561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] Primecoin High Performance Linux Compilation Guide on: July 22, 2013, 11:18:44 AM
For comparison: 7 cores of an i7 930 get ~2100pps on Debianx64. Core2Duo 2.13GHz gets ~600pps on Win7 x64. Interestingly about the same performance per core although the i7 should be a faster. I set the sievesize of the i7 to 4096000 and the C2D to 2048000, not sure if those are good values, in testnet they seemed pretty fine. i7 got no blocks for over a week while the Core2Duo just found one tonight, so it's still got a lot to do with luck.

edit: Great, now you replaced your question with nvm and my post is pretty much useless.  Tongue

I guess that's why supercomputers are so cheap.  Wink

564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] Primecoin High Performance Linux Compilation Guide on: July 21, 2013, 11:42:40 PM
Note that this will probably lead to a lower mining performance, don't know by how much though.

Or compile on a machine that has enough RAM (like a VM on your Windows PC).

If your server has SSH, you can down-/upload via SFTP.
569  Local / Biete / 2.5 BTC gegen Cash (Berlin) on: July 20, 2013, 02:34:58 PM

Idea: Those whining could put together 1BTC and spread the beta miner to the public.
But i guess those whining the loudest would keep it for themselves.  Roll Eyes

The amount of FUD some people are spreading is amazing. Draw your own  conclusions, don't listen to forum warriors looking to buy cheap/sell high.
573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [YAC] Price WTF Happened?? on: July 16, 2013, 03:38:11 PM
After the last n event same hashrate as before yields more YAC, hence the price fell.

I can't believe people are still buying at 0.0025 when you see this thread. But again, congratz for the people still using cloud power to get blocks...
IMO generation cost doesn't equal realistic price (you have to calculate in manpower and ofcourse demand). Also generation cost is rising quickly.
577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin Release - First Scientific Computing Cryptocurrency on: July 14, 2013, 08:42:05 PM
By small minority i meant tech-savvy people. Most people in the digitalocean thread would have given up frustrated without it i guess.  Grin
But i guess it's good, or an even smaller number of people would hold an even bigger lot of XPM.

579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin Release - First Scientific Computing Cryptocurrency on: July 14, 2013, 08:37:45 PM
414$ made him 600 blocks, at least 9000 XPM. That's mining costs of 0.046$ or ~0.0005BTC per XPM. Guess it's safe to assume this as the lowest price possible for now.
Ofcourse only a small minority are able to do such a mining operation, just throwing this out, looking for your thoughts.

So for 3MB L3 (ivy i3 3225) would you set your value to 1000000? What do you type in the .config file? Should I get rid of my .config file (using windows HP3 build) because I haven't changed any settings since the 2nd day of launch?
Honestly no idea, best way to find out is to connect to the testnet and compare block finding rate, a 5 minute job.  Wink
Note that my test was really short and i didn't test further.
