Still need 10000BTC to do anything I want whenever I want.

You must have lofty goals & targets Grin Cheesy
10,000BTC is over 97 million USD.

bought a guy a couple pizzas a few years back..  met his needs for the evening.    what a difference a few years makes.

Ha Ha !!!   That one got me...
I resisted looking it up for some time, but then I knew my mind would explode if I did not get that resolved quickly !
How many times have I heard that song?  Hundreds,  Thousands of times?   and I still could not recollect where that combination of words came from...  WOW.

Nice...The B.R. movie was pretty good IMO.

What to think of these wallet ?

Man, I just cannot get into the hard wallets..

a. the best and brightest individuals design these devices
b. man is flawed and ALWAYS looking to benefit for himself.  we are not "hive" minded by default.

a + b = untrustable deliverables.   I just do not think there is any way you can be 100% assured that the device will not send your private information on to another device or the "network" at its earliest opportunity.   I have just seen too many con jobs from too many "trusted" and "honest" folk.

Note:  I have seen easter eggs make it into software that was peer reviewed and verified.   You would have to work hard to convince me to put my savings on an electronic device.     I know.. I purchase crypto with the internet and PC wallets... but I get my stuff to paper the first chance I get.   I find the challenges of keeping paper from flood and fire much less stressful than the alternatives.

Building a seastead was a dumb idea to begin with, he would of been better off buying a bunch of land somewhere and trying to start his own country.

wow.  you just got on the "ignore" list of 95% of WO participants.

The movie is already available for download (in good quality). I'll let you look for it on the web since I'm not sure we're allowed to post torrent links or direct download links.

WAIT...there is yet another Hemsworth?   I knew about Chris and Liam.. did not know about a Luke.   Wow.  I will crawl out from under my rock a bit more often maybe..  It's like the Baldwins.. they just keep coming.

My new Wallet !!!  Wink

It may be that many who read WO, have never seen it.

Floppy disk > https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floppy_disk
Better keep that thing well away from any magnets

You want a magnet-proof wallet?

Oops. I'm showing my age again.

My wallet is bigger >>  brings back memories of the beloved TRS80

Stamp is the recognized WO datum of record.

You have to pick something or else price discussions become meaningless. And Stamp is the least bullshit exchange.

jbreher is big on disambiguation, I'm sure he'll understand.  Roll Eyes

Yeah, I get the point. However, the micro price on stamp is irrelevant to my activity on Coinbase. I was clearly speaking about Coinbase, when JJG felt the need to counsel me on the use of stamp. Irrelevant. (Why does everything I post here get twisted into a referendum on something else entirely?)

In tangentially-related matters, I am becoming disillusioned with Coinbase as of late. I already have accounts on most of the old-guard exchanges as well, which are no more satisfying. Anyone care to name a favorite? Criteria include:
Accessible from US (but don't care about NY BitLicense)
Secure
Low fees for market makers
Bigly Deposit/Withdrawal limits - both fiat and crypto
Insurance a plus - as long as it is underwritten by real insurers
Don't much mind having to do the KYC dance. I mean, I mind it on philosophical grounds, but am prepared to do so.

I've been using Gemini. They're the most legit exchange on the planet, from I found last year. They're insured, highly solvent, relatively transparent, don't engage in wash trading and market manipulation, etc.
Downsides: high fees and lower liquidity than some of the other big exchanges (who fake their volume)

I absolutely love Gemini.
they offer deals thruout the year of free block trading (usually 10 BTC minimum) where there are no fees for buying and selling.
Once you have bank accounts linked up and everything verified, you can perform HUGE transactions both in and out of your Gemini account - speaking of the experiences of a friend of course.

Your taxes helped poor people and an overwhelming amount of illegal aliens get basic healthcare!?

FTFY. Would rather have put ACA money into building the wall, to mitigate the arguable open border and flood of illegal immigration we are dealing with.

Also, I draw the line at my tax dollars being used for third trimester abortions, in the name of "basic healthcare".

I could not send you my only merit fast enough !!   Amen brother.

Here's my 2 cents: If Bitcoin breaks $5,280 today or tomorrow, then by April 14th we might be in the $5,400–$5,500, otherwise Bitcoin will retreat to $4,800–$4,900 range during the week.

Done

arrggggg...  now I'm experiencing severe FOMO !!   someone talk me off the ledge.   Funny how the price going up just $20 or $30 can paralyze you and keep you from buying as you wait for it to drop back down below some insignificant threshold.

I have been trying to buy since below 4k... just somehow can't buy when I think "can't buy at these prices - it was x$ lower yesterday and it will surely go back down"

arrggggg...

Bitcoin does have the possibility to increase and reach a price of 20k, but you have to have the patience to wait for the time to come, and I think to make that recovery will take a long time.

20k ain't going to cut it...
those of us who have lived thru the rise of 20k - and did not sell - are not just going to accept it rising only to 20k.
We demand restitution for the pain and suffering (the salt loans that were liquidated, the business deals that had to fall thru, us looking like fools saying "yeah, no problem, I can close in a few weeks", then having to back out and pay the cancellation fees.

Noooo sir... 20k will just be the start of making us feel better... it will have to do better than that.

I was invited to 100k parties - and I intend to make an appearance.

I could not find a reliable crystal ball.
I did look into our new "Rick and Morty" Lava Lamp we have here at my workplace for consult...
Here is my conclusion:

1. at least one ETF up for review will get approved by default due to US government shutdown (they will take advantage of "it's not our fault, we were on shutdown" and let the ETF pass thru the system.
2. Bakkt will go smoothly into operation.
3. BTC will go up in value - quickly but cautiously - in Spring and early Summer

So March 31 price will be >>  $ 17488

Bitcoin!

ohhhhh this is soooo perfect.  just how I feel after my SALT loan got liquidated due to the flash crash.

Funny how BTC dropped to the perfect level to liquidate me, then went north and has not come back to that price.
I may have to be institutionalized if the price does not go back lower (or at least revisit that level).

I would like to have a statistical expert run the odds of how all the prices lined up (in a bad way) for me over the past many months.  In the words of Vizzini... "inconceivable" !!!

you do not see that combination in north america (well maybe Canada).
Makes me want to go to a steak restaurant and ask for fries with my steak and see what reaction I get...

Canada was the first place I experienced french fries with chili and cheese poured on top of them.  I think they called them chili fries.
79  Economy / Speculation / Re: Impact of the pending ETF in September? on: August 31, 2018, 02:46:29 PM
Don't expect anything so you don't get massive disappointment. We are most times not sure in which direction the market may go even if a certain even triggers it. I simply think that the reason why most people thinks that ETF acceptance of Bitcoin may increase it price is because what most people are expecting thus circulating the news. Do not sell but hold, you might not buy it buy when you want to.

Yes you should not expect anything from the market, the price will increase or decrease depending on the global situation which affects the mindset of every cryptocurrency investors.

I have a very strong feeling (based on a very limited sample) that the ETF will bring a huge price increase - not just due to speculation, but in real world supply/demand and volume/activity.  Supporting data:  just in my limited small group of older tech engineers, I would say the handfull of us, alone, will add easily about 1.5 million $ in BTC purchases when the ETF allows for us to invest some of our retirement 401k funds.  [I have seen similar posts and observations from other working stiffs.]  These funds are locked up for most of the US workers that have company contractual custodial accounts that prevent investment in anything other than SEC approved instruments.

My point is that there is a enormous amount of money just waiting to purchase shares in the BTC ETFs.  Couple the large population of aging professionals - their retirement funds - and the the media buzz when the ETFs are approved, and you will have a rush to the market to purchase.   IMO the price will increase dramatically.

He was richer than Satoshi

HISTORY: Mansa Musa, the 14th century ruler of Mali, is the richest person to have ever lived with equivalent of $400 billion

Most everyone living in a modern city/community (even with modest means) is enjoying comforts that even royalty did not have in the not-so-distant past.

1. hot/cold water with just a turn of a valve
2. lighting almost anywhere
3. perishable foods from across the globe in a "magical" box at the local store or even in your own home.

How gypped the past kings and queens must feel when they see how the common folk are living today...
