5161  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Rank and Activity points calculator, v1.0 on: December 20, 2017, 07:52:27 AM
The calculations looks correct till now.Got my Activity points today as planned so I guess first test has been passed successfully.

Here is a little gem of knowledge that's often omitted from all activity calculator discussion: If you make more than 14 posts a fortnight, they don't go to waste. The excess posts will count as additional activity in the future activity periods where you've made less than 14 posts.

Yeah just experienced it myself that if you post more than 14 post per 2 weeks the extra posts automatically generate Activity points after your first comment in the new 2 weeks time span. This is great.

Maybe this is the reason why the Bitcoin drop to 17k$ today. I was wondering what happend when it crossed 19K $early this morning and started to fall.
5163  Other / Meta / Re: Ideas for improving post quality? on: December 19, 2017, 11:01:41 PM
theymos, this is a perfect example of the beast you have created by linking signatures with activity. Remove signatures from activity and this nonsense stops immediately. How can we compete against bots doing this? Currently anyone can create an unlimited amount of accounts and when users are using bots like he is to just copy a post and change a few words for synonyms it's often very hard to notice. I've just banned this account but how many others does he have doing the same? It's utterly pointless banning accounts if he's got 200 others that I've missed that will still be botting away. Things need to change. Do me favour and look into this user and just tell me how many alt accounts you can find. There are dozens upon dozens of individuals farming thousands of accounts this way and it's only going to get worse over time. The worst thing about this is once they hit a sufficient rank they can get paid by lazy ICO campaigns for merely copy and pasting and they'll never notice the abuse.
if theymos could implement a script for determining something along the lines of 'merit points' asscoated with general post quality, i wouldn't be against the idea of signatures being linked to those points instead, it would provide an initial incentive for good post quality from the start an account is created, and provide a long term incentive for maintaining a good post quality. if theymos can also implement other factors in, suchas deleted posts for not following forum rules, it'll also push members towards following the general forum rules. maybe even diminishing returns on merit points (or whatever they're to be called) can be used for people with alt accounts, or accounts on the same ip.  just some rambling thoughts.

Or just simply make a subscription fee for all the users or just for participation in spesific forum sections like the bounty and signature once. So in order to participate in a bounty or signature campaign the user have to pay some fee to the forum and those money can be ivested in moderators. The high rank members can have lower fees, higher for newbies. It's just an idea. The forum is a grate place for me and I am willing to pay what it takes to make it even better.
5164  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN @ $20,000 A PIECE BEFORE 2017 ENDS? on: December 18, 2017, 07:40:54 PM
It is rising slowly but surely til now. I guess it will pass the 20k$ soon but it will come a drop after that. It almost reached 19800$ on coinbase a week or two ago and then it crushed done to 13k$, but this is complete normal. Maybe a better question is if it will stabilise on 20k$. This year. Last few months were really crazy. I wanted to buy when it was 1000$, I was on vacation and decided to buy when I come back but then it was already 3K$ now we are talking about 20k$. It's insane
5165  Other / Meta / Re: Ideas for improving post quality? on: December 18, 2017, 09:42:21 AM
Here is my opinion as a quite new member. Keeping the forum free of spammers is important but it's not an easy task as it requires more manpower or smart optimization. Here are some issues I've faced myself.
* Big part of the new users are not following/ reading the rules.  But there are also not so well organized rules and it's not easy to find them. Newbies keep asking the same questions over and over again. Maybe this is the way to improve other members Activity points.

* The search engine is poor in search options and it's not easy to find what actually you are looking for. I couldn't sort by date the results and I had to scroll quite a lot.

*Why there is no 2FA on the login? If you have sms authentication and long process for changing your initially registered mobile number it will be difficult for people to register 100 account and reduce the account selling.

5166  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [HELP] Sent Bitcoin from Coinbase to Bitconnect, Not Received on: December 16, 2017, 06:19:55 PM
Hi everyone,

I sent 0.66 BTC from Coinbase and 1.6 BTC from Abra to my Bitconnect login.  In Coinbase, it says the transaction is confirmed.  I can view both the transaction and the receiving BTC wallet in BlockCypher with the correct balance (2.2BTC).  I also checked the wallet balance in Blockchain.info, and it shows the 2.2 BTC. But, in my Bitconnect account, I only receive 1.6 BTC.

I made these deposits 5 minutes right before the website's maintenance.  But, after the website is back live for ~12 hours till now, I only get the 1.6 BTC.

Can anyone help me understand what might cause this issue?  And is it possible to find/retrieve the Bitcoin?

BlockCypher transaction: https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/tx/f70d410bc38b4eb8e11988fcf57ece583e3b04014f3b59c05ba74515e4c8070e/
Wallet Balance in BlockCypher: https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/address/13Wu5huCEkRTeR7ni93zzRsSUK6MeMeJmL/
Wallet Balance in Blockchain.info: https://blockchain.info/address/13Wu5huCEkRTeR7ni93zzRsSUK6MeMeJmL

At this point, I think Bitconnect is the only one who can help out.  But, they haven't been responding to my email and tickets.
Appreciate any other ideas.   Cry

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Maybe it's too late to say it, but stay away from Bitconnect
Hope you get your coins back , but for your next investment try to search before you invest. There are so many scam and Ponzi schemes available online now so it is not easy to decide where to put your money. That's why you have to search and read and use credible sources like  this forum.
Good luck!
5167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building a Monero rig,newbie here on: December 15, 2017, 12:03:15 PM
Thank you for the comments, It is a bit more clear now.

As I said earlier I have a lot of parts laying around, which don't cost anything to me.
So any suggestions are welcome Smiley

Do the RAM plays a role in the whole ting? 16/32/64 GB what is best?

Regarding the MB, which one to choose now? Here are the specifications:

https://www.asus.com/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/MAXIMUS_IV_EXTREMEZ/specifications/
4 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x8 or x8, x16, x16)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x4
1 x PCIe 2.0 x1

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_990FX_R20/specifications/
3 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (dual x16 or x16/x8/x8)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x1

Asus maximus iv extreme z has more PCIe slots so maybe its gonna be better.
I have 2 other MBs with i7s 1st gen.

Other think to consider, if I stack 2 PSUs , 1x650W and 1x550W = 1200W will be enough to feed the 5 cards?
Can I stack one more 550W in
5168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: is minergate a scam? on: December 15, 2017, 11:34:52 AM
It's not a scam but is not as effective as the others pools. I also get a lower rates there. Another thing is that there is there is a difference between what is shown on the Dashboard and on the actual miner. Shows higher hash rate on the miner and lower on their website.
5169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Building a Monero rig,newbie here on: December 14, 2017, 03:06:34 PM
Hello and lets get directly to the point.
I have some old hardware I would like to use in mining Monero.

At the moment I have the following:
GPUs: 2x gtx 560ti, 1xgtx590 1X gtx770 4gb 1x AMD 5850, 1x AMD 4850 1xAMD 7950
CPU + MBs : AMD FX8350 + Sabertooth 990fx r2 , i7 2600K + Asus maximus iv extreme z
PSUs> Corsair 650w , Coirsair 550w gold 80 , Corsair 550W

Have enough RAM, HDDs, SSDs, Coolers, and other components. I have ordered an adapter to stack two PSUs. I will order some PCI riser as well.

At the moment I was mining with the GTX770 + FX8350 + HD5850 + i7 2600K ~ 1000 H/s / also using them for heating now in the winter but they are not working 24/7. Have to mention that I was using MinerGate .  I think now im gonna build a one miner to put in all the old hardware.

Power costs are irrelevant at the moment.

So here some questions:
1. Which MB to use for mining of the once I have now?
2. Can I mine with GPU + CPU ?
3. Can I mine with NVidia and AMD in the same time?
4. Which software to use instead of MinerGate which will allow me to mine with all the cards

Any suggestions are welcome Smiley

5170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investment regrets! on: December 14, 2017, 02:17:08 PM
My biggest regret is that I did't start reading about bitcoin when a friend of mine told me about it. And he ask me if I want to invest. That was back in 2009 at the beginning. Now we met again and we actually bought bitcoin this time. It's never too late for the cryptocurrency.
5171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is It advisable to quit my present job for bitcoin? on: December 14, 2017, 12:46:31 PM
Never give up on your job because it's fixed income, and you know you will get so-and-so money at the end of the month, with bitcoins or any other speculative way to earn money you have no guaranty at all that you gonna finish the month on plus. It's most like gambling, because you never know what will happen in the future, unless you are an fortune-teller, crystal-gazer, spaewife orowhatever they call it. Just a joke..
Let the bitcoin be your hobby/extra income but not your main income. This is what I do,speculating in the spare time just for fun.
5172  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-11]More than 200,000 bitcoins seized by the Bulgarian authorities ... on: December 13, 2017, 10:18:48 AM
More than 200k bitcoins. So, when are they going to sell that huge amount of bitcoins?
I know they are not going to hold that amount of bitcoins forever. We might get some bonuses during the auctions.

It would be nice if that Bitcoin can be auctioned to interested participants. I am sure a lot of buyers would be interested to jump on such an opportunity not just within the country but also adjoining territories. I am hoping that the government will use the 'free' money for programs that can help the people and strengthen the government's ability to apprehend illegal activities and criminals. This is some sort of a blessing in disguise for the government.

I really doubt that, with so corrupted government all the bitcoins are long gone, shared between some specific people. Now some investigating journalists are after the bitcoins but i really doubt it that they will find something. It's not the first time so big amount disappear, a few years ago happen the same thing with Corporate Commercial Bank AD,  3.5 billion leva, around 1.7 billion Euro just disappeared in one night in 2014 and till now no one  is accused.

5174  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do I need a wallet to store bitcoin when starting? on: December 13, 2017, 09:39:38 AM
First welcome to the forum.
Yes if you want to store your bitcoins you have to have a wallet. But here comes a question, now you gonna acquire your fist coins, buying, faucets, working for coins?  If you are buying from Exchanges they also offer wallets like coinbase, binance, etc.
You have different alternatives, blockchain.info is a good start.
Check this useful thread  > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1631151.0
If you look around in this Beginners & Help section you will probably find a lot of information not only for wallets, but for most of the questions you have.
Good luck Smiley

5175  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-12-11]More than 200,000 bitcoins seized by the Bulgarian authorities ... on: December 11, 2017, 12:00:37 PM
This news somehow missed the news feeds in May. Now one investigating site is trying figure out where all this bitcoins went.

Here is the news from the SELEC - Souteast European Law Enforcments Center :

Quote
On May 19, 2017, with SELEC‘ support, the Bulgarian authorities successfully finalized the joint investigation PRATKA/VIRUS in the field of cybercrime, committed by compromising the countries Customs computerized systems in order to avoid and save taxes. The organized criminal group consisted in Bulgarian nationals having connections in The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Hellenic Republic, Romania and Republic of Serbia. The modus operandi used was recruiting corrupted Customs officers in all involved countries with the purpose to infiltrate a virus in the Customs’ computerized systems. Once the virus installed, from distance, the offenders were able to finalize various transports, as in the Customs’ system appeared that the cargo was already checked and passed.

The Bulgarian authorities have searched more than 100 addresses, suspects and vehicles. A large quantity of money was seized, as well as equipment, devices for communication, computers, tablets, bank documents, etc. 23 suspects were arrested, 5 of them acting as Bulgarian Customs officers. As result of this criminal activity the damages recorded by the Customs Agency, only for year 2015, is around 10 million Leva. As well, up to now were found in the virtual space bitcoin wallets of the main suspects with a total value of 213,519 bitcoins. As a reference, the value of one bitcoin is rating to 2354 USD. The offenders choose the bitcoin way of investing/saving the money, because it is rather difficult to be tracked and followed.

The judicial procedures against the offenders are currently ongoing, eight of them being already permanently detained

5176  Economy / Services / Re: Do You Have a Coinbase Wallet? Get 5,000 Satoshi For Sign-Up & Quick Task on: December 11, 2017, 11:30:59 AM
It's a good site, I can confirm as I got my second payment a few days ago but sometimes there are problems with the login/logout. Sometimes it kicks me off and even if I login again, after the fist few clicks I'm automatically out. I have reported this before.

The surveys are a bit problematic, I finished two the other day and I got my reward only for the first one, the second time that it happens. Registered also for some Russian dating site but got no reward for it either Sad ... if my wife finds out about it, idk how i'm gonna explain it;).

Anyway, for me the overall rating of the site is high. I enjoyed my time making my satoshi there. It's understandable that there gonna be some things to be fixed but that's the point here, to test it,find errors and promote it.

Good luck to the OP with this project Smiley

5178  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Google 2FA help on: December 11, 2017, 10:10:11 AM
I have been trough this a few weeks ago. The only way to get back the access to you accounts is to white to the their support to remove your 2FA if you don't have your backups. For me it took around 2 weeks to get back access to all my accounts. Well sometimes they ask question so they can be sure that you are the owner of the account. Something important you need to remember, when you enable the 2FA again on your accounts, before you scan the RQ code with your phone, take a screenshot of it and print it on paper, just for backup. Do this for every 2FA you enter in the Google app and you will not have any problems in the future. In the moment you scan the QR code from the paper backup u can have access to your accounts.

Thank you, in this case if they do not add support for the previous/upcoming coins you are actually losing them. Good to know, maybe they have to note this somewhere so people can be informed.
