581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Chinese still can invest in ICOs on: September 17, 2017, 01:24:34 PM
the chinese ban the ICOs in their country. So if the chinese want to invest in the ICOs their can still buy the ICOs outside of their country.

That's good to hear for non-Chinese ICOs or token sales.

582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you read ICOs white paper before investing? on: September 17, 2017, 01:19:08 PM
Not only should you read the white paper, you should also confirm that the team can develop.

Just because they have titles like "CTO", "Developer", etc., it doesn't mean anything if they cannot prove that they have developed before.  They should have software that you can touch, feel and smell and confirm that they can build something.

It's surprising how many projects cannot prove this.

Writing thousands of lines of code takes much more skill, work and time than to make a nice looking video.

583  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US to remove taxes on bitcoin! more bitcoin=currency stuff on: September 17, 2017, 01:15:26 PM
Good find.
584  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So Bitcoin is better than Gold? on: September 17, 2017, 12:44:42 AM
It's only a matter of time until cryptos surpass gold as the premier store of value.
585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Tsunami on: September 17, 2017, 12:27:51 AM
If this is a bubble, this is the 4th bubble for Bitcoin.

586  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should a case be filed on the CEO who tagged bitcoin as fraud and bought the dip on: September 17, 2017, 12:25:13 AM
John McAfee said it well.

He asked:  which one is the bigger fraud?

One that costs miners thousands of dollars to make each bitcoin...

or

One that costs the government nothing to print and can print as much as they want.

587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many bought ETH just to join an ICO ? on: September 17, 2017, 12:19:21 AM
i would say the main catalyst for bitcoin's rise this year was people buying bitcoin to buy ethereum to buy icos.

if there hadn't have been any icos then bitcoin would be half or less of its current price and ethereum would be 20-30 bucks.

That sounds plausible.

588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in ICO, still promising? on: September 17, 2017, 12:15:41 AM
It's stunning that there are so many ICOs with no working software.

Make sure the team has demonstrable software to prove that they can actually develop.

Most ICOs have nothing to show in this regard.  Some have code at Github but it's meaningless if you cannot run the software to see how good or useful it is.

If they cannot prove that they can develop software, then the team members' fancy titles, bios or CVs are meaningless at best, fraudulent at worst.

Some ICOs have videos, but it takes way more time, money and skill to develop thousands of lines of code than to make a video.

589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Token Sale] STOCKBET - Putting stock market gaming onto the blockchain! on: September 16, 2017, 09:39:11 PM
We made some minor upgrades to StockBet.com.

If you go there, please refresh your browser.

Note that these upgrades are minor relative to what we already have at StockBet.com, but StockBet.com is a fully functional site that is much more than what other projects have.
590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How trustworthy are ico rating sites? on: September 16, 2017, 08:53:24 PM
A lot of them are paid. Only trust your own judgement.

Several of them are.  Some aren't, such as icoalert.com.

There are many sites that list ICOs and token sales.  However, they are a subset of the list on Bitcointalk.org's Announcement (Altcoins) page, for the following reasons:

  • Not all of the project teams will know about all of the ICO sites, but they all know about and will announce on Bitcointalk.org's Announcement (Altcoins) page
  • Not all of the projects will pay to get listed on these ICO sites

However, Bitcointalk.org's Announcement (Altcoins) sorts the announcements based on which ones had the most recent comments.  Therefore, on the first page, you'll see announcements that were originally posted months ago and even announcements whose token sales have ended.

To find the most recent announcements, go to Bitcointalk's advanced search page and enter:

  • ANN in the "Search for:" field
  • Change the "Between 0 and 9999 days" field
  • Under "Choose a board to search in, or search all", uncheck "Check all".  Then click on + to expand the list and check only "Announcements (Altcoins)"
  • Click Search

This will show the announcements for the days that you selected.

591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the news that JPmorgan bought btc true? on: September 16, 2017, 08:37:37 PM
Jamie Dimon's daughter bought Bitcoin.

They must've coordinated Jamie's bashing to happen before she scooped in to buy.

592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Active/Ongoing ICOs on: September 16, 2017, 08:14:55 PM
This is a good start, but I believe their list only includes ICOs that paid to list. Plus they don't easily list the coins accepted.

Several of them charge to be listed.  ICOalert.com is free to list.

593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm now a MILLIONAIRE because of NEO. on: September 16, 2017, 08:05:58 PM
Congratulations.

Hopefully, you'll hit 2 million soon.

594  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin (BTC) back to $2749 on: September 16, 2017, 07:15:20 PM
How did you calculate $2749?
595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin UP: bitcoin is awesome; Down: bitcoin is shit and fraud on: September 16, 2017, 07:11:36 PM
Most people's sentiments are based on the past.

It's rare when someone can focus only on the future and discard the past in forming an opinion.

596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What the hell is JPMorgan upto? on: September 16, 2017, 07:08:35 PM
Jamie Dimon's daughter bought Bitcoin.

They probably coordinated it.  Jamie slams Bitcoin with his bashing.  Daughter scoops in and picks up bitcoin for cheap.

597  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Token Sale] STOCKBET - Putting stock market gaming onto the blockchain! on: September 16, 2017, 01:36:28 PM
And what bounty campaign will be?

Please view the announcement at the top of this thread (page 1).  It describes the bounty campaigns.
598  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: effect of war to bitcoin on: September 16, 2017, 02:13:49 AM
People typically flock to gold during times of crisis.

If Bitcoin is truly a competitor to gold as a store-of-value, then Bitcoin might rally if war breaks out.

599  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Token Sale] STOCKBET - Putting stock market gaming onto the blockchain! on: September 15, 2017, 06:52:53 PM
