521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anonymity VS tracing transactions. on: August 26, 2019, 07:08:17 AM
Optional anonymity is much better solution for Bitcoin, because
if Bitcoin was 100% with private transactions from start I am sure
that Law enforcement would do much more to ban any use of it.

Some second layer solution or wallet with privacy function is good solution looking long term.
Maybe there are few governments that take anonymity as a reason to ban. Bitcoin isn't 100% anonymous, it is pseudo anonymous with possible chances of knowing one's wallet balance if a particular users identity is known. This transparency is good for any network, another thing is the irreversible feature of a transaction. This will make users more responsible, but at the same time the risk is very big.
522  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Overall winning - Dice on: August 26, 2019, 06:37:29 AM
These are the signs of early addiction,it means you are starting to become addicted and this is not a good thing. If you start gambling the money from your day job your life can go south pretty quickly. You should try to quit or at least set a limit and if you can't comply with these you need to get help.
Agreed, my mind too finds the same in me. I'm getting into addiction. Saturday and Sunday I was much into gambling, didn't go anywhere else, just sat infront of PC and continued. For the past two days I didn't logged into our forum on account of the same. This is completely gonna make my life worse, I need to take necessary steps to move on. Thanks for reminding myself getting into addiction.
523  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Overall winning - Dice on: August 26, 2019, 06:03:26 AM
Have anyone profited out of dice in the short or long term. I have been trying the best and lost all, I can't leave it. Once after I loss I have gone beyond my ability. Finally as the wallet got emptied, I bought bitcoin particularly for betting and lost even the amount earned from my day job. I used to experience win, but at the end it is a loss. I miss the right time to stop and leave. Cry Cry Cry

odds are against you , it doesn't really matter if you win or lose
also the question seems really wrong since of course you can win short term , if you deposit 0.01 and wager it on X2 you still have 49.5% chance on winning but even if you won that wouldn't change the fact that you are taking a bad bet

if you really want to win then you need to stop playing fixed house edge games , maybe invest in the house instead or try skills betting like poker and sportsbetting

this has been discussed really a lot , your rank is high enough to realize the truth
I prefer sports betting much than the casinos. In recent days due to some reason I got myself much into dice. Initially it was quite interesting at the beginning and won a little. This kept me into temptation to continue dice, anyhow it is true to spend on poker and other skill based games than luck based games.

525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mining Bitcoin at a nuclear power station in Ukraine on: August 23, 2019, 01:00:30 PM
I found an article about this case on a local news portal, but now I see that there's information about it in English as well. Some people were using a Nuclear power station to mine Bitcoin in Ukraine. It is likely that the guarding personnel was also involved in the process. The investigation is not over yet. A link to read more: https://bitnewsbot.com/atomic-wealth-cryptocurrency-mining-operation-foiled-at-ukrainian-nuclear-plant-report/.
It's nice that people used clean energy to mine Bitcoin, I guess, but also sad that people keep trying to profit by cheating and using the resources that don't belong to them.
I never find nuclear energy to be the clean energy. It is highly radioactive and the same has caused lots and lots of complications in the health of people who are located within specific distance from the nuclear reactor. From my understanding, mining with the illegal energy generated is against law but government need to go for some other energy source for daily life needs as nuclear reactors were highly harmful.
526  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you believe stolen funds should be returned to their owner? on: August 23, 2019, 06:57:00 AM
In a decentralized platform something lost is lost forever. It'll get refunded only if the user who stole the funds need to have the mind to refund it back. In one case that happened in my country, there is a borrowing of certain amount of USD in bitcoin, and while returning back the borrower returned in terms of bitcoin as the market of bitcoin was down. This was taken to the custody of the police and a complaint has been filed. No result on the complaint yet. This way refund is completely an impossible thing.
527  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Creation Cost vs Price: Finding The Real Bottom on: August 23, 2019, 04:08:41 AM
Mining is not worth the hassle. It is cheaper to buy the coins directly. It used to be a good reason to buy a good GPU.
Agreed, it good to buy than mining. The buying needs to be done at the right time, because the price of bitcoin could change in large scale in a very short time period. This could create a big difference between the buying and the creation cost. As a user mentioned above if someone leaves mining the place gets replaced by another miner. No matter what they do, it is their problem to benefit out of mining, because no user gives clear data on the mining cost for a coin. It varies with every miner.
528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Would you participate in new project if it is not listed in ICO rating websites? on: August 22, 2019, 06:44:10 PM
More websites were into usage to give ratings and review the ICO'S and new projects that are getting added to the cryptocurrency network. Same as that of the paid service to list tokens and altcoins to the exchanges now ico rating websites have paid services to rate the projects. This way there are more and more possibilities for low grade projects get good ratings. Better is to analyze and do the investment.
529  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Blockchain Replace Banks? on: August 22, 2019, 05:53:57 PM
The whole point of blockchain to the banks is to improve the services that they deliver to people, but not to completely replace it, and whether we like it or not, there would always be an existence of banks, the only think that may change is the way they operate which blockchain is the key to giving them a better technology, but that would be for banks and countries that are not corrupt.
Yes, it is something beyond the traditional system that is developed to serve the common people in a much better way. Blockchain as a technology has been getting more importance as it is completely transparent which is a must in a banking sector. However this is not gonna replace banks, but banking services are gonna get integrated with the blockchain technology.

When it comes to blockchain, we know how it brings about transparency to the system of banks, and all those their hidden charge will no longer be there, and they will not also be able to steal from their customers. Traditional banking method really needs a great upgrade, and I think that there would be a government that would impose the use of blockchain on them.
Banks are primary financial service providers, but they always try to keep its customers under them. At times the bank authority decides what the customer needs to do. This gets eliminated when blockchain technology is integrated, which means it helps common people have their own banks.
530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin entering colleges and universities| DISCUSSION | on: August 22, 2019, 05:06:22 PM
This year came to see more universities and private institutions starting separate courses for blockchain technology. Particularly this was found much in Philippines. Here is a link on the same news that gives clear information regarding the blockchain technology going mainstream on Philippines universities. http://fintechnews.sg/28519/blockchain/blockchain-education-philippines-courses/
531  Economy / Marketplace / Re: According to CMC, in 2019 crypto cap has tripled, and daily volumes passed $70B. on: August 22, 2019, 02:55:25 PM
The marketcap that increased with time reflected with the increase in the price of bitcoin as well most top altcoins of Coinmarketcap. Just consider the marketcap by the beginning of the year and the price. Further as the marketcap increased we experienced the increase in price. In between even though there were more fake volume issues as stated in the opening post the market didn't get shattered.

From the day of cryptocurrency into usage there were good as well bad news rolling out of the market. This at times gets used as a manipulative source. Now as people doesn't react much it gets to end with small fluctuations and the growth continues.
532  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I don't know how to trust a gambling site nowadays! on: August 22, 2019, 12:54:09 PM
Gambling section gives clear information on the websites through their announcement thread. This way it is quite easy to find the trusted gambling sites among the number of sites available. There is a statement that sites providing large bonus on initial deposit to be a scam, but these informations have got limitations. This need to be checked and confirmed through the announcement thread.

Apart from this winning against the house is really hard, if we win today tomorrow we're gonna loss. There are users who state the increased loss as a reason stating the gambling website untrusted even though we've got the access to check the provably fair functioning.
533  Economy / Economics / Re: HODL! U.S. debt Alarm on: August 21, 2019, 04:41:51 PM
In every country this is common to see the wiping out of debt on the election agenda. American president Trump too have given the same statement, and later they understand about the reality. From my understanding in one term of ruling it is impossible to make every plans executed, at least two term of governance will make the plans implemented.

Importantly when the debt goes beyond limits USA will always have the plans of printing the currency of their own to stop the inflation.
534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: crypto banned? on: August 21, 2019, 03:44:27 PM
Countries that banned the usage of cryptocurrencies have begun to lift the ban. Some countries have the ban, but they've started to give consideration on the usage of the blockchain technology into financial infrastructure developments and on different functional platforms. Cryptocurrency ban completely impossible as it has got the peer to peer access which makes bitcoin unique from the traditional system.
535  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin currency stability on: August 21, 2019, 12:37:13 PM
Bitcoin as a currency doesn't need to be stable. The political war between USA and China isn't gonna impact the stability of the cryptocurrency market as it is a decentralized network. Being stable is part of the cryptocurrency, and this will be completely upon the increasing demand to the adoption happening with time.
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: 2017 vs 2019 on: August 21, 2019, 11:03:27 AM
2017 was a big year for ethereum and majority of the ERC-20 tokens. Further there is no big growth, the market kept crashing. None expected such a huge loss in ethereum value falling low to $100 from a value close to $1500. By those days bitcoin too experienced a great fall in its value. Later when bitcoin started to pump high ethereum was the same without big growth. Hope 2020 will be big for ethereum.
537  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: August 21, 2019, 10:08:36 AM
Steve Smith being ruled out of the third test match is a huge blow for the Australian team but I think it is the right decision as he needs to rest and hopefully be right for the fourth test. Labuschagne will come into the team which is a good replacement for Smith but I think England will win the match and square up the series.

Compared with Australian batting, England team is so strong in this test format and even it is a very tough job for Australia to win the test match. So England has higher chances for winning this complete test series.
However Australia leads the tournament. This match has got increased winning probability for England, but we cannot expect the match to go single sided. Tomorrow we've got two matches were scheduled, one is between India vs West Indies and the other one is Australia vs England. From my view this time India will win against West Indies and the match between Australia vs England seems to end as a draw.
538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: August 20, 2019, 10:03:41 AM
What you guys think of the contribution of cricket from India. Now went through the cricket live and saw more cricket matches scheduled for USA, Canada, and few other countries. Going through the players name found most of the players having the names with Indian origin. Not only this, but Kuwait, UAE and few other countries too have large number of Indian players.

540  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beauty Contest Gambling on: August 20, 2019, 07:02:34 AM
I haven't tried to bet or is there ever one? I'm thinking of making bets in a sports betting site and the category of it is beauty contests? Since you brought this up, maybe you have some experience about it?

If I were to consider betting in a contestant. The categories that I will definitely consider are looks, personality, and popularity.

  • Looks - this would be the first one to be considered, not that you should judge immediately what is "pleasing" to you but we all have a different type of look that we would like to see to someone. Browse all the contestant's photographs and determine.
  • Personality - if I had the time to really look into the contestants, I would check videos or background check on how they act normally, not because there is a camera pointed at them but how genuine they could be. Something like that.
  • Popularity - this is an important category because I know this would determine the people's votes? Or depends on the contest. I'm not really sure but this is an important factor too.
Beauty gambling contests weren't that popular around. Most of the participants of these kind of contests were from the beauty industry particularly the models and other artists. They're the one who know better about valuating the scores of the contestants. It was fun watching the contest, everytime there used to be some incident at the time of revealing the final winners.
