541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question About The BTC client on: July 03, 2011, 05:32:01 PM
Good question.  But for me the only true way to verify if someone has successfully sent me bitcoins due is to see the transactions in my wallet.

You can use http://blockexplorer.com to look up your address to verify the bitcoins made it.

No need to thank me; just send payment to the bitcoin address posted in my signature line.

EDIT: dang, error beat me to it!

Can someone explain how to use namecoin?
543  Economy / Economics / Re: MtGox claim site online on: June 21, 2011, 05:54:51 PM
I claimed my account, but if MTGOX expects me to jump through any hoops, I'd request they close and delete my account (I never had a transaction anyway).

I am weary of them having access to ANY of my information (no offense to them, I just don't really want my day-to-day email spammed or worse).

544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Mt. Gox located in the USA or in Japan? on: June 21, 2011, 02:47:24 AM
Is the owner a US Citizen?  Is his website accessible in the USA?

Don't know, ask him, he his around. The previous owner is from New York, so for the previous yes, for the actual no idea.
Yes, it is. Accessible and being served from the USA.

EDIT: Noticing the site is served from Florida, can't we call Horatio Cane and his sunglasses on this?  Grin

Yeeeeeaaaaaaaahhh!

I just managed to get two bitcoins sent to my wallet at mybitcoin last night and I was expecting to check on them this morning. If the site never comes back up am I just SOL on those two coins lost in transaction?

If the site never comes back, then you've lost your coins.

"mybitcoin.com" is effectively the same as giving someone else your wallet.

Not a good idea. I also recommend against using services such as "dropbox" for storing wallets.
546  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Payment fees, don't get it :( on: June 14, 2011, 06:22:06 PM
The reason the client asked for that fee is because the bitcoins were recently generated. If you wait some time, perhaps a day or so, it should be free.

How long must one wait before one can send 0.02 BTC for free?
