5861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be AWARE. Mobile payment is coming our way. on: March 05, 2018, 07:22:16 AM
Do you like the idea of paying using your mobile phone? What if it is Bitcoin? Can you track your daily expenses with the price changing every minute? Do you think this will be a good idea to give your child his/her allowance? What if the price went down fast in a sec? Will you use it while in a down price or will you choose to forget about buying your stuff instead of making a transaction with your funds in a low market price?
Paying using our mobile phones? Ask Paypal.
What if it is Bitcoin? Well there's Coins available for Asian Countries.

Since it started, I've been using its online payment service to pay my electric, water and internet bills without wasting time to fall in line to their counters.
The volatility thought, if the price gets too wild like UP/DOWN $1000 a day, I prefer to keep and convert my funds there as BTC or Fiat depending on the flow in the market.
The wallet works like a mini exchange that is easy to utilize for extra profit without sending the funds back to exchange/wallet.

If this is too new for you, you're looking at the wrong direction.

5863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Here are the basics on how to be a crypto coin miner and how to get started on: March 05, 2018, 05:46:57 AM
I'm expecting a "for newbie" steps but it was just another mining article.
I guess that's one way to advertise the site and its contents.

BTW, you forgot to font-weight: bold "Mining Hardware:Wink
5864  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Use Electrum while testing on localhost on: March 04, 2018, 07:43:53 AM
Electrum wallet needs to connect to their remote nodes before you can send payments, your addresses can receive funds however, it will not be updated while offline.
This thread should be moved to Development & Technical Discussion > Electrum where it belongs and for more technical answers.

FYI, there is a blue "move topic" button just below the webpage.
5865  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum - Newly installed but i had an old one on: March 04, 2018, 06:34:28 AM
You misunderstood. I mean i don't know how to put the screenshot here. I don't mean i don't know how to make the screenshot.
Lol, sorry.
Read this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2958771.0 for information about posting images.
But since that's a newbie account, use links instead.

5866  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum - Newly installed but i had an old one on: March 04, 2018, 05:34:11 AM
I don't how to show you the screenshot. I can tell you that  below Data Description Amount Balance, it is blank.
If your Laptop is windows:
  • Hold Ctrl+PrintScreen to copy the whole screen then
  • Create a new image to the desktop. Right Click on the Desktop>New>Bitmap Image.
  • Right Click the blank image>Edit then Ctrl+V to paste the Screenshot Image (crop it if you want).
  • Click "Save As" and save it as a jpg image.

If it is Windows 8/10, doing a screenshot is much simpler. Hit WindowsButton+PrintScreen. The image will be saved in *User>Pictures>Screenshot Folder.
5867  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Recommendations in launching a Solar energy Initial Coin Ofering on: March 04, 2018, 03:55:06 AM
I have seen something like this last October 2017, that was Earth Token.
If you want something to review, look at their developments and downsides.

That said ICO, was an ERC20 token from etherium network, while they offer non-mineable tokens for their investors, the offered service was renewable power source for mining which doesn't makes sense for a non-mineable coin.
The idea itself is good for "Rentable Hashes" but not as a tradable reward units called "tokens".

Undoubtedly, it's hard to establish something started from an ICO.
5868  Other / Meta / Re: 14 merit bonus for quality users [Jr to Sr. Member] on: March 03, 2018, 06:36:27 AM
It's been 2 weeks since I received my last merit, here's the link to my last 20 shitposts.
Actually, there are more "meritable" posts I made in the Project Development and Technical Discussion boards than in the Altcoin Mining section.
5869  Other / Meta / Re: Copper Member - Enable Avatars for Junior and Members. on: March 03, 2018, 06:20:55 AM
This concludes that enabling avatar for copper members will complicate the current "bounty reward system" and signature campaigns.
Currently, it's not an option even for cosmetic reasons.

I'm locking this thread for now.
5870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Used Gpus temps questions on: March 03, 2018, 05:58:21 AM
Are those GPUs the same model or assorted?
Because there are some GPU that can really reach beyond 80°C.

If you can tell more information, we might find out what's the problem.
like:
  • GPU Models
  • Mining Area Temperature
  • Installed BIOS by the seller
  • Default BIOS you re-flashed
5871  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: If i type my bc1(bech32) address in any blockchain explorer i can't see nothing. on: March 03, 2018, 05:42:02 AM
For the sake of accessibility, why does the very own bitcoin site bitcoin.org didn't have its own official block explorer?
Sites like bitcoin.com have that feature and newbies might trust that site more than the official one.

By the way, https://live.blockcypher.com/ doesn't support bech32 addresses too.
5872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Problems with mining rig on: March 03, 2018, 04:19:25 AM
Chrome displays a warning to your link so I archived it for everyone to view: https://archive.is/zHbok
So this is your PSU: https://www.aerocool.com.tw/en/psu/kcas/kcas-750m

Sure it can deliver enough power to each of the 2 GPU.
There must be something wrong with the connections.

It could be that this PSU needs some +5v load to operate properly.
This doesn't makes sense, a total of 100W from 5v is enough to power any high end rigs.
5873  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help! Electrum wallet file is corrupted. on: March 02, 2018, 11:18:12 AM
What I would do:
1. Download from the official page (https://electrum.org/#download) the portable version of Electrum.
2. Copy that one exe into a new folder
3. Start, from that new folder, Electrum portable, make a new wallet, but make sure the file is not named wallet_file. Let's name it dummy_test_wallet.
4. Stop Electrum, go to that new folder\electrum_data\wallets and copy there your wallet_file (only one file)
5. Start Electrum. Yes, it will open the dummy_test_wallet, don't worry.
6. In Electrum go to File->Open and open your wallet_file

This should open a new instance of Electrum with your very old wallet.

Edit: make sure your computer is safe of viruses, keyloggers and other surprises, 1.5 BTC is quite some money.
He can't do that because the wallet file is corrupted.

Nice steps tutorial though.
Perhaps you can make an infographic from it for newbies who doesn't know how to restore/transfer electrum wallets from other devices.
Or can I use it if I have the time to make one?
5874  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Decentralized Exchange possible on mobile devices? on: March 02, 2018, 11:02:36 AM
How can we trust a decentralized chain with "self removing temporary entries"?
Exchanges were centralized due to its own nature. A chain that does "that" can't be possible.

Full nodes will always be required for a decentralized chain, it will bloat twice as much as a regular blockchain due to thousands of transactions will happen in an exchange.
The difficulty can be throttled to generate blocks faster but this will speed up the full node size increase rate.
It can be slowed down but it will result in stuck transactions.
Remove the entries? How can this be called decentralized in the first place?

Can that DeX manage to find a way around or an alternative "decentralized" way?
5875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Problems with mining rig on: March 02, 2018, 10:20:52 AM
If you have connected all as in the picture you have posted:
-Power only 1 gpu with 1 pcie cable from the psu
-Try to use only 1 sata cable for 1 riser or if you have enough free pcie cables, connect the riser without the 6pin to sata adapter
The first statement wont help him.
  • Read his setup: CASE 2, he already tried all the three PSUs with one card and it's working.

@Eronimo You might want to tell us the PSU's brand and model.
5876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I started my small farm in Egypt on: March 02, 2018, 05:39:13 AM
Why Egypt? Isnt keeping your farm cool going to be a major problem??

All cards are with 3 fans working at 40 % till now. Temperature is below 70 c for gpus. in the next month i will start the air conditioning to keep it around this.

why egypt? there is something wrong in electricity here. If you have a building under construction ( It take many years for buildings here to be available for housing because the whole country is investing in real estate) you can apply for fixed electricity of 2150 EGP monthly no matter how much you consume.

i will provide photos next week.
Fixed rate power bill for an under-construction building sounds nice but something like this might not last if more people will misuse it.
There's really something wrong with them, is their electric service provider private?

Using unlimited unwatched power supply to power two ACs, whoa Shocked Just take care and watch the air's humidity.

They're not currently because they obviously cannot have them but this would soon change once they are in fact allowed to via purchasing copper membership.
This makes sense.
Copper Membership is just meant to be a bare bones status that is essentially just a way to automatically white-list yourself and give you some of the privileges that have been taken away from Newbies. I would only support avatars being enabled in any additional higher ranks such as Silver or Gold as I have suggested previously.
I'm seeing links from Jr Members with copper membership's signatures which is way beyond the initial purpose of the perk.
Then, here's an alternative, "Copper Member" should be removed after reaching the next rank: Jr. Member.
5878  Other / Meta / Re: Copper Member - Enable Avatars for Junior and Members. on: March 01, 2018, 11:40:43 AM
You do realize if Copper members could wear avatars.. they would be required to for higher staking grants.. right?
The signatures will still be the same boring no-color texts and links, managers wont grant higher reward for an avatar worn by a junior or member.
It's up to them if they can request a higher bounty from the campaign manager.
I think that Copper Member is only useful for Newbie account who want to launch their project.
Yes, as I said in the 1st line of the OP. Admins can take that as a suggestion too: "remove the title after ranking up to Jr".
I do not think this is a good solution. Because the avatar is also representative of the bonus campaign and it will reward you for participation. If you open a free avatar, the bounty program will no longer reward that job. We need active people on the forum not only to earn bonuses but also because actively contribute to the forum anymore.
In my opinion, the management should specify how to increase the level. Because new entrants can not have deep knowledge, they are easily discouraged.
thankyou
This is not a solution, it's a suggestion.
Bounties? I rarely see a copper member signature campaigner, adding another perk (stakes) for them would be a hassle for campaign managers.
I think that the reason why most people wish to raise rank is because it is due to the participation qualification of some coins, so I think that "Copper Member" itself has almost no value.
"Copper Member" can not qualify for participation, like "Newbie" and "Jr.Member". Sad

I think that it would be better to get "Merit" by donation.
What are you saying?
Seriously, did you really read the OP?
5879  Other / Meta / Copper Member - Enable Avatars for Junior and Members. on: March 01, 2018, 06:02:58 AM
Since the Copper Membership is only useful for a Newbie, the title must be removed from them once they reached Junior Membership.
But No, members like that special feeling whenever they see that "Copper Member" tag on their names.
Some Seniors and Legendary had actually bought the title just for fun. So here's a proposal:

Make some adjustments to the Copper Member's account restrictions for Junior to Members to enable Avatars.

Some Reasons:
  • It's easier for anyone to be well known with an avatar.
  • Post are more likely to be noticed if a user have an avatar.
  • With the merit system, members who are dying to show their personal avatars will have to wait a little bit longer to reach the rank that enables them to upload it.
  • Lastly, Junior Members and Members aren't required to wear an avatar in SigCampaigs. So, keep those "it will be used for campaigns" replies away please.

Thank you.
5880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I'm mining for 4 days. on: March 01, 2018, 05:04:30 AM
Ouch, you bought your 1080ti at the worst timing. It will take years to reach ROI with that price.

Perhaps, since you only got 1 GPU for mining, why don't you start with Nicehash (that's the best place to start for newbies) to earn Bitcoins which can be used to buy another coin or cashout to buy your second GPU (secondhand).

However, $1,200 for a ($700) GPU is a bad deal.
