581  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather Vs McGregor: Info and prediction thread on: June 15, 2017, 02:06:17 PM
The odds are stacked up against Conor McGregor in this match. I can’t imagine how he’d stand a chance against Mayweather, where 49  legit boxers have failed and can’t even figure out how to solve the Mayweather puzzle. This would be more of a circus and the hype this fight is going to generate is what’s going to make it exciting, not the actual fight itself. This might not even go the distance as Conor isn’t used to fighting longer than 25 minutes.

Conor has:

-Height advantage
-Reach advantage
-Age advantage
-Power advantage (allegedly, for we don't know how strong his punches will be on boxing gloves)

That's about it. He has to use his advantages and try to KO him in the first rounds. If it goes beyond round 5... things will become increasingly impossible for Conor.

Mayweather will keep distance for the first round, then jab him into desperation and get the most points. If he gets caught in a bad angle, Mayweather can KO him too. When you catch someone in a bad angle doing the wrong movement, you don't need tremendous power to KO. Mayweather used to have it all when he was young, KO power too, not anymore, but again, he still can punch with enough power to KO someone if he's caught in the wrong moment

Conor is probably an Olympian level boxer at best, so he will make a lot of mistakes.
582  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Another successful short by Jihan & Ver on: June 15, 2017, 11:44:01 AM
Jihan & Ver Demotions CO. has successfully, once again, crashed the price with their ridiculous premined, stealth-mined JihanCoin hardfork attempt and reaped on the benefits by shorting.

"This blog post should be enough to crash the price!!" - Jihan Wu

What will be next in hardforking adventures of the big blockers? Let's find out.
583  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: June 15, 2017, 01:39:53 AM
Has Floyd Mayweather signed the contract? Conor tweeted that something big is coming but it did not say what.

https://twitter.com/TheNotoriousMMA/status/874041932036677633

There is also news that Mayweather promotions booked a date for a boxing event on August 26, 2017. Could this be really it?

This is it:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1967386.0

I made a thread there so lets continue on there. Just look around and you'll see the news are all over the internet.

584  Economy / Gambling discussion / Mayweather Vs McGregor: Info and prediction thread on: June 15, 2017, 01:32:24 AM
As predicted months ago... this fight was meant to happen. I knew it was going to be 2017, but september, not this soon (August 26th)

This will be the biggest fight ever in terms of numbers. Expect insane gambling to happen that night.

Will Mayweather win as expected? Will McGregor pull the biggest upset ever and make a lot of people rich in case you bet for a McGregor win? Let's find out. My money is on Mayweather as usual. It worked 49 times, it should work again. Anything can happen in the sport of boxing tho, which is what makes this fight interesting, to see if McGregor lucks out and uses his power to KO him. I think his possibilities for an upset will get increasingly harder the longer the fight goes on. Mayweather typically tests the opponent for some rounds then proceeds to perform surgery on him, so McGregor needs to find a way o stop the fight quick.

585  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: OKCash, soon on Poloniex on: June 15, 2017, 12:21:30 AM
When you claim your coin is going Poloniex, you post proof of your coin going into Poloniex. Otherwise, at least claim its a rumor, or it looks way too obvious that you are trying to pump your bag. We all have bags, but at least promote your coin in a more reasonable way if you want anyone to buy.

I have no idea what OkCash is, but I doubt it has priority over Bancor, Tezos, and all those big ICOs which are going to enter Polo for sure.
586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tezos bounty on: June 14, 2017, 09:36:22 PM
Everybody is running behind Tezos and expecting it to be the next hit.

Do we currently have true evidence that Tezos is not just an ICO with heavy marketing and support by wealthy individuals?

I hear all over the place, people are just waiting to invest.. Even people who know very little on crypto are saying "thats the next big thing".

Well, you have to understand your position (poor peasants hustling which is what we are) then after understanding that, we can do nothing but try to swing through the waves created by the big whales, and try to profit.

Tim Drapper has a reputation. Unless he wants to destroy it... I guess he wants this to work. If they buy a fuck ton, they become main players in the game. So what you do is buy, and hope you don't get trolled (they don't care about their reputation and just dump) so you'll have to hope that they manipulate the price into going up.

The question is, will the ICO be worth it, or it will be better to buy after it hits exchanges?

Im not paying high gas shit on ETH or even bothering with it. If they allow BTC then I may bite the bullet and buy some.
587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitmain announces plan to create altcoin if BIP148 succeeds on: June 14, 2017, 06:11:07 PM
So this is the reason for the dump. I'm getting sick of this shit to be honest, Jihan needs to burn in the fires of hell. This guy is becoming a real pain in the ass.

No, he should be thanked and honored for having the courage and integrity to do the right thing and to lead the mining community with on chain scaling, to the benefit of everyone.

The only ones benefiting from Buggy Unlimited or any other Forkcoin are:

1) Miners (for they will control bitcoin 100%)
2) Enemies of bitcoin (for people not being able to run nodes make the network an easier target)
3) Bitmain shills (for their revenue will get increased)
4) Idiots that don't have 5 bucks to spend on fees to make an onchain transaction and think the tradeoffs are worth it when they could reach the same goal with Litecoin
588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [BNT] BANCOR - Speculation & Discussion on: June 14, 2017, 05:28:46 PM
If Poloniex takes it 3-5x ICO price is very realistic but if its only bittrex and/or smaller exchanges then I think it will hover around ICO price since they are going to buy back a large number of tokens at ICO price if it drops.

I think we may see an evolution of price similar to BAT:

https://coinmarketcap.com/assets/basic-attention-token/

The distribution on BAT was stupid too. I guess the whales are going to hold until the price goes higher to dump. We may see the classic initial dump, then a slow climb, a pump and a dump.

If it goes directly into Poloniex there may be fireworks.

Poloniex does not accept trading coins this fast usually afaik, but this bang bancor just had might change their minds Smiley

Poloniex will accept anything that brings them a lot in trading fees. They will list it almost granted. If they listed stuff like Golem, then Bancor will go in too. I expect it to get listed soon and I can't wait to see how the market reacts. It's a gamble, but I think whales will instadump as usual, at least if its gets added right at the beginning.  If not then the instadump will happen in bittrex, then after a while it may be a good speculation.

Wall street is filled with idiots. If you believe they know more about bitcoin than you do, you are wrong. Im sure I know more about bitcoin than anyone on any of those hedge funds. They don't know shit about bitcoin, I don't care how fat their wallets are.

Anyway, they are welcome to join the boat with their $billions.
591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [BNT] BANCOR - Speculation & Discussion on: June 13, 2017, 05:16:50 PM
According to coindesk, this ICO has been the biggest ICO ever, so it's going to be either a success or a insane ass dump.

The token distribution is pretty ridiculous:

Quote
Overall, 79,323,978 Bancor network tokens (BNTs) were created as part of the ICO, with the top token holders now possessing 83.96% of the tokens, or 66,601,702 BNT. Fifty percent of the total tokens, or 39,661,989 BNT, were sold to the public, while the remaining 50% were allocated for future use.

But again: how can you call it cash when eventually the blocksize would be too big to cater for everyone complaining about fees being above $1?
If you want to keep fees under $1-5, which is when most people start complaining, advancements in technology will not catch up quick enough to not end up with datacenters running nodes. And once you reach that point, then it's game over because any global attacker can easily control the network. A perfect gov killswitch. Do we really want that?

seriously you gonna continue harping on with the now 3year old empty FUD script found on reddit.

have you actually noticed that 8mb is now deemed as safe compared to 2009

its devs that are holding things back, not tech
devs wanna push people into corporate hubs and offchain services so they can grab fee's

please do research that its not tech holding things back.. but devs

8MB deemed safe by who? Literally everyone worth listening in the space is against an 8MB blocksize. Everyone I know would drop their nodes because 8MB is simply too much fucking data to bother running a node.

Sorry, no blocksize increase for you. Better luck next time.
593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [BNT] BANCOR - Speculation & Discussion on: June 12, 2017, 05:31:22 PM
Biggest ICO ever is history

how much do you think the price will go ?

It all comes down to what price is going to be after the ICO buyers have a chance to dump on bigger fools.

Honestly I still don't get the point of Bancor. It seems like it's a way to create even more altcoins easily and all of them will have good liquidity by default. If this is going to work or not... we'll see.
594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: June 12, 2017, 04:56:21 PM
He doesn't need the money, have you seen how much he has? He's rolling in a Lambo, has bodyguards like a normal celebrity. Most of his fame didn't come from the fights, but the way he acts outside the ring. Charities, visiting fans at home, all that cocky talk and confidence that people love. He's set for life even if he quits now.

It's obvious that Mayweather doesn't need any money, but people have different standards of living. He is aiming to become a billionaire and own a basketball team Mark Cuban style. If you are ambitious there's no such thing as enough money. The guy is smart so he's calculated in his gambles, I guess he consider it safe to fight once again against Conor for a massive payday even tho his legacy is on the line.
595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin may not be number one for long on: June 12, 2017, 03:12:52 PM
That might be true. But I do not believe Ethereum will be able to hold their gains for long. Sooner or later the price has to go down simply because that is what markets do.

So always remind yourself not to get lost in the mania and try to stay objective. In a market like this, it is easy to think that the good days will never end.

Ethereum is under a massive bubble due the ongoing ICO frenzy where everyone wants to buy into the next %1000+ performer. They all need ETH to buy into those ICOs. The Bancor ICO is today so it's clear that this is helping into keeping ETH on the green while BTC dips and so do the rest of alts.
596  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: August 1st consideration and important unaswered questions on: June 12, 2017, 12:33:27 PM

2.  Even if UASF is supported by the community, if LN isn't ready I'm afraid from a practical point of view users will turn to a BU fork because of lower transaction costs even if they themselves think BU is a shit long term scaling solution. If you needed to send a $10 payment and had some money on an exchange, wouldn't you buy the BU coins with your BTC and initiate a $0 fee transfer instead of paying $5 in fees?

Why not just buy Litecoin and use that to transact? It's pretty stupid to trust your money with BU when the software has crashed so many times. LTC on the other hand is a BTC Core clone with segwit enabled, so I can't think of a better alternative right now in case things go south in august 1st.

In the case a 2-coin scenario... it's stupid to sell any side. No one knows what's going to happen. Im holding both so good luck with those that actually dump for whatever chain they think will survive.
597  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please, Stop Calling Bitcoin "Digital Gold" on: June 10, 2017, 06:30:10 PM
Yep, digital gold is a harmful (but clever) meme propagated by the malicious schemers from Blockstream.

Bitcoin has WAY WAY WAY too much competition to thrive with high fees when everyone else has low fees.

Because of the fact that there are endless alternatives (less crowded blockchains willing to compromise decentralization in order to allow cheaper and faster transactions by centralizing the nodes with huge blocksizes if needed) why turn bitcoin into that?

It seems clear to me that this is not good for holders.

I think Bitcoin look like as Gold (increasingly scarce) but it not look like as all. Bitcoin was created want can change old system payment in the World's (visa, banks, paypal, western union ...) and anti-inflation, it not want become to Digital Gold!
Bitcoin want anyone can use it, no distinction poor or rich people, noobs or clever ...

you miss the point...its first and foremost DIGITAL CASH -- that is what gives the value to the gold like property.

But again: how can you call it cash when eventually the blocksize would be too big to cater for everyone complaining about fees being above $1?

Mayweather is back in the gym, some footage:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4aDwsQ5hn0

I doubt Mayweather would bother to put his globes on unless he was going to fight. This is further proof that he is keeping himself active for the potential fight. I think the fight will happen this year, or May 2018 since the Canelo-GGG fight is scheluded for September and Mayweather only fights in May or September.
599  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 212: Aldo vs Holloway Info and Prediction Thread on: June 10, 2017, 02:28:20 PM
@freeyourmind. I do not think Dana White is only like an employee now. He still has an interest of 9% of profits made by the company. He also still runs the show and has the power to make the decisions on matchmaking and other deals.

Yeah you're right.  I know he sold his 9% share, but didn't know he still received 9% of future profits without that share in the company.  I stand corrected.

Although he definitely has different objectives, so it's not him totally running the show.  The UFC is run very differently before and after the sale.  It's about max viewership now, so fighters that are skilled and not the most popular, don't really get many opportunities.  We can see the behaviour of fighters changing, and artificially talking shit and being their own version of Conor to try and get some attention and viewership.

Im pretty sure White is very well off and retired for life, he will keep getting dividends from the company. I only see the UFC going higher and eventually will be able to get massive paydays for the fighters boxing style.

It depends on how good the fights are, it all comes down to that. If they give us the fights we want it will be a success.

He was supposed to get 360 million for selling his share to WME, and he was likely quite well off even before the sale.  Without having a well run fighters union OR legit competition in MMA, they pay isn't going to be like boxing.  Bellator would need to grow some more and directly compete with the UFC as a premiere organization, and then maybe they'll need to bid the price up on fighters.  Right now, unless you're one of the top handful of fighters/champions, you're probably not breaking 200k per fight.

Boxing has a very long legendary history as a sport. Give UFC some time. In a couple of decades it will be a more established sport with big paydays. It looks like all the kids are getting into MMA, so I would say MMA interest is growing more than boxing and at the end of the day all of these kids are the future UFC ticket buyers. In a couple of generations MMA will be consistently making more numbers than boxing, even tho I like boxing more but that's how it is.

That is of course unless boxing can create new big personalities with great talent that draw millions of people to tune in like Ali, Tyson, Floyd etc.

The Josua-Kltischko fight was exciting, I didn't felt that in a long time in the HW division so I hope I can see more of that.
600  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 09, 2017, 04:03:58 PM
Scenario:
Apocalypse happens,

So tired of people claiming gold and silver are only useful during a zombie apocalypse.  The last time I checked, the percent of time metals are used as money is about 4 billion times higher on normal afternoons than mad max scenarios.  As for why everything except silver and gold are trash:

The real question is, why would anyone use such a thing over gold and silver?  It's blatantly obvious no cryptocurrency is an actual store of value.  How could such a thing be that doesn't even exist in the first place?  That's why it has the word "currency" in the name cryptocurrency and not "money".  All currencies are inherently worthless and go to zero on a long enough timeline, while only gold and silver remains.  Since money is a zero sum game, allowing anyone to pretend to be god and act as a central banker issuing currency for profit is a master and slave dynamic.  Hence anyone not using gold and silver is a slave.

Bitcoin kind of tricked people into thinking it replicated those dynamics of gold and silver, but in reality it's designed to centralize into a rent seeking usury system controlled by mining cartels, and those are the new central bankers.  So the fact still remains, anyone not using gold and silver is a slave.

This was already addressed here:

Guys like you always lose. You will spend your life fruitless i know people like you. Stuck in their ways cant see the market. Dont try to make the market do what you want do what the market wants. Gold is hopeless.. it was left behind for a reason. Commodities are headed back to utility value and under that to test miner resolve. After that we will see black swan which will send it to some nice lows. Then we will see.

What a load of shit.  A "black swan" to send metals to "nice lows" HAHA.  The only black swan capable of doing anything to metals is a black hole swallowing the earth.  Meanwhile, there's about 1 million black swans that can destroy bitcoin.  So many liars in this thread claiming bitcoin is a more sound monetary system.  Anonymint has also jumped on the lying bandwagon where he used to parrot Armstrong's claim that the purpose of metals are "a hedge against government", then he started claiming cryptocurrency is better than metals except cryptocurrency provides no hedge against government whatsoever.  Cryptocurrency is a massive counter party risk to government.  You're using the governments infrastructure to even use it for fucks sake.  So by his own definition there is no purpose to cryptocurrency.

This doesn't seem like a good hedge against government. Sure laws are laws and they are there to be (or not) followed, so you could hide your shit, but it's still there somewhere and they can find it.

If you hide a bitcoin wallet inside an encrypted hidden volume you can claim plausible deniability. So gold being a physical thing (that so many goldbugs love because "if you can't touch it then it's useless") is its greatest mistake.

Also have fun trying to cross any borders carrying gold. Tbh gold is useless in a post-encryption environment. Sure, there's a lot of problems that come with using something like bitcoin, but overall it beats gold as "a hedge against government" in my book.

If bitcoin forks tho, and we get 2 fucking coins... then yeah, it probably failed as a store of value, but it's doing good so far.

All currencies are inherently worthless and go to zero on a long enough timeline, while only gold and silver remains.

You know what else goes to zero on a long enough timeline? your life, all billionaire's lives and their power delusions, all money, and eventually the universe itself.
