61  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CampBX Downtime + Depth on: July 11, 2013, 01:17:22 PM
My bet is that a lot of people (myself included) are trading mostly via bots using the API.  Their API can be a bit slow as well, but not nearly as bad as the website.
62  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: July 08, 2013, 07:08:49 PM
PSA: If you deleted GAuth key for bitfloor, but saved the QR code somewhere, you will have to hit refresh many times before you get to a workable code. For some reason bitfloor used counter based rather than time based, so you have to get past the last code you used to login.

PSA #2: Always save/print the QR code whenever you add a new GAuth code.

Anyone know if there is a possibility of restoring GAuth keys from an old iOS backup?

Nope, not possible.  Ran into this problem when I lost my old iPod touch.. Best to take a photo of the QR code and save it someplace secure just in case.
63  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: So what happens if Gox misses their deadline in one week? on: July 03, 2013, 08:58:52 PM
I've been informed by a Mt. Gox customer (which I am not) that the "Bank Transfer" option on their site now just redirects to their "Withdrawal Center", and there is apparently no longer a "Bank Transfer" option at all. Is this correct?

I believe it's done this for quite some time.  If you select "Bank Transfer" it sends you to the withdrawal center to set up a bank account.  Once set up, that bank account is then an option you can choose when you withdraw.  I had a look at my account, and I don't see that anything has changed recently.

No idea, i am Europe based.
Me too at the moment.  Are all Bitstamp deposits/withdrawals made via wire transfer?

Quote
They have an extremely low volume, which obviously makes manipulations easier.
Can you tell me a little more about this?  Are you saying if I want to buy BTC on campbx, there may be a long delay?

If you are in Europe, Bitstamp (with SEPA) is probably your best option.  If you have a US bank account though, and especially if you have a Dwolla account, then CampBX is probably better.

As for buying on CampBX and low volume, this is really only going to be a problem if you want to buy or sell lots of Bitcoin.  If you are looking to buy/sell less than 100 BTC or so, you should be perfectly fine.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to shut down scammer / phishing websites? on: June 19, 2013, 06:48:20 PM
What DMCA has to do with a phishing site??

nature of the site is irrelevant. they use the same name, same icon...
if the original site got a trademark/copyright on it, they can file a DMCA.

Exactly.  I haven't checked out the site, but I assume they would have ripped of some of your copyrighted content (images, text, etc).  That should be enough for a claim.

Even if it isn't, what are they gonna do? Sue you? Good luck to them with that Smiley
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to shut down scammer / phishing websites? on: June 19, 2013, 03:55:30 PM
If it's hosted in the USA, you could probably file a DMCA takedown request with their hosting provider.  If not though, you are probably out of luck.
67  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox International wires - now being queued instead of processed instantly on: June 19, 2013, 02:11:36 PM

Now even BTC withdrawals are being "delayed".

I haven't noticed this.  You have a source for that?
68  Economy / Speculation / Re: MTGOX trade post Dwolla on: June 18, 2013, 12:56:08 PM
so i guess, i'll start using my CC and reversing every TX wherever i use it. its everywhere i want to be.

Of course you would quite quickly lose your card (and probably find yourself in court for fraud).

The problem isn't so much people using their own cards, but people using stolen cards.
69  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mark Karpeles and MTGox: Why are they refusing to help Bitcoinica victims?? on: June 14, 2013, 06:36:29 PM
+1

This, the coinlab lawsuit & the dwolla debacle are starting to cast a pretty big shadow on Gox.  The fact that Gox has said nothing of consequence publicly about any of these matters is worrying.

Wait, no mention of the week-long lag? No mention of a "trade engine" consisting of wet spaghetti for the use of which the noobs and the clueless are being charged an arm and a leg? How soon we forget, now that they no longer have the market share.

That stuff all sucks too, but doesn't concern me nearly as much as the others (but that's just me)
70  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2013-06-13 Latest from FinCEN on: June 13, 2013, 08:44:16 PM
Exactly... this is right out of the Nazi/Soviet Playbook.

The nice lady mentioned "exploitation of children" at least 4 separate times...
When Bitcoin has absolutely nothing to do with such evil.

US Govt: "Do whatever we say no matter how Draconian... or you favor "exploitation of children".

To be fair, it seems the event at which the speech was made was sponsored by the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (see second sentence of the speech) so of course she was tying this in to that theme.

all bets confirmed

Here's my BTC Address, as i have won the bet,

He's on central time, it's 9:19 AM there right now, so he still has a few hours (although I think him winning at this point is a pretty long shot)

bets are on, before monday noon, central time zone.  No I won't disappear.

73  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox: Upgraded me to Trusted in less than 24 hours! on: June 10, 2013, 01:18:11 PM
Holy crap.  Are you serious?  I paid a grand total of $4 for mine.  Trip to my bank for the notorization (free) then to the secretary of state's office for the Apostille ($2/page)

LOL OP got ripped off.

I guess he got charged for the home service.

Maybe, although his was approved in 24 hours, and I've been waiting a week and mine hasn't been approved yet, so who knows.

... and I now have trusted status (after some mix up with Gox "locating my account").  So guess my $4 apostille was good after all Smiley
74  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox vs BTCe vs CAMP BX vs ........... on: June 05, 2013, 12:59:48 PM
I use Gox, CampBx and Bitstamp.

As for BTCe, I'll acknowledge that they seem to be trustworthy based on their history, but I still wouldn't touch them.

Any particular reason for staying away from BTCe? Can't be just because their interface looks bad right? haha

Based in Russia, anonymous owners, poor support, lots of reports of missing coins, no concern for AML.. I just get a bad feeling about them I guess
75  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does anyone else hate Dwolla? on: June 04, 2013, 09:30:45 PM
Personally I've had no trouble at all with them, and I've used them many times with Gox and CampBX.

I'm still a bit wary of them after the way they treated Tradehill and other exchanges back in the day though.

Taslim Bhamji doesn't seem to work at PKF Corporate Recovery anymore: http://www.pkfcr.co.nz/our_people
At February 6 he still seemed to work there: http://web.archive.org/web/20130206230128/http://www.pkfcr.co.nz/our_people/professional_staff/taslim_bhamji

I'll try to contact them within an hour. I would suggest any one of you to do this: http://www.pkfcr.co.nz/contact-pkf-corporate-recovery

Good catch.  Sent them an e-mail, will post here if I hear anything back.
