542  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could DeFi support leveraged trading? on: October 14, 2020, 12:05:10 AM
I think it would be terrible if that happened then there would be a lot of price games that might make a lot of people lose and could also make them profit quickly, because YFI's very fast price movements will make the heart vibrate when trading leveraged.

I am not talking about trading leveraged YFI for example, but building DeFi exchange that has build in leveraged trading. Maybe even futures and such...
543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Could DeFi support leveraged trading? on: October 13, 2020, 11:37:11 PM
Yeah, this might be a stupid question but could this work? Or what it would require to work?
I am guessing first problems could be tx times and maybe open blockchain that enables bots to follow your every move and front running.

But there are probably numerous things i haven't thought about because the idea just hit me moment ago and i just wanted to ask from someone in here who understand this subject better.

This just came to my mind after listening to people who were telling me that CEX days are numbered and i was trying to imagine what kind of DEX alternatives there could be in the future.
544  Economy / Economics / Re: The fall of British empire is about happening october on: October 12, 2020, 08:53:55 PM

England knows that if they Don't take cryptocurrency as new currency the next will be economy also im sure they are smart Enought to act Right time.

And what cryptocurrency would that be? And how exactly would that benefit England? Even if they issued one of their own it would need to have instant settlements and build in privacy. And yet issuers would have to know who holds what. This blockchain tech does not exist yet.
545  Economy / Economics / Re: Pandemic: good for the bitcoin market or bad? on: October 12, 2020, 11:42:26 AM
Good day,
forgive a newbie question please. I am new on the bitcoin scene and I am also pretty fresh in economics. I am learning, I suppose that is what I wanted to say. I was an ignorant for a way to long and now I trying to gain knowledge to be a little wiser. I got a bit lost because of the pandemic and I wonder is it good to invest in bitcoin and stock market nowadays or should I wait and see what is the market response going to be. I was pretty sure I got a hang of it but the situation changes so dynamically that it is hard for me to follow.

If bitcoin gets treated as gold in some day, it would be good for it. Right now marketcap is too small for not to be highly volatile and it takes hits with the stock market. I think that this benefits only assets like Gold right now. Otherwise it's bad for the whole economy.
546  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of Defi scams on: October 11, 2020, 10:39:57 PM
Somehow i think that this is going to be very long list because when you look at those amounts that scammers are getting, it will surely attract flocks of scammers to do their own DeFi presales.
547  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ideology & impact on real life on: October 11, 2020, 10:40:56 AM
Except of course for those countries where you have it, but do have to worry about health and education costs, because the money is spread too thin to have effective services.

Maybe give some examples of such countries, and while you do so, just remember that you can find opposition voices at any country claiming that their current government is doing a horrible job. That's quite normal in any democratic system.

I live in Finland, my heathcare is doing just fine, and right now it's strained by the measures we have to take for covid-19, but as in crisis we usually have strong sense of unity and we prioritise.

But even if it wasn't doing fine at (some point there is a waiting queue for example). I could can just pay for private health care services. I rather not but i could. So what was the problem here again?
548  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ideology & impact on real life on: October 10, 2020, 11:04:34 PM
Political conditions in various countries are not perfect..  I personally believe in the "Utopian Socialist" ideology.  I believe that we should live without worrying anymore about health and education costs, which are what the people most need..

we are here just discussing and getting to know each other better about each other's ideology (in your own opinion) -->

You do realize that we who have Social democracy party in power don't worry about health or education costs right now? It doesn't need to be utopian socialist.
549  Economy / Speculation / Re: On Trump COVID Announcement: Bitcoin vs Gold vs The US Stock Market(US500) on: October 09, 2020, 09:38:46 PM
Nope.

Most investors hold cash to have money ready to buy price crashes. It would make zero sense for them to hold bitcoin for this specific reason due to the simple fact that bitcoin has been mirroring the stock market for a while now, as proved by the chart on the main post.

Well that's a good point, i was thinking that they could run out of cash fast while trying not to get margin called, and they could look to sell something that isn't as important to them.
550  Economy / Speculation / Re: On Trump COVID Announcement: Bitcoin vs Gold vs The US Stock Market(US500) on: October 08, 2020, 05:58:52 AM
I am pretty sure the reason why we weren't really affected all that much was the fact that nothing that should be affecting bitcoin ever happened. I understand that trump is sick but why do people think that it should be affecting bitcoin as well? Not like Satoshi is sick? It is not like Vitalik is sick? It is trump and trump has nothing to do with bitcoin at all.

So, why do people think bitcoin should have gone down?
---cut---

One reason might be that some larger whales who own stocks, own quite a bit bitcoin as well for speculative reasons. This amount is nothing compared to their stock portfolio but is a still huge amount of bitcoins. When prices crash in stock market, they need dollars to protect their long positions in securities and sell their bitcoin in order to do so.

This chart is another proof that Bitcoin is not a safe heaven asset.Gold is still the one and only safe heaven asset, while BTC and the US stock market are following the same price patterns.
---cut---

For now.

If gold would be under similar political pressure as bitcoin is, or if there would be any threat that governments could make illegal to hoard it (again), it wouldn't act as a safe heaven either. Gold isn't better, it's just currently on good terms with governments.
554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero's 24h fake volume peaked to ridiculous 84$ billion in september 11th on: October 02, 2020, 07:09:51 PM
You took those screenshots from Coinmarketcap correct?

Correct. And i have taken a look at coingecko now and that Citex too, but i couldn't see that spike on Citex charts making me think it was just a api error.

By reporting the highest volume, they want to lure more XMR traders there and profit from trading/withdrawal fees.

Yeah but 84 billion in 24h would be quite an overkill don't you think?

Anyway, what ever the error was, i am moving completely to coingecko now.
555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Monero's 24h fake volume peaked to ridiculous 84$ billion in september 11th on: October 02, 2020, 01:19:44 PM
Can someone explain what an exchange is trying to achieve with wash trading ridicilous sums like this?
What tactic they are playing out? It's not like anyone is believing that's real.
For example in comparison, Finnish national budget for this year was 57.6 billion euros

Here's a full timeline in comparison on how much more that actually was compared to the rest of time ->

557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The IRS offers reward to anyone able to break Monero and the LN on: September 28, 2020, 05:51:41 PM
... Seems like they're pretty afraid of XMR.

I am not sure if "afraid" is a right word for this. XMR isn't any kind of threat to establishment any more then TOR. They just want to crack open value transactions and possible money laundering to track the criminals. This was actually pretty anticipated move and they will probably rise the price at some point if it doesn't get cracked.
558  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hacker started to eliminate tokens stolen from KuCoin on: September 28, 2020, 05:33:55 PM
It's kinda cool that we can trace all the movements of the funds that were stolen by the hacker.
The question is, can he still be traced when he tries to convert the ETH or USDT into FIAT so he can really use it to live from it the rest of his live.
Kucoin is probably tracking every movement of "their" coins so they have a chance to get the hacker once he wants to cash out.

Doesn't eth have a working mixer yet?
Technically he could sell those for cash in person divided in smaller amounts as well but that would be even more risky as well because many people would see his face.
559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: BOUNTY AND UNFAIR TREATMENT OF HUNTERS on: September 27, 2020, 07:54:47 PM
When you are getting paid with some random project tokens is always a gamble what you get. Either get the projects you want to advertise or accept only projects that pay with coins that have value (like btc/eth).

Or then you have a possibility of writing in here and not wearing signature at all. I feel amazed how bounty hunters seem to think that it's a real steady job with an union benefits. Like they are entitled of more benefits because they've been promised stuff. Investors get scammed left and right and bounty hunters are surprised that their work sometimes aren't worth it?

But if it makes you feel better, those projects that don't treat bounty hunters well don't probably care about their investors either, because paying investors don't want to deal with all the shit talk and fud that unpaid bounty hunters unleash that could affect the value of the token.
560  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Premined bitcoin? on: September 27, 2020, 07:31:45 PM
Seems he doesn't know what is "premine " to start a debate with. Premined coin is only possible if there's no new coins to be mined which means the damn 21m bitcoins are already mined.

That's not true either. Obviously you can have some premined coins and not all of them. Before the ico the boom, premine had a different tone to it and there was an issue to people who didn't know how to read the open sourced code and wasn't aware of the premined coins. There were some altcoin devs who just dumped the hidden premined coins crashing the market at some point.
