5201  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Have 2.311 PH/S rate, PPS P2POOL or PPLNS on: October 20, 2015, 04:26:06 PM
I really like PPS myself as I can count on a solid number and know what I'm getting.  If you like a little more in return PPLNS is best as a lot do at 0 percent, only thing is some can very a great amount per day.

So a lot really depends on pool.  But my vote is PPS most of time.  Everyonce in a while I do PPLNS, but I like that constant amount.
5202  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Dragon miner running really slow !will pay in btc for teamviever help! on: October 20, 2015, 04:23:00 PM
I Can try take it apart and swap the cables tomorrow and check all connections.

Then i could search for the original image and put on instead.

I would not swap all the cables yet.  I would just make sure snug at this point.

But yes searching for image and trying others is a good  idea.  Make sure to look for 5 blade images if possible (they are hard to find at this point)

Yes, this is 99% firmware problem. I have 2T dragon and leds are lighting without blinking during normal conditions. They are blinking only during booting, so it seems that two blades are working only. I highly recommend you to use firmware with voltage and speed control as I have, you can reach 0.5W/GHs. Each blade should hash at 245GHs at 1000MHz setting. My dragon has 2THs at 1700W resulting in 0.85W/GHs.

so ive been busy with work and rl so havnt really done much to this problem. but tried a bit today and a few new images found on google.

so far it seems that every blade could work when i swap them around the ports on the raspberrypi board.

there are 6 ports and only port 1 and 4 is working.

do you still think its firmware? tried so many now but none of them find more then those 2 ports, so maybe its just broken. didnt really pay much for it, so dosnt matter for me to throw it out if its to much trouble trying to fix it.

We don't have enough info to say it could be anything from bad PSU or other hardware.  To software went wrong and needs re-flashed on firmware.

It would not hurt to use another firmware.  Just make sure to backup that SD card as you don't want to lose it if other's don't work at all.   If you have a 2nd sd card might use it and leave original alone.

I get A new psu tester tomorrow so Will try that and see. And i might have A spare psu i could replace it with if its broken.

Still.. When 2 blades are running and 3 is Down it still runs really slow. Will give A shout tomorrow ive Tried it

I would test it out for sure.  A lot of the dragons were not the greatest PSU and crapped out eventually.

If that does not work for sure look into firmware.  It's hard to say what weird can happen with a messed up firmware. But make sure to back it up before trying anything with it.

Hello everyone,

some news:

1) Just placed an order at asicpuppy for 1 GekkoScience Compac (if everything goes as expected, i'll probably buy more Grin)
Just wondering is there any discount code valid at the moment for this shop? I made a google search but the only one i found
didn't work Huh

2) Regarding the Hub, i think i'll go for this one:
http://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B0000B0DL7?

I hope the plastic won't melt Grin Grin

Cheers,

Jeff.

No there is not a current discount code that I know of currently.  He is not making a ton off of sale already on Compac's.  So with being in stock he's actually pretty dang fair since few have stock selling until bath 2.

On hub it was in a different language I did not translate.  Main thing to look at is power it provides to each port or overall.  You want a good amount of power.
5204  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 20, 2015, 04:10:11 PM
You are able to run twice as much hardware with 240 Volt verses 120 Volt.

The quantity of hardware you can run is based on the circuit's amperage, not voltage.  Always double check that your circuit can supply enough amperage to support the attached devices, Watts = Amps x Volts.

Very true.  I was once an electrician.  I was on my way to certification but never did get certified.  I quit just short of taking my test for my Journeyman's License.

I, by no means, am suggesting to turn a 15 amp (14 AWG) circuit into a 240 Volt 20/30/40 Amp Circuit.  Is that what you took from my statements?  I don't see this implication in my statements.  If your statement was simply to inform them they cannot do what I just stated, then ignore my question wondering if that is what you gathered from my previous post.  I was prepared to assist in letting them know what to do if they wish to hook up their rigs to 240 Volts.  One can have 240 Volts on 20/30/40/50/60 Amp circuits.  One could also have 240 Volt/15 Amp one poll breakers but that depends on the supplied voltage for each bar in the Main Panel.  You and I both KNOW they do not have 240 Volt on one bar in their main panel at their house if they live in the U.S.

I was going to suggest Tandem breakers to make room for 2 poll 240 Volt breakers if they have no room in their Main Panel.  Their Main Panel might be in a garage.  If not, they might have an attic to run the proper wiring.  It depends on the amperage they want or the length of the run, which would determine what gauge wire they would use.  They may want PDU(s).  They may prefer to make whips.  Who knows?

I just don't know their situation.  Hell, they might be in an apartment on the lower floor of a tall building.  There was simply no need for me to go into details if they have no desire to gain access to 240 Volts.  Some are just fearful of doing any electrical work at all.  I've helped several in this thread [With no experience at all] via PM's to get going with 240 Volts for their rigs.

If your wiring is running through walls, you are not to exceed 70% to 80% of the circuits amperage.  If your wiring is outside of walls and laying on a concrete slab with whips, you would be safe to run the circuit up to full amperage with the proper gauge wire.  No where in the electrical code will you see a limit on how much you can run your main panel.  If your main panel is a 200 Amp main panel, that is its limit (200 Amps).  The limitation is placed on each individual circuit inside of walls or small conduit, not the main panel.  Hence, the reason there are limits on how many circuits [Depending on the gauge(s)] can be in a particular diameter pipe and the material the pipe is made of [Rigid, PVC, Galvanized Steel, etc...].  There are just so many variables.

To clarify, there are limits on the panel and the service.  There are definitely limits on how much you can run through your main panel.  In addition, you can not run more through your main panel than your service is rated for.  That will melt your service entrance wires, blow up transformers, etc.  normally there are something like 600 amp disconnects on the pole, but at that point all hell has broken loose and the utility is just trying to save the distribution network at that point.

A houses main should shut down hopefully before anything like 600 amp.  If you take a hit at 600 amp it would be bad to say the least.

It is pretty easy to see amp limit on main.  But if you are not use to electricity don't do it.  If you open up the main breaker box it should have a breaker at top with number of amp's on it.   100 or 200 is pretty common depending.   If you are in a apartment might be less.

If you know nothing if you call a electrician and say you want to put in a 240 and check price.  Likely they will tell you a lot about your setup if you don't already know it, and are not familiar with electricity.

having some issues with an antminer s4

https://i.imgur.com/mm4mS2r.png

https://i.imgur.com/bWiB9Ce.png

so I pretty much figured out that I have a bad IO board by putting in a good working one into this miner from another working miner. I am having trouble locating anything on fixing or replacing this board. Anyone have any insight on this?

did u try bitmain??

Otherwise maybe look for people here on this forum with a broken one to sell..
I have tried bitmain. They went through some simple troubleshooting then told me im basically SOL.

Did it work and just stop?  Or did you get it like that?

Need a little more details to help.  And if it's a board that would be hard to diagnose over the internet.
5206  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The most efficient USB miner (scrypt/SHA) on: October 20, 2015, 04:03:05 PM
If by "sizeable amount" you mean "more than zero" nope, I have not gotten a sizeable amount of anything from anyone since the BM1384 purchase end of June.

40GH would probably take more than 2A of 5V. Probably take 2.5V at that point, since the chip would be drawing 10.5W by itself plus conversion losses and controls. I'd estimate 12W into the stick at 40GH, which my base Compac design will handle.

I could buy an S7 and part it out, but the chips would then cost a little over three times what I paid for my BM1384 stock. End cost for the stick would be more like $30-35 than $25 and it'd take about seven S7 to prototype and run out a full 1000-stick batch. Technically possible but probably stupid.

Sounds like a expensive R/D if you have to use the unit itself.  I keep hoping someone will release a chip and make competition and they will sell you a batch.

I think it might be a while but I think Innosilicon is a likely one to sell chips, unless BW and LKETC take all they can produce.  Would be nice of BM to sell them to you.  You should push you can help them sell R1's if they sell chips to you and make your product supported on it.  Can't imagine anyone not wanting one if for 25 or a tad more you could push 25 to 40 GH of extra hash from R1.

Bitwisdom going the opposite way as I thought it would:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    60,883,825,480
Estimated Next Difficulty:    61,912,186,259 (+1.69%)
Adjust time:    After 1265 Blocks, About 8.5 days
Hashrate(?):    432,228,640 GH/s

Not sure why it's going down.  But price still looks nice at around 268 we might have a really good day.
5208  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 6 Vs Antminer S7, which one you will choose? on: October 20, 2015, 03:52:50 PM
Hi, i've found this links:

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon6
This one talks about the testing of the Avalon 6...

http://build.canaan-creative.com:8080/~mikeqin/avalon6/
This one is from canaan-creative.com, and talk about the upgrade testing of the Avalon 6, so it seem it will arrive soon...  Shocked
Hmmm so does it require a pi2 instead of a regular Pi B or are they just adding support for the Pi2 as well?

They cost almost the same so it might work on both and they go Pi2 as you get more bang for your buck.  But I have a Pi B runnning a set of 3 Avalon 4.1's with no issues.

So I hope they go Pi 2 just as it's maybe 5 dollar difference for like 4x speed.  So makes a lot of sense.
5209  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [CATALOG] Good websites to Invest My Bitcoins? on: October 20, 2015, 12:12:21 PM
If you say NO SCAM sites I think every sites in your list at the end will be SCAM. Cheesy
I think the best investment is buy btt account with higher rank and join sign campaign, low risk and high return. Tongue

Yes. OP must update it's list.

Anyways not all sites listed there are promising scam sites lol. There are still a risk sites that worth to try like those under the casino investment specifically just-dice and moneypot. I invested in both sites bankroll 2 months from now and Im gaining a profit a little but it's ok as long as it gain profit.

In those listed cloudmining, I think Hashnest is the only one there that somehow not a ponzi scheme. It just have longer ROI.

Tell me more about your experience.

And what exactly you want me to update on the list. I got no new info since then.

BTCjam is not scam but people there is the one. So I can't consider that site as "Good Websites". You can take a look here.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=605994.60

The problem is BTCJam does nothing to help go after people who default on a loan.  The give the people who loaned the info of other person... so not super great.

Most likely you would have to do legal action to get paid back if a default.  But there are some bad things you might have loaned to someone in another country, so that would be pricey with lawyer.  Again even if in same country getting it done could cost a lawyer, and that does not guarantee you get it back.

I think BTCJam needs to completely redo defaults for me to ever invest there.
5210  Economy / Services / Re: Antminer s5+ purchase on: October 20, 2015, 12:00:27 PM
Are there any reputable sites where I can still buy an antminer s5+? I am thinkig of starting mining bitcoins and want a large machine to start it with! I am only willing to buy from reputable insured sites such as Amazon or Ebay.

(please do not post WTS posts here about antminer s5+'s)
http://bitcoinbg.eu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3293

This is in Bulgaria and I'm not sure what did they mean by the price "5800лв"

5800 Bulgarian Lev = 2,963 Euro

Even if it is for 3 miners looks a bit high for used s5
yes , I know. It isnt my offer. I ve just posted

I think they are mistakenly put extra zero in the price and it's actually 580 Bulgarian Lev (296 Euro)  for one s5 which looks reasonable.

On the page it is a S5+ not 3 S5's tough.  So I'm not sure fair market value but it is higher then 3 S5's.

I love my S5+ I won't be selling it for a while.

Yes, thanks for correcting me. Those are not 3 S5's but S5+ indeed.

On bitmain's site the price for the new S5+ is 2307 USD now so it is still uncertain why do they want 2,963 Euro for the used one.

If Europe I'm guessing due to vat.  A lot of countries over there have some high import tax/vat.  it can be huge on a 2k+ miner.

But yea prices are so high on vat you can see in thread some complain about Bitmain on S7's putting true value (which should be done obviously).  But you will see a trend of some people trying to get miners sent low value or as parts or such to try to not pay vat.

Some are 20+ percent if you get into some of the crazy countries on vat.   I personally don't understand it but that is how it works with some countries.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1036113.0

i would recommend bit-x only, because thye have no limit, when they will open spot again of course

i'm still waiting for one campaign akin to it, without limit

No more arguements Cheesy It's the best right now. I'm also looking forward for that one similar to bit-x's no limit of posting , hopefully sooner cuz it seems bit-x sig campaign will end anytime soon as it was running already for 11 months  Undecided

I am not that sure it will end. How long has campaign been running means nothing. You need to take a look at how healthy the service, web site advertised is. Simple as that.

Bit-X has just released their new debit cards, got a ton of money in funding over the summer, just removed posting limit, again it's unlimited, and also have accepted many new members into the campaign.

So all of the above means that the campaign will run much longer than you expect.

I feel we should be a little more clear. Even though there is not a limit set by campaign, posts are watched to make sure you have good posts.   If you do post's just to get posts you will be warned, and if keeps happening kicked out most likely.    Some come in and think just do unlimited, but content is really important.

I would agree it is not going anywhere for time being.  I have been part of it for 7 months and forsee being with it longer.   It is a VERY popular campaign though so only so many spots.  It's currently closed unless you bring something special to the table and you an PM macro about that as he makes the decision.
5212  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud mining, can it still pay out? on: October 20, 2015, 11:43:30 AM
If Cloud mining was profitable why would they be selling it instead of using it themselves?

because they do not have enough KW to cover all their new machien, so they sell those that they cannot use, this could be one of the reason, there may be other

they does not sell machien...they sell a part of the value of the machines...

I think you are making assumptions and not up to date on topic.   Look at hashnest some do sell the actual miner.  They sell S5 are in stock right now you mine in hashnest and you own it to.  They are sold out of S7's currently.

I suggest reading up on the subject some.    Cloud mining is not one size fit's all on how sites work.

Is there a way to earn over 1btc per day without hacking?

Hahaha it is not possible to make 1 btc per day that is too much and yaa if you have many accounts of Hero  member and above then you earn 1 btc per day...

one thing you can earn 1 btc per day by selling a goods that is cost of 1 btc Tongue

It is possible but would require a massive amount of initial investment. Your talking almost 6 figure income or so.  Remember bitcoin is money.  Money is not free.

So I would not say it is not possible.  There are some people doing it (and much more).  But they are also risking a lot in investments.

5215  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive BitCrane T-110 Setup [HD] on: October 20, 2015, 11:27:48 AM
Yeah I just read that there was a scam or something with bitcrane on reddit? So guessing it wasn't a success. I would love to get an s3 or s5 but can't get anything in Australia that isn't the same as shipping costs. I currently have a choice between this and a s4 but live in a share house and concerned about noise.

What would you do?

Thanks!

I would avoid this rig that is for sure.  I would check local markets on getting one if shipping is to high.  Or you could ship to a hosting center  in a place cheaper.

Sadly not all places are viable to mine.  What is your electricity cost, and how high is shipping?

Currently electricity is free, shipping to Australia seems to sit around 100-250 at best $80 from China through a direct store.

If you have "free" electricity and can get around 100 even it would be a good deal on some.  I normally suggest older gear for free.  But if your paying a lot you might want to have something a littler newer as paying high shipping on old product does not make sense.

I would look for S5 gear or newer with shipping like that.   You might be able to find someone in a better location to ship in hardware sales. Post in there you want to buy miners list which one and see if anyone offers it closer.   Just make sure to use escrow.

I have to think about it as it would be more work for cryptoglance at 3 labels per member.

Definitely has potential to do something....

It's do-able Smiley

Maybe separate username and stick name with an underscore. Example: cryptoglance_stick1, cryptoglance_stick2, etc

Want to thank cryptoglance at being so supportive!  Truly a great to see the coding there.

If we are thinking of doing contests much I guess we could do 3.  user_stick, user_donation, user_competition.   And the  competition one could be used over and over if we do multiple during the life of this group.

What is the end date of compensation?
Is it shipped date or received date?
Seems like received date would be fair but it is probably shipped date.

I believe it is shipped.  Yes received would have been much nicer.  But they did a low compensation which is part of complaints.

End date is not set in stone as far as shipped on ones that are late.  It could vary by customer.  So no set in stone.  The only thing set in stone is the time frame it should ship.  But as you see some Batch 1's did not make that.

Hi everyone Wink

Thanks a lot for these useful informations. I think i'll go for the GekkoScience Compacs. Looks as if this device is great. Still have to decide where to buy it. It looks as if nobody beats Sidehack prices. That beeing said AsicPuppy shipping costs are lower and the item is in stock (although Sidehack should restock it soon).

Regarding, the powered USB HUB, which models would you suggest? I know that the HUB have to be chosen carefully with the Raspberry, so i prefer asking.

Thanks again Wink

Jeff.

The RPI can be a pain on hubs. This explains the problem's and some that are tried - http://elinux.org/RPi_Powered_USB_Hubs

So basically go 2.0 and look at power.  I good example of power is here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=253749.0  Someone might post a good one.  Mine I just had laying around in my parts.

Not the easiest box to get apart. There is no trick you just have to get a thin blade in the the join of the metal parts & prise it apart.

The case is the heatsink with thermal pads being pressed onto the top of the ASIC and also the copper areea on the rear of the PCB. The main rectifier diodes are also have pads.

Thanks for taking one apart! It's great to see the inside of one I was wondering what it would be like.

Were you able to get it back together after?  And did it work find still after?
