This topic again?? I think the question about merit has been asked and answered hundreds of time. Well, I'd save my breath answering this question.

Here, my ultimate merit recipe https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4932316.0
5982  Other / Meta / Re: Altcoin Discussion section can change name to Trash discussion on: August 22, 2018, 01:41:13 AM
Most of the topics there need to be archived/locked or removed entirely. The discussion has long come to an end, but its easy for bounty participants to add a generic post in the thread, and get paid for it. The underlying issue is how easy it is to make an account, and start making money through bounties, because of the low standards of acceptance from altcoins.
It's nice to see you as a staff mate. Indeed, the problem is that bounty managers weren't professional. They accept spammers and don't really care about the quality. They only care about quantity. I think we've made progress since Lord Theymos approved this suggestion:

Quote
• Enforce the sig campaign guidelines. If a campaign is spotted that is doing little to nothing and is abused en mass by spammers, farmers, bots and copy and pasters they are warned. If nothing changes then they are punished with such things as bans, threads trashed, signatures blacklisted site-wide etc.
5983  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie's Guide to Getting Merit (Proven) on: August 21, 2018, 01:24:43 PM
<...>
Your post has nothing new.
There is no relevance between signature bounty and increasing knowledge. These are two completely different things.
Then why you still shitposting if you already know? It must be easy for you to create 10 posts a week. *cough

<...>
Oh, I remember your post. I've put it on "suggested reading."

<...>
Why don't you post something useful instead of this merit fapping? As for newbie here, merit is useful only for signature campaign. Don't feel obliged to get a merit, your post quality (and learning) is more important.
Thanks for your positive attitude even though I've called you a merit fapper *lol
But really mate, there are so many things to write. Don't just write about merit and post only on Meta.
Go here Grin https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=6.0

<...>Might be the case that some others have posted something about similar topics, but especially for Newbies in this forum, just like me, it takes forever to find such information, hence it's very useful to find such posts again<...>
I thought I added something new and valuable here... Oh well, your welcome mate.
5984  Other / Beginners & Help / Newbie's Guide to Getting Merit (Proven) on: August 21, 2018, 08:39:21 AM
First of all, I started with 0 merits, 0 friends, non-native English speaker, average IQ, and this is my first and my only active account on the bitcointalk forum. If you are searching for the ultimate average Joe newbie who can get some merit, I'm one of them.

#1 The Attitude
In my opinion, this is the most important quality if you join a new forum or a new community. Your attitude here cannot be just asking, begging, and seek profit for yourself. You need to give something to the BTT community to get "gratuities" in the form of merit point.

Because this is a forum for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, you need to have a decent knowledge before you can make a meaningful post. Your attitude should be "read more and write less," doesn't matter how smart you were in your little pond. Most of the time, you are dumb. This is a place where a newbie can read posts created by satoshi, gmaxwell, Gavin Andresen, and many more bitcoin guru.

Because this forum currently full of spam and scam, as a newbie, there is a high probability that you will experience insult and some hostility from some high-rank member. Just don't get butthurt and move on with your learning process. Many high-rank members are a "filthy rich" millionaire and a bitcoin guru, so actually, it's better to get a response from them, instead of nothing like in our everyday real-life.

#2 Posting a New Reply
Before you post a reply on a topic, you should follow the discussion, not only read the OP's post but also until last post reply. Most of the time, someone already wrote what you're going to write so don't repeat it. Remember "read more and write less."

Don't reply on a spam topic i.e. topic with little or no new meaningful information. If you have read a lot of topics, you will see that topics like "top altcoin," "bitcoin price," "bitcoin vs fiat," etc., have been created (and answered) multiple times. You want to avoid replying on this "megathread."

When you find a good topic and you can give a meaningful valid reply, then take your time, don't just post short (one-liner) reply without full information. It's not that you have to expand your sentence to get a longer text, but just give clear and concise full information.

Don't claim other work as your work, note that plagiarism will result in a permanent ban. You must give a correct citation if you want to insert a quote from another writer.

#3 Posting a New Topic
Before you create a new topic, you must use the search button and/or google site search. Use
Code:
keyword site:bitcointalk.org
Just don't create a duplicate post if you don't have new information to share. As a newbie, actually you will rarely need to create your own topic.

Merit can be earned anywhere including your local board. If you have a limited English like me, consider creating a good quality topic on your local board. It's easier to write a good quality topic on the local board because not many papers were translated/reworked and discussed in the local language.

You don't need fancy style or heavy formatting to create a good post, let your writing speak for itself. You can also create your own bitcoin guide to help local member learn about bitcoin in a serial post. See my local learning thread, for example, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4459504.0 on this thread I use self-moderation to remove spam to keep clean of my "classroom."

#4 Make Friends (and Enemies)
When you participate in the effort of making this forum better, you'll naturally attract other good members to become your friend, or at least frequently interact with them. However, you also attract other shitposters, spammers, and fellow "newbies who don't get it" to hate you. Related to this spammers, you have two options: become a cunt or become a Dalai Lama. It's your personal choice.

#5 THE Bounty
I regret my decision on joining signature campaign bounty. At first, 10 posts a week seems like nothing. But it will hinder your further learning development. 10 Serious posts in a week is a lot of work! Yes, it's nothing if you are shitposting and not implement my suggestion from #2 and #3. I consider taking a break on sigcamp for at least a month or two after this campaign end. I think the article campaign is more suitable for me. Now I know why the signature campaign participant often being called as shitposter.

As a closure, I didn't create this topic as a way of merit fishing as I'm also annoyed by merit fishers on the Meta board. I'm pretty confident that my posting behavior and my attitude will earn me merits in the future. I think this is the first and the last time I ever post a new topic about merit. Anyway, if you find this post helpful, please consider donating to World Wide Fund for Nature. See ya~

PS: Feel free to point out my grammar errors in this topic, and I'm more than happy to fix it.

Message from The Don:
about quoting the whole post when not needed - that gets people put on ignore lists.
Don't quote the whole post when not needed, guys. You will only need to click the "reply" button for most cases.
Respect other readers! They will find it really annoying to scroll down the quoted full post, only to find your one paragraph comment.

<...>
Now, I would like to share something about myself and my journey in this scary wonderful place that this forum and community is (and it is AMAZING hehe)
I have been a member on the forum for a year now, and have educated myself and gathered knowledge on the same forum for a few years now. I may have been taking my sweet time with posting on topics and replies, but I thought at the time that the issues were already addressed (as I like to read back quite a bit) or my opinion wasn't valid or helpful enough to warrant a post from me. Hence, I am a 1 year member with a Newbie account with 5 posts (6 posts, this one included) and no merit - AND THIS IS FINE. I wouldn't have it any other way. Why?

Well, the answer to this question is simple - I have learned so much and have grown as an investor and supporter of crypto projects, that in my mind I am the one who has benefited so much and have given back to the community so little, it shames me. But yeah, I completely agree with "read more write less" and would add "don't say anything if you have nothing to say" (informative or constructive, with a brief explanation as to why), and have been following this rule as a general principal in life.

Following these principals, I can now say that I have the knowledge and know-how (still have a lot to learn though) to be able to take over and revive a cryptocurrency project and make it grow, flourish and succeed, because I believe its the right thing to do (lazy devs, didnt want to make an effort and didnt want to do the work)......
And before I go off topic here, just wanted to give a sincere thank you to the OP for sharing his journey with us, and making an effort to help out the new forum members on how to properly and sincerely become part of the amazing crypto community we have

<...>

1-3: Belum ada informasi baru
4: +1
5-13: Belum ada informasi baru

Secara keseluruhan kualitas pos agan lumayan, cuma sebagian besar masih bersifat pengetahuan umum (generik).

Mohon Review nya untuk post post Ane Gan.
<...>

BIP-141/173: Segregated Witness (SegWit)

BIP-141 menjelaskan lapisan konsensus SegWit
BIP-173 menjelaskan format alamat Bech32

Prolog

1. Format alamat
Pay to Public Key Hash (P2PKH) >> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4459504.msg39933979#msg39933979

2. Mekanisme pembuatan privkey-pubkey
Random (nondeterministik) >> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4459504.msg39933979#msg39933979
Deterministik >> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4459504.msg41403564#msg41403564 & https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4459504.msg43552511#msg43552511

Format Alamat SegWit Pay to Witness Public Key Hash (P2WPKH): P2SH-P2WPKH, Bech32-P2WPKH

3. HASH-160 dari script hash no 2
SHA-256:
Code:
861b2e6d0ab3548edd1334c3af000adf3d681890692de425e1c33b31e443133a
RIPEMD-160:
Code:
631b88dde960d66d7fa7ea2a3c1c084297143ba0

4. Tambahkan versi 0x05 (P2SH)
Code:
05631b88dde960d66d7fa7ea2a3c1c084297143ba0

5. Gunakan SHA-256 dua kali (SHA256D)
Code:
6bbc36c229c3ebbfa10f18dc33a9eb73f09fc479d8022f5d048b317df42bd171

Code:
<?php
use function BitWasp\Bech32\encodeSegwit;

$hrp "bc";
$version 0;
$data pack("H*" "27b5891b01da2db74cde1689a97a2acbe23d5fb1");

$result encodeSegwit($hrp$version$data);
echo
$result;
?>

Hasilnya:
Code:
bc1qy76cjxcpmgkmwnx7z6y6j732e03r6ha3wqfasl

Bonus:

Code:
decodescript 001427b5891b01da2db74cde1689a97a2acbe23d5fb1

Hasilnya:
Code:
{
"result": {
"asm": "0 27b5891b01da2db74cde1689a97a2acbe23d5fb1",
"reqSigs": 1,
"type": "witness_v0_keyhash",
"addresses": [
"bc1qy76cjxcpmgkmwnx7z6y6j732e03r6ha3wqfasl"
],
"p2sh": "3Aj3og72RnL8MMRwKFDKJNdrnZ4SPgYQD7"
},
"error": null,
"id": null
}

5988  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [Q&A] Tanya Jawab Seputar Forum Disini/Ask about this forum here! on: August 19, 2018, 02:10:13 PM

https://www.computerweekly.com/tip/Limitations-of-two-factor-authentication-2FA-technology
https://www.theverge.com/2017/7/10/15946642/two-factor-authentication-online-security-mess

As I understand, it's too difficult to integrate into current version of SMF.

Not only do I believe you're right, it probably is too difficult or too risky to integrate into the forum in it's current state, but there is already an endless sea of "Account lost" threads, where people reset their passwords and lose their accounts, simply forget their passwords or goof their recovery questions. I think that until we have a decent solution for these people, adding 2-FA will only serve to exacerbate this problem. Then, you have to consider that even allowing user stats, images, new-tab and other features have proven to be security flaws to be exploited; I'm assuming that 2-FA would be no different.

This forum is not short of malicious users, and anything that can be used to lock, access or block your access will be pushed to the limits.

In the context you describe, being tricked into logging into a fake site, this would not help either. You would simply use your 2-FA to log into their proxy, they would forward this input to the real forum and then be logged into your account just as easily.

T-FA is fine Theymos-Factor Authorization

Tl; dr

<...>
1. Bookmark https://bitcointalk.org/ and always login from the bookmark.  Avoid bitcointalk.to, thebitcointalk.net or any other phishing site.
2. Use new email address.
3. Use new password that you don't use for any other websites, with sufficient length using a combination of letter/capital characters, numbers, and special characters.
4. You could set a secret question and its answer for password reset but most likely it increases the risk of your account to be hacked/locked.
5. Do not download untrusted softwares and keep your device clean from malware.
6. Keep your device and browser updated to the latest version.
7. Stake your Bitcoin address.
<...>

Terjemahan:

1. Bookmark https://bitcointalk.org/ dan selalu login dari bookmark. Hindari bitcointalk.to, thebitcointalk.net atau situs phishing yang lain.
2. Gunakan alamat email baru.

Contohnya:
Code:

Well, as a live spectator of this show. I immediately regret my decision to gave @Nagesh021 a real-life lesson. But at least, they both literally made me laugh so hard.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2996986 >> Dasar-dasar kriptografi
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3664755 >> Electrum

Aniway...

Hasil report ane:

Moga-moga masih bisa terus akurat.

Saya coba patroli di sini deh agan @joniboini https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=768254
Mulai dari yang kena necrobump 101-103, plus skimming spammer-spammer jaman dulu (cuma ane report kalo masih aktif nyepam).
Perkiraan selesai 12 Sept 2018.

<...>
Well, it could be even simpler. Simply don't accept newbies or Jr. members into campaigns of any sort, and they'll have no choice but to either step up and level up, or gtfo.

What about disabling signature for junior members so that they need to get 10 merits (become a member) to enable it?
In my opinion, one merit is just too little to have an impact.
Also, this method will affect current juniors, not only the new one and no need to airdropped 1 merit.

Dude, you need to chill a bit. You need to also put yourself in his (and other seniors) shoes. This spam-fest is really annoying and it's so difficult to differentiate between a newbie who really want to learn and a born shitposter (and don't forget a bot). It took me months to understand what's going on with this forum.

Yes, some high-rank members tend to be hostile and disrespectful. Just befriend the good person, and ignore the assh*les. This is the internet! What exactly do you want?

Suppose I had 0 balance and then deposit 10k satoshis and use it to buy 10k lottery tickets, can I then roll and use my faucet giveaway balance to buy lottery tickets?
5997  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: POW vs. POS on: August 16, 2018, 02:51:01 AM

<...>

Agree with the comments above. The problem with PoS is that the reward is far too high for the "work" done. I mean in PoS system, wallets with stacked coins still perform the block creation but don't require that much computation power. In this case, maybe Peercoin as d5000 said, will get away with it since the reward is very low. Hybrid PoW/PoS might work if the reward is fair between PoW and PoS validators, but usually, this tends to favor PoS. This situation may explain:

<...>
3 Hybrid POW/POS
4 POS
5 Bankrupt
<...>

Nakamoto PoW uses electricity for computation power to mine a block. It doesn't mean that the system cannot use other "work" to create a block. And in order to this "work" to be successful, users/"miners" must perceive the reward as fair. Maybe it still requires "outside" element, or not?
5998  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pennsylvania Catholic Church covers up 300 chomo priests on: August 15, 2018, 05:18:50 PM
The Catholic church needs to reform in this modern day. It just doesn't make any sense that a priest cannot get married like any sane person. That's why in my opinion, only pedophile and gay will become a priest. Just allow marriage so they won't gather in the church and misuse God's name to do molestation. I've watched so many documentaries about this issue and it's so disturbing.
5999  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [HELP]Bantuan untuk menaikkan Rank (Jr. Member s.d Hero)[UPDATE] on: August 14, 2018, 07:46:21 AM

Mari kita bedah postingan agan:

Contoh kasusnya?

"penurunan kualitas Pasca panen sebesar." Berapa?

Thanks Smiley

what happened to this project, 100X down?
Is team still active, whats on the roadmap, why so much devaluation in terms of price?

The market is bearish atm, so it will affect all crypto not only Ella.
AFAIK the team has implemented many things from their roadmap. In fact, they successfully hard fork Ella chain to implement Byzantium and WASM.
