Блять.Не могу засинхронизировать новую версию кошелька.2 месяца уже его не открывал и не майнил.Чё делать то. Удалил всё кроме wallet.dat запустил новый кошель - нифига I don't understand Russian... bee7 can answer you more precisely, he understands Russian. But he's quite busy recently... I guess you ask the wallet locked issue: This says you can not do mining due to wallet encrypted. you need to unlock the wallet in order to mine (for example for PoS blocks): grain-qt -server graind walletpassphrase <passphrase> <unlock_duration_in_seconds> true

What's this "gravity well" that's so popular right now?
Is that something that could give GRA some attention?
Nope, Graincoin uses diff retarget each block, which is the original algorithm from PeerCoin. This performs the same function as "gravity well" and is simpler/faster. I don't get why "gravity well" even implemented in the first place, it is apparently by a dev who was not aware the existence of PeerCoin algorithm, and re-invented the wheel. Many pow-only coins implemented the PeerCoin algorithms and work very well, some examples like Infinitecoin, Earthcoin among many others. Not to say PoW/PoS coins, which are almost exclusively using PeerCoin's retarget each block algorithm.

AND, one more basic issues
This coin will be changed to 1024 fixed rewards ? If not, the cheating miner will mining between 1536 ~ 2048 chance only, it will makes 20~25% more gain, If yes, the reward concept will be changed too much ?
I need to discuss this with bosian. Not sure I understand what you mean mkimid. The base coin payout is random, that variation is not big that we possibly don't need to care. The key is 8X and 64X superblocks, if we can do "delayed" payout, then the cheater will not get anything more, they will just that their 1X, the rest 7X or 63X will go to the person who find the lucky hash.

And regarding promotions/marketings of the coin, any volunteers? We need some good marketing people to join the team and help marketing/promotion/communications. Both bee7 and myself are technical people and we've been working a lot to ensure the smooth running of the coin.
Any marketing gurus if interested please contact me.

Opening a new client on another computer will not work (at least for me id did not work). The new client will not sync at all with the blockchain.
Tried creating a new wallet and copying wallet.dat back (same computer) same issue. 20% CPU use 139Meg of ram
Any suggestions?
You can't sync even from scratch for a complete new wallet? This is strange, try these addnodes, they are my peers: addnode=95.85.26.11 addnode=54.197.230.111 addnode=62.210.151.66 addnode=162.243.98.174 addnode=198.27.97.178 addnode=94.230.253.119 addnode=129.24.128.122 addnode=2.236.53.94 addnode=89.110.148.247 addnode=198.23.129.194 addnode=85.17.81.169 addnode=92.49.161.104

The coin appears working fine. The PoW diff a bit low, which may cause some orphans, but the mining should be fine...
anyway please post any issues you experience.
Hi Bosian, several people have problems with the Grain client. It gets a single core to 100% load and freezes the whole time. Its not just the GUI, the grain daemon doesn't respond to cgminer, you cant mine with it. Its not a full freeze, it freezes for 2-3 minutes, works for 2 seconds and freezes again. I had to create a new wallet in order to make the client usable again. I assume, that a huge ammount of PoS matured inputs is causing this. The client is not freezing, as long the wallet is locked. Do you have a clue how to fix this or should I just transfer my Grain to the new wallet and lose the coinage? I am using the windows client. Thanks! Exactly the same issue. Though I did not experience this issue, some people told me the scenario and the same problem exist in a couple of other pow/pos coins. One friend mined another pow/pos coin, and he had similar issue (CPU goes to 100% after opening wallet - then client not responding). He told me one way out of it that he found. I never tried it as i did not have the issue. But I share the method here and hopefully it will help you. Make sure you make backups of the wallet.dat before trying this. This is what he did: in another computer, create a new wallet (if you have a single computer, you can do this, just move wallet.dat to a saved dir, again always make backups of wallet.dat, then start client, a new wallet will be created, copy it's address, and move it to a new dir, and move your original wallet.dat back). Then back to the computer where the wallet has the issue, disable the internet, then open the client, do a send of all the balance to the new wallet 1st, then enable the internet. Now the send transaction will be executed after wallet goes to sync, and all your balance should be transferred to the new wallet. The new wallet should not have this issue. We don't know why the issue occurs. It is a generic issue with pow/pos coins. It seems that when there are too many transactions in a wallet, people may experience this kind of problems. We will keep investigating and if we found a solution of it, we will share with the community.

Guys, I am not dumping a single coin. There's no point to dump. We are building its long term potentials. The price is up and down, there are traders out there. And most alt coins are down recently, due to the BTC problems.
The grain dev team is there, it's not going away, we commit to support our coin.
Woops ^^ Welcome back Bosian, Even some body misunderstand you, but, never mind, Because of MOST of Grainers are trust you, I want to suggest one thing, 1. Please gathering the issues 2. Please gathering the opinions from the grainer 3. And, we need to restart before half-life reward Anyway, MOST of grainers are willing to gather their own effort, Thanks for your suggestions. I will look into it if there are any issues.

By the way, I ordered a few shot glasses using Graincoins, from here http://woodshotglass.com/just received them, pretty cool, though I'd say the engrave could have done better, but our logo is a bit fine, not easy to engrave to the wood.

many alt coin price down, due to Mt Gox and Bitcoin I think.
Not only that, but a lot of new coins like Maxcoin are taking the limelight. The good steady coins go to the background when there's excitement in the air for the "next big thing" that turns out to be worthless once it gets dumped. In every situation there is an opportunity, and for me, this is cheap Grain buying time. Ran out of coins... canīt buy anymore... Someone in the Maxcoin thread kindly sent me 1 LTC for speaking the truth about that awful awful lie of a coin. I will spend it on Grain. Keep faith, we are working on improving Graincoin, and the dev team is committed to support the coin. The price is up and down. We are building the coin for long term potentials.

hopefully heīll soon be gone... Looks like a hacker found a way to get superblocks. We are investigating a new way to prevent this. Unfortunately today all the superblock algorithm is based on the previous hash so before a new block people will know if it is a superblock or not, if he has enough hashpower then he's probably to get it.
|
|
|
After reading all the great ideas for a truly random superblock, it is possible. But it will need to distribute the superblock to previous block owner. We will take a look at the code to see how much work needed to make the changes.
On the other hand, of course the Graincoin is here to stay! We are committed for long term growth. We'll already get many shops accepting graincoins, please try them, some shops are really good, and it feels great to buy something with graincoin!
