If you weren't aware, SpendBitcoins now sells bitcoins for MoneyPak:

How did you get to there? I recall a while back, I think Jeremy, said click buy link and it took you to the moneypak section, now it doesn't, where did you click on spendbitcoins.com to get to the link you posted?

I'm shown pull down menu when I hover over the Buy bitcoins (top section of home page).
The second item in the list is "Buy Bitcoins with MoneyPak in USA".

It is something new just from a few weeks ago, I believe.
5442  Economy / Speculation / Re: Trading Balance on: July 08, 2012, 07:24:29 PM
market cap:

9.4mil * $6.7 ~= $63mil

it's just a technical term..

And it is a term that is also a misnomer as it refers to stocks.

I believe notional amount is the more correct term -- a quantity valued at the current spot rate, not the actual amount should that quantity need to be bought or sold on the market.

But the term market cap is probably more familiar and it is close enough to mean the current price X quantity outstanding.
5443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need help to create an anonymous remailing service site (20 BTC+ bounty) on: July 08, 2012, 06:53:29 PM
Assuming your running this business out of America:

Question about this service.  Will you be offering re-mailing for Canadians that want to purchase products from America from companies that only ship to America?  Problem, I find is sometimes I find a good deal online, only to find out the company only ships to America.  Good example is Oakley Vault online store.  Great prices but I can't order as they won't ship to Canada.

Second issue that a Canadian might run into, that you maybe could integrate to your business, is that some companies that only ship to America will also only sell to an American credit card.  You could charge a fee on top of product price up front to order a product for a Canadian, and then charge the re-mailing fee.  Just an idea, but I know I would use your service if you offered both of these services.

There was a service that offered this for a short amount of time, but stopped.  The agent would buy it for you and have it shipped to a U.S. address, transport it to canada (personal purchase) and reship it domestically within Canada.:

I believe the problem was there just wasn't any level of interest (actual shipments).  There were plenty of submissions for agents, but they'ld need to be vetted and probably insured against for losses if failed to ship.
5444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Client Redeam private key? on: July 08, 2012, 05:27:22 PM
is their a Bitcoin that can Client Redeam private key?

Also, Mt. Gox will redeem a key and create a sweep transaction to add that amount to your account balance.  It will then also monitor that address and if any funds arrive at a later point in time, automatically sweep them at that time as well.

This can be done from the website as well as Mt. Gox mobile app (which can be used to scan the QR code).

This allows Bitcoin Checks or BitAddress.org paper wallets to be redeemed by a merchant, for instance.

There were days in the last year where 0trades occurred on MtGox?  I find that hard to believe.

Yes, June 2011 following the hack, the exchange was closed for nearly a week.

Also, note the terms of service from Mt. Gox:

Quote
By opening an account to use the Platform ("Account") Members represent and warrant:
they are at least 18 years of age and have the full capacity to accept these Terms and enter into a transaction resulting on the Platform

[Update: I see CA VirtEx's terms of service include the restriction:

"Your use of the VirtEx site shall serve to confirm that you are both 18 years of age or older and a Canadian citizen.".

As long as you deposit using the cash at a bank method, I don't believe there is any need to go through the account verification step. ]
5449  Economy / Services / Re: New service. Need your feedback. The BitBank! on: July 08, 2012, 03:31:09 PM
Physical Bitcoins in Paper "checks" or metal "coins"
Secure storage for your Physical bitcoins in our fireproof safes, free when you buy a physical BTC

So this physical bitcoin is a product you'll be producing, or will you be acquiring these from existing vendors (e.g., Casascius, and psjb.me checks)?

I just noticed in CA VIrtex's terms of service the restriction:

"Your use of the VirtEx site shall serve to confirm that you are both 18 years of age or older and a Canadian citizen.".

Is that something that is actually verified?  e..g, if a person deposits bitcoins and withdraws Payza (formerly AlertPay), would CA VirtEx ever know if the person is not Canadian?
5451  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wiring money from my bank account to Mt.Gox. on: July 08, 2012, 02:41:11 PM
Unfortunately this service is not available for Canadians Sad Is their possibly a substitute?

Ah, from Canada cash deposit is just as easy.

CA VirtEx offers cash deposit methods through Royal Bank and Bank of Montreal.  Additionally they offer the ability to fund an account using online bill pay from your bank

Another exchange, Canadian Bitcoins, accepts cash in the mail (send via Xpress Post) or if you use TD through Personal Pay:

Wow, quite a few restaurants are accepting btc now Smiley

Where?

There's three in the U.S. (One in Florida and two in NYC) plus GrubGo delivery in St. Louis.  Other than that, where?  [Update: There are more and more though ...   The Pao Cafe in New Hampshire, Whiskey Dicks in Tampa, FL, Cups and Cakes bakery in San Francisco, and Berlin has a cluster of them.   Baby steps.]

5453  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MtGox withdraws are not being confirmed on: July 08, 2012, 06:58:58 AM
But every time i do a withdraw from MtGox the transaction NEVER gets confirmed.

It appears that you chose "Green Address".

Green Address is only something you would choose if you are sending to someone where green addresses are recognized for instant payments.   In that instance, the recipient trusts that Mt. Gox will not double spend and thus credits you immediately, regardless of how many confirmations the transaction got in the blockchain.

So ..., either stop withdrawing as Green Transaction, or talk to the merchant about recognizing green transactions.  (There are few that do though.)  If you are sending to yourself, there is never a need for Green Transactions.

This specific transaction you provided the link for is valid, it just hasn't bee included in a block yet.  It will, though who knows how long -- hours or a day yet.

If fast confirming transactions are necessary, maintain a balance in your own wallet and then pay from there where you can include a fee.
5454  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there a price in Bitcoin image/button? on: July 08, 2012, 06:30:31 AM
There is this:

  (1.0 BTC)

That calculates an amount based the exchange rate times the quantity from the filename. Specifically, btcticker.appspot.com/mtgox/1.23btc2usd.png  would generate an image of 1.23 X [mt gox exchange rate]:
  (1.23 BTC)

So if you had a field in a form and some javascript to update that filename on each change in the value of the field, you could get what you want I think.

- Better credit card processing facilities allow us to securely & efficiently process a broad range of credit & debit cards.

The order form lets me choose USD or EUR.  Do you handle charges in EUR at the same rate?  Or does that USD/EUR selection mean something else?

Same for the Cash in the mail.  And prepaid debit cards by mail.   Do you accept EUR currency and EUR prepaid cards  by mail?

Some other questions.

There are multiple variations of the name.  QuickBitcoins  Quick Bitcoins   Quick BitCoins  Quickbitcoins.net (title), etc.,     Pick one and run with it perhaps?

The list of payment methods includes Moneygram, Western Union and Domestic Money Transfer.   Is the Moneygram and Western Union the only Domestic Money Transfer (thus that entry is redundant) or does that mean there is some additional money transfer method?

To buy bitcoins with a money order, which ones do you take?  All?  or just USPS and/or MoneyGram money orders?

For selling bitcoins to you, where you send a check, which bank is that drawn on?  e.g., if it is Chase, I can visit a Chase and cash it without having an account with them.

For bank wire, is that domestic only, or will you do international money order as well?

One of the requests I've seen is for an exchange to do cash-out to cash-in-the-mail.   Might Quick Bitcoins offer this?

A lot of that going on.

And on other services as well.  Here same thing happened to some GLBSE users:

And another report.  Mt. Gox now has Google Authenticator support, for mobile (Android, iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch (any iOS), BlackBerry).  Use it, love it!

5457  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL Bank Wire Status on: July 08, 2012, 02:28:12 AM
When you pay via your wallet it needs at least 6 confirmations to be claimed valid. This time exceeds 15 minutes, so pay via BTC can actually never occur on time...

Just to clarify, Bit-Pay isn't saying a confirmed (6 block) transaction needs to occur within 15 minutes.  The way that I understand it your payment just needs to be broadcast so that their node sees it within 15 minutes.

I believe the reason they do that (15 minute timer) is to protect themselves if the exchange rate moves against them.  If your transaction arrives after the 15 minutes and the price moves the wrong way against you, then they will hold onto the payment and, I believe, send you an e-mail requesting the additional amount needed to complete payment using the updated exchange rate.

I could see where a connection problem would cause the initial send to not go through, for instance, and then it take a half hour maybe for the client to retransmit the spend transaction.  Blockchain.info keeps track of the timestamp for when it sees the transaction.  Though that doesn't prove that BitPay also saw it at the same time, that will help you to help troubleshoot the problem.

If you didn't get an e-mail or confirmation, contact Bit-Pay to inquire.

5458  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Legality of IPOing securities on GLBSE on: July 08, 2012, 02:02:47 AM
So here's an example of a situation relevant to this conversation:

BTCSYN reports a $12k (1,852 BTC) theft
 - http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=92142.0

BTCSYN is a GLBSE asset, with multiple people (from Canada) listed as being the asset issuer.

So the "CEO" had $12K USD of [the "company"'s] funds on Mt. Gox, didn't have two-factor authentication enabled, and the funds got stolen.

A day or so later, shares were dumped on the exchange and currently GLBSE has halted trades for the asset.

And now, there are pissed off "investors".

If BTCSYN was an LLC or corporation and suffered this loss, it might consider liquidating, and returning whatever is left to the shareholders and that's that  (except, if there were some lawsuit for negligence, but that's a separate concern).

So here, you have multiple people that received money from the IPO.  If there were a "shareholder" suit filed, it would go after those named as the issuers.  I'm not a lawyer and have no idea how such a suit would be decided.  I'm not even asserting that the "shareholders" try to take this through the legal system -- the amounts are too small for an attorney to take this on contingency, and the "shareholders" are likely from many different jurisdictions.

There will be a day where the party (or parties, in this instance) that "issued" an asset on GLBSE finds themselves faced with a court case.
