581  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Inflation rate and Bitcoin. on: December 22, 2023, 06:19:29 PM
.
.

The vice presidential candidate of Indonesia, santiaga Uno, in expressing interest in Bitcoin and for his campaigns said he would raise Bitcoin experts in order to help the country's economy. Let's not even dive into the fact that the Nigerian government has shown no interest whatsoever in Bitcoin talk more of accepting it for Economic purposes. Let's move into the facts that Santiaga wants to raise Bitcoin experts meanwhile, we have Bitcoin experts in this country why isn't it helping the economy even if it's a little? Or does it have to be a political thing before it makes an impact on the economy?

Well I think the rave at which politicians are starting to use Bitcoin as their agenda manifesto is just starting to look really odd although I would or might count it as a good development as the adoption of Bitcoin would be on a larger scale but one thing that should be understood is that a politician promising to work closely with Bitcoin might be just a strategy for them to win their election because they definitely know the masses will follow them just like the dramatic Argentina president and his flaunting talks about Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is good in many aspect but am sure its not a magic saviour that can wipe out the inflation like the way we are proposing it to be or even make the country okay overnight and I say this with El Salvador in the picture, even though they have made Bitcoin their legal tender doesn't mean there are not still facing challenges.

583  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Is online bank good? on: December 16, 2023, 06:58:16 PM
Many Nigerians are used to online banks and funny to say online banks gets more customers than banks like Firstbank, Access bank e.t.c. So my question is that is online bank good? Is it safe? These are the questions I ask and some people normally ask. Many people don’t like online because it doesn’t have any office you can run to in case of any issues.

Can it get hacked?
I would actually say yes it can get hacked. It’s very easy to hack online banks.

If the phone gets missing, can you block the account?
No, if your phone gets missing and you’re using an online bank it will be easily hacked or they can easily take all your money while other banks, if you’re phone or ATM card gets missing you can go to their office and lay a complain and they will close down the account or card.
My brother so far technology is concerned there is no system nor software created by the human mind that cannot be hacked. So thinking that online bank are unsafe due to security breach is just a silly excuse, because I believe even the commercial banks can be hack and before now that online banks were not this popular, many people and I have witnessed many myself, have complianed that someone hack their account and sometimes it may be to the ignorance of the owner of account.

If Bitcoin wallet and transaction which are said to be decentralized and more tightly secure can be hacked then what are online banks and commercial banks that are controlled by human and bankers like me and you that cannot be hacked. Because I liked to believe that most times, if an account information is leaked the bankers are widely involved in it.
584  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Why most Nigerian struggle financially in January on: December 16, 2023, 06:51:15 PM

Lolz!!! Landlord and tenant quarrel will start after festival period. But they normally understand themselves in this period.

I swear, landlord go just dey watch the tenant with one eye as if e no dey see as him dey enjoy dey spend anyhow, forgetting say him get bills to pay but the landlord sef go join am celebrate because na the period of celebration but immediately the period pass Omo na big quarel oo. I remember one big problem wey happen for ma area one time like that , Omo no be small thing oo, the whole was based on the issue say the tenant don go use him saving for the Christmas holidays and now come dey refuse to pay back.
585  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Prove me wrong: Gambling is both more relaxing and entertaining than trading! on: December 16, 2023, 06:44:38 PM
Well it surely is more entertaining as by doing trading you get nothing as an emotion, sure you get that feeling I find it right and I won some money in the best case scenario while by gambling you are enjoying the graphics, music and theme of the slot, when you hit the bonus round and expect to win huge it is a feeling that you never will encounter in any trading session.

Trading is a whole lot more like sport betting as in there even when you bet you don't get more entertainment than in trading, you just place your bets and wait for the outcome, just like in trading you do your calls and wait for the outcome.
I tend to believe that waiting and watching your trade is stress filled unlike enjoying your game of sport (football or basketball). I don't know if you watch the FIFA world cup final between France and Argentina, boy it was filled with lots of excitement as the two teams were playing and entertaining the football world and to think I placed a bet on Argentina to be champions which was more entertaining and funs even more as they finally defeated France after all the drama which I enjoyed very well.
586  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you Spending more or less money on Casino this Holiday season on: December 16, 2023, 06:37:21 PM
On the other hand, if you are still willing to increase your gambling budget this Holiday, I wish you good luck and sweet earnings! All the best, and that you have done the best decision for your season!
We're all on our own this holiday.

We can increase it if we can and if the bonuses have arrived, enjoy it and don't regret spending it to the things that you like because it's meant to be spent.

While there are a lot of interesting promos that we can see from casinos, many of us won't let it pass and we're going to take the promos as a chance to get at least one of them.
For me I think I will avoid anything such as promotion from these casino because it will just lead to more spending as I believe these promotions are like a game trap set for we the gamblers because some of these bonuses are really tempting and after we involve ourselves in them and don't get the desired results we can tend to fund more and more which obviously is not good for this period when they are so many other spending activities to do with.
587  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: December 16, 2023, 07:45:48 AM
Liverpool has won the UEFA European League and the last time was in 2001. This shows that they have a good history with the UEFA European League. But even so, they have to be ready and focused because the teams from the Champions League are certainly strong teams that should not be underestimated. So far I see AC Milan as the most likely to beat Liverpool. But we also see that other teams are also quite strong, such as Leverkusen, West Ham or Brighton.
How does it feel to sits down without any any vision of keep trying everything. I'm yet to see any improving case were Liverpool will stood so low to losing average clubs despite them not been in the League. Jurgen Klopp will mapping solid chances of winning. I think Jurgen Klopp have to be careful against these clubs coming to Europa league from UEFA Champions League football. But on a second thought, Liverpool is elite club and they don't have fears playing tougher clubs this season. Rather we have good winnings that will shocked everything within an estimated time.
I don't what you are sighting but I understand the fact football is a game that there is no certainty or guarantee on any teams superiority but for a fact Liverpool of this season seems to stand out from many teams in this year's Europa league competition and I believe the reason they even lost their last was due to the fact they have already qualified and sitting comfortable at the top of their group if not I believe they would atleast gotten a draw or even won that game
588  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do Owners of betting companies bet? on: December 16, 2023, 07:40:34 AM
Why wrong? Isn't it a good thing actually? Because, it prevents them to become addicted and lose everything they have, ( if not some, or most of their profits ). But, I think all casino owners do have an experience in playing gambling. It is an advantage and this is what they like or, this is where their passion is, resulting for them to came up with such business.

If in case their urge kicks in, it's best if they can only play within their own platform. This is the same as playing for fun because it was still their own money after all, is the one that they will be getting, in case they are winning. And if they lose, there is no harm, because the money will still go on their own wallet.
I can see your point, however when it comes to lotteries and other similar gambling games it is stated very clearly that anyone which is part of that business or their family cannot participate on it, and if they do they will not be paid the prize they could have received.

This is done as a way to avoid those employees to manipulate the results on their favor, and since the owner of a casino is in a position similar to that, it should be better for them to not do this, as a way to avoid the temptation of manipulating the results on their favor as well.
Thats some logic there but my only confusion is how is it that the person that's win can be proven otherwise if he or she decides to fake a false identity after the whole manipulation has been done. Am not saying that these things happen but just pointing out that it can be easily manipulated even with that rule that is placed there.
589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 16, 2023, 07:32:41 AM
Arsenal's defeat last week was a blow to them and of course the Arsenal team does not want to drag on and wants to get up quickly so that they are not left behind by points in the current Premier League standings with the top teams which currently have quite fierce competition at the top.
On the other hand, Brighton currently seems to be experiencing a slight decline in performance and inconsistency in their team's play, so it is very possible for Arsenal to win this match, I am very sure of that.
This is really interesting, although based on head to head both of the teams have a same result, but the bookie give Arsenal become a huge favorite in this match. It's not worth to bet Arsenal to win, I guess bet on both teams to score is make sense here.

Both of them are frequently score a goal in every match regardless the result is.
The game is really going to be another test for arsenal to see how they cope and how they will go about it that will guarantee their champions fighting spirit in this year's league battle. Brighton are one of the top teams that are really hard to win this season and when it comes to goals scoring they are at the top of their game and if am to predict anyone winning this game I think arsenal might just manage to come victorious due to the fact that they are cautious of their league title race.
590  Economy / Speculation / Re: What did you think will happen to Bitcoin before January? on: December 16, 2023, 07:25:02 AM
With my analysis and observation, I think before January there will be an inflation in Bitcoin. This coin have depreciate to it stop limit, that is where it can not further depreciate again.
And whenever this coin gets to this point, it reverses back and then boom and trust me it's about time.
Nobody knows exactly what will happen to the price of bitcoin next year so I believe that instead of the price of bitcoin to be decrease the price of bitcoin will increase to a point that it will be unexpected from my areas of understanding of the bullrun come 2024, so from my understanding concerning bitcoin price, I believe that the price of bitcoin will get more accelerated.

Exactly the  point i try to portray everytime whenever I see someone highlighting very vividly his insight on the price of Bitcoin. With my little time here around the crypto space I have to the little understanding that Bitcoin price is not something that anyone is certain about and they is no guarantee as what we all do is merely just speculation on the price and the actual price that it might reach.
591  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ledger seem compromised again on: December 16, 2023, 07:11:23 AM
All over Twitter people are filming themselves destroying their ledgers. This is numerous times that something like this has happened. Do you feel safe storing your crypto this way?

Ledger needs to be open sourced and the chances of this happening will be lower, however since they are for profit they obviously aren’t going to do that.

Best cold storage these days is anything that is open sourced.
I don't have any business with ledger wallet whatsoever but its seem the hack was really big although the CEO is claiming their doing everything under their power to actually maintain the issue from getting out of hand but it would be best for everyone that is using the wallet to actually lay off and stay on a low because it's better to play safe than be ignorant and suffer the cost.

Aslo read this article ledger wallet hack about some of the stolen assets worth $60000 has been frozen by the appropriate network in charge of the transaction.
592  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading is hard!!! on: December 15, 2023, 10:22:55 AM
The only person that can picture trading as a Ponzi or get rich quick scheme is someone who doesn't have a proper knowledge about cryptocurrency. Out there, a good number of people do not have concrete knowledge about Bitcoin, crypto, not even trading, they probably heard some misinformation from another inexperienced users and therefore get convinced by the small information they have got from that person. Trading is not very easy even from the start to when you become more experienced, although it also depends on the kind of trader the person is, some persons are leveraging while some are only spot traders and based on my own experience, spot trading is less of a risk compared to leveraging.
They tend to confuse the whole thing and sometimes you can't blame them, I mean they must have come across trading expert claiming that its easy to actually trade and have profits without probably telling that trading is something that's need years of experience and not something that you can lots of cash from. Sometimes it's human greed that causes someone to feel that they can earn much with very little effort.
593  Other / Off-topic / Re: Simple advice, don't get carried away by people success stories. on: December 15, 2023, 10:09:21 AM
my advice to everyone out there is that we should all be cautious of what we do from the things we hear because sometimes what profits the next man can actually turn out to be a disappointment to you.
I have learnt to stop believing completely in all the stories from people, especially when it is a personal story told, because often times the details are exaggerated to gather more praise and admiration. If you get carried away by the story of other people you would be making a big mistake because you will be distracted from chasing your own success and maybe start rethinking that in cases where you are not motivated by the lies in their story, you will feel like you are not doing enough.

Sometimes many people lose their way just because they want to replicate other people success. Many people don't know that's some of these stories are just hype and don't really tell the whole struggle that's involved or problem encounter before they could achieve such height and you hearing only the part that's sweet like honey, you then decide to replicate the good part to yourself and boom you fall like an elephant with no balance.
594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: December 14, 2023, 09:02:05 PM
Occupying the bottom position is incredibly embarrassing, and even losing to an underdog team is evidence that their quality is not yet reliable enough to be champions. So, I consider Manchester United's loss in the UCL as the right way to deliver a clear message to the Glazer family that MU is currently in a bad state.
Everyone knows that Manchester United is in a bad situation, the players, their manager and the hierarchy at the club knows this and they have to go back to the drawing board to solve some of their problems. I know that so many Manchester United fans will prolly think their problem stems from the Glazers, and even if they might be correct to an extent, i think the manager and the players are also culpable for their present predicament.

Manchester United deserve to be eliminated and they got what they deserved, there is also a very high chance that they would not be in the CL next season, because i doubt if United would finish in the top four at the end of this season.
For me top four is definitely out the question for Manchester united this season because this season is already half and what the club needs now is a firm decision to actually sack the coach or move on to another strategy by maybe getting more players that can help the club in every area that they need strengthening. It's like a hurt session whenever one goes to watch Manchester united play and as a united fan it's just saddens you.
595  Other / Off-topic / Simple advice, don't get carried away by people success stories. on: December 14, 2023, 02:54:20 PM
There are so many factors that can influence people actions and we all should be careful on how to react when we hear people talk about success stories that are wildly exaggerated.

In the third world country today and I would like to believe not only there, they seem to be so much wave all about the cryptocurrency market or industry whatever suit the explanation, but the thing is that many people actually get intrigued by the success stories of some maybe influencers or people that aren't actually expert on the field but maybe experience one or two lucky session especially when we look at it from the trading aspect.

A friend of mine actually fell victim to this type of hyped success stories as he explained to me the reason he ever got involved was because of the thrills he got from a discussion he indulge himself on. Without making proper research he bought some certain altcoin due to the over excitement that was actually spread by the person telling him on how he made huge profits from the coin overnight and him being a novice actually got involved and had the worse experience from the action he took, losing almost all the capital used for the investment as the coins dumped so fast as the way it pumped high too.

my advice to everyone out there is that we should all be cautious of what we do from the things we hear because sometimes what profits the next man can actually turn out to be a disappointment to you.

All other advice too are welcome from senior here to help guide those enthusiastic newbie that are willing to do anything to earn profits or be as successful as the story they hear.

596  Economy / Reputation / Re: My 10 Year ( and some days) Bitcointalk Anniversary on: December 12, 2023, 06:06:45 PM
First of all, I apologize for being late (reading my nickname it seems rather ironic) but some real life problems kept me away from the PC and made me miss my account creation  tenth anniversary.
Even though I am not a person who loves being the center of attention or showing off, I think this is an achievement that should be honored, that I'm proud off ( I never gave up my faith in crypto) and above all a tribute of gratitude to this place to which I owe practically all my, albeit limited, knowledge of crypto environment.
I enjoyed all the 136 days, 20 hours ad 37 minutes I stayed logged in  Grin ad above all I never experencied a boring day in crypto.
Thank you all for making this place my online safe haven.

On a side note , just out of curiosity, I digged back to my first post here and rereading it

Hi all,
my nickname says all.
I first heard about bitcoin during 2011 but didn't understand it, folded and moved on.
Last days I read about their value near to $1000 and it ruined my days because I was near to get this train but didn't.

Now I would like to enter and hope someone can address me to the first steps to do.

First of all, I guess, I need to make a wallet, right? Where/how can I do this?

Do I need a wallet for every cryptocurrency I would like to hold?

Thx in advance for your patience and cooperation

it definitely seems I wasn't too late.  Smiley

I love this place!
Congratulations man and I hope one day I can achieve what you have done here, I mean, a whole decay here,  wow that's some impressive record there and i say congratulations to you sir, I hope this is just the starting point to many more years ahead.

598  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: December 12, 2023, 12:35:09 PM
Some people do not have any choice regarding lump sum.   If they have $2,400 coming in per month, and they have between $50 and $100 per week that they are able to spend on Bitcoin, then maybe they are choosing to buy BTC every week, but surely if they save some extra on the side for buying on dips, maybe they don't have a lot that is set aside, so they still might not have much choice but to invest whatever extra cash flow that they are able to generate by increasing their income and/or by reducing their expenses, and maybe once in a while they might be able to get some extra cash coming in that they would have the ability to decide the extent to which lump sum and buying on dips might be preferable to just continuing with their ongoing practice of DCA.
I understand that some people don't have a choice when it come to investing a large amount of money at once. If someone has  fix income and not have much extra money... they may not be able to save a lot for buy investments when the prices are low. In these cases they may have to keep investing a little bit of money regularly. But it is important to think about ways to make more money or spend less so they can save more for investing. It's about finding the right balance between regular investing and taking advantage of good opportunities in the market. And this is only Bitcoin where they can believe in.
I don't know why the need to stress oneself is compulsory because I believe before ever anyone would think of an investment, proper assessment of your income flow needs to be checked as not everyone is an high earner that can easily save up a portion of their earnings that's why it's important to secure at least more than one job or have multiple income flow because without this aspect of thought one can be tempted to touch or sell their investment bit by bit to meet up with life struggles.

The DCA method can be helpful and also the notion to always buy on dips because that would be an advantage for them as one can get a good amount of Bitcoin secure but the issue will be that this needs to be done consistently.

Also their is fact that not all investors actually get to achieve their way because of the lack of planning even the one's that has lots of cash to cover up their DCA plans as commitment to the plan is also another that people actually miss out on the important window to stack up some coins when they have the chance to buy the dip.
599  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 12, 2023, 03:17:53 AM
Chelsea team needs more improvement. Chelsea's performance is likely to improve if coach Poch can build his squad with his preferred players in the next winter transfer window.
In the next transfer window, Pochettino is thinking of signing new defensive defenders, midfielders, and strikers in addition to the once they have already had. The question now remain, doesn't it mean Pochettion doesn't know how to feature the existing players who are newly signed this season?
It is saddening to see how Chelsea performs with their so called players quality players so many of us praise them for signing into their team at the beginning of this season. Having them play like this makes a jaw drop in disbelief that Chelsea would play like a mediocre club that can't win matches in weeks

At some point in the season everyone taught that Chelsea is beginning to look Abit stable but it was all to no avail as the whole thing was just a mere football set up as their performance is worst now. Chelsea just needs a player that can change the context of this Chelsea team and give them a winning mentality. it's just that the whole  team is absolutely poor on decision making and I hope porchettino can do something about this come January transfer.
