How awesome will bitcoin look when this new coin fails for all the reason bitcoin suceeds!
There is no reason why this currency should fail, as it makes total sense for a company to emit its own currency. In fact, when one believes in monetary freedom, private currencies like this are something one should expect and look forward to. By any means, I think it's good that big companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, Amazon and so on emit their own currency with their signatures. This with a free and efficient market exchange between all these currencies would depict the perfect picture of a libertarian notion of money.

Come on guys. It's not so hard to understand. If you propose to donate money but only in a currency they feel skeptical about (for whatever reason), it's easy for them to think it looks like a nigerian scam or a foot-in-the-door technique. They've known about bitcoin for quite some time now. We've tried many times to convince them. So unless you have new arguments, let it go. Were they inclined to accept bitcoin, they would have done so long ago.

This is silly. Stop harassing them guys. I'm pretty sure it's counter-productive.

http://techcrunch.com/2013/02/12/two-hackers-build-a-way-to-pay-for-your-pizza-with-bitcoinsWhile the question remains whether or not you should be eating Domino’s pizza at all, a clever service now allows you to pay for your pie with Bitcoins. The service is far from an official Domino’s app and is instead a gateway or broker between the world of pizza and the world of popular virtual currencies.
The site, PizzaForCoins, asks for your address and then brings up pizza places near you. You place your order and send over your coins – the exchange rate is “APPROXIMATELY $0.50 Cents less then the current Mt.Gox Rate,” their emphasis – and wait for your pizza. Then you eat it.
I've been waiting for this stuff for quite some time. I'm happy someone finally had the means and will to do it. Hopefully they won't just do pizza. There is a whole market for online shopping for plenty of stuff, including groceries. All this could be paid with bitcoins thanks to such a broker service.

and they didn't even mention bitcointalk.org
This forum is not even on the first page of google results for "bitcoin"
Well, it's kind of a good thing, isn't it? I mean, bitcoin is a tool. Here we talk about it. Elsewhere, people use it.

Journalist: Hey Boss, remember that internet money I told you about, that one that could completely change our monetary system? That one you didn't want to make an artikle about? Boss: Barely. Journalist. You now can buy Pizza with it. Boss: Well, if that isn't front page material.
*Example slightly exaggerated
Interesting example, though it is probably indeed exaggerated. I guess journalists don't care much about concepts. They want results, facts.

La liste des pays "francophone" Good luck with that.

This is a survival board. These guys are going to be extremely uncomfortable with the idea that Bitcoin is not tangible.
Nonsense, if they really are survivals, they should be very happy once they discover the concept of brainwallet! It isn't exactly useful to have gold if it get stolen Survivalists gather lots of stuff, store them in a nuclear shelter, and protect it all with heavy weapons. So I don't worry too much about their gold.

First time I ever see the word "bitcoin" used as a verb. Sounds nice.
Next time you want to ask someone if he's bitcoin aware, just ask him:
Do you bitcoin?

I think that would be the best way to go about it. Why not invite the founder of wikipedia to the bitcoin conference, then he can shake hands with important bitcoin people. Win win for everyone.
I think the bitcoin conference should make it a point to give invitations to important people that can help propell bitcoin forward.
Sure. Inviting him could not hurt. But I'm pretty sure he'll decline politely. Come on guys, let's face it. If we want Wikipedia to accept bitcoin donations, it's much more for bitcoin than for Wikipedia. You know it would be a big advertisement for bitcoin. We can't be partial about this.

Can anyone remind me why noone has made a bitcoin-friendly fork of Wikipedia already?

Credit of the two options goes to Hugh Everett III and JS Bell. But their astounding discoveries are ignored by the mainstream popular science.
Everett's interpretation is actually quite popular amongst physicists IIRC. http://arxiv.org/abs/1301.1069See question 12. Copenhagen 42% Information 24% Everett 18%

Amazingly enough, I had never thought of this analogy before!

Fourth, what is a collective after all. A voluntary group that shares resources and risk, much like a cooperative or company if you will. In markets such principles of redistribution exist as well, in the form of insurances for example.
Sure, but in socialism you don't have the right to sell your share or to buy some. In liberalism, you can. Shares are then conveniently called "shares" or "stocks".

A nice quote from Peter Sunde in the Pirate Bay documentary: « They know how to make money before and they don't want to change. They're like the Amish. They don't want electricity. They know how to make do without electricity. » Somehow, I think the comparison is a bit related to bitcoin.

The issue with anarcho-socialism is that anarchism means no rules and socialism is a set of rules.
But the issue with anarchism is that the rule is that there is no rule. It's kind of an oxymoron. Anarcho-socialism only makes it more obvious. Actually anarchy means "no ruler". Anarchists can create and live by any set of rules they desire. Would this include a rule such as "Ok guys, from now on and during four years, we will obey to XXX" ?
