521  Economy / Economics / Re: Investments with Compound interest. on: November 09, 2017, 06:29:20 AM
I wish there are such investments too, but sadly, things in life don't come for free. If you search up 'bitcoin investment sites', I bet all of them are scam and will run away with your money in the future. Those sites 'promise' high returns over months, with unrealistic rates of interest.

Ok, think about it this way. Where do they get their money from? You may think that you 'invest' in them so that they can make more money, but if so, why would they share it with you? They can just get that rates themselves and become quadrillionaires in a decade.

So, try not to 'invest' in any sites. However, there are lending sites that gives you small amount of interest, but it isn't worth the risks and the possible fees.
Poloniex is an example: https://poloniex.com/lending#BTC

Just check this board called investor-based games and see the scams for yourself. Smiley
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=207.0

Honestly, Bitcoin is a good investment, so by holding bitcoin, you are getting 'interest'.
522  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Blawks - Invest in Blockchain on: November 09, 2017, 06:19:30 AM
I've visited your site but I am still unsure what is your goal, is it to create a forum that provides information about blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies to users? Because right now, it just seems to me like another forums, and I have seen many users create forums similar, but not successful.

If you want to make it successful, you have to show how your site is different from bitcointalk. And if you are planning to attract visitors through this forum, that defeats the purpose, and I believe many sources of information can be found here.
523  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which one is a better investment Bitcoin Or Ethereum, on: November 09, 2017, 05:35:24 AM
Hey there! Since you are new, I suggest trading with Bitcoin, as it is the first cryptocurrency and widely accepted by many. It seems to be growing a lot lately, so it is still a good investment to date.

Once you familiarized yourself with the crypto world, you can check out other altcoins, airdrops, ICOs, and many more! Smiley As for investing Bitcoin, get a good Bitcoin Wallet, like CoinBase, or for more security, Electrum, Mycelium etc.

You can get Bitcoins from exchanges, so try to search them up to know better. Good luck!
524  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the USA be #1 again in currency if it adopts Bitcoin? on: November 09, 2017, 05:23:26 AM
I do not really see a clear connection about adopting Bitcoin and causing USD to rise, however, I do know that when a fiat currency inflates, more people will buy Bitcoins, causing Bitcoin price to go up.

In the case of China, they think that adopting Bitcoin will cause their fiat yuan to be 'devalued' as Bitcoin may overtake, so I am unsure how Bitcoin may cause USD to rise.  Undecided
525  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: ▂▃▅▆█ DEADLY LIST OF ALL ICO RESOURCES !!! █▆▅▃▂ on: November 08, 2017, 03:05:09 PM
You missed out my favorite site: CoinSchedule

https://www.coinschedule.com/

It has a very extensive list of ICOs out there, even those that are upcoming, and the site is easy to use. Would highly recommend this site. Even contains the basic information of every ICO as well. Smiley Smiley
526  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Daily - Price Analysis with top 3 stories delivered to your inbox on: November 08, 2017, 02:55:00 PM
Hi, I have read your past daily newsletter and I find them to be really insightful and comprehensive, nice to read, but then I would prefer a more summarized news, a more of on-the-go type as I would want to quickly read these news on the go for example on the bus or even during break time at work. Smiley

I suggest having a more simple and weekly newsletter with more figures, data and images if possible to make it look less wordy. Cheers! Cheesy
527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All Legenday/Hero members should support Bitoin Cash! on: November 08, 2017, 02:44:16 PM
Yeah, what vltnqefi has said, if you are dealing with large amounts and you are looking to invest, just stick to BTC. As to have less fees, why Bitcoin Cash and not any other altcoins like DogeCoins?

Maybe if we start supporting Bitcoin Cash, the price will skyrocket and maybe the fees will be about the same. Not sure if it is a good thing whether BCC is successful. I believe many of us are still uncomfortable with moving all our Bitcoins to BCC,  as it is unstable and who knows what may happen.  Undecided
528  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another hard fork along with bitcoin gold will make another impact? on: November 08, 2017, 01:06:55 PM
I agree with you. I don't like the idea of having multiple Bitcoin alts as they make no sense to me and I would still prefer having the 'authentic' one. However, there's pretty much nothing we can do to this coming fork so just sit back, hold your coins, and see what happens.

It's free coins after all, and we have nothing much to lose, except getting confused, with the chance of Bitcoin getting heavily devalued. We'll see... hopefully no more forks...
529  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Why do bitcoin Exchanges have different prices? on: November 08, 2017, 01:55:09 AM
Different exchanges have their own internal markets, and the price of Bitcoin in the exchanges depend on the buyers and the sellers in the exchange, so the prices fluctuate a lot.  However, users can buy and sell between multiple exchange sites so that they can buy at the lowest and sell at the highest.

Thats why it is an advantage to trade at multiple sites to get these benefits, however, bear in mind the trading fees and the withdrawal fees, so unless you are trading at a large volume, it is still not worth it. Smiley
530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin goes mainstream, the world's first trillionaires will be born. on: November 08, 2017, 01:42:45 AM
Hopefully not, but Bitcoin is making the rich richer, sadly. Sad As for being a trillionaire, it is still a far way to go, quite impossible to achieve since it would require a high price for Bitcoin, possibly 1 million, and the person to hold 1 million coins.  Smiley

I have to agree that the wealth gap will be an issue, but to how far Bitcoin encourages it, I have no clue. For now it does not affect that much, but as it becomes mainstream like what you mentioned, it is definitely possible.
531  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: learning trading of crytpcurrency? on: November 06, 2017, 09:59:21 AM
Since you are new, I recommend visiting CoinMarketCap, a site which shows many cryptocurrencies and its value, and you should monitor the prices and try predicting whether the price will increase or decrease.

To start trading, you can go to exchange sites like Poloniex or Bittrex, Polo is easy to use, Bittrex has more coins to choose from, your choice. Smiley Start by trading with 1 or 2 coins, especially those with higher trading volume, which means the more popular ones, so that you do not buy coins that just drops in value as soon as you buy.

Start trading with a small amount. Soon, you will get some experience which then you can trade a bit more, with more coins. Best of luck! Cheesy
532  Economy / Economics / Re: Donation Based Universal Basic Income - Good or Bad? on: November 06, 2017, 03:06:19 AM
Not happy to see that reaction Sad

Donation based is the key.

Nobody has to pay into it.. people who are good hearted can choose to do so, and then essentially they are paying the users of the currency to use it.  So if investors want to buy currency, they should see it as a positive, because even if they don't contribute.. users are being incentivized to use the currency.

Sorry, didn't meant to put you down like that. Sad I get what you mean now, that the investors that choose to participate can promote this coin which benefits them. Don't mind me back then, I was trying to be realistic and think from their perspective. In this case, maybe you can try to make it such that users less then (a threshold) in their earnings cannot participate, as they might be 'freeloaders'.  Roll Eyes

I think more information regarding how this works would be useful, for instance what does 2.75% of their spendings and earnings mean? Do they take from their profits based on their trades with the coins, or the value of the coins?

With a little bit of improvisation, this may work out, but I still have some doubts to this profit sharing community though.
533  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Should Electrum Dev Team maintain compatibity with obsolete Operating Systems? on: November 06, 2017, 02:58:16 AM
Short answer: Yes. Regardless of how old the system is, the user is a customer and will still be, and any service provider (Electrum), should always tend to their customers no matter what, and it should not be an one-time off deal. You buy, I take the money, and you do whatever you want? It should not be this way.

Like what you mentioned, Microsoft continued to find bugs in Windows 7 and warns its users to quickly update and patch it. Remember WannaCry and Petya ransomware attacks? They exploit bugs on old computers, which is why it is the companies' responsibilities to look out for its customers and help them. I would say Microsoft has done enough, but more could have been done to warn its users.

If you are a user of Electrum with an older OS, and something goes wrong, who should take responsibility? Is it the user that failed to update? But the thing is, when the user downloaded the version (that was considered 'new' at that time), it was said to be safe and 'error-less', so the companies/devs should be the ones to take action if anything goes wrong. Smiley

Well if the devs find bugs in the older versions, they can always fix it and perhaps make its newer versions even better by learning on their past mistakes, so not exactly waste time, but I get what you mean. Cheesy
534  Economy / Economics / Re: Donation Based Universal Basic Income - Good or Bad? on: November 06, 2017, 02:38:17 AM
Why would people join though? This sounds like communism and EU to me, the 'richer' has no incentives or any reasons to stay, and they even pay others for nothing much in return, which is a flaw in this system.  Undecided

I would say this would not work, unless the 'richer' are given coins/stakes that may have value or other rewards, but it would still be hard to attract people. Would you want to participate if others participate just to get a share of the pot money?

535  Economy / Exchanges / Re: alternative of coinbase on: November 06, 2017, 02:00:47 AM
Hi there! I am a user of Coinbase and I can definitely vouch for it. If you are planning to buy Bitcoins frequently long-term, do try to increase the limit which will make your life easier. Smiley

As for Coinsquare, I have never used it before. Coinsquare seems to be a good option too as it has low trade fees, 0.1-0.2%, but has 1% withdrawal fees. You can try Kraken too if you haven't, it has a larger trading volume and is more popular out there. Wink
536  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Broad Exposure of Bitcoin Address on: November 05, 2017, 02:08:36 PM
Hi, welcome to the Bitcoin community!! Sure, if you get famous like the guy on TV did, you can get donations. Another way is to create works like videos, songs, articles about Bitcoin and people may just donate to you.

One thing that you should know is that transferring Bitcoin has transaction fees like 3 USD, which makes donating small amounts not worth it, so it is hard to ask for donations nowadays, unless it is large scale.

Just for your info, there used to be this service called ChangeTip that Reddit and YouTube supports, and you can basically give others small amounts of BTC with no fees (off-chain transactions), like 100 satoshis. Sadly, it is discontinued now. You may get better luck asking for donations of altcoins, like DogeCoins, LTC... but they will be less popular.

Since you are interested in Bitcoin, you might want to get more, or developing a more legit site to what you have now. Cheers! Cheesy
537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nov 16 Bitcoin Fork questions on: November 05, 2017, 09:11:01 AM
A desktop wallet like Mycelium and Electrum are fine, and they each have their separate instructions to getting the B2X after the fork. keeping your coins on an exchange may be easier, but less safe as problems may occur, or the exchange may shut down/get attacked.

When the fork comes, do listen to others for advice and keep an eye out for whatever steps that may still your coins, and follow the instructions carefully for your coins to be safe. Smiley
538  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unsecured WiFi on: November 05, 2017, 08:38:44 AM
Just keep all your passwords safe and do not expose them when you are connected. Hackers can steal your information through sites you have visited, which they can then take the site's cookies and possibly get your passwords and other information.  Undecided

Make sure you disable any form of sharing of files through your internet. Use a VPN to encrypt your data, and try not to access sites that are important to you, e.g. Online wallets, bank accounts.

I would not connect to an unsecured WiFi if there is something important on your laptop if I were you, but if you really have to, take the above precautions. Stay safe! To answer your question, I am not sure, but it is possible as you may leak your desktop wallet passwords or private keys accidentally.
539  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase Problem on: November 05, 2017, 07:03:59 AM
Try refreshing, restarting your computer. F5. Make sure you have the lastest Java software downloaded. The website works fine for me, so the issue should be on your side, I'm sure it would work if you try again now. Also, Coinbase does not have low fees, I am a user, and the fees are pretty much the same with Electrum and all, and they are fixed as well.

One thing I like about Coinbase is the user interface though.

I remember they were doing a giveaway for signing up with them.
Do they still offer to really give you $10 worth of bitcoin when you register with them?
That would work out to only 0.001btc by todays prices.
You only get the free 10$ if your referrer buys $100 worth of Bitcoin, and your referrer gets the same bonus as well. Smiley
540  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin new high 7500 USD on: November 05, 2017, 06:54:56 AM
Its reaching 7500$ guys!! Dont sell your Bitcoins now!! @$7479 currently, and I hope it would break the limit. Just a week ago I thought it would be till the end of the year before Bitcoin goes to $7000, and now? Bitcoin is really rising fast, and I'm putting my hopes on it. Go!! Smiley
