521  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Imprisonment on LGBTQ on victim your thought on: March 06, 2024, 02:02:39 PM
It's no longer news that Africa have been condemning the practice of LGBTQ over the years but have not sanction defaulter, I was reading the news  l saw one Africa country parliament passing bills to purnish any who is victim to LGBTQ.
This  thrilled my mind to discuss this in the board if the government is doing the right thing based on Africa way if believe and practice or taken wrong direction. You can read through this link for more information
https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/2/28/ghanas-parliament-passes-anti-lgbtq-bill
Firstly, in the African setting, most of the laws are all coined from cultural beliefs, practices and all that.
Since the gay concept clashes with their religious and cultural practices, they do not accept it.
To them, any one practicing those acts are seen in a very bad light, don't have a good place in society.
And if all this is the case, then it's totally normal for laws to be enacted against LGBTQ.
So aware that your sexuality is not accepted in a jurisdiction, it's better not to practice with in that space.
Imagine a gay foreigner from a 'gay legal' country goes into Ghana and wants to act the same way.
It won't work.
522  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Communication as part of life in the society on: March 06, 2024, 01:48:24 PM
Have come to see that communication plays a big role,in our lives mentally, socially, and other wise.if a government those not have a good communication level with the people there is always problems.in your business you are not having good communication with your customers there is problem.i want to use my self as an example as a business man, even in this inflation period we all no this have gone high.but when my customers come to buy my product initially dey complain cause have added price on the goods.but the way I communicate with them politely making them see clear reasons they end up buying the product forgetting there complains.so we should learn more about communication it make things easier in the society.
Being a part of society already means that communication is present. There is no entity that can exist without the concept of communication or the relationships that comes with it.
An entity that cuts off of communication and the forms of, has cut off from  both information supply and other vital supplies.
Social media, newspapers, blogs and so on are all communication channels, and our lives have been intrinsically incorporated into those that to cut off from those is to cut off from life.
Bad communication skills is definitely also bad relationship.
And imagine having a bad relationship with everyone around you.
That sucks.
523  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Does power really corrupt? on: March 06, 2024, 01:41:42 PM
Power is said to be the ability to control the action of other people around you.when can change the decision of other people using force or negotiations you are are said to powerful.some types of power include,

Physical power (the rock)
Political power (Joe Biden)
Economic power ( Alinko Dangote)
Expert power (Lionel Messi)
Referent power(Nelson Mandela)
Coercive power(Saddam Hussein) etc

Political power is said to be the ability to control people in a country without problem.but too much political power bring about dictators.

There is a popular saying that power corrupt, but absolute power corrupt absolutely.
To an extent yes, because if the level of power is moderate there is still room for humility.
When we've clearly defined power here, you'll understand that the more the power, the harder it is to retain humility, this is because the said person realizes that he can get away with a lot of things and can influence the flow of certain things in great ways , then it is harder to resist the urge to bend things according to your desires.
And at a point where you're doing the extreme, and bending things and using your power to intimidate,  oppress or any of those,  that is you being corrupt.
So yes, power is corrupting, and absolute power is absolute corruption.
524  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What is the benefit of taking hard drugs on: March 06, 2024, 01:30:58 PM
I was going through some articles and comments on twitter and this question struck me so I decided to bring it up here .
There are some drugs that are quite medicinal and has serious effects on human beings especially when misused or abused . But the idea of people taking high level of hard drugs is what I can’t place my thought on because it makes feel that everything is not normal on them .

However, people go to grave yards to exhume the bones of dead bodies just to collect their bones grind it and smoke it , some will also go to the length of breaking sucker pit just to inhale the substances there for a reason I don’t know . So please I now ask again, is there any benefit of taking hard drugs ?
When you say benefit of taking hard drugs,
Know this, those taking it don't even care about the medical uses, but they are mostly hooked on them. They may pose that they use it to go away from their depression, but the thing is that it's only for a while. And then your problems are back at you, with time that you lost instead of trying to fix it.
Hard drugs ultimately are destructive in nature, since they're addictive, and we know how the addicts end up.
So in the bigger picture, I see no 'benefit'
525  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / The sooner you find an alternative the better on: March 02, 2024, 10:04:22 PM
For most of us wey dey use crypto almost every day and get some of our value stored inside, we know say binance na our most preferred and probably the only online exchange wey most of us dey use use for the country, federal government don tie their hands, dem don even charge them untop am, this matter fit long pass like this and binance fit no gree pay any fine wey federal government go give them so easily, them go want do stubborn head so some negotiations go dey, so instead of you to dey wait till dem ban binance for the country start to find alternatives.

I for say make una go for other exchange like kucoin but we never know if fg eye go reach all the exchange or if na only binance for now.
I come hear say we get some p2p vendors for Nigeria here wey get good rates wey fit trade our coins give us cash for our country here but the only problem na say scam people plenty inside and to find legit one go hard unless by recommendation.

I read through one thread and I see say our boss cryptobrainboss dey run am too, so if things cast na to petronize am be that.
526  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Forex Crisis: CBN revokes operational licenses of 4,173 BDCs on: March 02, 2024, 09:50:17 PM
CBN are just looking ways to strengthen naira. This is a link to the news:

https://dailypost.ng/2024/03/01/forex-crisis-cbn-revokes-operational-licenses-of-4173-bdcs/

Although, CBN said the affected institutions failed to observe regulatory provisions.

The regulatory provisions:

These, according to the bank, include payment of all necessary fees, including licence renewal, within the stipulated period in line with Guidelines, rendition of returns in line with the Guidelines, and compliance with guidelines, directives and circulars of the CBN, particularly Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) and Counter-Proliferation Financing (CPF) regulations

There has been new development everyday but the CBN can only try. The price of naira has increased. Let us see if the price of cement and other goods will also be reduced.

But the problem is that as the primary reason for the devaluation of naira has not been solved as Nigeria depend more on foreign goods and services than they are exporting, will naira continue to increase in value? It depreciated to almost $1400 yesterday or day before yesterday in the parallel market but now at over $1500 again.

I feel the main reason the federal government doesn't want to address the main issue is cause some of them are benefiting from it and are owners of cargos and goods that are imported into the country, no one wants to block his channel of feeding at the expense of another.

Now they are looking from means to extort taxes from foreign companies that have users In the country and if they do binance would retaliate in a way buy increasing their charges or putting some new rules on us too. I don't see how any of these forex or crypto business is weaking or naira, so many other top countries are using it and they still have a good currency, all I know is that they are up to no good.
527  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Don't allow politicians to use you on: March 02, 2024, 09:42:11 PM
It's not a recent discovery for us that our government doesn't have any good plan for us, they didn't give jobs to students, people would just go to school and waste their lives and come out no job and then they see cryptocurrency as a way out and now them still want to block the road for us giving an excuse that binance is responsible for the naira inflation how? Like just how?, I don't really want to judge sha on this matter on till everything has been resolved let's know who is at fault, at least I'm not stranded we still have kucoin for now maybe untill they ban all of them, but I hear binance was not in compliance with some of their laws and a big transaction about 29 billion was moved through binance in a day from unknown person's which I highly doubt but lets wait and see who is right or wrong.
528  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Marriage right wan de increase pass price of goods o! on: March 02, 2024, 09:34:24 PM

529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Newbie Crypto Advice on: March 02, 2024, 07:34:35 PM
Glad I invested when I did thank you guys for the help.

I'm strongly suspicious about you OP cause in all your post on this forum you have been looking for someone to chat you up on your email even tho I assume that you should try to be security alert that some scammers could reply you and your reply here just would so ridiculous, a while ago you were looking for tips and now your saying that your happy you invested when you did and that was when before or after making this thread, I guess whatever purpose you aimed for been here did not work so a quick exit was your best choice, you didn't even say something reasonable to all the advice except I agree.
530  Economy / Speculation / Re: The market smells of bitcoin halving. 54 day left! on: March 02, 2024, 07:27:05 PM
The market smells to me more like people speculating about the halving rather than the halving actually having anything to do with bitcoin's rise whatsoever.  I mean is there any reason why the price should skyrocket before or after each one?  That's one thing I've never understood.

I just checked the 7-day chart for bitcoin and just the last two days alone make me a little afraid of what's coming.  You guys remember the last couple of raging bull markets?  They were great while they lasted, but price increases similar to what OP showed in that chart never last for long.  I'm going to bet that whoever's speculating, i.e., buying bitcoin, in anticipation of any gains from the halving are going to sell once they've made a profit--and then we'll see a massive dip

But what the hell do I know?  I never thought bitcoin would make it to $1k, let alone where it is now.  If only I had a time machine.

Making speculations is all most can do and no one knows what to expect soon and bitcoin might never reach 100k now or might well exceed.

But I can't seem to understand why many person's are speculating a new ATH after the halving like it's such a certainty, bitcoin has really shocked a lot of person's that were speculating 60k after the halving but here it is now and the bear could even come in now we don't know. No one knows what started the bull and know one would know when it would end besides all other bull market looked like this, the halving shouldn't make this one any special
531  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: March 02, 2024, 06:49:22 PM
Well, my fitness is awful. I hardly did 30 (10x3) push-ups. Hopefully, by the time BTC hits $100k, I will be doing a lot better than this.

That's the goal!  Stick with it and you'll see improvement quickly.

Today I'll be hitting 3,000 push ups since I started doing this challenge and besides a few aches and pains here and there I feel pretty great.  I can feel a difference already and it's only been a month.  I'm very glad I saw this challenge and decided to join in.  I can only imagine how great it will feel to actually keep this up until $100K.  I'll admit I have my doubts, but I'm putting in the work to try and make it happen.

Sticking with the goal is the only way to reap the fruit of the workout, many people are already making progress and becoming better at it since the beginning just like me, I started on a very poor form and lacked motivation, I even had to join my friends to do the work out but now I am on a better form an the idea has well gotten into my head, and more over bitcoin is doing really well so I derive my motivation from there and I think with time I would get the hang of it. I'm still hanging around 60- 70 push ups presently, I guess Im consolidation within those range who knows maybe my bones are building just like bitcoin.
532  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: March 02, 2024, 06:40:54 PM
Let's take a longer term example.  Let's say that someone came into bitcoin in 2014 and spent a couple of years accumulating bitcoin, so maybe he accumulated around 50 BTC at around $500 each. So his total investment is $25k.  So when the BTC price shot up to $2,000, he could not resist, and he sold all of his BTC, and so he ended up selling them for $100k, and so he has around $75k in profits... that is pretty good, right?  He is still not doing as good as the longer term investor who still has the 50 BTC, and maybe the longer term investor has more BTC and his average cost per BTC is more than $500 per BTC.. we can imagine a lot of scenarios, and bitcoin has tended to be a good investment to hold onto for the long term, even if you might get enough BTC and you might want to shave off some profits along the way, you can still consider your investment as something that you mostly hold onto rather than converting into dollars and then ending up with dollars or some other inferior investment or maybe consumption good that you would be better off to have more BTC at a later price, even if your cost per BTC might end up being much higher.

I have seen many people who earn bitcoins and manage all their life expenses with it. I agree with you that investment in Bitcoin needs to be long-term. Because it is not possible to extract full profit from Bitcoin if not in long term. According to me, some part can be spent for special needs and the rest is better to invest.
short term investors also have profit in Thier investment
IMO short term investors are making no real profit from bitcoin cause they still sell their holdings after some increase in value and to me that is because they don't understand the potential of bitcoin for the long term hold.
The reason why long term holders makes more profit over short term investors is cause they allow the compounding value effect to happen on their bitcoin and bitcoin is a scarce asset that would continue to increase in value over time even if not at a faster rate.

If you look at what is currently happening the demand of bitcoin is high to the point that exchanges don't have enough liquidity to handle the demand of it, and you know what happens when an item is scare and high on demand, it's value would increase and this is not something that happens for a short period of time, you know that as people continue to buy and hold bitcoin the supply would continue to decrease making it to gain more value, so if anyone really understands the value of bitcoin as an asset he would be thinking in terms of accumulating more than taking profits off his holdings on a short term.

I am not saying making or taking profits off your holdings is bad but this should be after a period of accumulating at least enough bitcoin which is different for everyone but should be at a minimum of 4 years of accumulation. The only way to truly be prepared for up is to have more bitcoin.

And speaking of who has been more profitable, some person's that bought bitcoin right around when it was still at 30$ and sold when it hit a 100$ would have made profits from it yes, but imagine what those that kept their holdings up until now and see how many x and compounding value effect that has happened on their portfolio, so even historically long term holders have benefited from bitcoin more than short term holders.

533  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Does power really corrupt? on: March 01, 2024, 07:56:24 AM
It's a human thing, people draw closer to their bad nature when they feel they are above other person's, like what is actually stopping you from crushing your fellow if you have the power to.

Let say you are a king and I am a citizen of your country and I invented a technology that I was supposed to make myself ever young and you heard of it as the king would you not use your power to crush me to get what you want.

Power doesn't corrupt but it bring out the bad nature in man, every man is corrupt on his own and just waiting for a trigger, how many times have you used your little power to uppres others around you in little ways, the cjlhoice came from you not the power or anything, you are the corrupt one and not the power.
534  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin price speculation (BTC/NGN) on: March 01, 2024, 07:48:36 AM
I'm usually more active on topics like this but you would find more on speculation sub board in the economy board, having a topic like this on our board is interesting, nice one @Charles-Tim.

I'm speculating that bitcoin would reach a new ATH of 150k this year, I was speculating a 100k but we are well close to 100k and we are still a month and some days far from the halving, we should be entering a new ATH before this month runs out and get to about 84k this month, the demand on bitcoin would well rise after the halving, but I think it's already bon a very high demand right now as it should be, we have enough fuel to hit 100k this year and soon, but I'll still have my bets on 150k
535  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria board sprint on: March 01, 2024, 07:37:04 AM
Nigerians are well active on the forum, we are much interested in seeking knowledge about bitcoin, bitcoin and crypto currency has become a well good alternative for our local dieing currency, so I think lost of them are here to get the lastest update on crypto to stay afloat.

Im quite the poster since recent days, I guess this whole issue of federal government and binance is keeping me very curious and I can't wait to see what really sparked the whole issue up on federal government side, I just hope they won't end up living about it or maybe as a scheme to make youths suffer.
536  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Another alternative on: March 01, 2024, 07:30:02 AM
The recent developments that has led to the controversy in binance P2P for Nigerians is very unfortunate because I know that binance is the most preferred exchange by Nigerians but however, when one door closes another opens so @ legendary Charles-tim, do you know any reliable exchange with higher rates that one can use to make p2p transactions?
Kucoin, Bybit, OKX, HTX MEXC and many other exchanges have centralized P2P.

There are decentralized exchanges also for privacy people https://kycnot.me/

I've check some of them out their much verification is not as smart as binance and they are requesting for nin card which I don't have, I did my min few months ago and am still awaiting for them to give me my card, do you use any of them and have any idea on what might work for me right now.

I thought mexc exchange does not have p2p? I have been using it for sometime now, but the P2P option didn't work out well like binance or all other exchanges. The P2P that manage to pop up, does not have an NGN. so I am using kucoin now.

Mexc P2P is frustrating in fact couldn’t find it on this my new upgraded app. Of all the exchanges mentioned above the one that I will greatly advice someone to use amongst them is KuCoin, even before the whole binance and Nigeria government saga KuCoin was the best to me because they answer to support swiftly too and the number of the vendor is displayed there. Another great alternative is Bybit because many Nigerians use this exchange to trade more so it’s P2P is also available but fill with scammers when compared to the likes of KuCoin

I'm checking out kucoin have any idea on their much verification, is it smooth, can I expect to be verified as soon as possible?
537  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: $26bn passed through Binance from... on: March 01, 2024, 07:24:58 AM
This money does not belong to government,  this money belongs to common Nigerians that are looking for a way to survive
I think this shouldn't be a problem to Federal government because it is not government money.  They should be worried about the mismanagement of money in the oil sector,  the CBN.  The government needs to be worried about politicians that are claiming properties that be long to the country, this are the things politicians need to be disturbed of and not about cryptocurrency.  Cryptocurrency have been of good benefit to the youth, if not thst some youths engaged in cryptocurrency how would they have survive now that the country is hard and without job for the people.

I understand that our federal government might be messy but let's be sure about things before we point hands, I know we are on the receiving end as cryto users but you are well aware that some frudster could also be using this app to exchange money, and that amount going moving out of binance in a day is quite a lot if you think of it.

I'll want to know the whole story before I point hands, binance might even be the wrong people in this context, just to be safe, be a self custodian untill the smoke has cleared than we would know what is safe to do and not with our holdings.
538  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Prevention is better than Cure: Binance Removed Naira from the Platform. on: March 01, 2024, 07:20:45 AM
All this must be resolved soon cause I don't see any better alternative to exchanging crypto for fait that would be better than binance, going for private p2p vendors would get you into a lot of trouble cause they can put you in a mess since you can't even identify who is a scammer and who is not.

I think binance is trying to clear their heads and might update their policies soon, everyone one should try to find alternatives for now till we are clear if our federal government wants to eliminate binance for good or not.
539  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Don't relax using the exchange on: March 01, 2024, 07:15:09 AM
With the current news, anyone who keeps his money on exchange is playing with fire, our government just arrested two binance executives showing that they might take even more drastic actions that might be the end of binance in Nigeria, besides is poor security to keep your holding's in binance, unless to sell them off imidiately.

Use alternative exchanges like kucoin, mexc for trading
Then use electrum , blue wallet to hold your crypto

Engage in self custody now more than ever, decentralization is your way out not centralizion.
540  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoiners don't spend all your profits. on: March 01, 2024, 07:06:16 AM
It's an even better advice for us not to sell any of our bitcoin if we are not well ready for a situation where by when we sell the price of bitcoin keeps on getting higher and you can't buy back and you end up regretting, so it's a better advice to sell in portions so just in case you are selling at the wrong time you would still have some bitcoin.

The truth is you can't time the market at all and no one knows what to expect from this new cycle it could be that bitcoin has well left the days of 25k-30k and waiting for such price even in the upcoming bear Market might never happen, it's better you sell a little and take profits than selling all expecting the price to drop, who can tell if bitcoin would chose to remain at 60k and reach new prices of 150k and even when the bear comes 60k now becomes the lowest dip of the new cycle.

So it's better to sell portion than all, so you don't find yourself in a mess.
