I assume this is only for US citizens , right?
Square is only available in the U.S., so far. They have plans for going global, apparently, but only support the U.S. for now. There are clones globally though. PayPal Here has a dongle that can be used in Canada. I don't know their policy on using your own credit card though. Swiff (Singabpore), mPowa (UK), iZettle (Europe), PayLeven (Asia - Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, and Hong Kong) And there are more in the U.S. even, Intuit, and more.

All also note that the block database (?) in the other never got to 100%, but were stuck around ~61%
Until you have a complete blockchain just ignore any balance that it shows. So are you saying you had a complete blockchain and still had no transactions? That is unlikely. More likely is you are having trouble getting the full blockchain. Just for testing, try using a copy of the blockchain from the daily: - http://eu1.bitcoincharts.com/blockchain

When running a balance on your account it returns negative 5BTC instead of what the recorded balance of 50+bitcoin is.
Would you have any idea on how this came about?
Wow, that's scary This is starting to get very annoying. At least send a response saying you're looking at it... Does anyone know if theres anyone other than Nefario working GLBSE?
He's in #bitcoin-assets IRC channel every so often. ;;seen #bitcoin-assets nefario <gribble> nefario was last seen in #bitcoin-assets 5 hours, 21 minutes, and 26 seconds ago: <nefario> send an email to support@glbse.comE-mail is a horrible method for providing support once your userbase grows above all but trivial levels. Perhaps try pinging nefario on IRC (appears to be on during business hours, GMT)

Russian hacker battles with Apple to keep in-app purchase exploit alive - http://www.bgr.com/2012/07/18/app-store-hack-in-app-purchases-apple-exploit/A mention for bitcoin after PayPal blocked him from accepting payments. The Cupertino-based company also blocked the IP address of the server used by Borodin, convinced the Russian Web host to shut down the service and even worked with PayPal to prevent him from receiving donations.
The hacker has now responded by moving to a new server that is seemingly out of Apple’s reach, and he is now accepting donations through the anonymous service Bitcoin. [Update: I see this has been covered elsewhere as well: Apple fails to block stolen iOS in-app content - http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/07/16/apple_vs_ios_inapp_hack/ ] "PayPal suspended his account for violations of its acceptable use policy, meaning he won't be able to access those funds for 180 days. Borodin is now accepting funds via the BitCoin digital currency."]

If you moved between XP and Windows Vista/Wiindows 7, know that there is a different directory used. - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory#WindowsAlso, always close the client before backing up or restoring the wallet.dat.

The @icbit_se twitter account shows the follow tweet: "If the market won't go back an extra clearing to set new trading range will be done." - https://twitter.com/icbit_se/status/223701765839798272What does "extra clearing" do? i.e., if I hold some BUZ2 at the high end of the range, what happens to them?

Latest update: Charted from this data: - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmcTCtjBoRWUdHVRMHpqWUJValI1RlZiaEtCT1RrQmcThe last update took about 13 days and two hours, versus the 14 days it would have taken if blocks were being solved at the rate of exactly one per ten minutes. Running from the current block and estimating the target of one block every 10 minutes, means there are a little over 141 days to go. That puts the date for block 210,000 to late in the day on December 6th. The wager on Bets of Bitcoin agrees that it will not be after December 9th but it is at less than a 3:1 ratio: - http://betsofbitco.in/item?id=312Mining profitability is really high right now: - http://www.blockchain.info/charts/miners-operating-profit-marginSo I suspect we'll continue to see an increasing difficulty, and if done so gradually as has occurred for these last few, ... the date for block 210,000 arrives even sooner.

- Your modification should allow the user to choose from NON-DENOMINATED bills, or to enter a specific denomination of their choice. This should be implemented by having the bill artwork itself not contain the denomination - rather, the resulting code should superimpose the denomination into the correct spot onto the bill. An example of a way to make this work is to add something into .js that modifies the DOM that was begun by bitaddress.org to include an extra text input field where the denomination can be typed.
Right now a millibit is worth about a penny. On a computer or mobile app, we see numbers in digital form and aren't uncomfortable seeing amounts like 0.1234 BTC. On paper currency though, there are generally only whole numbers. Might it make sense, now that a millibit is worth about a U.S. penny, to start using millibit as the default denomination on these paper notes? I could see handing out as a tip, accidentally, the one printed with "50 BTC" as the amount thinking it was the note printed with "50 mBTC" that I also happened to have in my wallet. If the base unit for these was always millibits, this would be less likey to happen. Or possibly instead always print at least three digits after the decimal separator? e.g., even if it is 50 BTC, the amount printed would still be printed as 50.000 BTC? [Update: Another reason to use whole numbers. In locales where the comma is used as the decimal separator, 12.345 BTC would be printed 12,345 BTC.]

Security I have 20,000.00 BTC I can provide as security. I could also offer GLBSE bonds or the keys to deposit accounts - or a combination of the above. A caveat on the title is also possible but it would be simpler to secure with BTC. Ideally I would like the security placed in an escrow account where I can still earn BTC interest/dividends with it for the duration of the loan.

I can make virtual credit cards on the spot that require no name, and work anywhere. I can exchange your Bitcoin into a VCC (virtual credit card).
1 BTC [$8.20] = $8.00 in VCC money. So exchange rate is fluctuating pretty quickly. You might wish to express your rate relative to the latest exchange rate (e.g., that $8 if the Mt. Gox last was $8.20 is about a 2.5% discount, or value of 97.5% of the bitcoin value.) Does this need to be spent with one merchant, or can I spend part of it with one retailer and the balance at another?

we will release the bitcoin for a party, without the consent of the both parties.
If the buyer gets the goods but never releases the funds, do the funds eventually get donated or assigned in some manner?

what I meant by "losing" money is that the last trade was (say) 8.46 and this bot executes a market order which trades at 8.37. If it put in a limit at 8.45 it would probably get filled pretty quickly since in this bull market the buyers are moving up to meet the sellers book. So it is "losing" the 9c spread for the benefit of making the market look at a casual glance like the sellers are moving down to meet the buyer's book.
Write your own bot to snap those up? Since trading fees are on a percentage basis, it cost almost nothing. The market will fix this .. spreads narrow and all is right in this world once again.
