5321  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you stop gamble if your girl friend insists ? on: August 02, 2022, 07:23:46 PM
Many people obey their girl friends more than anyone else.

What if their girl friend insists you to stop gambling  Huh Will you Stop  Tongue

If your gambling habit has gotten so bad that the people around you who love you have begun trying to get you to stop, it's probably something that you should take a look at.  Is your girlfriend overreacting because you had to check gambling scores real quick while out to dinner and she wanted your full attention to complain about her co-workers, or is your girlfriend begging you to help build your lives together but you keep spending every extra dime you have on losing bets and as a result are forcing your girlfriend to live a less fulfilling life?  Probably best to figure that out.
5322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Papa John's store that made the Bitcoin pizzas in 2010 now has a plaque on: August 02, 2022, 07:20:52 PM
That's pretty awesome.  I hadn't heard anything about this before.  Thank you for sharing.  It seems like a pretty awesome thing to be able to claim.  If I owned that store, I'd be trying to make sure that everyone knew it was the home of the first Bitcoin purchase.  Papa John's should be running specials and they should be accepting BTC at the store as well as having an ATM machine and custom branding to reflect it.  Why not go all out?  While the plaque is nice, I feel like Papa John's is missing out on an opportunity to use this historical happening to their advertising advantage.  I bet some Bitcoiners would travel pretty far to see this store if it were done up right.
5323  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] My Casascius Collection on: August 02, 2022, 07:13:30 PM
~ BUMP ~

I'm still accepting outrageously overpriced offers from collectors.  The only coin from the OP that is no longer available for sale is the 0.5 brass Casascius coin, which was recently sold with no issues.  Would like to move the brass ones first before moving on to the pièce de résistance.  Feel free to reach out to me via PM with any offers, but be aware that 1) I won't ship anything until I've received payment & 2) I've been holding onto most of these coins for around a decade and am in no rush to sell them so please no lowball offers.  With BTC having fallen so much recently, this seems like a good time to be overpaying in BTC for these collector's items.  Smiley
5324  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: August 02, 2022, 07:06:01 PM
Note: there's one more added than removed because one user was blacklisted from DT1 in the past month.

What on earth did that user do to get blacklisted?  Vod laughed at theymos' threat to blacklist him and went on doing exactly what theymos threatened him for doing, while lying, abusing the trust network, attempting to extort me, reporting me to government agencies with false information, as well as harassing my friends and family outside of this forum and trying to get others here to do the same.  Now he's not even able to post here anymore, yet he's still in the default trust network.  So I'm curious what this blacklisted person did.  What, did they post here that Bitcoin was created to be a p2p payment network or something?
5325  Other / Meta / Re: NFT subforum? on: August 02, 2022, 06:58:10 PM
Is it really needed? as @Charles-Tim said it is also a crypto so this belong on altcoin section. And Its not ideal to add sub section because its famous right now since for sure the same on other category which became famous NFT fame will fade out, then the section will be dead if no people will talk about NFT anymore so its useless section to be added.

Let's be honest here — that might definitely be the case, but let's not describe it as if merely adding a subforum will take like a hundred development hours to do. Assuming Theymos doesn't literally manually code everything, adding(and removing) a subforum will literally only take less than 5 minutes to do.

Yes, anyone who's ever worked with an SMF forum can tell you that it literally takes 2 minutes to add a subforum.  That's if you've never done it before and read through all the information while you're doing it.

Every time someone posts this thread (which is a lot) it always boils down to 2 things.  1) Bitcoin is for hodling and things like NFTs offend Bitcoin only users because it shows that people actually want to use crypto, and that offends maximalists.  2) We already have a subform for altcoin tokens, which is literally what NFTs are.  Don't think we don't have an NFT section just because it's called the Tokens (Altcoins) subforum.  What you're really asking is for theymos to rename this section to Non-Fungible Tokens (Altcoins), which is unnecessary given that we don't need a specific section for fungible tokens.

TL;DR - We already have an NFT section.

5326  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 02, 2022, 06:52:14 PM
If they retain the team in the next 3 years, the Miami Heat will have a higher chance of winning the championship again. Of course if they keep the whole team healthy.
Bam will for sure keep improving along with Tyler Herro. Duncan Robinson needs to be consistent offensively and the rest of the team needs to be healthy.
One thing I would like to see from the Heat is when they try to acquire a legit big man.
They needed Bam and the others to improve. Jimmy Butler needs all the help that he can get to lessen the load he is carrying. Healthwise, they are quite a young team so they can stay healthy. Hopefully they won't get major injuries this season. I would like to see Butler get a ring as well.

I think they're going to have a hard time retaining their team for several years given the amount of stars they've brought in.  The problem is that all their stars are second tier stars.  I don't think they have a shot at winning a title with that roster.  Maybe if they all get healthy next year and have career years, but how long do you honestly think someone like Kyle Lowry is going to be able to compete in the playoffs?  This is why they'll probably be a top 3 seed in the east, but I'd be surprised if they make it out of the first round.  They have too much depth and not enough MVP power.
5327  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is about to have its biggest monthly gain since October 2021. on: August 02, 2022, 08:04:20 AM
It is good news that the market has seen such strong action since the recent lows. I think we still have a few months of accumulation before the tides turn and the price starts it’s ascent for the next run. Support has been surprising though. The market to me feels pretty strong as we approach mtgox distribution time.
5328  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Empire of Lies and its chief liar on: July 31, 2022, 07:29:45 PM
When I clicked on this thread I was expecting something completely different.  I thought for sure this had to be about the white house saying we are not in recession in spite of every economist in the world without Trump Derangement Syndrome agreeing that the definition of a recession is 2 consecutive quarters with negative GDP growth.  I digress though.  I guess the common theme is that you cannot trust governments to be honest nowadays.  Everyone has their own agenda and is willing to say or do whatever to accomplish it in the realm of politics.
5329  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 31, 2022, 06:28:11 PM
Rest In Peace to Bill Russell. One of the best champions to ever grace the NBA court. This news will no doubt be heartbreaking to the NBA family and I’m sure the Celtics and the NBA as a whole will be dedicating this upcoming season to the legend. There will be one hell of a tribute to Bill. He was the definition of winning and a team player during his time in the league with the Celtics. A legend for sure.
5330  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul v Hasim Rahman Jr / Amanda Serrano V Brenda Carabaja co-main event Aug on: July 31, 2022, 12:37:01 AM
Jake Paul fight is no more. Hasim Rahman Jr has failed to lose weight and show he would make 200lbs next week. Jake Paul agreed to fight him at 205lbs but Rahman’s team said he would only fight at 215lbs now. So the fight is officially cancelled. Jake Paul is tweeting about it so you have to wonder now who is next… A second cancelled fight is pretty bad for Jake’s career. He’s got to set his sights on McGregor or Tyson now to keep his name in the news.
5331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Please note that miner prices are about to rise on: July 30, 2022, 07:38:06 PM
The price of mining machines is about to rise. Now the prices of machines are very low. Is it a good time to buy?

This isn't exactly true when you're pricing items in crypto, which I assume a majority of miners do.  Not to mention Nvidia's 4xxx line is right around the corner and current mining profitability has USD prices the lowest they've been in years.

I guess to answer your question it depends on what you're spending.  If you're spending BTC that you've held since the peak, it might not be the wisest idea.  However, if you're spending fiat that you've got burning a hole in your pocket, it's probably not a bad idea to start grabbing a GPU here or there if you live somewhere that you don't have to pay to keep them cool.
5332  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Women in Web3 : The positive evolution on: July 30, 2022, 07:35:31 PM
At the risk of appearing a total asshole, I don't see a whole lot of female presence in web3 outside of marketing.  A quick twitter search will show you that a majority of the profiles of women in web3 are using their sexuality to market a product.  This isn't exactly the positive evolution I'd like to see in web3 regarding women.  I'm sure the best of them go unnoticed developing behind the scenes, but the popular women in crypto always seem to be gorgeous and in expensive clothes visiting fancy places or on MSNBC talking about their love for crypto.  While maybe this will encourage young girls to get into crypto and become programmers, I think there's still a long way to go for equality.
5333  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin bull run 'getting interesting' as BTC price hits 6-week high on: July 30, 2022, 07:30:24 PM
I don't know if I'd say it's getting interesting, but the moment we've all been waiting for is quickly approaching.  Once the mtgox coins are distributed and we see which direction the market chooses to go, that's when things will maybe become exciting.  It does feel like the market has turned a corner though from the recent major liquidations and is in recovery mode.  For me, I'm still curious about what will happen next month and it will most definitely be interesting once those mtgox coins hit the market.  Hopefully from there it's excitement on the way to euphoria in another 2.5 years.
5334  Other / Politics & Society / Re: USA Bans the right to abortion on: July 30, 2022, 07:27:36 PM
If Mommy really wanted an abortion, and especially if she was a big pusher for abortions in general, maybe it's good that her kids get aborted. After all, if her kids come into this world alive, who will train them? Mother (and maybe father), of course. So, they will get trained to abort their offspring when they get old enough to have some.

So, it works out well, even though it is unfair to the aborted kids. At least those aborted kids won't grow up to become abortionists/murderers... because they don't exist, having been aborted. That's one way to limit abortions.

But the pro-lifers will let their children live. And they will teach them that abortion is wrong. And if they do a good enough job of it, their kids won't have abortions, but will teach their kids against abortion, as well.

So, gradually, the abortionists will murder abortion out of existence.

Cool

That is an interesting take.  I'm not sure how true it will become, but I like seeing interesting predictions about the future.  If I could also add a variable you may have not taken into account.  A lot of unwanted pregnancies that don't get aborted end up with the babies being sent to foster care to be adopted.  They might have difficult lives and think that they would have been better off having been aborted.  Maybe that leads them to become pro-abortion.

Anyway, I guess my point is that there are so many variables here, it can't be broken down so simply.
5335  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 1 BTC Silver Casascius on: July 30, 2022, 07:23:10 PM
Any pictures available?  We all love seeing these coins when possible so this seems like a great opportunity to add some images to the...memory bank.  The all-silver version of this coin is one of my favorites that Mike made.  Congrats on keeping it safe for so long and good luck with your sale.  I'll be checking back to catch a glimpse of this beauty.  Mine are all locked away so pictures are the only chance I have to appreciate these beauties.
5336  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are so many Derivative Exchanges are filling for Bankcruptcy ? on: July 30, 2022, 07:19:20 PM
The simple explanation is that they gambled with other people's money and lost.  It's so easy for operations to massively profit when the price is rising, but things get more complicated once that gravy train stops.  It's like musical chairs and these are the exchanges that couldn't find a seat.  That's why the test of time is so important to Bitcoin projects.  If you're thinking about depositing money somewhere or investing in something, make sure it's survived a downcycle.  Anything in crypto that's been operating for less than 4 years should be considered a test.  Without seeing how it performs in the downturns, you really can't have an idea of how healthy a crypto organization is.
5337  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: At-Home miner from Moon Labs - for Solo Miners and Bitcoin enthusiasts on: July 30, 2022, 07:16:21 PM
this sounds cool! I like the emphasis on home solo mining.

What ASIC chip are you using? The website says the v2 uses 5nm process, which is pretty fancy! The efficiency (0.0375 J/GH) seems about right when you count cooling, controller and power supply.
For v1 I managed to purchase the 14nm chips from Bitfury, but for v2 I'll be able to provide details about the chip on the launch date (in ~1 month).

The efficiency isn't the best, but it is not so important for a tiny device like this.

I was also curious about the chip used given that 5nm process ain't cheap.  Always nice to see more competition out there in the mining space.  If you need somebody to provide you with a review, let me know.  Smiley  Love me some home miners.  What voltage do you see these things running at?  Assuming 110v to easily integrate with typical home electricity circuits.  Right now it seems the only competition for a device like this is the Apollo miner, and this one appears to be more efficient.  Any details about how loud this will be or a ballpark on pricing for each unit?  Will it have a standalone power supply or an included one?
5338  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Looking for 4 S17's to buy on: July 30, 2022, 07:12:07 PM
Can anyone recommend a place where I can buy new and or used S17's in stock at a decent price?

I've got one in pretty rough shape that I've been considering selling.  It's an S17Pro but one of the cards is a bit finicky.  I find it needs to be restarted every so often to function.  Probably not what you're looking for, but maybe you're more into troubleshooting these things than I am.  Let me know if you're interested at all.  I'm not really motivated to find a buyer and have no problem letting it run as is, but figure I might as well offer in case we were able to make a deal.  Good luck with your search.  I'm sure there are plenty of miners out there for sale somewhere.
5339  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: July 30, 2022, 07:09:04 PM
And it's not true that Nate Diaz won't have another opportunity if he doesn't accept the match up with Chimaev.  The UFC is obligated to offer three fights per year, or how many fights left in his contract, to each fighter or else the UFC pays the fighter for a missed obligation.  What Nate Diaz is actually missing out on is the trilogy vs Conor McGregor.  He should have waited instead of signing up for Chimaev.
No more waiting for him, I am sure that Diaz wont get any more chances because he begged Dana White and UFC for a long time to give him any fight.
Dana is slowly getting rid o older fighters and both Diaz brothers always had bad communication with Dana, until they smoke couple of joints  Grin
It's not bad to smoke marijuana compared to Dana White who is taking cocaine for some time.

Nate Diaz doesn't care who he fights.  He just wants out of his contract.  Dana is sticking it to him with this matchup, but I don't think Nate cares.  He wants to go out in a blaze of glory and then beat down Jake Paul in the boxing ring.  I wonder if this is going to start being the norm for the UFC...  When someone wants out of their contract Dana will just set them up to get destroyed by his best fighters...  Seems a bit harsh, but I believe that's what we're seeing here.  I think Diaz is going to have his hands full with this one, but in the UFC anything can happen.  I hope the best for him.
5340  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - 🦉 Drake, UFC, Watford Main Partner ⚽ 🥊 on: July 30, 2022, 06:53:39 PM
My rank on Stake is Platinum I and recently I received $25 from their Birthday Bonus.

I'm also curious what the bonus is if you've a different VIP account or $25 is the standard.

I never pay attention to the bonuses, probably because I don't gamble enough to get into any VIP club but people sure do talk about the bonuses a lot in this thread.  It seems like a strange thing to target bonuses when gambling, but I imagine it's pretty profitable for those who reach high levels.  Everyone likes free money right?

I didn't know they did birthday giveaways also.  It seems like they look for excuses to give away money to their users.  A nice thing to be a part of.
