Sounds like you have too many potential sources of problems. If I were you, Id start by plugging in a single card, with no extender cable and see what happens. If that magically solves all problems, slowly build form there, by adding the cables and extra cards and see when the problem occurs.
That. Right on, P4.
542  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [90 GH/s PPLNS] BitMinter.com *** Merged Mining! *** on: January 24, 2012, 12:51:42 PM
it's the coin, it just does not want to be mined Tongue
Imma clobber it with me pick-axe until it surrenders and excavates like any well-behaved coin.
93,53% is just terrible... guess we're paying for that incredible New Year's mining spree.
543  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Found some AWSOME cooling mods for 6850/6870's on: January 24, 2012, 12:35:46 PM
Silly question, but isn't the same amount of heat dissipated into the room with this mod? If you have a card cranking away at 150 watts what is the difference if that heat comes out of a radiator a few inches away? How useful is this if you have 20 cards hashing away in a room? I live in the deep south and I am trying to get my heat situation under control before the summer rolls back around.
Naturally, all that heat is still being dissipated into the room.
The difference is, with this mod you are able to dissipate greater amounts of heat much faster, thus keeping the cards at lower temperatures. With lower GPU core temps, you might be able to overclock the cards harder.
If you have 20 cards in a single room you better make sure your house AC is in tip-top condition before summer comes.

The water cooler also allows you to easily run a radiator outside.
Not those tiny ready-made CPU coolers. Those pumps are pathetically weak, just strong enough for a single radiator and two short hoses.
You could successfully build a decent WC-rig and mount the radiator outside but that's an expensive approach to cooling.
544  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 6970's on: January 24, 2012, 12:06:34 PM
using MSI Afterburner;

core voltage slider is preset at Min; can't adjust

what is Shader Clock?  also preset at Min

adjusted Memory Clock down to min of 692 Mhz

Fan Speed right now at 100% b/c my 3 cards are at 89, 100, & 91C with Core Clock at 880!

Cypherdoc, do keep in mind I'm not a psychic. Instead of just saying "at min" do add the numeric value, k?  Grin

Do you think you could compile a table like this?
Code:
card_id core	mem	voltage fan%	temperature
Sapphire6970_1 940 820 1.100 65 78
PowerC6970_1 ...
PowerC6970_2 ...

The only thing I can say for sure is that you successfully dropped the memory clocks and that you desperately need better ventilation or will have to start dropping core clocks.
Over the long haul, those fan speeds and temperatures are not acceptable.

Are those non-reference cards? If they are, there is a possibility that the manufacturers cut corners and equipped them with a non-adjustable VRMs.
Can you post the model numbers of your GPUs? Or links to the manufacturer's site showing the precise model?

Do you think you could post a decent photo of the whole set up?
That would give me an idea as to what those cards actually are and where some additional fans could be McGyvered in for better airflow.

you can use tutorial from youtube to crack wireless, for example with backtrack linux: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LG0Ff3Oser0
I'm sorry, are you suggesting that he should break into some third party's WEP-secured WiFi for anonymity?
Surely, you must be joking, right?
I really hope you're not endorsing lawless acts, this is no crimetalk.org, damn it!
546  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER miner overclock monitor fanspeed RPC in C linux/windows/osx 2.1.2 on: January 23, 2012, 09:05:31 PM
The 6950's are a bit more of a challenge and seem to crash once I start playing with lowering mem clocks.
[EDIT]
After some trial and error (mostly ERROR...read: LOCKUPS...lol)... I was able to get my 6950's running at 900 Mhz GPU & 900Mhz Mem (stock speed being 1250Mhz Mem).
My 4 6950's are non reference (2x Asus DCUII 1GB @ 810/1250 stock...& 2x XfX 1GB 6950's @ 800/1250Mhz stock).

That must be a Windows-based machine, right?
My only Asus 6950 DCII 1GB has been merrily running at 942/820 MHz on my Debian machine since September. I hadn't sold it because of the decent cooling system and passable energy efficiency (140W while mining resulting in 2.70 MHash/W). Even so, I'll most probably ditch it when more of the the new 7xxx cards come out. The 7970 has been a bit underwhelming to say the very least.
547  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a way to anonymously access the internet with prepaid wireless devices? on: January 23, 2012, 05:33:56 PM
...and don't use the same wireless device ever again. The same as the idea of cheap, discardible pre-paid phones some shady individuals tend to use, actually.
548  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a way to anonymously access the internet with prepaid wireless devices? on: January 23, 2012, 01:03:44 PM
Yes, let's help the OP. I'll just repeat what I already said in my first post:
purchasing a pre-paid wireless device is far from sufficient for guaranteeing anonymous internet usage.

Anyone relying solely on that step is bound to be sorely disappointed when push comes to shove.
549  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a way to anonymously access the internet with prepaid wireless devices? on: January 23, 2012, 12:45:50 PM
OP never said anything about doing anything illegal.
My mistake, he's apparently going through all the hassle to send anonymous birthday wishes to his granny Wink

I see a problem with your reasoning though:
Criminals usually do something stupid and get caught.  Nobody smart would post a question like this on the internet which could be data mined from ISP logs if they were planning something illegal.
It's the "nobody smart would do that because it's stupid to post such a question && criminals do stupid things" part that I can't get through.
Help me out, apply logic 101 to what you just said and re-evaluate the OP(1)  Grin

Explanation:
(1) From the two facts:
      1. Criminals do dumb things.
      2. Asking questions concerning anonymity on the public internet prior to doing something illlegal is dumb.
we can deduce that the OP, having just posed such a question, might be one of the... guys doing dumb things.
550  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 3 x 6970 in Windows...Help needed (.5 BTC bounty) on: January 23, 2012, 12:22:29 PM
LOL, what a lovely ghetto solution you've found Conman  Grin

That's a Raven rv03, right?
In my rv02 I jury-rigged a 140mm exhaust fan at the connector side of the GPUs sucking the air from between them cards.
Great, moddable cases those Ravens. Goodness incarnated.
551  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a way to anonymously access the internet with prepaid wireless devices? on: January 23, 2012, 11:57:02 AM
Don't do anything stupid PERIOD

If you use such "anonymity" break the law, it's just a matter of what resources will be allocated to finding you.
That GSM modem of yours has its unique IMEI and serial number. Your carrier is able to estimate your location.
TOR does not protect you against advanced traffic analysis.
Your Windows might just connect to Redmond, do the usual handshake, and request updates while you're "anonymizing" yourself.

Not understanding (or not fully understanding) the technology you're attempting to use is bound to have serious consequences should you try something dumb.

Also, since this is bitcointalk.org and not crimetalk.org i request </thread> EDIT::I may have overreacted here
552  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER miner overclock monitor fanspeed RPC in C linux/windows/osx 2.1.2 on: January 23, 2012, 11:21:02 AM
This joke is getting old but what the hell...
lolwindows: reboot || reinstallation || defenestration

The REAL joke is that the above is actually quite a powerful troubleshooting guide for Redmond-based OS-s.
553  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER miner overclock monitor fanspeed RPC in C linux/windows/osx 2.1.2 on: January 23, 2012, 09:29:33 AM
Sounds like you compiled without ADL support, no?

EDIT:: I just verified that the most recent git version compiles as expected. What Eveofwar posted is NOT a bug in cgminer itself.
554  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 6970's on: January 23, 2012, 09:18:43 AM
I wouldn't even uninstall it. Just don't use it; perhaps remove from autostart if you're satisfied with Afterburner.
It's supposed to detect your hardware automagically, yes.
555  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 6970's on: January 23, 2012, 02:10:32 AM
Cypherdoc, any progress?
Installed MSI Afterburner yet?
556  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Updating Phoenix Miner on LinuxCoin - help on: January 23, 2012, 02:06:05 AM
You sure your script files cd to the right directory before invoking ./phoenix.py ?
something like:
Code:
cd /opt/bcm/phoenix-new && ./phoenix.py
557  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: PPS vs Proportional on: January 22, 2012, 11:24:19 PM
That was quite a lucky day, congrats. Just don't expect the pool to keep this level of luck indefinitely.
On BitMinter homepage, click Statistics -> Blocks to see how many more blocks you have to wait for your payout.
Once a block reaches 2 or 3 confirmations, there is very little chance of it becoming orphaned.
A block is considered fully matured when it reaches 120 confirmations.
558  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Found some AWSOME cooling mods for 6850/6870's on: January 22, 2012, 09:39:42 PM
That's a very good find.
Come summer, this might be the way for me to go. My mining capacity has grown since last summer and even then keeping temperatures in check was a real pain.

I'd like to point out, however, that the VRMs will fry if the Antec mod isn't supported with a decent fan.
Underclocked memory shouldn't pose a problem but the VRMs do require some special care.
559  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Any wisdom on optimizing 6970's? on: January 22, 2012, 09:07:15 PM
I'll just do some math for our uninformed cuz0882:

OP is setting up a 6 GPU rig.
6 * 25W is 150W less of energy and heat. Still think it's not noticeable?

6970 are very hot GPUs. The 69xx family of cards are flawed products, having been meant to be manufactured at 32nm instead of 40.
Mind you, that it's supposed to be a water-cooled machine.
Removing such levels of heat requires a huge and expensive radiator complemented by a full battery of push-pull high-static-pressure fans and a very strong pump. I'm not sure even a 4*120 radiator will do the job with ease.
Since it's not going to be a walk in the park by any stretch of imagination, it is therefore crucial to minimize the heat footprint before the heat is transported away and dissipated.

Friendly suggestion: when posting on subjects you know little about it would be more appropriate for you to end your posts with a ? instead of a .

HP Pavillion laptop? Forget it. Seriously.
Take a glance here to see what hardware is necessary to mine BTC successfully, without killing your machine in the process.
