I have also noted the same glitch, so I don't think it's about cpu ram or resources or internet connection.
Staking is fine almost all the time, yes I do have seen rarely one orphan but very unusual, but after a few hours of staking I will also get the 0.0 in the overview and them building up so there will be 0.0 and then 0.0 and so on. It's enough if I close down the wallet and restart just the wallet and enable stake and it will work just fine again.
I don't stake 24/7, sometimes I just open the wallet to support the network without staking, I will have between 2 and 6 connection to the network at average.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Ultracoin] [Est. Feb 2014] ~ ASIC Resistant & Ultrafast 6 Second Transactions! on: November 23, 2016, 12:12:09 PM
I think it will be difficult to find someone to make all the wallets and nodes for android/ios instead of buying the complete package from coinomi, first to find someone who can make it, and make it good and stable, within a short period of time and to do it cheaper.
If you know someone, fine let's take the dude.
Otherwise I think we need to put up the money (if we want to do it).
I think of it like this. Here we have an amazing opportunity to shape this coin into anything we want it to be, completely unrestricted. We choose. We can make it into anything we like. We can take good functions from any other coin and implement it, use any other platform to integrate UTC in them. Be flexible and adapt. We can not possible do it all by ourselves, at least I can't do it. And no one is going to just give us all the stuff we want for free. So since I'm no tech guy I think that; Ok, I can contribute with what I can, some funds, it's not a lot if you spread the costs, but still someone have to put up the funds or nothing will happen by itself.
I'm I rich? Nope, have family and kids, probably like many of you guys. Still I think it is worth to contribute because with this small donation I can shape the future of this coin, it's amazing I think. With this coin there will be another alternative to the fiat money system that we all dislike.
So basically, with small economic effort we can make a huge advancement for this coin. I know we don't have millions of dollars in ICO and sponsors, not sure we need them, yes I would also be happy if someone else paid for everything but then you have less to say about anything about what you think, well you can say but no one will really care. Anything we make better for this coin will maybe help attract investors in the long run, but I don't think it will be easy to find investors to just buy UTC, if you do know about some investors please step forward! To be honest I don't think any bank would be interested, they will make their on block chain and force people to use only theirs, so UTC would have to be for the people somehow.
And if we don't do coinomi, we do something else and maybe come back later to coinomi, but anything we do will probably cost money/BTC.
By the way is Presstab interested in doing more job for UTC or did he get burned by all the hassle?

@ Presstab, thanks for all your help, you have done a great job, I think you saved UTC. If we won't see you again good luck with your other projects and welcome back!

@ Steven, nice to have you back, well done with the fork and wallet up-date, now all seems a lot smoother, thanks!

Thanks everyone for the input re 2FA, I now realise it would not bring more security for the wallet other than in my imagination.
Re coinomi, yes it was rather steep price for the service, if the community think we should go ahead with this option we need to finance it. I can stand for 10 % of the cost.
If we won't go forward with coinomi what other project should we focus on?
Thanks Usukan for getting the info from coinomi.
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Ultracoin] [Est. Feb 2014] ~ ASIC Resistant & Ultrafast 6 Second Transactions! on: November 22, 2016, 09:53:33 AM
Hi again Usukan!

Ok, I'll drop it the 2FA, we should not focus on this at the moment or maybe ever again  Cheesy
Let's focus on all the other exciting stuff we can do with UTC now that we have a really well working and stable wallet and it looks like more connections to the network and even some more activity here from the community.

Hi wtfc30

In Waves they presented a decentralized 2FA prototype (under Conferance and events):

Here is the link on youtube for that, to be honest I don't really understand what they did, but maybe it' working.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHrt2f1YTl0

WAVES is a completely different protocol (a Hybrid Scorex etc with diff relationships between nodes) - Its a world away from any QT wallet or any other coin at present. They are not even distantly related.  Their 2FA prototype would not work on a QT wallet - bitcoin/UTC or even ETH (and other wallets not based on the WAVES platform) etc.

I have seen one suggestion that QT wallet coins (Bitcoin) could implement 2FA in Jan 2015 - but here we are in late 2016 and nothing has happened in this space.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=188501.msg10257539#msg10257539

Try and contact this "Poramin Insom" (ex Vertcoin - Last Active:   May 17, 2015, 08:30:33 AM) guy and see if the code has been used and successful if you want?

The bottom line (Mike Hearn) was that a good hardware wallet was by far the best solution - since 2fa still relies on an uncompromised PC/mobile.  Ultracoin added to for example Trezor or other hardware wallet.

Hi Usukan, yea I', sorry about the qoute line, got it wrong, my bad. No intention to make it look like your words, sorry!
 Embarrassed Wink
If I'm not mistaken I believe it was Kracko that was doing the android wallet.

usukan - I suspect this was pre Kracko - but maybe wrong, tried it when first out but stopped working and deleted it - whatever - Kracko has vapourised...........

By the way, did anyone see this about Bittrex?
https://bittrex.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/231701788

usukan - This is standard stuff. If you don't have 2FA and are not verified - you should expect just that.  It protects YOU really.

And by the way I still would like the wallet to have 2FA if possible...(for the next fork that would be maybe)

usukan - this is not my quote - its yours. As I said "With 2FA on a QT wallet - I have never heard of that solution.  2FA relies on some centralised party - so online wallets can have 2FA - but not QT.  Maybe Coinomi can have 2FA?" but I see that at present Coinomi does not seem to have 2FA.

Hi wtfc30

I have no idea who the dev was who put up the Android UTC wallet on GooglePlay - it won't work now and should be taken down - but the dev who put it on can only do that.  Unless we can just complain to Google but that really never works very well. (UPDATE - I have reported the issue via 2 routes and asked removal from the store ASAP)

With 2FA on a QT wallet - I have never heard of that solution.  2FA relies on some centralised party - so online wallets can have 2FA - but not QT.  Maybe Coinomi can have 2FA?

Cheers - usukan

I couldn't find 2FA on Coinomi but they have this One Time Backup:
Hierarchical Deterministic Wallet (BIP44) enables you to keep everything accessible and secure with just one super-passphrase which you only have to back-up once and for all.

Let's start with the Coinomi! It's as good start as any other project and won't require that much of an effort for the UTC-Team/management.

Simple to use, we don't have to make a new android/ios wallet (the one we have is/was very slow on the phone, more like a downsized desktop version and not "applike", not sure even if it works now after the fork?).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.ultracoin.ultracoinqt&hl=en
What do you say, I couldn't find any price for including a new coin, just a link to contact them...
Anyway, I'll be more than happy to provide some funds (BTC) if that is what is needed. It shouldn't take that long to get UTC integrated in Coinomi app. After that we have a working version of the desktop wallet and a mobile app wallet, Ta Da!!!

And by the way I still would like the wallet to have 2FA if possible...(for the next fork that would be maybe)

Thanks Usukan and the rest of the team that made this happen, now the network seems to be working properly, no diff syncing the block chain like before. Lets get to the fork asap.
I´d like to support with BTC if we need to pay Presstab for his extra effort regarding solving this problem, don´t think it was included in the agreed amount with the new wallet.
Great work!

Ultracoin fate
« on: September 26, 2016, 10:37:31 AM »
Hello , i am a Navy veteran that has been keeping in touch with UTC since day one. I am writing to ask regarding the fate of ultracoin.
I am trying to mine this coin with:
6 gpu rig
Linux OS
bfgminer
utc14.yacoin.club
At the moment i cannot mine any utc's. My rig connects to the pool but due to low difficulty i cannot get any accepted shares, i wan to know if there are any ways around this?
Furthermore I wonder if you guys have abandoned this coin? there are still nice things you can do with it for example:
by adding double blockchain like Navcoin claims ultracoin could potentionally regain it's status as a hot trading coin and even pushing itself to the top like ethereum has. The wallet-QT should be rebuilt to make it's appearance better. If had the programming skills needed i'd do it myself but i don't.
I pray that ultracoin has not been abandoned like other coins have."

Hi Steven, great to hear from you with this new update!
Just downloaded and installed the new wallet and it works like a charm, opens up a lot quicker than the previous one, synced and staking fine.
It have been a long wait but I´m sure it was well worth it, better to make it right than to rush things through. Now we have something solid to build on.
Thanks everyone for making this happen!
Lets see it works well with the fork and after that we can move on!

Dear Ultracoin Community,

It is at long last that I can proudly say that after more than six months of rigorous development and testing, the latest iteration of Ultracoin has finally arrived. This update will require a fork which is set to actuate on block 1,824,237, which should roughly coincide with Wednesday, October 12th, 2016. The fork will completely overhaul the difficulty re-targetting system to be smooth under swinging hash rates, we have also made several other improvements including a streamline of the Ultracoin wallet which is much more stable and uses dramatically less RAM and CPU power. We are very excited to be releasing this update and we plan on seeing a major resurgence in Ultracoin volume and relevancy in the weeks to come. This marks a new chapter in Ultracoin’s legacy that I am honored to embark on with you all. For those that have been with Ultracoin since the very beginning, to those that may be discovering the project for the very first time today, we appreciate your support more than you could possibly know.

In commemoration of the launch we will be offering limited edition Ultracoin t-shirts for sale, all proceeds go straight to development! The shirts are $20 USD each + Shipping & Handling, they are made of high quality materials and will help you represent Ultracoin on the go as well as fund future developments. We will be accepting payment over PayPal, Venmo, Ultracoin, Bitcoin and Dash. Below are the designs you can choose from:

It has been quite the few months, none of this would be possible without the Ultracoin community at large, I especially want to thank bathrobehero for assisting with the testing phase, you will get a free t-shirt, please contact me so I can get your information. Usukan, you have done an invaluable job and are an integral member of this team, I wouldn’t want to know where we would be without you. Aleneeva, you have done a fantastic job these past few months, your service to Ultracoin has been above and beyond. PressTab, the man behind it all, it is without a doubt that your work will affect the course of Ultracoin for the years to come, you have managed to successfully create the next iteration of Ultracoin and I know it wasn’t easy, your hard work has finally paid off and we can’t thank you enough.

Ladies & gentlemen, the Ultracoin Team is solid and I am more excited than ever to be a part of this project. The future is truly ours and anything is possible, if we want it, the green phoenix is rising and I look forward to our future together. To create a cryptocurrency with the power to change the world is no easy task, but never dream small, we are an industry of pioneers, thinkers and action takers. The steps we take today can influence history forever and dramatically shape the world we live in in. You are all a part of history in the making, and today marks another step in that undertaking. Stay tuned everyone, there are more exciting updates to come.

Sincerely,

Thank you Funsponge for all your support and best of luck with future investment in altcoins and welcome back later if you want!
I´m still here and support UTC, Usukan and Steve and the rest of the community. If needed I will continue to support financially for further development.

Thanks for your support to UTC!

UTC will be here in the future. I give my full support to Usukan. Still development could be faster.

All good for you Funsponge

Im coming on here to say my farewell to you all at Ultracoin.

I invested at the ICO and got my first UTC from Bumface and have been an avid Ultracoin support and promoter and even ran/run the Ultracoin twitter account but its time for a reality check. I've invested $12k in the last 2.5 years in UTC and i know i'm never going to get that back, so cutting my losses whist I can and taking it as a hard lesson learnt. I invested that much money as at the time of purchase ultracoin promised so much at the start. the fastest crypto created (7 second transactions), listing on btc-e.com, full time developer, marketing budget etc etc

I'm a long term investor and was never looking for quick profits. I do and will continue to invest in altcoins I see as being at the forefront of altcoin technology, but its over guys for me on Ultracoin. The only people left are bag holders hoping it gets pumped by a whale. The daily volume constantly is getting lower and lower many days go by and not a single dollar is spent on Ultracoin. Who would want to own it? Ultracoin doesn't even have a developer or a plan. Its failing further and further behind all other coins. Other altcoins have marketing teams, 5-6 developers, full time social media managers, funding/investors. They have created pegging systems, smart contracts etc etc.

All Ultracoin has is about 5 community members, a logo and a dreadful outdated wallet.

Ultracoin is never going to get any real world use.To stand a change it needs to be in the 20 Altcoins at least, and be on all the exchanges to get the following and community.

I really wanted this to work but sometimes in life you have to take an educated risk and this risk didn't work out for me. Sorry guys Good luck for the future in whatever you all do.

73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Ultracoin] [Est. Feb 2014] ~ ASIC Resistant & Ultrafast 6 Second Transactions! on: May 26, 2016, 07:53:38 AM
Amen to that!

I think we will do a much better job than LISK - and we didn't have $6m to spend.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1346646.msg14969940#msg14969940

But its a good demonstration about the importance of getting it right first time.

Cheers - usukan
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Ultracoin] [Est. Feb 2014] ~ ASIC Resistant & Ultrafast 6 Second Transactions! on: April 26, 2016, 06:36:31 AM
I also support the POS addons to the update and would be happy to donate to PressTab some bonus in UTC.
 Smiley

Thanks Steven - yes I support these POS additions to the updates.

and yes PressTab is gem - I hope we can build an ongoing relationship with him (good Devs are damn hard to find)

I would propose we pay him a bonus when this is all through successfully - in UTC of course.

Cheers - usukan

That is why I am proposing the following additions to the updates:

Change to 5.6% pending new update
3% per year at block 3,000,000
1.5% per year at block 4,000,000
1% per year at block 8,000,000

75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Ultracoin] [Est. Feb 2014] ~ ASIC Resistant & Ultrafast 6 Second Transactions! on: April 15, 2016, 11:29:59 AM
I also agree with both of you

Rolled this one around - conclusion is that I support actually.

Thanks for your ideas here Alenevaa.

Will have an effect on inflation but IMO the holding incentive is more significant.

more opinions please.

Cheers - usukan

On the block reward - the current plan can be summarised:

Change notes:

Change to 10 UTC per block pending new update
10 UTC per block - 4,000,000
5 UTC per block - 6,000,000
2.5 UTC per block - 8,000,000
1.25 UTC per block - 20,000,000
1 UTC per block - 25,000,000
.5 UTC per block - 30,000,000
.25 UTC per block - 40,000,000
.125 UTC per block - 50,000,000
.01 UTC per block - 208,145,600

Change to 2% pending new update
1.5% per year at block 4,000,000
1% per year at block 8,000,000

Community - Please discuss.

Thanks - usukan

As I can understand Stake (PoS) is 2% per year right now.
And holder will get 2% only in theory. It'll be less in real life.
Is it worth to accumulate ultracoin with so low stake rate?

Why not to revert to 5.2%/year as it was before fork? It'll not increase inflation but incetivezed people to hold and not to dump.

In fact I don't have much UTCs. I'm just curious! Smiley

What do you think guys?
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Ultracoin] [Est. Feb 2014] ~ ASIC Resistant & Ultrafast 6 Second Transactions! on: April 01, 2016, 07:14:18 AM

So – we need discussion and some decisions from the Community on the above options.

In Summary - The options are:

1 – Retarget fix, Tidy up code, add liteStake (TOTAL COST – approx. 3.12 BTC)

2 – Retarget fix, Tidy up Code (TOTAL COST – approx. 2.4 BTC)

3 – Retarget fix (TOTAL COST) – approx. 1.2 BTC

Of course we could also add an option 4 - Retarget fix and liteStake (TOTAL COST – approx. 1.92 BTC)

The priorities I see for UTC are as follows:

First Priority – Retarget Fix
2nd Priority – Tidy Up Code
3rd Priority – liteStake

Of course everything depends on the available funds from Community support.

My vote would be to go for Option 1

1 – Retarget fix, Tidy up code, add liteStake (TOTAL COST – approx. 3.12 BTC)

I go for option nr 1, i´m in for 10 % donation like Usukan and Roister01.

@ Steven, I'm glad you are alive and healthy, people get worried. Great to have you back! It takes a lot of courage to come back and be honest and ask for forgivness from the community and for that I respect you! I know you have done a lot for UTC and hope you will stay with UTC and the community! Please work together with Usukan who is a natural talent with great leading abilities. The two of you will be great together!

@ Usukan, I like your leading abilities, and thinking and your priority list. Also better take some time and make it good, than quick fix that won't work anyway and don't be afraid of ditching something bad. We have to move forward in a dialectal way, thesis-antithesis-synthesis, new antithesis and so on, moving forward, learning. That way there is no stopping UTC!

@ PaulR1, I agree with you. There where several times when Steven asked for assistance from the community but got no response (including me), its easy to forget that one person will not change everything, everyone has to help and support any way they can.

@ the community, together we can do anything, alone we are nothing.
I will continue to donate if it will help UTC become better, and from the looks at the work from presstab I think he is worth it, what do you all say?
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Ultracoin] [Est. Feb 2014] ~ ASIC Resistant & Ultrafast 6 Second Transactions! on: March 15, 2016, 10:01:57 AM
I will update the BitcoinTalk MAIN page

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=727023.0

Of Ultracoin when we get an agreement with PressTab with an acceptable price to update the wallet/retarget etc.

Updating before this is really not warranted IMO.

Of course this will rely on an agreeable price and appropriate community support to fund the work.

I am maybe naively positive that we will achieve both price and support.

Many thanks for all the support from the community here - but especially in PM's.

We can do this together.

Cheers - usukan

Great work Usukan!
Let's see what the price will be and I will support with donation.
I think we will be able to get this going again!
