I just came across this post and was amazed that this guy actually got 8 merits (!?!?!) (more than I have right now trying to do good quality posts & help people out - isn't this the whole point of a forum/community?). This is a perfect example of what I was saying earlier about shit posters that are sr/hero/legendary members and they now have a "privileged" status compared to other newer members that want to help out and try to create good quality/positive posts. The interesting thing, that I did not think can happen, is that they also receive merits for it.... Come on... Is this the path we want to take? You ain't seen nothing yet. Some forum gang member got 100+ merit only for calling someone a butthurt idiot. And yes; that's the chosen path the forum is walking. Unfortunately. |

The trouble with your "ethical mature" system is that you're an immature whiny demagogue yourself so that kinda makes your idealistic scheme DOA. But by all means - let us know once your new ideal forum is up and running. I would love to see who those mature members are.

I like to think of myself as a honest and ethically mature member. Do you have examples where I haven't been?
I have plenty of examples where members like Lauda, actmyname and The Pharmacist haven't been. When you decide to have a moderating system based on subjective judgements (as is the case with the trust and merit systems) then you need to give the power in the hands of ethical mature members. When there are ethical immature members, as the ones mentioned above, you should either withhold them power or establish objective rules to which the moderators too must comply. Otherwise you'll get the pirate hole this forum is at present. |

Of course, this has been tried many times in the past already. If you guys are going to openly invite scammers and spammers, it will be interesting to see how your forum handles them.
It is not me, but if I were to handle scammers at a forum it would be from clear set rules, honestly and objectively moderated by ethically mature moderators. Not though terror by a hypocritical low-ethics gang who scam themselves the hell out of the forum. |

Thanks for the merit BTW  Yes, I agree but the thing is, you will not receive any merit points for your direct posts. I have only received merits when posting in this sub forum (when people have looked at my posts). Even the more established members that can make a difference (like mods, admins etc.) received very low amounts of merit points. I have done well researched posts or helped out other guys that had issues with mining for example. None of them sent me any merit although the information was used or they thanked me (it seems like it's easier for them to thank me than send me merit ). Using this merit approach will not work for good faith users that post good quality and are not spammers. That's why I think this system isn't working. I think I will make the remaining 3 merits to get to member status in the next months (hopefully) but will definitely be stuck here for many years until I reach 100. My opinion is that this system is just a measure of limiting users from acquiring rank to give the current established members more rights than the other folks. I even named it a "Trumpish" system in another thread because it's kinda like what's happening in the US right now, immigration wise. Try getting 100 merits for reaching a Full Membership ranking. You'll have to be some kind of Einstein or Mother Theresa to gain such amounts of merits. Or somehow get sucked up into the group of scam moderators. That probably works best around here.  But it's no use complaining about it. Because the merit system was not designed to merit posts in the first place but rather to keep members from reaching higher rankings. And for that it is doing it's job wonderfully. |

Why not? Where's the logic in this? Higher ranked accounts don't even need the merit so it's largely useless other than a show of appreciation of their post, which is how merit should be used, but people who give a shit about the forum would rather see good quality lower-ranked posters be able to move up the ranks by making constructive posts so most will be more than happy to dish out merit freely providing people area actually contributing something worthwhile.
The point he's making is the following. When you are a Hero Member participating in a signature campaign you'll get more rewards when your fellow campaigners are of low ranking due to the staking system. That's an incentive to not distribute merit points to lower ranking members. |

I think this is the best the decision you could take by removing abuser in your trust list, and i think you should ask Blazed to stop recruiting racist and abuser in his trust list. Noone of those abusers fignt realy againts spammers all they want its money,power to destroy user accounts. Its time to leave the trust system in the hand of moderators instead of all those bad guys.
That's right. There's a growing resistance against these trust system abusers as more and more members are experiencing and seeing their unjust, devious actions. This forum needs only one good, fair alternative and we'll see a massive migration to that other forum. |

Just befor the merit system was launched I saw a member expressing his enthousiasm about reaching the Sr Member status very soon. It was a normal post done within a thread that handled the ranking system. actmyname tagged him red for that post. The latter's only motive was to hurt the member. Those mobsters really are a menace to many honest and fair users and to the forum as a whole. |

Because these guys have integrity, something that cannot be said about you.. neither of these guys would sell merit so this thread is a non starter. People who know aTriz and Lauda will stand up for them as they are above such actions, I am sure the same would happen for me if you made a similar thread actually the same for anyone who is posting in Lauda or aTriz's defence.
Look up the meaning of integrity, then look at your own actions..

In what sense are you comparing aTriz and Lauda to a dead horse? And that the amount of threads created in this board against aTriz and Lauda is very high only is a sign of their abuse of power. It is the latter which is 'ridiculous' not that people react to it. Then why doesn't theymos remove Lauda from DT by excluding them from his trust list? My sad conclusion has to be that the forum owner himself has to be corrupt too, for otherwise he would not maintain the situation as it is. Are you telling me negative feedback should only be given to people who break the rules? Then in that case, spamming would warrant negative feedback and scams wouldn't. If we're going by that logic. That's the evil thing about the forum governance. Laws and punishment are detached from each other. It's like the cop who's given the fiat to shoot whoever he likes, innocent or not.
