5581  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] NastyPool 1g .999 Fine Silver Collector's Rounds (2014) - 0.001 BTC on: June 18, 2022, 11:10:41 PM
Glad to see you pushing these. I just purchased one on ebay for far to much, lol. As far as im concerned the thought of a 2013 encyclopedia coin still for sale is ridiculous. With minimal effort i suspect these will fly off the shelf. The ebay price is only crazy because you still have them for sale. Once there gone those prices are right in line with rare original 2013s

Well, I priced them in BTC and I’m looking to sell them all before a price change is needed. I only have a couple of the NastyFans rounds left, but I’ve got a few dozen of the NastyPool rounds that I can sell. If you ask nicely I can even include them in plastic airtites. PM me if you’re interested. I’ve heard of a couple people flipping these things for huge premiums on eBay. Maybe they can act as someone’s saving grace after this BTC price drop.
5582  Economy / Speculation / Re: HOW LOW WILL BITCOIN GO IN THIS CRYPTO WINTER?? (Cast your vote in the poll) on: June 18, 2022, 08:24:18 PM
I think this is the last stop for bitcoin. Dont think it will ever reach a new ath. Problem is everyone is tapped out. And once burned, twice shy.

At first it was the early tech crowd. They had it easy. They bought BTC for 10C, $1, $10, $50 and maybe a $100 at the most. Then there were the people cpu mining it and then gpu mining it, they got BTC almost basically for free.
Then there were the guys that got suckered in buying it at $20k - $60K range. They will never get their money back. Tough luck. They will remind others that it is simply a pump and dump at best, and a ponzi at worst.

I voted $3k, and thats me being generous. I think it might go even lower than that. It was at that level just some 2 years ago.

It’ll go back up man… Wall Street is pumping it. They’re just making sure that it’s the rich who stay rich, which means absolutely destroying anyone who tries to cut the line and play with leverage. That’s all that is happening. Once they’ve bankrupted all the companies using leverage and bought as much BTC as they think they’ll be able to charge management fees for, the next pump will begin. It’s really not a complicated game they’re playing. They play the same game with our economy and stocks, but with Bitcoin it’s every 4 years instead of every 15. I think the true all time high pump won’t be in until the Saudis start cashing out, and it looks like they’ve just started accumulating.
5583  Economy / Economics / Re: MicroStrategy Buys $250M in Bitcoin, Calling the Crypto ‘Superior to Cash’ on: June 18, 2022, 07:03:50 PM
I wonder if Saylor learned anything from Do Kwon's idiot plan to publicly telegraph giant buys of bitcoins.  The big market players literally bought into his buys, letting him pay top dollar, then shorted him into bankruptcy.  Now they seem to be targeting one company after another.  Celsius and 3 Arrows Capital seemingly becoming the latest victims.  It appears that both have been able to raise a little bit of funding to help lower their liquidation number, but the market keeps targeting it, seeking to punish those who trade on leverage.  I'm not sure the big boys will stop until they've cleared the leverage out of the system.  The timing of this happening right before ETH 2.0 and mtgox coins are distributed seems like they're creating a perfect storm again.  Typically you see this happening with bullishness during rallies, so it's a bit frightening to witness on the way down.  I expect this drop will end with a giant volume spike and a massive rebound.  So far we're seeing slow motion drops causing all sorts of pain.  That to me means there's more pain ahead in the short term.
5584  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - 🦉 Drake, UFC, Watford Main Partner ⚽ 🥊 on: June 18, 2022, 06:59:09 PM
I'm seeing Stake sponsoring videos for some of my favorite social media influencers recently.  This has me wondering what other influencers they might be sponsoring that I have no idea about.  I don't see announcements when Stake sponsors Nelk or Stevewilldoit videos.  Is there a place somewhere that we could go to review all the influencers being sponsored by Stake and maybe links to their various channels or videos?  I'd think Stake has to be spending a pretty penny on sponsorships these days, so it seems logical they'd want a way to promote all their sponsored stars.  Does this exist and I'm just unaware?
5585  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Notice that while BTC & ETH fall, Doge is Stable on: June 18, 2022, 06:56:52 PM
Anyone else noticing that while BTC drops $2K and Ethereum below $1K
Doge refuses to budge below 5 cents.

Anyone have an opinion on why Doge is holding it's price when all other cryptos are falling off the cliff.

Elon?

I guess my opinion would be that Doge underperformed from the highs a great deal, so maybe it's already been waiting at the bottom of the cliff for everyone else to catch up...  Bitcoin is down something like 70% (ballpark figure) from the highs, while doge is down more than 90%.  I have a hard time considering that outperforming.  Sounds more like wishful thinking.  Doge has some bright spots though.  If Elon does manage to buy Twitter, I wouldn't doubt it if he adds Dogecoin tipping and tries to really get that currency to take off as a way to show you like tweets somehow.  As far as shitcoins that were created as jokes to scam a little money from meme users, Doge is the best out there.  I wouldn't go expecting it to break $1 anytime soon though.
5586  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: June 18, 2022, 06:18:44 PM
OK, so the 2021-2022 season (this thread really needs a subject update, it's 2 years behind now) is in the books.  My question is, where are people going now to get their fix of basketball?  Are we all just waiting for summer league or the latest trade news?  I was thinking maybe I need to get more involved into international basketball, as I prefer that to college.  Anyone have any tips for me to help point me in the right direction?  Would love to get a year round basketball routine going so I'm not forced to watch baseball or football to get my athletic fix.
5587  Other / Meta / Re: CloudFlare is blocking simple PHP code posting! on: June 18, 2022, 06:15:48 PM
Try to post the following by replacing p_h_p with php.

Code:
<?p_h_p echo "Hello World"; ?>

What makes you think it's cloudflare blocking this?  Wouldn't it make more sense that it's code within the forum infrastructure that is altering the code as it may be possible to exploit it somehow?  That would be my first guess and seems to be the most logical.  Are you seeing something that makes you think cloudflare is altering your posts?  Personally, I don't think that's what cloudflare does, or is capable of doing.  I thought of that service as a router of data and to block malicious attacks, not alter text for users who are trying to use the protected website.  Seems like one of us is missing something here.
5588  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season - Finals on: June 18, 2022, 05:59:22 PM
There's a rumor that Andrew Wiggins might be potential trade due to increasing salary wage of Warriors. They need to trade someone to resolve this and Wiggins has the high chance rate to be trade since Warriors will not gonna let go there Big 3. I don't know if this will commence but I believe this possible since Warriors has really have a high salary cap right now and this is not healthy to there franchise.

They aren't trading Wiggins, if the Warriors are worried about the luxury tax I think winning the championship trumps that.  Over the course of the last coue years the Warriors franchise has to be worth 1Billion+ more than it was 10 years ago.  Why would you break up this team just for cap reasons.  Every team waits to get a squad built like this.  And next year they get Wiseman back.
I have to agree, there is no way Wiggins is on the trading block. He was a key factor in the Warriors winning Game 5. I can see someone like Andre Iguodala being traded or retiring, but I feel like Curry, Wiggins, Poole, Green, and Thompson are coming back.

The luxury tax isn't a big deal when a team brings in 15 million + in revenue at their home games.

It's still a business.  With aging contracts like Green's, the Warriors need to be careful they don't spend themselves into a losing franchise once their big 3 is aged out of the league.  Green already looks like a buyout candidate.  Thankfully Poole and Wiseman have friendly contracts (for now).  Maybe that will help them bridge the gap to building a team for the future.  Their window with this team is closing though.  I think without Wiggins they wouldn't have had a chance this year, and I think Green is going to start getting a lot worse as time goes by.  I think Wiseman is going to have to develop quickly and become a serious part of this team if they want to keep winning while Steph is on top.
5589  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC is coming back on: June 18, 2022, 05:54:43 PM
1BTC is still 1BTC as long as you haven't sold them you still have nothing to lose.

$1 equals $1 as well.  1 pubic hair still equals 1 pubic hair.  Crazy how that works.  I'd give as a rebuttal that the BTC I sold a couple of months ago are worth 3 BTC now.  While it's fun to pretend there's a Bitcoin standard, there just isn't.  It's as speculative investment as a person can make.  I'm pro-Bitcoin, but I hope people realize that the guys who are telling you 1 BTC equals 1 BTC are the ones also taking their companies public and trading their entire Bitcoin existence for massive amounts of dollars, or trying to use those Bitcoin to get people to give them dollars to manage it for them, which they will charge dollars for.  Don't be a fool.  Bitcoin isn't about having nothing to lose, it's about protecting what you do have.  We've gotten way off course.  I hope a drop to $10K acts as a course correction.
5590  Economy / Speculation / Re: Jim Cramer Expects Bitcoin to Dump to $12,000, Its "Pre-Fiasco" Level on: June 18, 2022, 05:46:09 PM
Finally, Cramer shared that he believes Bitcoin is going to go down to $12,000, the level where "it was before this whole fiasco began."

This checks out.  Things don't always have to be extremely complicated.  In fact, I think it was Einstein would said if you can't explain things simply, you do not understand them well enough.  I think this is as true as ever with the Bitcoin price.  Give a 6-year old a crayon and tell them to finish the pattern of the Bitcoin price.  I can assure you that an entire classroom of children would look at a picture showing the long term trend line and draw that price right down to it.  It's not some crazy mathematical prediction model.  It's really as simple as the fact there was a bubble, and now we're returning to the mean.  No amount of politics and drama effects that.  The liquidations and "market swan" events we're seeing is a result of the price returning to the mean, the price returning to the mean isn't a result of the liquidations...  It was going to happen.  All that's left now is to set the narrative.
5591  Economy / Speculation / Re: HOW LOW WILL BITCOIN GO IN THIS CRYPTO WINTER?? (Cast your vote in the poll) on: June 18, 2022, 05:41:40 PM
I don't think it's out of the question for Bitcoin to revisit the long term trend line, which is now just below $10,000.  It was clear after the double top that the pump was over for this cycle.  If I were to pick an absolute peak moment where you should have sold, it was when Samson Mow and Michael Saylor were in the news saying that Bitcoin was going to go up forever.  I knew I should have sold every last satoshi after seeing that interview...  Hindsight...  Just keep an eye on the talking heads.  Blockstream still thinks we're going to see above $100K this year, so I'd wait until they throw in the towel and start casting blame for why we're dragging new cycle lows before selling your possessions for BTC.
5592  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 18, 2022, 07:05:49 AM
So much for the claim the BTC has never fallen below the previous cycle. Just yesterday I feel like Saylor was on tv saying nobody has ever lost money on BTC that’s owned it for more than four years. A shame that is no longer true. I guess it’s a sign of a maturing market, but with all the doom and gloom out there it feels a bit like we’re about to fall off a cliff price wise.
5593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitfinex hack case against Crocodile of Wall Street delayed to August 2nd on: June 17, 2022, 06:36:52 PM
I'm just curious if we'll get to find out more information about the hack.  Seeing some of Razzlekhan's talks about social engineering makes me wonder if this was all done via a computer hack, or if they really got themselves into a physical position to exploit some social engineering hack.  I'm also curious if it was just one of them that pulled everything off, or if they were working as some Bonnie & Clyde team.  I'd love to think there was some crazy story and real life Catwoman style break in accompanying the hack, but I guess it's more likely that one of them were just messing around and found a loophole from their bedroom computer.

No idea what will happen to them, but I'll watch the movie.

Thank you now I understand!

As a newbie, you are eligible to get some merit from me for demonstrating that you have the ability to sign a message.  It's a pretty simple task and if you have a Bitcoin wallet, it shouldn't take you more than a couple of minutes.  I'd recommend taking a look and getting your merit journey started there.  Like a struggling musician who throws some coins in their guitar case to spur donations from others, maybe having a few more merit will get people to more freely send you more.  Smiley

Here's a link to the thread but I don't check it as frequently as I should so have some patience.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5300698.0
5595  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season - Finals on: June 17, 2022, 06:26:03 PM
It was a great year in the NBA.  Lots of frustration and disappointment surrounding superteams like the Lakers and Nets.  Kyrie held his ground on the covid nonsense.  Ben Simmons sat out with hurt feelings.  James Harden and Russell Westbrook showed they are no longer top tier NBA players.  Zion didn't play and blew up like a balloon.  LeBron showed he can still put up huge numbers.  Giannis showed continued improvement.  Embiid nearly carried his team to the Finals with a broken eye socket.

Looking forward to next year and what moves happen in the offseason.  I'm expecting the Lakers to attempt to trade Westbrook, but likely find no suitors.  I think DeRozan and Beal will likely find new teams.  Ayton is as good as gone from Phoenix...  I'm already excited to see some moves being made.  Bring on the 22-23 season!

...and congrats to the Warriors for being the 2021-2022 NBA Champions.
5596  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Bottom is Actually In on: June 17, 2022, 07:43:05 AM
We are certainly closer to the bottom than the top at this point. I’d feel ok recommending people buy again, although I don’t expect any of the people who were excited to buy at $50K to do so now. Human nature and all that. It’s scary with the recession backdrop, but that’s why the price is on sale. I think those that buy now and can hold on for another 2-3 years will likely be well rewarded for their effort.
5597  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA Finals 2022 - Warriors vs Celtics. on: June 17, 2022, 02:22:11 AM
Not a great start for the Warriors, letting the Celtics get a 12-2 lead to start the game. Otto Porter is getting exposed out there on every play. Some NBA players just don’t have what it takes to perform at the highest level and it shows. The Warriors better replace Porter immediately. He’s being hunted on defense, turning the ball over and missing open shots on offense, and the game JUST started. I hope Kerr makes a move during this timeout and doesn’t look back.

Yes, that's what I also said in the previous thread. But after the time out, Warriors got back on it's feet and now have the lead at the end of the first quarter.

I think Klay Thompson is going to push himself in this game 6. And continue his monicker of game 6 Klay. But we will see, Tatum and Celtics, this is a must win for them. They really need to show up in this game otherwise, it will be over for them.

Once they got Porter out of there it turned around quick. The Celtics have shifted their strategy to a more typical defense and while that is hurting Wiggins, the Splash Brothers look like they’re back to normal. If Draymond Green could hit a 3 pointer this team would be as dangerous as the old Warriors teams. The Celtics better bring it in the second half. It’s starting to look like we’re getting our last look at NBA basketball for the year.

5599  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: High odds or low odds, which do you prefer? on: June 16, 2022, 11:34:39 PM
I would always prefer long odds.  Anything can happen, so you can lose with good odds just like you can lose with bad odds.  At least one of them makes the payoff worth it though.  One should always consider the payout and weigh the risk/reward of any gamble.  Personally, if it's about the money I'd rather have a low chance of winning a big stack, rather than a good chance of winning slightly more than my money back.  Otherwise I'd go invest it (not now obviously as we head into a global recession) in the stock market and enjoy the long term gains.
5600  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA Finals 2022 - Warriors vs Celtics. on: June 16, 2022, 11:32:31 PM
As we get closer to gametime, I'm wondering if the Celtics defense will take the same approach that they've been taking...  Completely ignoring Andrew Wiggins in favor of making sure Curry never has an open shot.  I think that strategy hasn't been working and they'll need to adjust.  I think they'd be better off letting Smart play Curry 1 on 1 while their defense focuses on shutting everyone else down.  Maybe a hard foul here and there...  I do hope we see a good game and I hope that there are no injuries.  Boston's gameplan has to involve roughing up the Warriors a little though.  Size and strength haven't played as big a factor these last 2 games and the Celtics can't let Wiggins get 10+ rebounds again.  That's unacceptable.
