5305  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 04, 2013, 12:31:52 PM
I prefer BTC over mBTC - as it makes me more excited! The concept of huge bundles of cash is always welcome Smiley

One gigasatoshi is now worth about $12,000.00.   Grin

wow, gigasatoshi ... i´m lovin' it.

5306  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 04, 2013, 12:25:25 PM
Gox just touched 1.2 USD/mBTC...

no it didn't. Also stop with dumb mBTC. We don't say google costs 1mUSD.

EDIT: Now it did.

mbtc ain't dumb. actually it´s the future. no mass adoption without mbtc.

5308  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will the bitcoin reach $1000 one day...? on: December 04, 2013, 11:58:00 AM
I guess now the OP question is flipped, and my answer went from definitely to maybe (it will definitely go up to $1,000, and now it maybe will drop to $1,000)

op should just add an "m" before bitcoin. Wink
5309  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Der Aktuelle Kursverlauf on: December 04, 2013, 11:50:54 AM
Bei der "Council on Foreign Relations" wird Bitcoin als mögliche neue Weltreservewährung als Ersatz für den Dollar erwähnt, wenn auch nicht ganz ernst gemeint:

http://www.cfr.org/global/us-economy-fiscal-policy/p31935

if the btc-1kTM party is a success, we may keep going  Wink. las vegas is a cool place to stage this next level.

spinnen die auf bitcoinity?
http://bitcoinity.org/markets/mtgox/EUR

april april im dezember lol

Nett gemacht, wurde ja schon diskutiert, in mBTC zu rechnen um Neueinsteiger nicht so von den großen Zahlen her "abzuschrecken"  Cheesy. Time for 10$/mBTC  Wink

grosses lob an bitcoinity.

5313  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 04, 2013, 09:08:55 AM
bitcoinity just switched to mBTC by default - awesome!

new era ! i´m exited, indeed awesome
5314  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: announcement: the international "when-bitcoin-reaches 1000,- $ party" on: December 04, 2013, 09:07:02 AM
Lets have one every 100$. Wink
I'm not sure my liver could handle it.

you´re a bitcoiner. just get a new one.
5315  Economy / Speculation / Re: SecondMarket Bitcoin Investment Trust Observer on: December 03, 2013, 11:22:47 PM
They bought about 1000XBT on December 2, 2013

that is almost 30% of daily minting ... not bad for a single investment fund.

Yep, barry is some sort of halving on two legs...

5318  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Which exchange will make history and be the first to switch to mBTC? on: December 03, 2013, 12:19:42 AM
There is no point! You can trade less than a full BTC right now, so who cares? I think it's a stupid idea to change the way we look at Bitcoin for the sake of small holders.

i disagree.
mbtc is vital for the future of bitcoin. for the average guy bitcoin is a very abstract concept to begin with. but we need the average guy if we want mass adoption. it is already hard for a beginner to put "real" money into this abstract currency. but is is completely impossible to get anyone to invest into just a fraction of something this abstract.

i know it is not rational. it´s a psychological barrier. if our average dude comes home to tell his wife he jumped the fence and finally bought ... oh well 0.0034456 of what ever he will feel reluctant. if he could tell he bought a couple of hundred it will be a much easier thing to tell.

in my opinion milli-bitcoin is a question of survival. the community needs to adopt this, so mass adoption can take place.
5319  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A perspective on just how rare it is to own 0.1 BTC: on: December 03, 2013, 12:04:23 AM
I think we need to rename btc with another smaller units
It can be confusing to deal with smaller amount of btc

I completely agree. The code already provides for other kinds of displays. I think that milli (milliB? mil?) should be the default atm. Correspondingly, all of us need to start talking more about "millis" and less about "bitcoins."

The problem, IMO, that human beings are not perfectly rational, and that buying "only 0.01" btc has a negative psychological connotation for newcomers.

The same person might not feel bad buying 10, or 1000, milibs or microbs instead.

It's the same reason (in reverse) why stocks split and consolidate, etc.

+1

bitcoin is a very abstract concept for beginners. putting in "real" money into something abstract is hard all by itself. putting in "real" money to purchase JUST A FRACTION of something abstract is asking way too much for the usual guy.

mbtc is a matter of life or death for bitcoin. if the bitcoin community does not switch, it will fade away.

millibitcoin is the answer.
