541  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 21e6, LLC - Secretive ASIC manufacturer that raised $5 million on: November 26, 2013, 03:50:41 PM
i am still betting someone, somewhere will release in 20 or 16nm during 2014 !

Not unless you have enough money to build their own fabrication plant  Tongue

Any new node will be booked solid for years by the likes of IBM, Intel, AMD, nVidia, Samsung etc. for their own products.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_semiconductor_fabrication_plants

Still think that, Gator?

It's already a fact

542  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] IceDrill.ASIC IPO (500 Thash Mining Operation powered by HashFast) on: November 26, 2013, 01:58:47 PM
With the current delay and difficulty increase do you think shareholders will ever get back the .0016 BTC as per the IPO?

yes, if and only if you're patient enough

will?  is that you?  Roll Eyes

Grin Hardly ... Just yet another small shareholder... Although I am tempting to retract my previous statement after reading Hashfast thread.. Situation over there is just getting worse and worse by day... Retarded ceo smile and frequent TOS changes is all that was given back to the customers so far ... Meanwhile knc prepares to dump another 3ph in the following month ..

and their 20nm products hah.

Oh if only IceDrill had their funds back right now and could get in line with KnC. It would probably be a 1PH Mine.

2TH for somewhere between (12 x 120v = 1440w) and (12 x 230v = 2760w) is not exactly a huge leap in efficiency.

Slap bang in the middle of that range is 2100w

You can have 2TH with 55nm Bitfury for 2300w  Tongue

They quoted 0.7w/(GH/s) tho they were very conservative last time with their estimates.

They didn't beat the 55nm Bitfury with the 28nm. Eventually this game will come down to power efficiency.
I don't believe they are using real ASICs but instead FPGA HardCopy ASICs

I believe you would be 100% incorrect then.

If you wanted to undervolt the KnC system it could easily use less power than bitfury and probably have more hashrate per silicon used.

Regardless of the above speculation, KnC uses Standard Cell and not FPGA Hardcopy. This has been said and said and said and apparently still isn't clear enough.

2TH for somewhere between (12 x 120v = 1440w) and (12 x 230v = 2760w) is not exactly a huge leap in efficiency.

You can have 2TH with 55nm Bitfury for 2300w  Tongue
0.7W x 2000GH/s = 1400W
I believe it will be well under that. probably around the 1000W range

No it will be over 1440w because they said US buyers would be down on power and some cores wouldn't come online.

They "Said"

Quote
Cole believes that residential power supplies in some households won’t be able to handle it on a single fuse. “American houses don’t have the same supply as Sweden or Germany for example,” he said.

Which has nothing to do with "Cores" coming online or using "more power"

Quote
“Maybe a European house can run six chips and a US house less chips,” he said, adding that chips would turn on automatically as more power became available to the box.

Just be patient and professional about the situation and there'll be a lot less stress for everyone involved.

I personally think that the lack of information coming from Ken is not very professional. The shareholders financed this company and yet we are told nothing.

The principal of what you are saying is 100% correct however for whatever reason in the unregulated securities marketplace this seems to be the normal. I'm positive Ken knows what he is doing is lackluster to use choice words and he chooses for it to be this way for some reason or another. We literally have our hands tied as shareholders, you and everyone else knew this is how the marketplace currently was and is and should have expected as such even if in the back of your head you kept hoping/dreaming it would be different.

I'll say what I've always said and that is that we now must enjoy the ride. Nothing we say/do on here will change the direction he chooses to take the company or the information he relays to shareholders.

545  Economy / Securities / Re: Lab Rat Data Processing, LLC (LabRatMining) Official Announcement on: November 26, 2013, 12:17:23 AM
I never 100% confirmed with BFL what "place in line" I hold, but when asked at a bitcoin conference where I am in line by one of my bondholder's they stated I'd be first delivery (other than James Gibson I'm sure  Tongue)

I am going to get in contact with Dave at BFL and set up a meeting with them in the next couple weeks.  I'll be flying out there to check on progress and hope for the best.

Today may seem like a big day (hardware mining "officially" begins) but I'll tell you tomorrow is far more important.  Wish us luck.

Not sure if you have a solution for the backplane (MB) for the monarchs but it looks like ASROCK has come up with one http://www.asrock.com/news/index.asp?cat=News&ID=1765. Mind you - from what I recall you had a few GPU units running before!

I believe monarchs will be via USB as well if I recall correctly so no need for a backplane, just hang them and get a hub! Cheesy

Edit:

Quote
USB 2.0   -  Monarch cards can be used as an external computer peripheral and chained via USB hub.  In this mode the Bitcoin Mining Hardware can be controlled via an Android host or standard Linux or Windows computer.

When I first invested in this company I was aware of the potential to earn divs from mining, but actually it was the profit from hardware sales that I thought was most exciting.

It seems these days that people think otherwise and this is in part to do with the price rise of Bitcoin.

So any thoughts on why this has changed?

Is anyone willing to speculate on mid to long term strategy? If Bitcoin continues to rise will there come a time when concentrating on selling hardware could be more profitable?

Something I'm aware of is the more that Ken has to focus on delivering hardware to customers, the less attention our mining farm gets.  Will we be able to expand at a fast enough pace to prevent one side of the business becoming a detriment to the other?

Companies sell hardware because of the following reasons

Electricity/Cooling/Space requirements of running 1,000's of machines can be somewhat hard to overcome
You can only mine with machines that put you around 40% of the network at any given time due to people getting scared of a 51% attack but you can sell unlimited amounts of machines and make immediate money from that in USD as trying to sell thousands of coins and get them out of exchanges might be a bit tough if you did have 40% of the network.
These machines are prices at $130/Bitcoins
Bitcoins is closer to $800 now and instead of honoring the price point at which you are selling it becomes more profitable to mine unless you plan on raising the Miners price point then it could be more profitable to sell.

The eASIC announcement didn't even come until Sept. 5th. This had to have been close to the time the NRE was paid.

http://www.easic.com/vmc-uses-easic-to-achieve-24-756-ths-bitcoin-miner/

Al right!
Using september 4'th as base and adding 9 weeks gives us: November 6'th (Chip samples delivered).
Adding 12 weeks gives us: November 27'th (Low-volume chip production starting).
Adding 16-18 weeks: December 25'th - January 8'th, with observation to christmas holidays (Normal volume chip production).

Seems plausible,

Also note this is just when the chips arrive (Going to assume packaged and ready for mounting).
Then they have to be delivered to the Assembly House and put on boards. (Again assuming parts are on the PCBs and ready for chips already)
Then they have to be delivered to Ken and setup.

The above process can take 1-2 weeks as well so anyone trying to speculate should add that to their timelines as well after each batch.

This is pretty amazing.
549  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 25, 2013, 03:52:04 PM
20nm in 2014? Not only is that amazing, it's almost hard to believe. It would be beyond most current GPU OEM's specs.

GPUs are not selling for $5000/each
nor are they as simple as SHA-256 engines Tongue

It's already been proven that there's more than enough money our there to cover the NRE and much more on this project. Kind of exciting.

550  Economy / Securities / Re: Lab Rat Data Processing, LLC (LabRatMining) Official Announcement on: November 25, 2013, 03:38:12 PM
Just breezed through the BFL Monarch delivery thread - are we in line for first production deliveries in next 4-6 weeks (my guess with LabRats' history, nothing stated by bfl_josh) ?

That's what it looks like currently but there's no telling with BFL.

They are slated for Mid/Late December Delivery apparently. Just remember Two Weeks™

Ken,

IceDrill has done a very good job at verifying everyone based on Bitfunders Address List

https://icedrillasic.appspot.com/

You log in using your google accounts (easy)

You then sign a message with the BTC Address that has your shares on it in Bitfunder

The website verifies the signed message and looks at bitfunder and claims your shares on the website so everything is 100% automatic and verified. Perfectly ready for Direct Shares and Trading come Dec 2nd Bitfunder shutdown.

I know that most of us tendered shares to you but this is a good model to look at. Kudos to the IceDrill team for the website which is in their control contrary to who they purchased equipment from hah.
552  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Chili – 30+GH/s BFL based Bitcoin Miner Assembly on: November 25, 2013, 01:11:19 AM
My chili is running at 28.5 GH/s at 63C using BFGminer 3.6 with an Evo 212 cooler. I have a high speed duct fan blowing on both bottom and top of my setup.

Fishing for any ideas to help me step my speed up (seems like I'm missing out on at least 5 GH/s).

Thanks in advance people.

I used the Evo 212 Cooler on over 60 Chilis, anytime I found them sitting at 28GH or so it was due to incorrect contact between the heatsink and chips and it wouldn't matter how much air you blew at it it wouldn't help.

You might be able to just fiddle with the heatsink and move it a tad without completely redoing it but sometimes this can cause worse issues.

Usually I would just undo the heatsink, clean up the padding and put a fresh one on and make sure the heatsink had perfect contact this time and it would always put it around 30-32GH.

Hope this helps!

Well done so far!

555  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: November 23, 2013, 09:25:07 PM
sorry typo...  30 @1 would be sweet...  if I can get that   Grin Grin Grin

Here is another product update...  I know some of you "meanies" would say, "don't want to hear it", but for the ones who are seriously thinking about buying the unit might like to know.

After running the unit for almost 48 hours, there were few times, the internet connection was dropped.  What did Bitmain AntMiner do?  It made a lot of clicking noise from the PCB while there was no internet connection, when the internet connection came back, it start mining on it's own.  (So if you lose the internet connection for whatever the reasons, as soon as the internet connection comes back, it will auto mine BTC without any intervention)

So I can go to sleep or go to the movies without worry about miner stop mining.  Later today, I will update this with the Video or the Audio from the clicking noise when I lost the internet connection.

Also, the built-in fan self regulate the speed based on the unit temperature, I think that is why the temperature stays in 40's at all time.

I have a few things to take care of today, so it will be later when I can upload the video or audio or something.

Also, some one donated us 0.1 BTC for the review trip funding!  THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

We are planning to do some VERY POSITIVE BITCOIN things on 12/9 or 12/10 or right around there in one of the BIG CITY in USA.  We may get the media's attention or we may not, but any donation would be appreciated!!!

I will be attending the Vegas Inside Bitcoin conference on the 9th/10th and would very interested in seeing this product Smiley

Aaaargh a troll tried to worry me, panic selling my shares at 0.01 BTC each...

Where are you selling shares?

Are you serious? That was sarcasm....

You sympathize with trolls,

You believe VE,

You have what seems like daily mood swings on if ActM is doing good or bad,

I recommend you take a break as this project has taken it's toll on you, go with VE and get a bearclaw!

Well we have what is essentially a knowledge vacuum and no one actually has any idea what this company is up to. And yeah VE got me, I believed the little shit.

I'm going to try to put this in the least complicated way possible for you and every other shareholder out there.

This investment LITERALLY will do very well or do very bad. It doesn't matter what information we get because if we have an eASIC Chip and it hashes we will do well regardless. If we don't (Highly unlikely) then shareholders lose everything.

Since this is so one sided, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride with us.

A friend of mine talked to someone from eASIC today and I have some information I would like to share with key people in this thread.  Very disturbing actually.. more details tomorrow, not sure how much i want to share publically at this point until we make some necessary phone calls

Does anyone actually believe that someone who acts the way VE does has friends, or even more so friends that have the ability to get past a NDA and get information before news/media?

We're all just feeding his attention which for whatever reason he loves so very much. He makes his posts when he believes Ken isn't around to delete them and let's them fester/troll this thread until Ken does come online. Then he ends up going over to the Troll thread to release more built up angst.

I always thought Canadians were a nice people, take some monopoly money down the street to the nearest doughnut shop and get a bearclaw. You will be much happier!

Ken is the CEO and he calls the shots, but I think it would be beneficial to all if we had a dialogue about how these coins are going to be used.

We know the necessary secrecy around chip development, but here is a very important aspect of the business that can be openly discussed. With all the questions (almost all unfair) around the business choices made during the last few months, I think Ken could use this opportunity to show he is clued-up and has a realistic proposal for the coins which is based on a realistic attitude to the bitcoin market.

Hmm. Dialogue about how the coins should be used.. Buy more of our own equipment to mine with.. Hmm.. yeah think we covered all the basis for that.

I mean seriously what else do you guys want him to do with the coins?

Emphasis added by me

Ken is the CEO and he calls the shots

We are not selling coins unless we have to.

"Lets only sell when we have to"

As what has always been done in BTC Business, you cash out immediately when you receive the BTC OR you cash out when you need the USD after holding it.

Let's just let this dead horse lie, Ken will do as he wants regardless of what we speculate on this thread.

Really does seem as though $1mill should have bought a lot more hash power than 25 Th.

.....As has been said multiple times in the posts today it did infact buy more than that.

Some of that money went into Monarchs.

Some of that money went into initial buildout/costs for hosting I'm sure.
