Let "Frictionless" go on with his NXT fanboyism. As pointed out earlier, the amount of energy he puts in is remarkable. No need to give him anything.

Well, I faced a moral dilemma and would like to ask for an advice...

FrictionlessCoin created a thread dedicated to NEX (descendant of NXT). I had a lot of fun reading that thread but I suspect some people took NEX seriously. The problem is that if FC waits till April when Nxt source code becomes completely open, he still won't be able to generate a valid genesis block, coz Nxt uses a crypto algo modified by BCNext (this is why we collected 10 BTC for the audit). I support all cryptocurrencies and would like to help him to create a new genesis block, competition is good for the whole crypto-community. But this could look not very good to guys who own NXTs...

What would u do?

Seeing as he has already told you that he thinks the code is beneath him, I would let him figure it out for himself and put his money (or not-money) where his mouth is.
You have no obligation to help. That means it is totally up to you. You also have no exclusive obligation to Nxt.

On a personal note I would dislike it that my investment went down the drain because of one person's crusade against Nxt, though.

The ironic thing is that by doing this he makes a strong case against releasing the source. He turns the situation around and uses emotional blackmail to get his point across.
I don't mind him creating a fork, that's to be expected. I dó mind him using videos and other material by the community. That shows he is willing to stoop to immoral methods to prove his point.

And the point is just one thing: he thinks Nxt distribution is unfair. Nothing else. He has no aim to build a better coin and system. He just wants it to be "fair", whatever that means in his personal universe.

yeah, cos writing any server software in C++ gives so much joy...

yeah, cos it's all about your joy, right?

Screw users, they can install JRE if they want to use our 1337 coin.

Actually writing server software in C is quite fun. Debugging threading is tricky but with right tools it again is fun.
Users indeed should not instal JVM. But we are getting there, many people are working on clients already.
I got two Qt books today, so as soon there is API in C or C++ I too will start on multiplatform client.

So far no one with Qt knowledge has applied. Anyone?

  • debugging sux a lot
  • I think it'd be hard for developers to add new/experimental features
  • need to compile at least for win, mac, lin - sux again, (raspberry?)

If you think about reimplementing whole server part, well it's doable, but I wish you luck with that (also keep in mind it would be hard to keep up with official server).

What we need and what I believe developers aim for is to split server and client part, than you could have server part running on public node, and lightweight clients (lightweight wallets, call it whatever you like).

(Oh and c++ even for thin client still sux, as you'd ao it much faster in python, c#, java)

let him figure it out himself.

Hehe, it's not easy even for a skilled cryptographer...

I'm all for fair competition, but FC hasn't exactly been playing fair.
If u come on board with NEX, that is going to confuse things a lot and give FC a serious boost, while damaging NXT.
Like it or not, u are seen as a pivotal figure in the development of NXT, and helping NEX will give a sort of "official" NXT clone status to NEX that it doesn't deserve.

FC wants to launch his own NXT-clone, fine, let him launch it on his own.

I don't get the question.

When you're cashing out it may take up to 48 hours. Nxt deposits usually take 1-3 hours.

Concerning 10M. Does anybody have a problem with Cfb keeping funds?

If there's no objections let's keep it this way. What could be easier.

I reference ENIAC and University of Pennsylvania somewhere in the 50's. University of Pennsylvania could be what M.I.T. is today. They are not because they refused to release any intellectual property related to ENIAC. Their greediness lead them to a lot less than if they had grasped the concept of spreading the word. NXT is a technology and it won't be hidden forever. The ones who try to hold technology under pressure are the first to get blown away.

Noone minds I suppose?

Could someone talk about the details how this should work, please? How to securely do this without the risk of someone getting all 3 password pieces?

Beyoncé?

No idea. Some kind of voodoo magic I suppose.

 Shocked

And now the serious answer please.

It is not working for security reason.

Now I have a vote that need your attention https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=423241.0

The poll doesn't make much sense. Committee or no committee we need to decide who is holding funds first. None of poll options answers that.

A treasurer will hold the fund. For now come-from-beyond is our treasurer. He already said he can take the pressure  Roll Eyes We could help to relieve him off duty when we have multi-sign acc in place.

Sorry, missed it. Alright then.

As long as they're spent by April.

Once April comes, they go to the genesis account.

1-3 hours during Dgex working day (Europian time). If you don't receive the money within 12 hours it's better to ask Dgex admin.

I believe giving FrictionlessCoin some Ritalin would be more appropriate.   Undecided

+1

Release the code, yes, actively help FC, no.

This is a good point.  Clones are actually useful for marketing, bug finding, and trying new ideas.  If Nxt can't survive with clones, then it cannot survive anyway.
