5781  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reason why I put all my money in Bitcoin as a newbie on: May 27, 2022, 08:44:07 PM
Putting literally all your money into Bitcoin is not a good idea, not in a sense that you should buy some alts, but in a sense that you should have other investments and free cash. Rule #1 is to never invest what you can't afford to lose, and no one can afford to lose all their money.

And as for alts, no one should be touching them, newbie or not. Fundamentally they have no value.

Obviously a diversified portfolio is best and nobody should have 100% of their funds in anything.  I'm not sure I'd agree with alts having no value though.  Bitcoin isn't a smart chain.  There is plenty of need for a smart chain to exist and competition is the only way to see improvement accelerate in the space.  As soon as Bitcoin became a store of value instead of a useable currency, the door flung open for everyone to try and create a better chain that can function as a p2p currency.  My portfolio is nearly all Bitcoin, but ignoring the gains that have been made over the last few years in metaverse coins and L2 solutions doesn't make you a smart maximalist, it makes you a tunnel vision investor.
5782  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Interesting new coin for sale on Etsy - 3d printed. on: May 27, 2022, 08:32:13 PM
These look like cool coins that appear to be well done.  Nice work!

If I were to be the guy to sound an alarm on these types of coins, I would say to be careful of loading 3d printed coins like this with funds.  I'm not even hinting that anything is amiss here, but if 3d printed coins is a trend that's going to continue, people should be aware that the cost barrier of creating large precious metal coins keeps a lot of scammers out of the space.  They don't (often) have the funds necessary to have dies made and do a large precious metal mint just to attempt a scam.  However, 3d printed coins can be created for a fraction of the investment, making them an attractive attack vector on this community by scammers.

Again, these coins look cool and I'm not saying there's any reason to avoid them.  However, it is likely only a matter of time before someone starts selling loaded 3d printed coins with the intent of clearing out all the wallets.
5783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LUNA vs LUNA 2.0 on: May 27, 2022, 08:26:21 PM
Will it be worthwhile to hold and trade LUNC, and will LUNA 2.0 regain trust and position?

LUNA 2.0 will never be trusted by anyone.  It's an obvious ponzi scheme that blew up and now they're trying to make a ponzi scheme from the ashes in hopes that some people are able to get back some of the funds they lost.

The funny thing about the LUNA situation is that it opened people's eyes to HEX being the same sort of scam and we get to watch that implode in slow motion now.
5784  Other / Meta / Re: Remove "Report to moderator" from Wall Observer on: May 27, 2022, 08:23:54 PM
Are you serious? The posts have been reported to mods. That's all the attention a simple case of plagiarism needs.
Perhaps they missed your report? it's possible and that's why report on that's thread is one of to gain moderators attention. I don't know either report to moderator or report to that thread are better, but there's nothing wrong to do both.

If moderators "miss" that many reports then perhaps they shouldn't be moderators.

I think infofront was voted and appointed as the moderator of that thread a few years ago. I see he's still very active on the forum; perhaps he should tell us why the thread is still facing the same disaster that caused theymos to lock it sometime ago. I also believe, is why moderators have stopped paying attention to reports from that thread.

The thread appears to be the longest serving and has the most pages; it serves an important purpose, but something must be done to keep it alive.

Like you touched on, it's the longest thread on this forum and so there's a little bit of a reason why moderators might not want to constantly be attending to it.  We all probably want to see it continue to grow and it doesn't seem to be doing any harm to anyone.  I like glancing over the most recent posts to get a feel for the market.  I don't think moderators spending their time on that thread is a very good use of time, but neither is spending development time removing features from it.  I think this is one of those situations where the problem isn't really bothering anyone, so there's no need to be a Karen about it.
5785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to reboot frozen mining rig when not around on: May 27, 2022, 08:19:37 PM
How do you restart your mining rig remotely if you are not at home or at the farm? I am talking about rigs that goes into deep frozen state where you will only need to press the power button for few seconds before working again.
I use a smart wi-fi socket and in the BIOS of the motherboard I need to enable the AC power function. When voltage appears in the mains, your motherboard will start. You can use a smart wi-fi socket and electrical relays.

I was going to suggest this very same thing.  Basically, you just need a way to cut off power to the mining rig and then restart it (hence the smart power socket).  Then if you have your miner set with the above mentioned settings, it will automatically turn back on as soon as power is restored from the smart socket.  Then of course you have startup items set so that once your miner reboots, it opens the necessary software and begins mining on it's own.  It's a great solution to an issue that software won't be able to help with (because when your miner freezes, nothing is going to work).
5786  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Who to follow on Twitter and Why all football players fall in NFT? on: May 27, 2022, 08:07:11 PM
I've been following Elon Musk for a long time, imo he is one of the few billionaires with a good sense of humor.

Not just a good sense of humor, but he tells it like it is.  The far left has turned this country into a laughing stock and common sense is out the window.  I'm glad that someone with influence and the respect of the left (well, had the respect of the left until he drew the line at their woke mental health issues) has decided to start speaking out about the nonsense we're seeing in society.

As for football players and NFTs...  It's an easy way for them to get ahold of crypto by using their image instead of their money.  I doubt any of them have real use cases though.
5787  Economy / Speculation / Re: 🪄✨Crypto is rising on: May 27, 2022, 08:02:01 PM
🚀Right now, the bull market rages on.

My brother in Christ, are you sure you even know what a raging bull market is? Or were you just looking at the charts upside down?

I was sort of thinking the same thing.  The prices of most coins are down 85% and Bitcoin's price has been cut by more than half from the highs.  I wouldn't call it a bull market.  I'd say we're in a straight up crash and have been for more than half a year now.  It will soon be time to start buying again to prepare for the next wave up (once capitulation lowers the leveraged long positions).

I feel like this cycle we didn't get a good moon shot, only two failed attempts.  If we do hit another raging bull market, it will be something to behold as there is a lot more awareness this time.
5788  Economy / Reputation / Re: Why not tag all bounty hunters? on: May 27, 2022, 07:38:05 PM
I think tagging Newbies for "bounty abuse" is futile. Accounts with high Activity and 0 Merit have nothing to lose, because they can easily create new accounts. Worse: it makes negative feedback very common instead of reserved for scammers, which leads to more and more people (including bounty/campaign managers) ignoring the warning. So I don't think tagging them makes the forum better.

Nice to see you're beginning to understand the problem.  You still have a ways to go, but I think you've reached the opinion I had in about 2016.  Maybe in another half a dozen years you'll start to see that you're actually contributing to the problem and begin working to fix the trust system instead of trying to empower those who are actively destroying it in order to maintain some form of control even though their lack of actual interaction trading and working with users makes them unfit to carry such responsibility.
5789  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Eastern Conference Finals (Heat vs Celtics) on: May 27, 2022, 07:25:23 PM
I am prediction a low scoring game tomorrow as it's going to be physical both teams wanting to win.

Both teams played a defensive game, so most likely it's a low scoring game again.
The over/under line now is 201. Last game, they only have a total of 173 points, so I think that 201 is already high and the under looks very attractive.
This will be a hard battle, Heat will surely not give up on this easily and that low scoring game are more possible.
We know this two teams are great in physical plays, it's just a matter of proper execution. Below 190 points are more possible, this could be a safe points to predict. Warriors will surely look into this game and watch the team that they are going to face in the finals, Celtics is on a good position here.

Warriors are always ready for whoever wins the series. As a fan, I like to see the best to face the Warriors so both teams will have even support from the bettors. The Celtics are likely to win, question is if they can cover the spread since I'm a bit doubtful because of the past result that the Celtics have beat them via blowout.

It's a tough choice to make because their previous games in this series were all won by 10+ points by both teams, but I'm rooting for the Celtics to win here and close the series. This will be a close and low scoring game but the Heat's key players are mostly injured and they're just nursing it for the time being because they cannot afford to lose without giving a fight.

I think the Celtics finish things off tonight and send the Heat fishing.  They've got to be looking to get this series behind them so they can rest up and get ready for the Warriors.  Nobody on the Celtics want to know the Warriors are relaxing and watching game tape while they're still preparing for the Heat matchup...  I'm expecting a good first half that turns into a blowout as the Heat give up and Tatum or Smart walking away with the first ever Eastern Conference MVP award.
5790  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] NastyFans 1g .999 Fine Silver Collector's Rounds (2013) - 0.001 BTC on: May 27, 2022, 07:20:13 PM
I only have a little over a dozen of these remaining.  There will not ever be any more of these created as the company that created them is no longer in business and the dies have long since been lost.  PM me if you're interested in grabbing yourself one of the last ones for 0.001 BTC each.  They seem to be rather popular suddenly so don't miss out on what might be your last chance to own one of these little classics that started my coin-making journey.
5791  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is your fill the bag Bitcoin price? on: May 27, 2022, 09:42:47 AM
My diversification plan has me more likely to sell crypto than buy it...  However, I think if the price were to fall down to $9,800 I would probably divert some funds from other investments to picking up a stack of BTC.  More likely I would sell off a lot of the things I purchased with BTC when the price was higher, which is one of the smarter things to do to increase your stack while enjoying it as well.
5792  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Western Conference Finals (Warriors vs Mavericks) on: May 27, 2022, 08:54:39 AM

Warriors is just a tough team to beat after all, I think they now have all the odds to be the champions once again in the NBA, they're up in the rankings once again. Those outside shootings are just impossible to contain from the Warriors, they are a different breed tbh. I think it will be Celtics vs. Warriors in the NBA Finals.

Well, they have proved it before and they did it again this year. This only means that they don't really need KD to win those championships before, KD needs them.
What the Warriors only need is being healthy 100%. Iggy wasn't even playing, he was a great addition for both offensively and defensively.
I'm glad to see them once a again on the biggest stage.
I am also expecting the Celtics to win the ECF.

It was a great game and Steph deserved the first ever Conference Finals MVP award. I agree with what Draymond said in the postgame interview with the TNT crew that they’ll be playing the Celtics next. I expect Steph will be holding up a Finals MVP trophy at the end of that series.
5793  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can America end the war in Ukraine?? on: May 26, 2022, 09:48:04 PM
I would think that due to the proximity with Russia, America is somewhat limited in what could be done without setting off a larger scale war. What Biden has said we planned to do was to make it extremely expensive and detrimental to Russia. This seems to be the case. Ultimately though, nobody is in a position but Russia to stop this war.
5794  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: May 26, 2022, 09:44:43 PM
I think Golden State will finish this series so they can finally move on to the finals and that is looking like it will be the Celtics the way the Heat played in their last game.

I agree. It probably should have been Warriors vs Bucks, but the Middleton injury. I would’ve rather seen Warriors vs 76ers also, but the Embiid injury… That Boston team is a good one though and they’ve been through a lot together, so I’m not mad about it. I do think the Warriors will end up on top though, further cementing the legacy of that squad.
5795  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: May 26, 2022, 07:33:37 PM
I'll admit, I was sceptical at first. I had mixed feelings, and that's why I didn't end up pulling the trigger in the end. However, now especially in the electric field this is the vehicle for me. I might contact Tesla, and see what they say about taking the order off UK, and whether it was law related. Since, for a machine like this I'd be willing to import it over if it's still road legal over here.

Let me know if you want me to put in a preorder for you. I’m sure we could work something out.  Grin

However, I’m sure some of these things will make their way across the pond for sale before a preorder made now would ever ship. I even question if someone placing a preorder now would ever receive one, given the amount of preorders made and their limited production ability.
5796  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price with a 4 year cycle? on: May 26, 2022, 07:22:28 PM
I think the 4-year cycle could be broken now. Bitcoin has only gone up throughout history, we all know that very well and you can see it in the annual price chart. But in the history of bitcoin, it has never experienced a global world crisis, which is where we are now. No one knows what will happen to the price when the crisis really happens. But even at $1k, the blockchain will work just as well as at $30k.

I don’t know if I’d say the 4-year cycle is broken, but with the introduction of options and derivatives it has definitely been muted. I still expect we’ll see upward pressure after halvings as a result of the four year cycle, just no massive bubbles (only regular bubbles). I think a $120K price target in 2025 is a reasonable one given the recent market behavior. Might seem underwhelming, but it’s still a x4 from here in 3 years.
5797  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] NastyPool 1g .999 Fine Silver Collector's Rounds (2014) - 0.001 BTC on: May 26, 2022, 04:19:23 PM
I've received a good amount of interest in these coins and I do still have a small bag of them left.  I guess people have been selling them for enormous markups on eBay recently so I've decided to update the price (reduced it by x10) and officially offer them for sale again while supplies last.  I'll also be updating the other 1g silver coin thread in the near future, but you can find them here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=273629.0

PM me if you're interested in purchasing.
5798  Economy / Lending / Re: Need $30 fee payed for my monkey nft on: May 26, 2022, 04:11:44 PM
SCAM LIKELY lol.

You mean someone who can afford a several hundred thousand dollar NFT wouldn't have problems paying a $30 network fee to list it for sale?  I might have to agree there...  Especially since they could literally just accept the highest offer on their NFT and get paid in WETH, thereby avoiding the fee altogether.

OP, I'll help you out if you need it.  Just transfer the monkey NFT to my wallet and I'll take care of it for you.  I'll even give you an extra 10% and we can split it 80/20.
5799  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: May 26, 2022, 04:08:04 PM
So, I've actually become increasingly interested in getting the Tesla, except most don't have enough range for me. Whereas, the Cybertruck is estimated to be having 500 miles of range, so probably safe to assume it'll get at least 400. The thing is where I live it is rather hilly, and the lack of charging points is quite evident when you compare it to the USA or even England. So, range is incredibly important. However, after coming to the decision of actually finally reserving it, they've removed the order button for UK/Europe.

I think it's to do with laws, and how big its going to be. So, safety laws. Makes sense, I remember hearing the dimensions on the reveal, and thinking that would never fit in Welsh lanes. However, I guess that would need to be worked out rather than just assuming.

I guess for those living in the UK, we'll have to order it from the USA, and have it imported, as long as it's considered road legal. The thing is most of the other cars in their inventory doesn't interest me. Model 3 doesn't have the range, but I nearly pulled the trigger on it a while back, and the model S plaid looks promising, but the price is just too much to justify.

This at least provides that range, and for a somewhat reasonable price. Plus, I'll be honest the specifications, and the look has grown on me over the years. Typical when its no longer available.

Range is less important for me, but I'll admit that I hope I'm able to upgrade my order to the flagship 4-motor version (maybe a Plaid version).  Mostly because I'm not sure how much longer I can wait for one of these and that model will be built first, but also because I think it might be the most awesome civilian vehicle ever built so I might as well go all out...

As we get closer to 2023, I hope we see a plan emerge for how they'll be handling preorders and upgrades.
5800  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 26, 2022, 04:03:53 PM
It feels to me like we're back in an accumulation phase with this sideways movement.  I'd be extremely bullish but there are a few factors to consider.

1)  We are at the point in the cycle where another drop is to be expected.

2)  Mtgox coins are still hanging over the market's head.

3) Leveraged long positions on bitfinex are at an all time high meaning a lot of selling needs to take place to cover those positions.

Those are 3 factors that shouldn't be ignored by anyone looking to invest.  It is still quite likely that there's another big drop in store, even if the market is feeling particularly bullish.

#3 is the worst one...  I think we might be just about to see those things closed out one way or the other...

I think #2 is the worst one.  There are a whole lot of coins that will be dumped on the market.  That would likely trigger #3 and only accelerate the downturn.  Without an ETF to soak up some of that liquidity, it might be a bad time for the BTC price.  With so much leveraged action on the long side, it will be difficult to see another big leg up without first seeing a capitulation drop.
