The tx fees suck because the value is so high

I did 6 btc tx yesterday with electrum using dynamic fees within 2 blocks. They averaged 3$ each.
Is that too damn high?
Have you ever done an international wire?

No word of a lie, just did one Thursday; it arrived at its destination account yesterday and it was no charge.  I was so surprised when the bank teller told me "No charge.  It's free!", but then it worked out to nearly a 5% flogging on the exchange rate differential - they now make their money in other, more subtle ways.

Why is ETH up and BCH down? This market makes zero sense.

Nobody except losers will care about that.

Technically I'm a winner. It just seems odd.

We're going to need to see medals and trophies or it didn't happen.

5643  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: November 08, 2017, 01:48:12 PM
I was wondering is it possible to use ASIC miners to mine custom address or does it only work with CPU?

No.  Address generation requires the use of RIPEMD-160 as well as SHA-256.

I live in a densely populated urban center, but occasionally drive some distances to ... beaches, for example, on wide open highways (where there are lots of traffic cameras, so what's the point unless you don't mind paying the speeding fine.)

Well, if you're doing 50km/h over the posted speed limit where I live, you will be charged with stunt driving (speed limit is 100k on 400 series highways) which means an automatic 1 week suspension of your licence, 6 demerit points, your car gets impounded for a week at your expense and there is a fine of 2 to 10 thousand dollars.  If you manage to get to 15 demerit points, you get your licence suspended for 30 days.

NB. I couldn't afford the insurance and maintenance on a Lamborghini anyway.

You know exactly where I'm coming from.
The local authorities can be.. . difficult.

Oh, is that where you live? G licence? That's a problem as I to, have no influence on the local authorities there. Where I come from (and I'm assuming where you once were, or if not, maybe where your parents or grandparents came from), ... being in any government position has it's fringe benefits. I'm speeding and counter flowing sometimes, and no tickets. Spotless driving record. Most of time I'm "law abiding" and just "being good."

I did get a ticket for a broken tail light, and the guy knew who or what I was; much respect to him for doing his job. I paid the fine and got my license back.

One day, when I'm there, I want to join the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) or TPS (Toronto Police Service), but will most probably prefer to be CF (Canadian Forces), cuz I like the CADPAT uniform look.

That's right, I live in Ontario.  I'm pretty sure things have changed so much in Romania that I wouldn't even try use money or position to get out of a speeding ticket now.  There are angry mobs protesting the government in the streets about their anti-corruption policies so if the law doesn't get you, a lynch mob might!  I do my best to obey the speed limit when I visit - it helps immensely if you rent an older Dacia Logan... at 75 hp, you don't have to worry so much about speeding.

You don't have to join the Canadian Forces to get a uniform; there are plenty of army surplus shops in the area that sell those... though you might not be able to pay with Bitcoin Wink

Well I successfully did that. But had I left my original investment in it would have nearly doubled in fiat value again. C'est la vie.

If it's any consolation, I'm going to be liquidating $2M worth of BTC middle of 2018 and retiring early.

I'm already kicking myself because I know in another 10 years, that $2M i'm going to sell will be incalculably more valuable.

Why buy that much fiat all at once? Why not just buy as much as you need as you go along.

I'd rather be retired with as much Bitcoin as possible growing in cold storage far more than a bunch of crumbling dollars in some bank account.

If you need to buy a new car, or some  real estate, or simply some cash to party with, by all means spend some coins as need be.

Otherwise it makes more sense to just continue holding.

I wouldn't cash in enough Bitcoin to buy a car or real estate even.  Borrow the fiat and pay it on time.  In the 4 years you are paying off the vehicle with fiat or the 25 years of the mortgage, Bitcoin will have appreciated much more than the interest rate of your loan.  In the US you can also write off your mortgage interest against your income.

Alessio Rastani revises Elliot count, now says wave 3, $10,000 "unstoppable"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmDLylVbfFI

Why the hard swallowing?  If you watch at 1:20 right before he says "...from an Elliot wave perspective" and again at 2:32 when he says, "There is support as I mentioned before..." he swallows hard which is an indication of dry throat from a stress reaction.  Does Mr. Rastani believe what he's saying?

Well CEX.io is an option but unless you do the full verification, the fees are a bit high.  With my basic account, $900 in Bitcoin will cost me $1000 right now.

5654  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is there an exchange with low fees and acceptable support (verification failed)? on: November 05, 2017, 01:54:39 PM
Hi,

ive been trying to get verified  with bittrex and gemini. Even though i tried to be serious with verification and provide all required documents, it failed. Wrote a ticket and  ive been waiting for almost 2 weeks and no reply from their support except some automated mail BS not helping at all. Meanwhile bitcoin skyrised. Kraken and poloniex are not available where i live. Are there any other exchanges where i can buy bitcoin and ALT without this horrible support service that doesnt care at all to bother replying? I dont want to trade with coinbase, its too expensive.

thanks a lot for your help

Do you live in the state of New York?
5655  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wall Street Firms - Sinking Ships? on: November 05, 2017, 03:01:24 AM
Earlier we saw Jamie Dimon tweeting Bitcoin as a fraud. And now he has said that  ‘Stupid’ Bitcoin Buyers Will Pay the Price."

And now,Credit Suisse CEO terms "Bitcoin is the very definition of a bubble"

So,they have started to scream on seeing Bitcoin's gigantic progress.

Have Wall street firms turned in to sinking ships?

Have these guys really started to realize that they are travelling in sinking ships due to Bitcoin?

Please share your thoughts.

Wait a minute.  Have we forgotten our history already?
Those fraudulent, criminal con-artists were bailed out back in 2008 - too big to fail.  They aren't floating, they're being buoyed up by the taxpaying public (and likely their children and their childrens' children).  They know bubbles alright but you can't trust what they say because they are all criminals who escaped prosecution because they have government in their back pockets.

Bitcoin doesn't allow for bailouts.  It doesn't have a limitless supply.  Bitcoin wont sink them; they just can't make use of it for their fraudulent purposes.

you can use Electrum Gold Wallet https://www.electrum-gold.org

That would probably be one of the worst mistakes you could ever make.

First i dont know why my proof image show an error like that ( could you teach me how to do the proper inserting of the image in the post/reply now i will try to use other site in uploading an image ), I dont know why you guys didnt receive bitcoin gold but i guess were using a same platform (bitgrail) it support the bitcoin gold , for me if you really using the same platform as mine try to contact the admin there because some of my friends also who are using the same platform we all received the free bitcoin gold from airdrop.

once again i hope it will work now

Oh I was just being an idiot.  I photoshop'd (Gimp'd actually) your image to make it show all zeros.
My point is, you've received tokens which represent Bitcoin Gold and they can only be traded on the exchange where you got them. You cannot move them to OR from this exchange because there is no wallet yet; it is still in the testing phase.

Also, you can't post images until you reach the rank of Jr Member.  Well, you can post them but they wont display until you reach that rank.

Do you like weekends ?
After working whole week like machines it is really a nice feeling to have weekend. Most of times I do not do any thing on weekend. It is usually used for rest. I also do some grocery and other tasks on weekends.

What do you do on your weekends???

I sell groceries on the weekend.
