they are certainly totally off, evicted from their office, phones are dead and they seem to have a tax issue with the gov. typical startup failure in the best case, scam in the worst.
Wow, if that was a scam they must produce and demonstrate the fake ptototype on the conferences.

is this already out in the market? if so any reviews on the performance? this might crush the bitmains dominance over the bitcoin network hashrate and people will finally stop crying about china controlling bitcoin/bcash lol looking forward to this technology
No. At the moment, we will have to wait until at least October - 5 months, before anyone will see a unit.

Charles Hoskinson, co-founder of altcoin Cardano (ADA), tweeted June 20 that the entry of Wall Street into the crypto sector will bring in “tens of trillions of dollars:”

Cardano, which is currently ranked 8th on Coinmarketcap, has a market cap of around $3.5 billion. Charles Hoskinson was also one of the founding members of Ethereum (ETH), crypto startup Invictus Innovations, and crypto tech company IOHK.

When asked by a commentator what exactly the crypto community is building, Hoskinson answered “an entirely new world:”

Cointelegraph invites you to visit the five largest farms in the world.

GigaWatt
Launched: 2012
Location: Washington, U.S.
Hashrate: 1.3 PH

The emergence of new players in young and profitable niches is often difficult to predict. Billionaires are those who, until recently, repaired computers or worked in an electronics store. One of them, Dave Carlson, began to mine with an ordinary GPU and now owns the largest mining farm in North America....

Can be Bittman himself involved in this newsletter? You rule out that possibility? Not me. Perhaps this is a creative way of advertising. I don't think that's the worst deception from Bittman. It seems to me that they took part in the attack 51% and they are exactly after the preliminary sale of asics include them in the work and increase the complexity of the networks. Such actions have caused damage to all customers who can not refuse to pre-purchase.
Seems to be quite unlikely. Bitmain earned 4 billions(!) USD in profit last year, and they don't need to be connected to this scam, which can ruine the reputatinon.

Ya... E9+ scam that I received was from webmaster@bitmain(s)tech.com... now is a "common" phishing scam... but with our real data again! Angry

Received it as well.  This is the same data they got from the previous attack which Bitmain informed about last autumn, I am sure, as they have still same incorrect data from me, for example.

Pangborn Update 22 June 2018

 - Yesterday we spent the afternoon with the Douglas County PUD (DCPUD)and ECI(their electrical consultant) to go over our plans to finalize both the mobile substation and the permanent substation.  The switchgear will have to be moved 9-12 feet as a result of the DCPUD assuming operations of the substation.  They operate under the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), and NESC requires that structures near a substation be far enough from the substation fence that no-one can easily climb/jump from those structures into the substation's restricted area.  We are currently working on options to see if we can move the switchgear in once piece or if we will have to disassemble it before the move to the requested position.  We are also going to need to change the conduit that the current cabling are in from 6” to 3” and each line will need it’s own conduit, this change is to bring the substation into line with DCPUD safety requirements and it should make maintenance easier once the substation is up. The DCPUD will be onsite in the coming weeks to place a temporary wooden power pole and A-frame on site to bring power down to the mobile substation.  The DCPUD has agreed to provide low side breakers for our mobile substation while ours are being made and brought in for the permanent ones on our substation.

I am also frustreted to see  how my investments melt, but I understand that GW tokens will bring me 30% return each year, at least, even if I my miners all become unprofitable.

Wait i've clearly missed something, how do you get 30% return? Is there a passive income included or something?
Sure, because you can rent out your free wtt tokens, if you don't use them.

Nobody saw the scammers
Sure nobody sees scammers, usually.  Cheesy   But bitcoin address to which they ask to send money - is rising collecting bitcoins every day.

70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: WARNING!! BEWARE S11 SCAM Email!! on: June 18, 2018, 09:06:41 AM

Yes... we agree on parts and I know that phishing emails happens all the time. But I've never seen anything like that... I never received a fraudulent email with the sender showing up as 'contact@paypal.com' or 'noreply@paypal.com'... is always 'contact@playpal.com', 'roreply@pay-pal.com' or something like that...

In last email from the real Bitmain they wrote:

There are many different types of software that are able to spoof and edit the sender's email address. The user is able to configure the domain name to send out emails to appear as webmaster@bitmaintech.com.

These scammers act very "professionally"  Angry

Cuteman are you paid by Giga Watt?
NO.  I am the same investor as probably you are, and don't belong to GW team in any form.   I have a few miners there which were deployed in February - instead of September.   A few miners I ordered them to send to another location, because i did not want to wait - and this was my fault as I see now, because that location turned out to be a disaster - much worsethan Giga-Watt.    And i still have  a few miners waiting to be deployed there.

Their biggest fault is that they lie and continue to lie to customers and token holders every day.
...
Did Gigawatt not know that there are inspections as part of construction? Did they not understand that there is a process for every industrial customer to bring a project online? There are tons of data centers in your area including Microsoft.

I agree that they neglected the obvious fact which you are talking.   But I think they are not deliberately lying ,  but are just not too professional.   Dave Carlson run one of the biggest minig farms in the past, and those times there were no such strict rules about those farms build, I assume.    Thus he did not take all these PUD restrictions into consideration.

On the other hand, you can alway ask GW to send your miners to yourself, and run it at home for example.  Also you can sell your tokens on exchange.

Thus they are clearly not scammers.

I am also frustreted to see  how my investments melt, but I understand that GW tokens will bring me 30% return each year, at least, even if I my miners all become unprofitable.

Pangborn Update 15 June 2018

This week was filled with test and certifications.  First out was PSE onsite to complete their UL certifications, these passed and paved the way for L&I to begin theirs.  They finished their preliminary testing on Thursday evening and we should have a report next week.  We continued to have meetings with the PUD about our substation, mobile substation and a company to operate it.  We have three companies interested in running the mobile substation and we should have their bids by Tuesday next week.  Because the PUD will be operating our permanent substation they are reevaluating our site and potentially want to move where our switchgear is located as well as bringing in medium size breakers to be placed between the switchgear and H-Frame, we are currently looking at all options to expedite this piece in.  The PUD, Beleya, Snohomish PUD and Giga Watt are in the final steps for an approved mobile substation with all requirements that have been requested.  This process and our finish line is always a moving target and we have been asked multiple times what is different about this site and our Moses Lake site.  Moses Lake is located in Grant county and managed by the Grant County PUD, our site there did not require a substation because their mainline is 13.8kv so we did not need to bring in any special equipment, we simply applied for the power that was available in our area.  Our Pangborn site that is managed by Douglas County PUD did not have the 13.8kv line it only has the 115kv so we needed to build our own substation to utilize the 30 Megawatts that we requested and planned for.

Bitmain sent official email about this fraud, at last!

---------------------------------
Dear customers,

There has been another wave of phishing emails sent by fraudsters. If you do receive such emails offering Antminer models that are not available on shop.bitmain.com, such as an Antminer S10 or S11, please do not make any payment to the email senders.

There are many different types of software that are able to spoof and edit the sender's email address. The user is able to configure the domain name to send out emails to appear as webmaster@bitmaintech.com.

We would like to remind our customers once again that Bitmain does not promote or solicit sales through emails or phone calls. All orders are only accepted through our official website, https://shop.bitmain.com/

For announcements and news from Bitmain, please follow our blog.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.

Regards,

The Bitmain team

The email I received was from Bitmain's official email!!!!
In fact - NO.   Try to reply to that emai, and you will see that it put into the Receiver field not BM email.  But if you look into original email, you will see that it indeed looks like as sent from Bitmain.

There is a "display" name on  emails, which can be different from the sender's email - for example:  "John Smith".   But when you reply it - you will see smth like johnsmith@gmail.com   (just an example).

So fraudsters just substituted the "display" email with the real Bitmain's one.

Quote from: cointelegraph.com
CNBC writes that according to a report published Feb. 21 from investment research company Bernstein, the four-year-old Bitmain reportedly made between $3 and $4 billion in operating profit in 2017, whereas Nvidia, founded 24 years ago, made about $3 billion during the same period.

A company that makes more profit than tech giant like Nvidia, cannot afford to hire top level security experts to keep their systems away from hackers. It is infuriating really, these hacker scumbags now have all my info including my address and phone number. WTF Bitmain?

Wow, those numbers are crazy.  Maybe now with their reputation on the line they'll start hiring top security talent so things like this don't happen again.  Thanks for the warning, I've heard multiple people getting compromised.  I wonder why they haven't made an official announcement about it, warning customers.
I sent to Bitmain request for explanation, but no reply.   Same scammer continue to send email nearly every day , with the same toopic and text.

The mysterious reason behind the recent bitcoin sell-off may have just been uncovered

Fundstrat’s Tom Lee recently confirmed a previous report that the price of bitcoin drops toward the end of futures contracts.

In a note to clients, Lee said he followed up on a report from Raptor Group’s Justin Saslow. His office compiled the data and found that the price of bitcoin drops 18 percent in the 10 days prior to the expiration of Cboe futures contracts. "A broader observation is there is significant volatility around these expirations," Lee added. "And on average, the price recovered by day six [following expiration]."   - CNBC
77  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 12, 2018, 08:11:12 AM
Hey, guys!

Do $100 coupons (or any other) work when you order APW3 PSUs as a separate order or they are only for miners?
Thanks.

They are for miners, and should not exceed 50% value of it, as I saw on some email.

Im furious because why shitmain doesn’t make an official email about this scam to warn the customers and state that their database was hacked

In fact a couple of weeks ago they sent email warning that somebody pretending to be Bitmain is calling over phone .

webmaster@bitmaintech.com is bitmains email. Ive been getting legitimate emails from this address for ages, thats why its so convincing, especially if you save this email as a contact / priority sender.
Interesting that email shows the sender's email as webmaster@bitmaintech.com - BUT if you try to reply it, it will put another address for the receiver:  no.rply@bitmaintech.com

Obviously there is a trick, in which scammers succeeded to put   webmaster@bitmaintech.com  on the "sender's" field of their emails, somehow.    BUT email arrives not from it, but from no.rply@ ...  , and when you reply it, it put real address from where it arrived - no.rply@bitmaintech.com Roll Eyes

In any case,  in order to send email from address belogning to domain bitmaintech.com - you need to posess that domain, don't you ??
