5881  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Is it worth collecting old ASIC miners? on: May 16, 2022, 07:10:39 PM
i still have my Jalapeno on my computer desk, next to my old Mike Casascious coin from 2011, what a golden era of discovery. And btw butterfly maybe finish as scam but sure they make this miners hardcore badass this one still works, connects and mine  Cheesy there is a quality diff between this and some of the chinese asic of this days.

They were making the best miners available back then. A shame that they were run by idiots who couldn’t manage a lemonade stand. If they had a CFO with half a brain they could be the biggest entity in crypto right now. Instead they’re a reminder of how you can’t trust people. Even those with the best tech. They lied, incompetently managed customer funds, and in the end failed to deliver anything to many people. I think they still owe me a few hundred BTC in unsent refunds. The last update I heard on the subject was that they were picking and choosing which accounts to refund, basically paying back their friends and screwing everyone else. The only member of this community that was keeping any heat on them was Bruno, and he’s no longer with us, so it seems likely that the folks who perpetrated this scam walked away with a ton of money and won’t ever be fully held accountable for the damage they caused so many.
5882  Economy / Speculation / Re: [POLL] Will Bitcoin dip below $40K? on: May 16, 2022, 06:44:25 PM
Seems like the market is fighting to keep it's head above water.  The $40K line appears to be holding fairly well.  We even seem to be in a consolidation phase now, which in the past has meant that an upward move is in the cards soon.  I think every day we stay above $40K, the odds of it falling lower are reduced.  At least until the mtgox coins hit the market and/or the ETH 2.0 upgrade unleashes billions of dollars in staked ETH back onto the market.  I find it a little hard to believe those events won't cause a massive reduction in market price of the entire crypto market, but we'll see.  Maybe spot ETFs will be approved in the US around that time to help suck up the excess liquidity.

The scary part isn’t that we went under $40K, the scary part is that the reason why wasn’t because of either upcoming event that I mentioned above. The ETH2 upgrade is going to flood the market with ETH that is highly in the profit (lots will cash out), and the mtgox coins still haven’t been distributed. When they are, we will have double the sales pressure we just saw from the Luna Foundation Guard. Hopefully we have an ETF in place before then or things could get messy. I will still not be surprised if we see a $10K Bitcoin, but I’m hoping we don’t ever fall below the 2017 high because that would be a catastrophic change in the fractal pattern we’ve come to know and love.
5883  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Western Conference Finals (Warriors vs Suns/Mavericks) on: May 16, 2022, 06:38:56 PM
You can remove the Suns from this subject now… I can’t believe the way that Luka exposed them… Booker was talking a whole lot and in the end proved that Luka was the better player. I’m still in shock because I don’t think Dallas has a very good team. Now that the Suns, 76ers, Nets, & Bucks are out, with the Lakers and Hornets not making the playoffs, the Warriors are really the last exciting team to watch now. I hope they show their dynasty is still intact and go all the way. I don’t think any of the other teams deserve it.
5884  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] My Casascius Collection on: May 15, 2022, 11:38:49 PM
Holy shit, this makes me feel like ive wasted my life.

I know you’re kidding, but I’d just like to ask, if these were sitting in your safe deposit box instead of mine, would you really feel your life was any different?

I say the value is 34k. Im guessing the to good to refuse pice is 58k. What i want to know is. What was the lowest price you received? Truly a spectacular coin. One youll probably never see again. I feel like i owe you money for looking at it.

The first look is free. If you reload the image or stare at it for longer than 2 minutes then it’s suggested to make a donation to the curator’s address: 168WXhArv7Fasqvi2xm5MQMfLhG18jifMe & if you right click save it you’ll be hearing from my NFT attorney!  Cheesy

The lowest offer I’ve received for it I believe was something around $3,500 and when I politely declined I was called names and told that I’m lucky someone offered above spot for it. Smiley
5885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: May 15, 2022, 09:57:24 PM
Ya, the Celtics have this one wrapped up. I guess the Middleton injury ended up too much for them to overcome. A shame because I’m not looking forward to watching the Heat and Celtics at all. A shame that both teams made it as far as they did because of injuries. I think we all know that a healthy Embiid and Middleton would’ve made the Conference Finals matchup the 76ers vs Bucks. I hate that the NBA Finals championship is turning into an award for the team that can stay the healthiest. It’s no wonder they call so many fouls in the NBA now. They need to make the schedule less demanding or something so the best team can start winning championships.
5886  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] My Casascius Collection on: May 15, 2022, 08:27:11 PM
If someone asked you for the price of the 1000 Bitcoin coin, what do you think would be a fair price, I always wondered how much such a coin could be worth.

I have no idea. I’m not interested in fair prices. I’m only interested in offers that are so good I can’t refuse them. I think the highest offer I’ve rejected for it was around $30,000. It should also be noted that the coin is not loaded. If it were loaded, I don’t think a fair price could exist for it as it’s got to be the one of the most highly prized collectibles in crypto. I’ll also mention that I’ve gotten quite a few offers that mention the spot price of gold Cheesy in their offer which I have a tendency to ignore and then receive hate messages for not negotiating. Anyway, enjoy the pics. They’re all I get to see of them too, so it’s kinda like they’re all of ours, we just keep them at my bank.
5887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: May 15, 2022, 07:02:13 PM
Definitely going to be a great day for basketball.  2x game 7's...  That doesn't happen all the time.  2 teams are going to have their season ended tonight, while 2 others are 1 step away from reaching the Finals.  We're a half hour away from tip off, and I'm here posting about the excitement instead of running errands to get ready for the game!

Hope everyone has a great day watching what will be one of the most exciting basketball days of the year.  As for my predictions, I'm going with the Bucks and Suns.  I think Giannis is going to carry the Bucks to the Finals, and this is just another step along the way.  As for the Suns game...  I'm hoping they finally figured out how to stop Luka, as they have clearly lost the momentum in the series.

How’d he know?  Huh

It's this feeling I get and I've learned to trust it throughout my life

Hey, go with whatever method works for you.  Smiley

There's no examples of me predicting a win and losing, though. Tongue

Thank you for hosting the raffle OG and thanks for buying me a nice new coin, PreciousMetapsICT; it's been fun.

Yes, thanks to PreciousMetapsICT for paying and thanks to everyone else for playing.  Smiley

It was fun, interesting, and leaves me wondering...  Who's ready for the next one?  Do we want a different prize?  Any other twists?  Maybe a few losers and 1 winner of a more expensive prize?

5891  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] My Casascius Collection on: May 14, 2022, 10:17:01 PM
The 0.5 BTC brass Casascius coin has been sold. It is no longer a part of this collection and has a new owner. I figured I should post this update in the event people were still watching this thread.

As a result of this sale, I’m willing to sell the remainder of the brass coins individually also, but for now the silver series coins are sticking together (unless I receive an offer I can’t refuse).

I’ve also gotten a few inquiries on the gold 1,000 BTC coin, but nothing within the realm of consideration. Please do not be offended if I ignore offers that aren’t within consideration.
5892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Luna holders will get new token. on: May 14, 2022, 08:33:22 PM
It is always so tempting for new investors to try and catch a falling knife or look to profit from the Phoenix flying out of the ashes of a dead project.  However, Luna was a failure for a reason.  It was never going to succeed because it had a faulty structure behind it.  Sure, people may hop in and ride the dead cat bounces to a little profit, but the damage done to the ecosystem is enough that no serious money will ever touch Luna again.  If there is another pump in price, it will be so the billionaires can recoup some of their losses by dumping on the quick profit chasers.  Don't fall for it.  If you insist on jumping into this swap, don't stay long enough to acclimate yourself.
5893  Economy / Speculation / Re: Was $25K the bottom? on: May 14, 2022, 08:27:51 PM
I'm still struggling to see how a crypto winter is coming, I already feel like we've been in one for 12 months already. Either that, or price will have to go significantly lower or in order to shake out strong hands.

You've been around long enough...  Don't you remember when the crash from $20K to $6K happened and then it bounced back above $10K and everyone said the bear market was behind us?  Then we fell to $3K and sat there for a long time.  While you can see clear signs of capitulation a few days ago, I think that was a clear bottom in the short term.  Longer term, I think we have lower to go.  Scarily, the major support level does seem to be around $10K, so if we're still mirroring the 4-year cycles of past, I would expect a revisit to $10K sometime over the next year.  Not saying it's set in stone as I don't think we've ever seen this market fall below the previous cycle's high.  You can see from the NASDAQ leaders that market leaders have fallen as much as 80% in some situations.  Altcoins are down similarly in that period.  So I understand the argument that we've hit bottom already.  My question to the people who make that argument...  Do you really think it's different this time?
5894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk won't save Doge or Bitcoin this time on: May 14, 2022, 08:20:31 PM
I think Elon is actually in a position to now be the biggest supporter of crypto in the ecosystem.  It seems pretty obvious that he's going to implement Dogecoin tipping on Twitter in some fashion.  I'm sure that will be a massive positive for the Doge community and will get plenty of new eyes on the cryptocurrency.

In addition to his latest purchase helping grow the value of Dogecoin, you can't forget he also owns Tesla and that they not only own a ton of Bitcoin, but Elon has said when he's comfortable with renewable energy aspect of Bitcoin mining, Tesla will begin accepting Bitcoin for it's cars again.  This would be a massive positive for Bitcoin and if Tesla really did hold all the Bitcoin it took in, I'm sure it would send us to new highs.

Y'all can hate Elon if you want to, but if you're in Bitcoin for the money, he's probably your best bet at making a massive gain from this point.  That and the ETF becoming a reality.
5895  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] FutureBit Apollo BTC Miner (sold out on their website) on: May 14, 2022, 08:15:57 PM
Price dropped again...  With these being sold out so fast on the website there's clearly demand for them.  The cheapest one is selling on eBay currently for $900...  I'd rather deal in straight crypto but there's a lot of room in there for profit if someone wanted to take a risk and try to resell this for dollars on eBay or wherever people are selling things online these days.  I have multiple of them, which is why I'm selling one.  There's nothing wrong with it or anything.  Let me know if anyone has any questions.

BTC to the moon!
5896  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: May 14, 2022, 07:49:45 PM
We're getting very near the end of the 2022 season.   Cry

Now we're subjected to days off with no games and looking at the potential outcomes.  The Mavericks are making the Suns work to get to the next round.  Now with both teams facing elimination, you can expect game 7 to be a heated and chippy matchup that will probably be dangerous for the players out there.  I hope the game ends without any injuries or suspensions, but I have my doubts.  Luka and Booker seem to have a legitimate beef now and none of the guys out there are going to want to call it the end of their season.  I feel like regardless of what happens tomorrow night, it's going to be the Warriors/Bucks in the finals, but so far the Warriors are the only sure thing for the conference finals.
5897  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 14, 2022, 07:46:03 PM
Looking at the chart, you can see clear signs of capitulation around the $26K level.  We then immediately saw a dead cat bounce up above $30K.  Personally, I'd like to see another volume spike during a selloff at a higher rate than $26K before I feel like we're out of the woods.  Right now, it still appears we are in a downtrend and so it's this high volume confirmation at a higher low that would signal to me that the market has changed direction.  We are very much still in a bear market that is dropping pretty quickly.  Buying here is that high risk high reward level where you're taking a leap of faith.  I'm not sure I'd want to jump in now, but if we do see that higher low confirmation on a volume spike it would signal that it's time (at least for the traders).

5899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Death of Etheruem mining - Predicitions on: May 13, 2022, 07:50:59 PM
I will reword it a bit. :
they make a statement like the one below

“In light of the damage caused by the luna/ust debacle We at eth have decided to postpone the transition from pow to pos until The market stability comes back.

The entire crypto cap has dropped from 2.1 trillion to 1.3 trillion due to the damage caused by luna/ust.

We at eth a responsible organization that truly believes in the synergy of crypto currency as a wholistic group of coins realize that bad actors can rock the boat.

We will assess  when the best time to switch to pos has arrived. This means watching and seeing how the entire market survives the idiocy of luna/ust. “

yada yada yada. bla bla bla.

below is my opinion

The down side of a switch to pos and a following super crash.

Out weighs any upside for eth switching to pos.

I see no reason that eth pos is better than  luna/ust

and it will very likely do exactly what luna/ust just did.

I'd have to say that your opinion sounds like it's coming from someone who is mining ETH right now.  Smiley

I don't see how switching to PoS relates ETH to Luna/UST.  The issues are so far apart I'm surprised you'd make that connection.  While PoS certainly sucks and ETH will be weaker as a result, comparing it to the obvious collapse of a ponzi scheme is a bit far fetched.  More likely ETH will begin to lose market share as miners move on to the next shiny thing to make a profit from.  I do think people will be a bit shocked when they realize that ETH got a lot of it's value from giving away coins to miners who then supported the infrastructure to add value to their mining rewards.  There's a lot of hardware out there that will be looking for work, literally...  Ravencoin to the moon?
5900  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would bitcoin difficulty adjustment work in reduced energy environment? on: May 13, 2022, 07:45:50 PM
What if energy reqd to mine\verify transactions is greatly reduced by authorities. The electricity consumption is also reduced, how would then bitcoin eco system work?

The same way it does now.   Huh

Electricity consumption for miners has ALWAYS been reduced throughout Bitcoin's history.  This results in a higher hashrate and more security for the network.

From your question, it sounds like you mean to ask what would happen if hashrate decreases.  That answer is already given above, the network difficulty is reduced after the ~2 week period and the network keeps on going.  This has happened before many times throughout Bitcoin's history as well.  It's never been a problem or allowed attacks on the ecosystem.  It's how the system is designed to function.
