitcoins on Bitcointalk
Or you could simply collapse all Alternate cryptocurrencies section by clicking on it's tab title.
I do have most of the other languages with few other boards disabled the same way you disabled it for altcoins, this makes it cleaner and takes less space.
You will still see altcoin questions in all topics like Beginners & Help but you can always report them to moderators.

5064  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: SCAM upozorenja Zbirni topic on: April 12, 2022, 10:13:21 AM
Ide se na Privacy Settings, omogućiti Keep me safe, i onemogućiti Allow direct messages from server members.
Who can add you as a friend, onemogućiti Everyone.

5065  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can anyone recommend me a safe place to store my bitcoins? on: April 11, 2022, 06:42:09 PM
Can anyone recommend me a safe place to store my bitcoins?
Rule number one is that you don't store bitcoin in any centralized exchanges, and use some open source non-custodial wallets.

If you don't want to spend money purchasing hardware wallets like Trezor, than use some old offline computer laptop, or old smartphone with Electrum wallet.
5066  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: My new bitcoinate project on: April 11, 2022, 06:20:02 PM
And the idea of the project, as I said, is to create a button to collect Bitcoin donations
Your project have some potential but I would like to use and upload custom button if possible, instead of default one available on website with three sizes.
People could get confused for word bitcoinate, so mabye you can add version that has only Bitcoin logo or word Donate/Pay.
I don't know if it's possible to make version that works without Javascript, but it would be goo to have this alternative.
5067  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Invalid recovery phrase on: April 11, 2022, 06:10:24 PM
I just check from my software wallet & bitcoin explorer which i sent some bitcoin 3 years ago.
I named it HW coldwallet, it's unlikely if i used the wrong address.

What if i lost 1 word & words in the wrong order ?
How exactly did you made that backup for your ledger wallet?
Did you wrote words on paper with your hand or you made some kind of digital backup (I would never recommend doing something like this)?
Most mistakes I have seen people doing is when they are trying to invent warm warm again, making their own ''special'' systems with mixing of words order.
Number one rule for backup of your words is to double check if they are correct and working as soon as you generate them, Trezor is offering testing for that and I think ledger has something similar.
5068  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor Model One wallet and thoughts on: April 11, 2022, 05:59:04 PM
Trezor T, on the other hand, supports Cardano and Monero. So be aware of this before proceeding with your purchase.
Current price for Trezor model T is higher than I would like to spend and it' not justified in my opinion, just because they added bigger screen with few more supported coins with bigger memory.
For price of over 220 euros plus shipping I could get much better air-gapped open source hardware wallets like Passport or Keystone, and I would have extra money left in my wallet.
When Trezor finish making new wallet with secure element than I will consider recommending it again, after I test it or see some reviews.

One difference between a Trezor and a Ledger is that all 3 of the currently sold Ledger hardware wallets support the same coins. Actually, the Nano S+ is currently experiencing bugs where there is a lack of support for several altcoins.
This are not bugs for ledger S plus, it was intentionally made like this because they speed up development without completing the code, and they wanted to earn more money as soon as possible.
It doesn't really matter if old S device support most coins like model X when you can only install few coins, and when they stop manufacturing it...

5069  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Square is considering making a hardware wallet for Bitcoin on: April 11, 2022, 05:46:32 PM
So just by installing the mobile app on your new phone, you are somehow able to recover the key lost from your old mobile app. Still no mention of seed phrases. Does this mean you create an account with them and their servers store another one of your keys? Completely unclear.
Block developing team is making this reports to get more feedback from people.
They can't answer clearly about anything because they are just in early discussion phase, and as far as I know they didn't even start developing device or making early models.
Pin code or fingerprint security protection and recovery is fine with some people but for me, and servers will probably holding this information in some encrypted formats.

So if I lose both my phone and the hardware device, then I have lost 2 out of the 3 keys, meaning only the 1 key they claim to hold is still accessible, meaning the coins in the 2-of-3 wallet are lost. Yet, they say that there will still be a way for me to recover my wallet.
Chances for losing both devices are low in reality, it would be similar like losing multiple devices or backups in any other multi-sig setup.
Holding those devices on different places may be a good idea, but it adds complexity if you are using them often or for daily transactions.
5070  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cexland - Centralized Crypto Exchange on: April 11, 2022, 11:11:58 AM
I can't even open this cexland website without cloudflare being activated, when finally loaded it looks like a cheap cloned website, and even owner confirmed they used some binance clone script for this.
Posting fake registration number with bad spelling and lame jokes on this topic, just making me feel this is one more fishy exchange, that could end up being a scam.
I am supporting the flag against them, I would stay away from this website, and I don't find information posted here by owner to be enough evidence for legitimate exchange.
5071  Economy / Reputation / Re: Nutildah? on: April 11, 2022, 11:00:45 AM
Does anyone know about nutildah's future plans?
I don't have any contact with nutildah, but you can always sent him a private message and ask him yourself about his plans, now when he logged back with his account.
It's time for him to let go of any grudge and bad feelings he has on one of the forum moderators who temp banned him for repeatedly moving his topic.
Crossing my fingers and I hope to see him back (even with his shitcoin avatar).
5072  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: [VELIKA LISTA] Hardverski novčanici (80+) on: April 11, 2022, 10:33:27 AM

5073  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Cease and desist notification(s) served to CSW / BSV re: the Bitcoin BTC logo. on: April 10, 2022, 09:54:28 PM
All and any use of the BSV "centred", "yellow" (unofficial Bitcoin) logo(s) and BCH "left tilted ", "green" (unofficial Bitcoin) logo(s) has breached my Threshold of Originality, as originator of the current Bitcoin BTC "right tilted", "orange" logo design and I have requested that they Cease and Desist.
Have you ever received any reply regarding this issue from some member of CSW, Roger Ver or anyone else connected with them?
I am sure that I saw more shitcoins that used same logo with minor changes or different colors but they are probably even less irrelevant than this two.

5074  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Thoughts about Passport hardware wallet on: April 10, 2022, 09:28:14 PM
What can you say about this criticism regarding air-gapped hardware wallet?. I'd appreciate it if you could say something about that.
I saw what Bitbox wrote about air-gapped hardware wallet and it looks like a lame explanation to me.
Just because they don't use this model doesn't mean this is bad, and they didn't really invent warm water with using Trezor code and adding secure element.
I could find many things that I don't like with their USB based device, like touch screen buttons, bad screen, etc.
For me air-gapped devices with QR codes are far superior compared to standard USB signing devices.

New real life images and videos are posted for Passport bath2 device from Bitcoin 2022 Miami Conference, and I have to say that screen is much better, and device overall looks great.
I would personally prefer to have all black color both front and back, but I think Foundation will release some protection skins or cases that can be replaced easily.
One thing I hope is they removed extra junk code and made it only as optional install.

5075  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Any vulnerabilities in changing OLED screen of Ledger Nano S? on: April 10, 2022, 09:10:17 PM
Heya! I'm aware that this question has been asked many times before. Still, I'd need some feedback from others to see if I'm making the right decision in purchasing a 0.91-inch OLED screen[1] to replace my Ledger Nano S, which had faded significantly after 1.5 years of use.
I wrote before about replacement display for ledger nono S and I posted confirmed links with exact compatible versions with images.
If you already have ledger with bad dim on display you can order new cheap display from Alibaba online or locally and replace it yourself following this video instructions.
Make sure you are purchasing this display with 12 PIN connector, or alternative option is to use smartphone cameras to see characters on your old display.
Note that I will repeat what SFR10 said about nono S that stopped production, and there will be no more support for them, like they did for all their old devices.
5076  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor mailing list breached on: April 10, 2022, 09:02:19 PM
Today I heard news for one more Mailchimp exploit related with Bitmex exchange, so it's not only Trezor wallet newsletter that is affected.
This is just confirmation of my suspicions that more exchanges are using Mailchimp and similar services.
Bitmex claims that no sensitive information was leaked, but people should expect to receive phishing email soon, so better get ready.

What should you do if your email was leaked?
- Change email address.
- Use unique strong passwords for your accounts.
- Use Two-Factor Authentication.
- Use Password manager like Keypass.

Email Bitmex customers are receiving on their emails:
Code:
We are contacting you because one of our email marketing vendors, Mailchimp, has informed us of a security breach they experienced that may have resulted in the exposure of your email address and name to a malicious actor.

No sensitive BitMEX data (such as passwords, account balances / addresses, trading history, etc.) was compromised because this issue affected the third-party vendor only.

BitMEX uses multiple vendors including Mailchimp to manage email mailing lists and newsletter sends.

We take this security breach at Mailchimp extremely seriously and as such have stopped using Mailchimp services.

However, going forward we strongly recommend that you continue to be vigilant for email phishing scams that might follow from the malicious actor, which according to Mailchimp targeted some of its crypto and finance clients.

Below, we have also outlined further actions you can take out of an abundance of caution to further safeguard your online accounts.

More Details from Mailchimp

Mailchimp recently advised us that they became aware of a malicious actor accessing one of their internal tools used by customer-facing teams for customer support and account administration. The actor gained access to this tool as a result of a successful social engineering attack on Mailchimp employees.

Mailchimp confirmed they swiftly addressed the situation by terminating access for the compromised employee accounts and taking steps to prevent additional employees from being affected.

Since taking these actions, Mailchimp advises they have seen no further malicious activity. They also advise us that they have undertaken a comprehensive security review of all their systems. We are as of yet unaware of any attempts by the malicious actor to send phishing messages to the email addresses that may have been exposed.

What Actions Can You Take?

In line with security best practices, we strongly recommend that all users protect their BitMEX and personal accounts by using strong and unique passwords, enabling Two-Factor Authentication, and using a password manager.

As a reminder, BitMEX Support will never ask you for your account password. If you observe unusual activity on your account, or if you receive an email that you believe may be fraudulent or phishing, please contact Support and we will be glad to assist you.

We constantly review our vendor relationships on the basis of many factors such as terms of services, service level agreement, and security.

As always, if you have any queries please contact support@bitmex.com.

Regards,
The BitMEX Team.

5077  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: I may have found an multi-chain opensource wallet on: April 10, 2022, 08:13:29 PM
Finally I may have found a multi chain open source crypto wallet but its wrong not to talk about it on here, who knows I may be wrong, its named cake wallet and its website is https://cakewallet.com/  this website also stated that its an open-source wallet and it looks like Electrum wallet kinda styles so here you have it guys.
Cake wallet doesn't look and work anything like Electrum wallet in any way and I remember they had big issues few months ago with their Bitcoin wallet, when they demanded mandatory change of seed words and addresses.
One more thing I don't like about Cake wallet is alternative option to backup wallets on cloud, that is something unacceptable for me even if it is optional feature.
I am not saying this is worst wallet in the world and it is open source, but I would not use it as my main mobile wallet.
5078  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Liars Data Collection on: April 09, 2022, 09:23:38 PM
Wasabi Wallet 2.0 is decades ahead of other privacy solutions in Bitcoin. There's Samourai that's a scam and so aggressive they scare away every newcomer who would like to develop for Bitcoin privacy. That leaves JoinMarket that's coming along nicely, however as a project without funding, its development is much slower.
This is topic about Ledger Live Data Collection, not about Wasabi wallet, please don't go off-topic anymore.
If you want to continue talking about Wasabi and answer many questions you didn't answer so far, better open new topic dedicated to Wasabi only.
Note that I am saying this to nopara73 and to everyone else Wink
Thank you.
5079  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Keeping coins on Wallets on: April 09, 2022, 09:15:23 PM
where is recommended to keep coins safe and get some incomes/profits from them?
You can't have both safety and profit from coins if you are using some centralized services and exchanges.
If you want safety you should use cold wallets or something like hardware wallets, that should be used if you have larger amount of coins.
You can experiment with some services that earn interest on Bitcoin but you should know that you are not holding private keys for those coins, and they can always get hacked or leak your infoirmation.

if wallets which one is trustworthy Atomic wallet, Exodus or..?
Both of them are closed source and I don't recommend them for anyone who is serious with keeping their coins safe.
Best light wallet you can use for bitcoin is Electrum, and if you want to store other altcoins consider using some hardware wallets.

and which Exchange server is your preferred? Kucoin or Binance?
I am not using this exchanges now and I switched to only true decentralized exchange called Bisq and AtomicDex for atomic swaps.
Kucoin has clear advantage compared to Binance, because you can still use it even without passing kyc verification, but both exchanges can freeze your coins and account at any time.
5080  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: SeedSigner DIY Signing Device on: April 09, 2022, 08:02:17 PM
Hi, was just doing some research about the seed signer. Just a question – it generates the seed phrase and a QR code – but it´s also possible to show the private key as pure text?
I don't think SeedSigner can show private key in pure text, but just to be sure you can ask them with contact form on their website or community in their telegram group.
Note that this device is stateless signer, so it's not keeping any private keys or seed words in memory, so when you turn of power everything will be deleted.
When you power on your device you will need to scan QR code (or enter manual seed words) to load your wallet every time.

PS
I prefer using plain old casino dices for generating seed words instead of seedsigner or any other hardware wallets.
