Release 0.5.10

http://download.nxtcrypto.org/nxt-client-0.5.10.zip

sha256: 9cbe87450f6ed23f8cb881026e44dcee46108101c0de0d40989cbd6215ce233a

Change log:

This is a bugfix release. All users of 0.5.9 and earlier should upgrade.

Fixed a bug in Transparent Forging. The fix will take effect at block
51000. Users who don't upgrade by this block will be left out on a fork.

Fixed a minor bug in peer weight calculation.

Progress report:

The refactoring of 0.6.0 is going well. The Nxt project now consists of
86 java files instead of 1. I will proceed to work on persisting blocks
and transactions in a database some time next week. I do not plan to
release 0.6.0 until absolutely necessary, because it does not contain
any new user visible features and at this point is likely less stable
than the 0.5.x series. Urgent bugfixes and new API's, if needed, will
still be added to 0.5.x. Any Nxt clone projects that have been eagerly
awaiting the 0.6.x series, so that they can benefit from my refactoring
work for free, will have to continue waiting, while we make progress.

Actually I have to thank everyone in this community for doing their part whatever that might be Smiley

what the heck is a lak

It's a PoW-coin, based on Nxt AM. This coin is protected against 51% attacks by Nxt PoS algo.

Btw.

You mentioned that PoS is not going to stay with Nxt forever.

What is coming after the Proof of Stake?

Proof of bandwidth?
And "Proof of processing-power which is actually used to secure the network, not to brute-force some stupid hashes"
This would be kinda elegant.

Actually the Proof of X list is just as great as your imagination. (And probably technical possibilities at this point in time Cheesy)

so in a few days, we'll also be on vircurex.  next week nexern release.  interesting times.

Yeah, I'm sure there will be more big announcement in the coming weeks.  Nxt is still very early stage and a good value in my opinion.  Wait until we take over the SR market, which will be soon.

You could just blacklist everything that comes out of the mixer.

All transactions r supposed to come thru the mixer.

That would be a good catalyst. Smiley

I think the voting should be weighted with "PoS" aka 1 coin = 1 vote
Like NXT

It's not great in itself but it's the best way possible.
Like BCnext say : "a world with money can't be perfect"
But better then this.
545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 20, 2014, 09:20:15 PM
I couldn't care less about these calculations. I care about the idea NXT represents and that would make NXT a success or not.

Either you want to present NXT as a rich guy's club with some kind of superior technology or you want to present NXT as a network/ movement for free people, for decentralization and against all power government.

Sorry for the spoiler. Before u continue this discussion u'd better to know that PoS is required only during bootstrapping phase of Nxt. I can't reveal details now, u have to wait for the 3rd part of the plan.
Oh my gawd  Shocked  Smiley

Either voting will be truly revolutionizing or it will be a serious threat to Nxt.

Would it be a good to reward the coinage regarding to the voting weight?

voting weight = stake * coinage

Sounds right to me.

and coinage should not be weighted that hard. because we DON'T want to discurage someone from changing passwords once in a time, also for spending and trading!

point taken

though perhaps maybe the better lesson to be learned here is to not give voting to much power.

Or we go with account-age in coherence with stake? lol
So many possibilities so hard to figure out..
@
Why in the world are we empowering people with no software experience to make software decisions?
Would give those longer involved with Nxt more power.

What if we just make a simple site, where you can post an issue to vote.

Then people can vote by using the authorization token.

They addresses are checked for age and maybe some balance threshold and added for everyone to see, so it can be transparent.

It won't be perfect, but will be hell of a lot better than forum polls.

Anyone up to it?

i strongly support this. best idea yet.

Seems to be a good idea, indeed.
+1

r u kidding?

No. I supported a lot of currencies that looked innovative. I don't stick to Nxt only. If I see a crypto that has more chances to make the world better I'll jump to that train.

Then please be reasonable and don't waste your time for him. Waste it for NXT!
How can you "waste" time for NXT? Cheesy

Release the code, yes, actively help FC, no.

What about other copycats?

That's why we need a bigger publicity first, then the copycats can come.

Do you need a german translation for a NXT Articel?
PN me.
now we have 9 translators into the german language, I added you to the list:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgAGADgnQcrtdHRrV3V3Z1lzOXVEMWtqdElUaEtqV1E#gid=8
I've added myself as well  Tongue
Just got the "Current Features" finished and asked instacash and ifightformerkel to proofread and suggest improvements.
555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 18, 2014, 06:13:30 PM
I'll just start translating the wiki starting here:
http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/Current_Features --> (http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/Momentane_Features)
English to German

"Aktuelle Features" is better than "Momentane Features", mate
I didn't write that, I don't have access to the wiki (I never wrote a wiki article before, lol).

You can proofread it when I'm finished.
And thanks for your contribution Smiley

The more the Chinese buy NXT now the more they can trade with NXT assets on the distributed exchange when the restrictions on their exchanges come in at the end of the month.

my thoughts exactly

we need a CNY/NXT GATEWAY!...preferably based in Hong Kong

rippleCN and ripplechina are CNY gateways into ripple
ripple also has NXT gateway, so we already have CNY/NXT gateway.
Not a simple click click process, but at least it is possible

It's really amazing how many gateways in general crypto currencies make possible Smiley

Give some to everyone who has contributed to the community?

Basically everyone who is kind of active in the NXT main Thread and those who contribute otherwise.

Just my 2 NXTs  Smiley
