561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage - Working Beta - Currency has been released on: August 30, 2015, 06:09:13 PM

It is a red flag there is no block explorer or total amount of supply(CMKC shows 4,627,691,000 SC?)...thats normally a sign of a premine, unless I'm missed the link to the block explorer?

http://explore.siacoin.com

its a bit rough to say the least as explorers go..
No premise i'm aware of though.
562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Sia on: May 09, 2015, 07:48:01 PM
Been hodling my few notes since the first sale on NXT AE....
Glad to see this project getting close to launch..

How much longer do we have to redeem the notes before launch?

Thanks for the countdown - Looking forward to read the whitepaper...
565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] OFFICIAL VOTE for Boolberry (BBR) Renaming/Rebranding! on: September 19, 2014, 12:14:53 AM
I'm still for rings

Well you posted in NXT forum so I thought I'd come over and have a go...
Probably don't understand your history well enough
But if I have it right - this is about cryptography & rings...

you could use ARC or a variation of it

ARC = its part of a RING
Its simple e.g. 'A RING COIN' idk but I'm sure you can fit it...
or Advanced Ring Cryptography/Coin etc
Technology (everyone has heard of the fictional ARC Reactor by now lol)

anyway hope this helps with the debate and good luck...

BTW I like boolberry, its unique and memorable like 'coke', 'google' etc.... although autocorrect keeps turning it into bilberry (which are yummy)

Congratulations on the BTER listings.
Any news on the development roadmap & white paper?
thanks...
567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: QORA ASSET EXCHANGE SOON ! on: September 08, 2014, 03:17:33 PM
Wow this area of town just got a lot cooler than NXT. ASSET TO ASSET  Roll Eyes. This is a huge improvement over current AE's. In NXT we have to Sell An Asset->Get NXT->Buy another Asset. This just takes loads of time and NXT fees. But ASSET->ASSET->HAPPY SEAMLESS TRADING Grin

Its a nice concept that this exchange doesn't bully you into buying a coin to use it, so I can trade anything for anything without having to buy lots of Qora just to trade.
568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: September 08, 2014, 11:35:30 AM
I like asset to asset trading, wish others had it, well done Qora, this is a brave move to do this first.

If I understand it correctly it means people can list their assets and only pay a fee to use the exchange?

So it means I don't have to have enough Qora to trade just enough to pay any TX fees, which is neat, of course as long as someone has listed a trading pair I can use..
569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SUPERNET IPO FAILED investor Drama!!! BTER failed. Consequences??? :( on: September 06, 2014, 06:13:56 PM
Lol! Buy 3BTC of #superNET for 0.0100020, sold immediately for 0.02.. a good day's work!

Thanks James

From reading this thread I assume Bter's stock ran out?

The TOKENS were made available in batches according to the IPO announcement and are STILL BEING MADE AVAILABLE IF ANYONE WANTS THEM

What happened some people after a quick buck bought and then put up a sell order... (this should have been prevented)

Because there is a short time before the NEXT IPO batch is posted, and the previous batch was exhausted these secondary sell offers were the best offer and got matched.
the volume of this activity was small compared to the overall volume invested.

BTER has fixed this by preventing SELLS and this was done within the first 15minutes and BTER/SUPERNET are compensating those who got caught out.

So its fixed but I think SUPERNET have the last laugh on the people misguided to think this 'quick buck' is what SUPERNET is about...

looks good =D

Until the end of the week we will provide a white paper and development roadmap

Hi - any news on the release of the whitepaper and development roadmap?
thanks,

571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Crowdsale has begun[Updates & Discussion] on: September 04, 2014, 09:32:32 PM
Nice to have a date finally... Thankyou..
Good luck to the dev's in getting through this final stage.

One question - can you post here and/or in NXTFORUM clearly when those who have acquired NEMSTAKE will be able to convert after launch and what this process will be...

The last posts on this I have seen were from before NEM was under 'new management'...

Thanks,..
572  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitshares - The Great Satan on the Blockchain on: August 22, 2014, 10:16:05 PM
If you meet everyone just trying to understand with such accusations then your community will not grow.

The problem here is that this thread is attacking BTSX based on massive lack of understanding, claiming BitShares would aim at "mirroring the FED" etc. I've been with NXT since December '13 but this is nothing short of embarrassment. As far as I see there were no accusations or attacks coming from the BitShares community as this was clearly initiated by ChuckOne.
Maybe I see questioning differently - I don't see this as embarrassing and as threads go this one is actually asking questions not just making accusations.

I see this as useful in understanding and I agree the questions could be asked more considerately but these forums are often short on that.

There are not just nxtTers in this thread, although as you point out one started it and in fact the discussion on nxtForum has been more considered.

It is also becoming clear that BTSX is just one implementation from the toolkit so its not BitShares that is being questioned but this specific implementation of pegging to the USD as I understand it.

This kind of discussion brings visibility and with visibility people will do their research not just on these posts but read some of the excellent material at the end of the bitShares links and make up their own mind - so I believe its always best to welcome these debates if you want something to be explored and through that process gain acceptance.

There is plenty of room for more innovative platforms that are not simply carbon copies of BTC and there is no need for either community to attack the other...
573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitshares - The Great Satan on the Blockchain on: August 22, 2014, 09:55:25 PM

sry - you should just take a piece BTSX and watch. if its fails ok, if its works - great. why hate a project you are not involved? maybe you are concerned about your only NXT invest.

I won't 'take a piece' of anything I don't understand...
And why is it that anyone asking questions about BTSX is being accused of protecting their NXT investment..
Many hold NXT but would be foolish to hold only NXT so many hold other investment also...
Many would be foolish to only invest in crypto and so also hold other FIAT based investments and assets.

If you meet everyone just trying to understand with such accusations then your community will not grow.
574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitshares - The Great Satan on the Blockchain on: August 22, 2014, 09:13:10 PM
So is the 2x BTSX that you need to borrow bitUSD based on the USD price of BTSX or the units?

If BTSX is trading at $.50 each, then I need 4 BTSX to borrow 1 bitUSD?

So, the whole bitshares concept could have been done on the NXT blockchain using NXT as the store of value and creating a bitUSD asset. (I assume they didn't cause the devs could create BTSX's for free.)

I wonder too, how close this is to the NXT monetary system. It sounds very similar to me.

There is nothing stopping Nxt from implementing something similar to bitassets. I think that first mover advantage is important though and BitsharesX has them beat there. Look at how far Bitcoin's first mover advantage has got them, I think we can all agree there are many more technically advanced crypto currencies with more features and improvements over it, yet it is still the king of crypto currencies.

I've seen at least one currency pegged asset so far - this one...

USDbitfnx - Each 1 USDbitfnx asset represents 1 USD deposited at bitfinex.com.
I this case an asset is only put into circulation if there is a real dollar supporting it.. The purpose of this asset is not to provide a dollar equivalent but this or something like it issued on NXT or another Crypto with an asset exchange would achieve a traceable crypto token with a with real $$$ backing the token.

Am I right in understanding that with BTS is there is no guarantee that you can redeem 1 BTSX for 1 USD because you do not need to deposit a USD somewhere to create a BTS in the first place?

wow so many names that i recognize from nxt. i had no idea so many of you cool cats were involved over here as well.

Well, Anon136, it was you who brought them here Wink

Yes that is  true because if He hadn't had posted
in the NXT thread about this I would probably miss it.

Yep I too became aware of this because of anons posts in NXT and am patiently waiting for this coin to get started...

hope eXo is feeling better btw
578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is PoS dead? on: June 27, 2014, 09:27:43 AM
Lets stick to some simple truths about economics and technology.

Money has value because it is accepted by people, whether FIAT or digital, whether PoS or PoW, its acceptance that gives value not 'backing'.

Technology also has value when it is simple and transportable so it can evolve quickly and rapidly.

Crypto's which are now driving innovation/specialisation in the silicon industry faster than traditional computing chips have lost sight of the fact that its not ASICS that drive value but the above.

Prices of energy are only going one way and the hunger of PoW when it hits the Environmental headlines will affect it, if consumers don't turn off it there will be legislation to be 'green' like there are for most high energy consuming industries.

Newer crypto's using more flexible technologies like Java and non energy hungry mechanisms are therefore better placed to grow, evolve and gain widespread adoption.

I don't know what the final best placed Po[X] Algorithm will be but it needs to be energy efficient and not need huge computers and the technology needs to be easy and simple so it can spread virally.

PoW is not decentralised any more - you need $$$ and specialised Hardware - this economically takes maintaining consensus out of the hands of the masses which I thought was the original intent.
579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT WHY ALL THE HATE on: June 23, 2014, 11:21:37 PM
I don't know if you are an expert or not, but I have no evidence either way, but I will take you at your word.
My suggestion to end all these arguments "Walk the Talk"
I don't want to see more arguments and technical proofs or seemingly clever soundbites about algorithms.
If NXT is that flawed, write the code for the attack and take it down.
Then these pointless arguments will stop and you will have made your point.

Please be ware though, then the NXT community will fix it one way or another and NXT will come back stronger.
This hateful thread only serves to strengthen NXT and so will any attack.
Maybe we are all deluded, but I like many others like it in here..
And the kind of pollution in this thread has no lasting effect.
580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT WHY ALL THE HATE on: June 23, 2014, 10:41:31 PM

that's right.  I wouldn't dare misrepresent this technology.  I am an expert in cryptofinance and I cannot ignore(or deny) the fact that NXT is a total fraud.

go ahead and bring your army of anonymous extortionists against me.  What does that say about NXT?  There is thread right now on the forums where someone is claiming that Transparent Forging is 'fiction' and he was censored for being 'uncivil'.  In other words, anything that is stated or transpires on that forum is totally and completely unreliable.

-bm

I thought I might come over here and check whether you were quoting about my reply to that post in the nxtforum...

The 'new member' in question did not just ask about transparent forging, they called a member of the forum a 'Retard' in the same post.
https://nxtforum.org/index.php?topic=85.msg52420#msg52420

This is an offensive and undeserved term and this is what I criticised not the question they asked.
As a new forum member with < 10 posts acting like that would draw criticism in any civilised discussion.

So if you are going to make claims about what goes on in NXT I suggest you ensure that the facts are correctly stated and not twisted to suit your own agenda.
