5141  Economy / Economics / Re: Here is how Iran plans to use cryptocurrencies to evade economic sanctions on: April 12, 2020, 08:22:48 AM
A short while ago the US placed sanctions on Iran, but the Iranian government is not just lying down and taking it. The lastest is from Saeed Muhammad is a proposition that will see Iran use cryptocurrencies to evade economic sanctions.

Here is how it could work: https://e-cryptonews.com/iranian-general-has-made-big-call-on-crypto/

Do you think that Cryptocurrency could be a solution to the economic sanctions imposed on Iran?

Sanctions against Iran has been imposed by previous US Presidents, trade, scientific and military since the 80's. Don't put it like it was just Trump who placed the embargo on them. This countries were at odds as far as I can remember.

As far as crypto being used by Iran, I'm pretty sure that US is following some footprints in blockchain. We all know that it is visible in the ledger and if they think they are smart and out manuever US then they are all wrong. US has all the means necessarily (if they want to) to track everyone even in blockchain technology with all the chain analysis investigators.
5142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino workers, asking for salary during the shutdown on: April 11, 2020, 09:24:04 AM
"We often think about gambling businesses having no income"

- I think this is wrong though, gambling business is a big income business and even though they've closest their casino, they have a lot of money at their disposal. And they could compensate their employees, whether it is a regular paying employee or not. They owe their success to those hard working guys and they should return this big favor to all the people around them. They can definitely cover all the lost they have incurred in this lock down very easily, once everything settles down.
5143  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Compliance exchange or decentralized exchange, which one do you prefer? on: April 11, 2020, 08:30:55 AM
For the record though, one DEX has problems recently, Hacker Exploits Flaw in Decentralized Bitcoin Exchange Bisq to Steal $250K.

Of course as personal preference, all we have is a decentralised exchange not those exchanges that require a mandatory KYC and funds are not save. So if you are going to get yourself involved in trading, you need to weight the pros and cons. @sheenshane laid out it out for us to see, so it is really up to us which one do you like best. You can try it yourself though, used bought services and see which one you are comfortable with.
5144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Corona virus exploited by some scammers on: April 11, 2020, 07:25:22 AM
You just have to go to Scam Accusations and see how many scams are running using the pandemic crisis. So if you really wanted to donate or something, might be good if you are going to start to help your local community first before giving out money to health organizations like WHO. It's far safe, instead of going online because you really don't know who to trusted at this point. Some scam websites really looks good and you can't even say that this is a fraud site. So much better go local first, IMHO.
5145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are we heading in a Sucker Rally ? on: April 10, 2020, 12:05:04 PM
I wouldn't categorically call this is a sucker rally, if it is then every rally and subsequent downside could be called as a sucker rally. We have seen this countless times and I would assume that crypto traders or investors are getting used to it by now. Everything still boils down to supply and demand, and people taking profits at a certain point, unless we are in a bull-run causing a big bubble like 2017. Nothing is specially seeing the price rebounding a huge drop then followed by profit taking.
5146  Other / Off-topic / Re: Ripple's Partner Sued for Cancelling Deal Over COVID-19 on: April 10, 2020, 10:11:07 AM
What are your thoughts about this one?

SoftBank reasons are:

- the corona virus pandemic has impacted their business their business
- WeWork is under criminal investigation and that's why they have distance themselves.

Do you think that is is a valid reason? Does WeWork has the chance to win or settle this out of court and they proceeded with the lawsuit?

The whole global financial markets has change since the covid-19 outbreak. So I'm guessing that Softbank was really hit hard by it that's why they decided to back up at the last minute because of the circumstances. I'm not sure if this is just verbal or have written agreement to start with. If there is a written agreement then it the game chances. We still have to see the lawsuit first, but I will assume that this will be settled out of court as not to drag this case for months or years that will have an impact on the two companies.

True, that's what I really thought in the beginning, but is this an excuse from backing out of the partnership? Or are there more compelling reasons?

When you open a business, lawsuit are a common thing. There are terms and conditions on every deal and if you violate it, you are going to get sued.
But companies generally do violate these rules as the outcome would be more favorable or cheaper than going with the original deal. Softbank ofcourse would have reasons to do so. And a company does so generally with a support of the standing board.

I disagree though, every business partnership entered have the goal to make profit for the two. And there are also protections in place if ever the partnership is dissolved. However, in this case they even hasn't started anything yet. Yes, it could be settled out of court as I have said, but I think there are more deeper reasons in dissolving the partnership, iMHO.
5147  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for Dev bounty sites, specifically for Crypto, any help? on: April 10, 2020, 08:52:51 AM
We are looking for help on a few dApp projects and need some bounty sites to spread the word.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? We are looking for Crypto focused sites but general ones will do too
On bitcointalk, if you want to put up a developers bounty or look for people who would be interested in working on your platform then you should post something related to "how it is connected to bitcoin" and then post it in the services sub here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0

Yes, that board should be a good start to the OP, he will just have to create a thread and put as much detail as he can so that he can attract a lot of good coders in this community. Just a warning though, I'm sure he will get a lot of messages from newbie, so stay away from them. Just be careful on choosing the person that you are going to hire and get a good escrow, so that both parties will have a 'safe deal'.

Did anyone see the news about Federer practising in the snow hitting the ball against the wall. At least he is back practising which is a good sign but like we have been saying its not the same as match fitness but that goes for all the players right now.
You should have post the link here mate.

Roland Garros will take place from 20th september to 4th october 2020, it's official now and confirmed by the ATP.

That is interesting as France has some of the highest cases in the world right now, I know it will most likely slow down by then but with Wimbledon being cancelled I am surprised to see that the ATP have said that the French Open will be played this year. Don't get me wrong, I hope it does go ahead but I do have doubts as Europe has the highest cases in the world and it doesn't look like slowing down right now.

Yes, this is very interesting indeed, I just mentioned that Switzerland could be a good candidate to continue, pushing Roland Garros in France which is one of the highest case of the Covid-19 sounds very scary specially for fans. I don't know why they decided to continue despite the risk of the pandemic. Still five months from know and maybe they are thinking way ahead here. That in five months time this whole health crisis will be over by I doubt it.
5149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is it bad to store 24 words from Ledger hardware wallet in password manager? on: April 10, 2020, 03:22:19 AM
If I was to open the Keepass file with the 24 word phrase on a computer connected to the internet to see what it was years later, will this be a bad idea? Should I always open the file on a offline Tails OS computer to recovery my word phrase?

Every time you connect your devices online is a risk. So it is better to do everything offline to be on the safe-side. Hackers and malwares are everywhere so the best thing we can do is go off-grid.

@vella85 - As I have said, athletes have learn to adapt at the current situation. As you can see in the video, specially in the last seconds, you can clearly see him somewhat wanted to smash a winner, LOL. I think he is very eager to get in the game now, because even in snow he can still pull that trick shot.

@tyKiwanuka - Medvedev had good break out year in 2019, but sadly though, in the first half of the year, or least prior to the suspension because of the Covid-19, he has somewhat playing flat at up that point.

That is true mate, players will adapt to the situation that they are given however I still think that match fitness might effect some players once tennis is back up and running again. We now know that Wimbledon will be cancelled and the French Open but there is still hope for the US Open which is played in September and maybe they could even push it back a month if things haven't got better by then. Like I have said, the main concern I have is the money side as the economy will most likely be in bad shape once we come out of this and maybe there won't be much funding to host sporting events. I hope it doesn't come to this but it could happen.

I do hope that we can really see at least one Grand Slam for this year. But I wouldn't be surprised if US Open will also be cancelled in September unless everything has cleared by that time. I do agree that the economy of sports will be in bad shape by that time specially if we didn't see any tournament for this year. Maybe we can see some cut from major prizes next year just to be able to compensate what we have lost due to the pandemic this 2020. And I think everyone will understand, we need to start somewhere else.

Yeah hopefully we do as the US are now expecting this week as the peak of the virus so hopefully then the cases start to decrease and then maybe we could see the US Open being played even if it is delayed by a month or two. I did see some reports that some sports might play in China as the virus has been on the decline however I can't see this happening as I think China and a lot of other people believe they have lied about their cases. Time will tell if we see any tennis this year.

Yes, China has a history of skewing data in the past, even the doctor who have first notice and subsequent alerted people have been silence (unfortunately, he succumb to the virus itself). So I doubt that the Tennis Federation will go to China for just to proceed with the remaining games in the calendar. We really have to sit it out and wait. Or maybe Switzerland, Covid-19 cases are low, so who knows. The only thing we can do is just watch some replays.  Smiley.
5151  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: April 09, 2020, 02:40:15 PM
{ .. snip ..}

There are many people who have recovered from the virus itself and we already know that those that are severely affected are people that are old specially with health complications like diabetes and hearth disease, those are the high risk. So obviously, if you are a basketball player chances are, you are not old and doesn't have the that risk factors. So I don't know how a NBA player dunking after they have recovered will make a difference. We have so much to be learn from this virus, one thing is clear though: Age is a risk factor here. And people might response differently, one might be severely affected, while others are asymptomatic.
5152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Casimero Bantamweight Unification Fight on: April 08, 2020, 11:12:00 PM
This fight will be the best fight this year if it could happen this year. These two fighters right now are at their prime and they will give us a wonderful fight to see. Those who love to see some pass punch exchanges would not want to skip this fight in its live show whether on Television or in the Arena. I hope this pandemic will end soon so that we can watch some exciting fights like this and some other good games in the NBA too.
I'm sure I'll not gonna miss this fight, whether it will happen this year or next year, this surely a fight that everyone wants to see.
Monster vs a one claiming he is the true monster, this is a toe to toe fight, and the strongest wins the fight, Casimero for the win here, I've put my bet already.

As boxing fans we're eagerly awaiting for this fight to happen and everyone is pump up and excited when the fight was announced. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 derailed fight fight to happen. I would say that Casimero is the more battle tested and experience fighter in terms of exposure. One advantage of Inoue though is that he is slowly rising star, already in the pound-4-pound list. But Casimero records speak for itself, maybe he is the underdog here, but he is a live underdog and we wanted him to stop Inoue as he is a "sentimental" favorite because Filipinos around the world are backing him up.

Ripple's Partner Sued for Cancelling Deal Over COVID-19

SoftBank, Ripple’s partner in the MoneyTap and PayPay-LINE deal, has cancelled its $9.6 bln deal with WeWork due to the coronavirus' effect on customers and now WeWork is suing the financial conglomerate.

5154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Addresses With 1 BTC Are On The Rise, As Bitcoin Exits Exchanges on: April 08, 2020, 11:45:22 AM
Bitcoin become cheaper last March, so obviously, there could be investors we bought 1 BTC or those investors who are closing in to get into that 1 BTC and see the opportunity last month to fill their bags. We are in a looming recession, perhaps those who withdraw from exchanges just wanted to make sure that they have control over their coins in a worst case scenario. Other logical reason is that they needed fiat in this pandemic.
5155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My record of information about gambling investments. on: April 08, 2020, 11:21:53 AM
Back in 2017, I made a thread I could not maintain after a while. Mine was inspired by this one.

CGN was still one of the more profitable investment options in crypto casino shared bankroll, but I was very lucky to have enjoyed good returns with MoneyPot (and I actually withdrew BEFORE they almost went bust) and others.

I would add that not everyone has been lucky with casino bankroll investments, as a look at 2017/2018 casino bankroll investment posts in Securities will show you.

Yup, I remember those thread. Maybe others could be interested on see this thread by Luptin although it has been archived. [Archived] Profit tracking. and this, Bustadice vs DiceBet Leveraged Investment Returns - Recorded Weekly - 0.6BTC!. Old thread but I'm sure potential gambling investors could learn a thing or two by going through them specially risk/reward scenario.

5157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: In what way can the crypto world help fight against Covid 19? on: April 07, 2020, 12:08:40 PM
Crypto world is really doing something with regards to the pandemic. Binance for one has a charity program which donates $1 million already.

@binance
The donation of $1,000,000 in $BUSD has been made:

And regarding your questions, I guess the best way is to donate on organizations that accepts crypto. Just be careful though, there are a lot of fake websites that impersonates charitable institutions.
5158  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] FAKE BITCOIN GIVEAWAY on: April 07, 2020, 11:24:38 AM
We have someone in this board (un)officially maintain a list of fake giveways, [Warning] Phishing Cryptocurrency Website.

But good catch, everyone in crypto should bonded and fight these scammers taking advantage, specially noobs who can easily fall for this kind of tricks.
5159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Look at the setup that is developing right now for crypto on: April 07, 2020, 10:27:37 AM
So 3 things:

1)Market optimism is about to explode assuming we are truly moving away from Corona
2) Stimulus Checks
3) Halving

Is this the perfect storm coming?

Market has been always been optimistic specially that we are about to enter the touted bitcoin halving. It's that the Covid-19 has somewhat derailed everything for us. However, on the bright side, with stimulus packages, it could be the one that will really push the price where it should be prior to the outbreak. So yes, probably this could be the start of a big pump or bubble in the next coming months. You might call it perform storm, but this is long overdue, IMHO.
5160  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crowded Casinos - Play or not? on: April 07, 2020, 08:01:47 AM
And now just imagined what had happened to that casino today. It is now empty because of the Covid-19 pandemic, LOL. Yes, I like to play on traditional land base casino, however, I haven't seen such crowded casino's before. Another thing to ponder, that scenario will really spread the virus so quickly that it's going to be a nightmare for health officials right now. I think everyone can really appreciate what online games can bring to us, specially our safety.

I liked to go to casinos, that was before. From the time I joined crypto-currencies I stopped. Gambling from
home is better for me, I don't need to go anywhere, I have a little office in my house, when I do something on
computers wife and kids don't bother me. Why would I spend time and money to go to casino when I can do
everything from home?!
Covid pandemic is just on of the reasons for staying home! With that I agree! We need to stay safe, going
out from the house and mixing with other people wouldn't be good. From the start of Covid pandemic I am lucky
to be here in crypto-currencies and that I can do all the things I like online without any trouble.

It's the other way around for me, I'm a frequent physical casino guy, love to play and get the feel of the atmosphere and probably meet fellow gamblers in the casino that I used to play. During my heyday, it was part of my daily life to go to casino after office and play. But as I have said, when the Covid-19 pandemic started, you might have second thoughts of going on a crowded casino. Yes, I do play online from time to time, but I'm a regular land base casino player. So I still don't know if I still have the "courage" to go after everything settles down.
